I really like this video. I have so many binders in various widths and sizes! I began using them to organize when I was teaching my children at home. Each subject had a color. I invested in the plastic pocket dividers because I could use the colors to coordinate with each subject. I also use them for organizing patterns and project ideas.

My 8 letter tray tower is actually full of thin boxes that fill the size of the tray. Except one shelf, holding a lazy susan & tiny jars of supplies. Another is a rectangular candy tin from peppermint bark (washi tape)
Right now the boxes contain craft supplies or unfinished projects. But it makes accessing the products inside easier because I don't have to move a stack of containers to get to the bottom one. I just pull it out from its shelf.
(Dress shirt size gift boxes might fit. The fancy paper covered boxes from craft stores with the magnetic flap in all sizes, also make one size that fits nicely.
Mine were flip flop boxes a store was tossing out. It's kinda accidental storage, the trays were tossed out by a dr office remodel. I planned to toss all of it when I move, but it's so functional I'm having a hard time. I decoupaged most of the boxes. For an up-cycled project it looks great & is very functional.

Tackle it a little at a time and you will begin to see progress in no time! Also, take before and after pictures each time. Thanks so much for making this video! It feels like you are in my head...I think of something, and shortly thereafter you make a great video on how to do it. Keep them coming, you can see we all appreciate them and you as well. I LOVE binders for organizing. Really like using sheet protectors as dividers. I too feel the “need” to touch/hand write some things. Seems to mentally “stick” a lot better. I also use a binder for medical...includes doctors orders, medications prescribed/taking (and when), doctor’s address info and if new doc., short info on why I am seeing. I can easily carry to a new doctor and share any relevant info by turning pages. Also works for dentist, etc. It can save time, and give valuable info to emergency personnel if you are unable to verbally provide it. TFS (Sims)

I like to use file folders for dividers for my binders. You can cut them to the size that works best, punch holes in them (I put packing tape across to reinforce them). They are sturdier than typical dividers, super inexpensive and you can write all over them.

    affordability & aesthetics
    customizable
    efficiency
    simplicity
I'm a tactile person too and need to see a good amount of my stuff in my creative/business space. Concealed areas are fine for some things but day-to-day and/or color (like markers, cardstock, etc.) I like visible. My only variation in the binder usage is bills, need to review, need to respond categories - I use wall pockets for those.

Each one has a sleeve in a couple D ring binders. One for appliences both large and small. The large house systems like HVAC, water heater and outside stuff (garage and yard) in another binder. Boy they come in handy when repairs or replacements are needed.

I think for what you do working on paper is a lot easier than using a tablet... but what you can do is scan your paperwork into the computer after the the job is finished. You could keep the files in a different location or just shred them. Having a paper copy is nice and for some hard to let go of but keeping boxes of files can be so over whelming.
I love this tab version. You're right, buying tabs can be so expensive for something so simple lol. My desk is need of this kind of attention at the moment so thank you for the ideas and the push in the right direction :D

Thank you so much for your work on RUclips.
For one, it fits to me because I too love crafting and having the supplies I need for it.
Secondly it helps me feel a little less like a failure. I know everyone has to work on themselves, but I'm really having a hard time with everything in the house, since my husband and I both suffer from mental health conditions that drain us and make it so hard to get organized...
Thirdly, it gives helpful tips and inspirations abd again, it feels so nice 'being taught' by a fellow crafter who knows a crafter's weaknesses in that field ;)
And forth(ly?), your calm voice/personality/explanation also helps just being more confident in myself, kinda like a friend or a mother talking lovingly is giving you comfort. I wish you all the best!

The method your using seems expensive/counterproductive/you need to keep ALLOT of clutter/crap, to do it this way, so you need, paper, folders, dividers, notebooks, printers, ink, stamps envelopes, TIME/no E-mail/PDFs/servers.
      More info:
Tablets/Laptops/desktops/a phone, is the solution lol, if you need a stylus get one, as well lol, not NECESSARILY needed, but, it MAY make you feel better.
Storing this much paper/any paper, seems counterproductive, thats what storage drives are for, burn it all/well the responsible thing to do, is shred them and then recycle them, but /IF you need to scan it all, into a computer, back things up though/on flash drives/external hardrives and so on, also ALL OF THIS, CAN BE STORED ON YOUR PHONE/in one TINY device.
Also NOW DAYS, you can just start typing what your looking for, in a search box, and it will just pop, right up/no more annoying days of Windows 95/XP/Vista, those type search systems, are a thing of the past, luckily.
Also ALL of those manuals have PDFs, I have those on my phone/I've backed those up as well, you can just search for them online, they are easy to find too.
Also notes can be taken on your phone/and all of your notes/info you need, will ALWAYS be with you as well.
Also you can carrie tons and tons of books, IF they are digital/PDFs, same with music, granted now we MOSTLY stream music, with Pandora/Spotify.
LOL your acting like an old person lol
Sentimental things are different, but the rest is a waste of time and space.
Some more examples, of how we live in a digital world.
Also ALLOT of things can't even be purchased, with out digital/EVERYTHING can't be purchased with cash. MEANING COD/POD, isn't even a thing anymore/DEFINITELY not available for everything/its not used, like it used to be.
Cash is helpful, to avoid paying tax though, under the table jobs and also for survival/when systems are down, but sales tax is MOST LIKELY going to be an ISSUE REGARDLESS, UNLESS, MAYBE, IF you have access to a military base/some other way to avoid SOME tax.
I know I keep ALLOT of cash in my safe, along with physical books, blurays and so on, but I also keep/use digital items, MOST of the time, such as PDFs,Digital movies, games and music.
Keeping birth certificates/social security cards and pictures, of everyone in your family, SHOULD suffice, for the JUST IN CASE, but even your license, now days, can be renewed, through an app.
Anyway physical paper, is becoming less and less needed.
It doesn't surprise me though, that EVERYTHING'S going digital/Sears,Kmart,Hifi buy,Sports authority, Toys R Us and SOON GameStop, ALREADY figured this out, the hard way, but they did FINALLY figure this out.
Walmarts figuring this out as well/using doordash/having memberships/monthly services, that allow you to get unlimited deliveries, Walmart stores are KIND OF turning into warehouses.
Anyway we now have hardrives,SSDs,Flashdrives, servers, no need for MASSIVE filing cabinets, ANYMORE, nor massive calculators, paper calendars, paper, envelopes, for paper/things that can be sent by/via E-mail, no need for, stamps, printers, ink, checks and so on, ALL of these things, are obsolete/they are going away.
Now we can just log into the server, vs having to take/go get that one piece of paper, that is miles away/we also use e-mail vs USPS.
Also we use debit/credit cards now vs checks, we don't get our bills mailed to us anymore/we have auto pay/we pay through apps. We bank through apps now vs through physical banks, we do on OCCASION, use ATMS, but even checks can be deposited, by taking a pic of them, through an app, direct deposit is available, ANYWAY we now do things MUCH more simply/efficiently/effectively.
This is probably WRONG, but I burn all the paper I receive, wrong as in, recycling, is what you/we should do, but honestly, I think physical mail, FROM COMPANIES, SHOULD BE BANNED, individuals sending each other a Bithday/Christmas card, is okay, but other JUNK MAIL, should not be sent to people.
Atleast with email, MOST things, get sent directly, to the spam folder/box, also what gets through, CAN BE BLOCKED, MANUALLY, AND ITS NOT REALLY REAL/it has no consequence, other than bandwith.
Honestly ALL trash services SHOULD be required, to recycle/all trash facilities, SHOULD HAVE a SORTER/SOMETHING/a machine that automatically sorts the trash/it gets dumped in and then its sorted.
Anyway paper is a waste of time and space, especially when everything can be stored on storage devices and easily emailed/found, when need be.
Something you can invest in/things that are helpful, NOW that you've gotten rit of all the paper, is more monitors.
When I work, I use 3 monitors/I have two 42inch monitors and one 27inch monitor, in every setup I have, but being able to see more on screen, is really helpful, when working/getting things done.

This would be a good way to catalog monthly expenses. Each page protector could be for each bill. Every month pull out the old bill and shred and put the new bill in the protector. I keep a list and calendar of when things are due in the same binder.
Also a good system to keep track of car and home expenses/warranties.

Hi Norrine, greetings from Down Under. Loved this video. I am a real paper person, too. Thank you for the tip of using dry eraser pens on the front of folders. I would never have thought to do that. Also love the way you did the spines on the folders so it formed your logo. Your colour scheme is so calming, even down to your stationery and pens. I love using my computer for things like this. I work in an office and there are things that I have to make sure get done everyday, and then there are special projects that I work on as well. I was using a spiral notebook and writing things down as I was doing them so that If I needed a reminder at some point I could look back and see if it was done or not. That got a bit old, writing these things down, so I went to my word document and typed in the things that I had to do consistently....Like run reports and how many emails I was working through....I have a section for notes for things I need to remember or something that I might need to work on next....it's easy to say....Oh I will get to that, but once you have been interrupted several times, you may forget or get sucked into a new project. So it's helpful to have that reminder. Also, I run checks on Friday, and the jobs rotate within the dept. so its nice to see who my check runner is, or who is working the Canadian cash requirements... I have a check off section for each process for that check run, and it's easier to stay on task. I absolutely love it. I print out 5 sheets on Monday morning so that I have them through out the week. I was doing it directly on my computer, but something would happen and I would forget to save....you know the drill. I use my Excel to make Happy Planner pages that work for me also. Once you figure out your template, it's a breeze.
I have a virtual filing cabinet on my computer at home, which I back up to a separate storage device. I scan pet documents, health insurance forms, anything for my car....just papers I want to have in the event I need to refer back to them....the icon on the desktop says File Cabinet, and when you click on it, you have folders labeled like you would with an actual file cabinet. It has really worked well and helps keep paper off of my desk....And if I do need vet reports for my pets, I can just print them off.

Denise - you are so like me!!!! My first big promotion came from me playing with a mac that wasn't being used. (in the mid 80's) I was sick and tired of typing out invoices every day - as they were almost all the same! Once I figured that mac out - invoices took minutes instead of all day!!!! The owner thought I was amazing. Truth was I just wanted the work done faster! LOL You also touched on one of my next videos! Computer file setup! Thanks for watching and rocking your paperwork!
