Nice job on your videos. You answered a lot of my questions on this vehicle that nobody else has been able to answer. I think these things are so much sweeter than the Tesla Model Y LR with the exception of trunk and frunk space.
I own an Ioniq 5 RWD with some cheap MotoMaster Winter Edge shoes and if the Kia is anywhere near my drive, it'll be flawless. We had some rain and a sudden drop to -20°C and hell froze over. Every street in my neighbourhood was pure ice. No problemo to report regarding traction.
Hello from the west coast! I have an EV6 on preorder at my local dealership. The one question I want to know is if the 19" wheels give a better range than 20". I've read that you get up to 15% range on smaller tires. Would like to know if the different tire sizes make a difference
You need a GoPro mounted to the sunroof for these videos! I'm still torn between the EV6 and Ioniq 5. Can't wait to see a side-by-side comparison. Mostly curious what the step in height is like. I understand they're a bit lower than my Santa Cruz ... which is perfect for me, about a half inch to an inch higher than my wife would like. (But she's almost a foot shorter than I am, so that makes sense.) Really like the look of both, for different reasons though. That matte finish paint looks cool, but I hear the care and maintenance can be a little less forgiving than regular base/clear paint. Any special treatment the matte finish needs?
Regenerative braking doesn’t work on snow mode because resistance on the wheels, if you were on snow and ice, could easily cause the wheels to break traction which could lead to a big case of dead popsicles in a ditch. 😜
Two major problems for my EV6 in snowy conditions: 1: radar is blocked within minutes due to the low position of the radar in the front bumper. 2. Braking is horrible. It blocks way to fast, pedal is way to sensitive. Before you know the car is in a almost uncontrollable braking slide.
I was told that because of the weight of the car from the battery, you don’t need AWD and it handles great in winter with all season tires. I was also told that an AWD use up the battery faster. Is that correct?
Does anyone "need" AWD? If a heavy car begins to slide, it takes a LOT to stop or steer it. Think of how long it takes to stop a train, or steer a ship. AWD is great for giving more opportunity to grip, maintain, or regain traction. It's up to you if that's worth it to you, but yes, the longest range AWD model is rated for 441 kilometers, while the longest range RWD model is rated for 499 kilometers of range.
No. The K5 system would be similar to that Kia Seltos. In that system the front and rear wheels can be connected by a physicial drivetrain. In this EV, there is only an electronic connection between front and back wheels, and no drive shaft connecting them.
I think that’s right in a car without advanced traction controls etc. But in this car, and in other cars, the vehicle is designed to follow what the steering wheel is doing. Defaulting to allow some understeer is a programmed in setting in many vehicles to give some predictability. Allowing some oversteer can help rotate the car to where the steering wheel is trying to go. It’s possible that my descriptions in this video aren’t as accurate as they could be, but I can tell you that the precision of the traction aids is better in this EV than any gasoline or PHEV model that I’ve driven in the snow from Kia. This car works well in the snow.
There isn't, but I can confirm that it's the area BELOW the window that gets dirty. It seems like that lip spoiler above the rear logo changes the airflow to help keep the window clear but the rear of the car dirty in poor conditions.
Yes. I'll do a better job of explaining that in a future video, but I didn't realize that the paddle wouldn't do anything. I assumed it would only bring things to level 1.
The Ioniq 5 is going to be VERY similar. The issue that we're now facing is we've likely received our last snowfall of the season here. If it snows again, I'll try to get out in one and get it on video.

Can you expand on the comment? So if range shows 400km, and you run heat and radio, the dash will show 350km? I drive an EV6 every day - I'm going to try that on a cold day.
Merci, bonne revue dans la neige!

Thanks, Peter!
Damn looks good in this color!
Are they all AWD? I have a 2024
Thanks! Can we use SAE-S snow cables with the AWD?
Please do a test with the RWD in the snow. I realize I'll need snow tires with RWD but how will it handle overall. Keep up the great vids!

Handling will be no different, the only advantage awd has is accelerating. Braking, handling…. Doesn’t change because of awd.
Great video, does the EV6 take special tires or any well known brand 235/55R19 101H ?

i thought eco mode disengaged the front motor
I thought so too. Maybe it re-engages the front only if the rear start slipping?
I’m going to do a video about this in the near future explaining how everything works.
It looks good in the snow!
What is the stock all season tyres?
Will you be doing gv60 soon?
Can you test the DC fast charging to see if the battery coldgates?
It does. Look at Bjorn's videos. It's still not bad at charging when it is.
Is your car AWD or RWD? I have RWD and wondering if snow mode is effective.

I’m not sure but I think eco mode is on front our rear drive only
Very interesting that there is no (paddle?) regenerative braking in Snow mode; but that paddle regenerative braking does work Eco mode!

limited-slip diff in this model?
Do you think 🤔 next year version will have a back window wiper at least as an option ?
You don't need one.
What about rear wheel drive?
We haven't had a RWD EV6 hit our lot yet. & Unfortunately we have no more snow. :(
Over steer and under steer are directly related to how fast or slow you turn into the corner.

yeah..no regen in snow mode...safety feature.
Snow Mode can set regen braking to 0 - 1 only.
