Yes, I keep all the ribbon! I keep a flat iron to do the job rather than a curling iron. I also have a Dritz Petite Press iron for tiny pressing jobs...it us a great tool! Also, a flat iron is great for quickly refreshing your drapes while they hang, just iron the hems out. It's also great for a quick press for your shirt collars before you walk out the door!
I do save ribbon. I will tie a tail of it to a magnifying glass, a key, small stuff that can get lost in clutter. I see the ribbon pattern and reclaim the item! I broke a Fiskars paper trimmer, but I have a great big old fashioned one with a nasty, scary blade and a great grid on it. It seems to be as big as a sheet of scrapbooking paper. My glue gun is about 20 years old or more. It is an Aleene's model in a carrying case with several tips. I have to admit I did not use it for about 15 years, but it fired right up when I was ready to craft again! I enjoyed your video, again!
@@roxannepratt5187 Thank you, I really do save and use that from people I love, although I use other ribbon and saved ribbon too. We have the same initials, reversed!
My glue gun is 25+ years, well at least the oldest one. For us glitter girls you've got to try the Gelly Roll stardust gel pens in sparkling clear glitter. A tiny nib and just a perfect addition anywhere. Fun video. Yes, please do a video on glue, new items come out so quick I feel like I'm a little behind.
Wow Amazing video!! So refreshing. I love watching these types of videos from card makers, crafters, scrapbookers but they tend to recolve around the same items.. I love how your items are unconventional!! And so Smart!!
Norrine. I had to let go of my attic space for a project my husband is working on. I had to put things in big storage containers. I used some blue bags to store blankets and small pillows. My crafts area upstairs now has to merge with my laundry room space. Your videos are so helpful. I do plan to purge extras and stuff I don’t use. My sister is starting a homeschool room, for her daughter who just started preschool. I will be giving her some stuff. I took 5 boxes to the thrift store. They are open now. Thanks so much for sharing your tips on organizing. I’m starting my laundry room project today.
I find it amusing that both you and "Subtle Revelry" by and large recommended the same tool and supplies! Of course, most of them are found in my craft room, too.
I keep ribbons, string, .... 🙋. One of my favourite tools is scissors. I have different ones. For cutting tape, for cutting paper, fussy cutting, etc. Makes it so enjoyable when you have the right scissors ✂️. Awesome video, thank you. 🌻🌻🌻
Love my cricut maker and my joy. So many things to do with them. I have a mini hair flat iron to straighten out my ribbons. Love the food scraper idea. I have a small medium and large glue gun I use for different things. Love your butcher paper on the table idea.
I use my flat iron instead of a curling iron for my ribbon and paper. I create and design handmade journals and dye a lot of paper which leaves it crinkled. I hate to iron and I saw this trick several months ago and it works great! Plus it means I can iron my paper on an as needed basis.
Hi Norene! This is a great video! My 20 yr old just got a criket(sp?) she's having a blast! Yep, she needs a scraper! Thank you! I love all of your tips!
I solved my Ribbon storage problem by hanging them on a Dollar Tree wall hook. They look pretty and are so much easier to use now! Also, you have to try Bearly Art Glue. It's the BEST glue for papercrafting! Dries fast, no warping!
My glue gun finally bit the dust it was a hand me down from my Grandma and The 80s fabric covered photo albums. I literally lost it a month ago 😥, but I'm loving my new gorilla glue gun.
Have you tried the Tim Holtz guillotine cutter, coupled with a Score Buddy! I’ve found both to be much more accurate! I have both cutters that you’ve recommended, and neither are as accurate! As for ribbon scraps, I use paper towel, cardboard rolls for larger ribbon scraps and toilet paper rolls for smaller scraps! And no electricity needed! Only a very small scrap of low tack painters tape is need to keep the scraps adhered on the cardboard rolls! I love your page!!
One of my favorite craft tools is a telescoping magnetic pen. Every time I am die cutting I inevitably drop small dies on the floor and sometimes they like to hide. I just extend the magnet and it finds my missing die with no crawling on the floor.
Thanks for sharing your list. I have the same fiskars trimmer and it burns my biscuits because I reached out to fiskars about the wearing off. They had the nerve to say it was my fault. I actually have 2 and both wore off. Yours wore off too and now they the measurements under a protective covering. That definitely tells me it was a design flaw not wear and tear
Hi Norrine. I do keep all bits of ribbon or twine or anything that ties a present or a purchase. The problem is I rarely use ribbon now on my cards (am trying different styles) so I've got a big box full 😅. I dont have a curling iron but have a hair straightener that works great too. I also use a food scraper but I chose a silicone one and use it often when spreading pastes over stencils ❤
Hello I use my glue gun and glue dot and pop dots as well in my projects. I also have Tear and tape (double sided tape) but I may try spray adhesive. Great idea, Thanks.
I am so borrowing the curling iron with wrinkled ribbon. ! I have always used my steamer to straighten ribbon. Maybe I'll try my old hair straightener too. Thank you for the terrific idea.
Love the butcher block paper hack. I have stored my paper scraps almost the same way for years now and by habit, always check it first before cutting a new piece of paper. Will definitely be getting one of those scrappers, loved that idea. My hot glue gun that I had for 25 years died, and must have bought 4 now to try and find one I like almost as good. I am currently using the Surebonder, but it's still not as good as my old gun was. I didn't know old glue sticks could go bad, so learned something today. Can't wait for your glue video.
I enjoyed this video. The one thing that all of us crafters have in common is that we love our tools. I have the majority of the same tools that you highlighted. In my arsenal you'll also find the Crop-A-Dile Big Bite as well as the punch and eyelet setter. My go to adhesive is glitter glue...more so than my glue gun which is in a drawer ready to be used at a moments notice because it is the Queen of the adhesives. And I can't tell you how much fabric and lace as well as ribbon and trim I have in my collection. I'm so glad that I amassed my collection because when Covid-19 hit... I was completely fine...in my element with all of the things that I needed to continue my crafting uninterrupted.
I have a cropadile and you reminded me what it’s used for. I’ve had it for years, but when I went to unpack boxes for my new room, I came across it. I never remember to do a search and figure out how to use it. Lol. So, thank ou very much!
I have had the aleene’s glue gun with interchangeable tips since the day it premiered!! Love it and would die if it croaked!! Probably 20 plus years must have!!
To straighten my ribbon I use flat iron I purchased at Goodwill for $2.00. I loved my Cricut Expression. Sold it a couple of years ago to offset the cost of purchasing my Cricut Explorer Air 2 which I use all the time. I purchased the Cricut Joy a couple of months ago. I really love the Joy. I use it when I need to cut out small items.
Yes I also save ribbon. Thank you for the great tip with the curling iron I’ll be bringing that into my craft room that is my garage also Looking forward to your next video
Hi norrine! Great video. My favourite crafty item is my brother scan n cut. I think it’s in the US too. That a a great idea with the 12x12 papers. I have so many and a lot of A5 storage boxes! See you soon xx
I have so many dies so my die cut machine is my 'have to have'. At this point , I'm not investing in a Cricut but instead, I am purchasing Amazon gift cards until I have enough to buy a Gemini Jr. I only have a mini die cut machine right now. Then I will do the same for a Cropadile II and then a 12 x 12 score board as I only have a mini of those as well. I absolutely LOVE your curling iron idea for ribbon. Thanks for this video ! I so look forward to your videos!!
Another great video.....I use a wide rubber bands to hold the bar of my cutter down when not in use. I'll have to look up those cricut videos...I rarely use my cricut .... Great idea for curling iron.......
I recently retired my old glue gun. It was so old it was before there was a high/low temp. I have a new one and can't imagine how I survived all these years without the different temps.
Another great tutorial. I remember the tutorial you did on the paper organizing and I shared with you then. That same week I found them on clearance at hobby lobby for such a good price....I bought them all. I sorted and not only was it a great idea...it cut down on ALL those small containers ( your previous post😊) sitting on my shelf. I used a file crate and it keeps them organized. If I’m cutting a project and have to stop, I put all the pieces in a sleeve to keep tidy till next time! All the ideas were very good.....I keep a rolling pin in my supply area for times when I have large glued paper projects.....works so well. Still working on my office area......going to organize my shelves like you did with the handles on the file boxes you have behind you. I’ll review that post and get my supplies for that project together. Definitely looking forward to sharing on your Facebook page. I always take before during and after pics of all my projects. As always enjoyed your tutorial today and looking forward to watching the post about the different glues 😊 🥰🌹🥰
To answer your first question, yes I keep ribbon from packaging. I love the curling iron idea, though I never would have guessed you had one until I realized I too have curly hair and had a large curling iron for the Farrah look. As for the second question. My first glue gun was a Craftsman purchased at Sears because the craft stores hadn't caught on yet. I'm guessing that was 35 years or so ago. It came with wood-glue sticks. I have many non typical tools I use in crafting and sewing. Two of my favorites are meant for contractors. I have four metal yard sticks and a large metal T-Square that I use to measure and cut larger pieces of fabric or foamcore. Believe it or not, I've had a Silhouette (Cameo 2) for almost five years and have yet to hook it up and use it. I know, shameful.
@@TheCraftyOrganizer That doesn't surprise me, Norrine. We have a lot in common. I'm always cross using things from one craft to the other. Though I still have my T-square from art school, it's so old (42 years) that it has a wood base with plastic edges, it's hung on the wall in my Ladies' Parlor turned art studio are decor.
I just got pom pom makers, they are my favorite tool right now, It makes them easier and neater job than using my fingers! I have had my glue gun since I started crafting but it seems sometimes the trigger gets stuck. I collect ribbon even off my happy mail and keep it! I really love the scrapbook paper organizer! Might have to look in how to do that with my setup cause is seems so much easier than putting your scraps away in a different location but still contained! Loving binge watching your videos! Your an inspiration!
Absolutely loved the idea with the butcher paper! I have three favorite paper trimmers small fiskers wired paper trimmer, regular 12in fiskars round blade trimmer and my12 in Cricut trimmer. I just bought a silhouette cutting machine and am learning to use it, I also have a Cricut explore air. I love it too! You always have such great ideas!
do i keep ribbon scrap???lol/ i keep everything.lol. and i absolutely love Jennifer maker, another one is Makers gonna learn. they are amazing. and i i love imgbin. i did the lifetime membership. 30 is a small price to pay for so many images.
Up until two months ago my glue gun was 5+ years old. I broke down and bought the Surebonder cordless as the cord has always been my nemesis lol. On my Xmas wish list - a Cricut & a Crop-a-Dile. Love the curling iron & butcher paper hacks - definitely on my to do list!!!! Started using Image Bin after watching your video (TY). My humble suggestions: Pencil sharpener, Black Mirado Warrior brand #2 pencils, Pentel hi-polymer erasers, My Sweet Petunia 2-pack precision cut-align clear rulers (8" & 15" - they're listed for cardmakers & sewers but I use them for everything), the very fine tip applicator & 2 oz bottle of Art Glitter glue (one time purchase then I refill with Elmer's school glue) and last but not least a $Tree tooth care pack pick (great for those pesky pull pieces of adhesives like foam, labels, etc - my Cricut tool hack lol).
I can't throw away any ribbon. I even cut off the little strips on the inside of clothes (not sure what they're for) and I have big jar of those. They'll come in handy some day! BTW There seems to be some kind of sound on vision hissing noise? Maybe it's my laptop, not sure.
When purchasing a glue gun, look for one with a stand, its safer to use. Also, if you are using a high heat gun, look for a tip that is metal (copper is best) with silicone around it, not plastic. I see so many glue guns with burn marks around the top casing...how is that safe?!?! Also, if you sometimes use high heat and sometimes low, get 2 different guns rather than one marketed for both...they really don't work as well and you aren't saving an money really.
I've had my glue gun since 1970! It just gave up the ghost. How to you attached the broom to the end of your table for holding butcher paper? Also, I do save ribbon scraps.
I love my glue gun but I love my E6000 glue more. Just don't like the smell. I do also came scrap ribbon for use later. Happy you showed how to iron it out. Loving your channel, hope to meet you come day. Can you do a tutorial on card making? Please? Also what is the purpose of glitter hot glue?
I LOVE my silicone pad when I’m gluing paper products! Also my glue eraser. Do you see a pattern here? LOL. Your video got me thinking… Have you tried using your CropADile to extract small sections out of your dimensional adhesive? That way you still have the big piece, as well as, smaller pieces that can be used for smaller areas.
@@TheCraftyOrganizer it worked! I punched a small hole in a large dimensional adhesive, used the little circle, and have the “donut” for the future! Whoo hoo!
Not yet! I've always wanted to play with it!!! Do you have any examples you can email me??? I'd love to share it in my Adhesives video I am making!!!! CallClutterFairy@gmail.com
The Crafty Organizer , I just used it on a couple of cards I made. Alas I’ve already mailed them. And to decide which scrap page I’ve used it on, No idea it dries clear so you don’t see it. The thing with this is you MUST close it as soon as you use it or it will clog in the lid. But, just run warm water and it desolves. A little bit goes a long way. I watch this lady on you tube. She goes by “MayMay made it so can you”.She has a shop ( small business) I’ve ordered from her before she does mostly cards. Some of her crafts are really good. I would love to send you what I’ve done I can make another card real quick. But, I’m not tech savvy at all and have no idea how to attach to an email🤦🏽♀️. Be well be blessed. And I so enjoy your videos.
I do not use the butcher paper go to the local news paper and ask if you can buy on end roll. an end roll is new paper with no print on it. i use it for all kinds of things!!
Norrine, I have been watching your videos for a while now. Lately binge watching. Yesterday a light bulb went off while watching this one in particular. I happened to get the opportunity to go to a Dollar Tree not to far from me and they actually had the bins and black and white contact paper. I had been going to Dollar Tree after dollar tree thinking it was hopeless. I even went to some that were in Chicago thinking gee they have to have things here. Then here it was in my backyard all along. Now I have the big bins. All that being said here is my question: If you sub-category in those bins, do you think just using quart or snack sized zip locs will work?
Well, this is another that HAD to go on my favorites list! I am very anxious to see your adhesive video. As I've been sorting through my boxes of stuff to reorganize my sewing room I've found I have doubles of some glues and others I'd forgotten I had, so MANY! We bought a rolled sheet of copper metal to create a backsplash behind our stove. I plan to create a template before attempting to cut the copper but can't figure out how to attach it. If at some point in the future we want to remove it, I don't want to destroy the drywall taking it off, so glue is out. What would you suggest? As always, thank you for sharing your vast wealth of knowledge and skills with us peons!
Oh..... I'd use the Velcro command strips!!!! Attach the wall side as directed, but attach the other side to the copper with E6000 or Gorilla Glue. Let dry BEFORE you attach to the wall. This will give a super strong hold AND allow you to easily remove when needed.
@@TheCraftyOrganizer Hmmm. That might work! But I'll have to be careful when cleaning it so I don't bend it. It's not very thick. It will be tricky to cut, but it will make a beautiful addition to the kitchen. I'll send you pictures when we get it done! Thank you for the suggestion!!!!!
Great crafting tips thank you
You are so welcome!

As always enjoyed your tutorial today and looking forward to watching the post about the different glues 😊
🥰🌹🥰
I can't wait to see your area. xoxoxo
I love that!!!! I have a big contractor style ruler for cutting too!!!!
I’ve had one of my glue guns 20+ years
What brand is your glue gun??? That is amazing!
Thanks, Kaila!
I love the scrapbook paper organizer, too.
I so so want a cricket!
Black Friday!!!!! And people seems to not use them, so try a 2nd hand machine!
@@TheCraftyOrganizer I cant really afford one. I struggle living on less than 900/mo.
@@malibu920408 I'll keep an eye out. I've had a few clients get rid of them. ♡
@@TheCraftyOrganizer oh my goodness Thank You!!
Thanks, Creative Chica!
When ever I have birthday cards with ribbon on them, I take them off or when it comes to presents with ribbon 🎀🎗🎗🎀🎋 I keep them and use them.
Love that!
Fiskars has a lifetime guarantee! They replaced my small gillotine trimmer twice.
I love that!!!!
Yes I save ribbon so you're not alone! I use my glue gun for a lot.
do i keep ribbon scrap???lol/ i keep everything.lol. and i absolutely love Jennifer maker, another one is Makers gonna learn. they are amazing. and i i love imgbin. i did the lifetime membership. 30 is a small price to pay for so many images.
Right??? Why would I even try to explain something that's already perfectly done! Glad I'm not alone with the ribbon. Thanks, Lisa!
My humble suggestions:
Pencil sharpener, Black Mirado Warrior brand #2 pencils, Pentel hi-polymer erasers, My Sweet Petunia 2-pack precision cut-align clear rulers (8" & 15" - they're listed for cardmakers & sewers but I use them for everything), the very fine tip applicator & 2 oz bottle of Art Glitter glue (one time purchase then I refill with Elmer's school glue) and last but not least a $Tree tooth care pack pick (great for those pesky pull pieces of adhesives like foam, labels, etc - my Cricut tool hack lol).
Great suggestions!!!!! True - a cordless glue gun would make certain jobs SOOOO much easier!!!! Thanks for the great feedback. 😘
Awesome ideas ❤️😀
I can't throw away any ribbon. I even cut off the little strips on the inside of clothes (not sure what they're for) and I have big jar of those. They'll come in handy some day! BTW There seems to be some kind of sound on vision hissing noise? Maybe it's my laptop, not sure.
I'm pretty sure it was her fan.
Star is right... it was my fan. Sorry!!!!!
@@TheCraftyOrganizer Oh sorry. LOL!
Those thin loops of ribbon in clothing are to secure clothing to the hangers so clothes don't slip off in the closet.
Great info, MissBeans! Thank you!!!
Mine has a stand and I always forget to use it.
I've had my glue gun since 1970! It just gave up the ghost. How to you attached the broom to the end of your table for holding butcher paper? Also, I do save ribbon scraps.
I used a long bungee cord :)
They have E6000 Plus which is odorless now!!!!! I did one video on cardmaking..... ruclips.net/video/ITg_vr4nZyE/видео.html
That is awesome!
I haven’t tried punching a hole in my dimensionals yet. Let me know if it works for you. I’ll have to find this comment if I try it…
@@TheCraftyOrganizer it worked! I punched a small hole in a large dimensional adhesive, used the little circle, and have the “donut” for the future! Whoo hoo!
Love ur videos, Happy New Year!!!
Have you tried art glitter glue? I use on my scrapbooking. Only after I’m committed to positioning. Tfs
I save ribbon whenever I cam
I have had SO many people answer this way that I am now working on a video on fun things to do with ribbon scrap!!!!! LOL
I do not use the butcher paper go to the local news paper and ask if you can buy on end roll. an end roll is new paper with no print on it. i use it for all kinds of things!!
GENIUS!!!!!
TFS😊💜 CAN you please share where you got the handles that you have on the magazine files
Hi, Tohona! It was an easy DIY project!!! Here's how I added my handles: ruclips.net/video/YyFKa7_LLB4/видео.html
Absolutely!!!! And so will small pencil boxes. Keep things single layer as much as possible and you will have easy access to everything!
I had one glue gun for about 20 years before it kicked the bucket!
I think I've had mine since the early 90's! LOL
Save ribbon? Of course!
LOL Right?!?! What was I asking. ;)
