I am a touch my paper kinda gal. Real books, writing checks, addressing and stamping envelopes. Making lists, handwriting notes and letters. Love all things stationary
When I made up a monthly budget form, I just put it in a sheet protector and used dry erase markers. Then for the next month I wipe it clean and start over.
The Plague of Piles. 😱 I know it well. I love this idea for containment! Thank you for sharing. Your tab life hack solves an issue I have had for years as well.
I really like this video. I have so many binders in various widths and sizes! I began using them to organize when I was teaching my children at home. Each subject had a color. I invested in the plastic pocket dividers because I could use the colors to coordinate with each subject. I also use them for organizing patterns and project ideas.
@@rpkent8884 I also have patterns that are printed on letter sized sheets for quilting and crochet. I have also put crochet/quilting magazines in the binders.

I love organizing and I make labels for everything using MS Word. I was totally blown away with how you used “tables” to create your tabs. It would be incredible if you could to a tutorial and teach us more please! 🤞
Ahhhhh....now you have me looking at that space on my desk where the letter tray sits. It would look way tidier if I took that away and put binders in there. I buy page protectors by the case...binders too for my research projects. Thanks, Norrine!! Genious!

Thanks so much for making this video! It feels like you are in my head...I think of something, and shortly thereafter you make a great video on how to do it. Keep them coming, you can see we all appreciate them and you as well. I LOVE binders for organizing. Really like using sheet protectors as dividers. I too feel the “need” to touch/hand write some things. Seems to mentally “stick” a lot better. I also use a binder for medical...includes doctors orders, medications prescribed/taking (and when), doctor’s address info and if new doc., short info on why I am seeing. I can easily carry to a new doctor and share any relevant info by turning pages. Also works for dentist, etc. It can save time, and give valuable info to emergency personnel if you are unable to verbally provide it. TFS (Sims)
I love that I keep meeting your needs!!!! That is so awesome! Great use of the binders for medical things!!!! So easy to take and have quick reference!!!! Just make sure you have a copy - it would be horrible to lose that valuable info! Take photos of each page on your phone/with a camera, at the very least. Thank you so much for watching. xoxo
Since I found your videos, I am learning so much and am truly inspired. I am viewing more than one a day of your videos to apply all that you show us. This video has been very helpful as well. I have to write down everything I am going to do or comes to me as an idea I may want to explore. I make list (and put a lot on my calendar; they help me "keep on tract" (when I follow this). I still need to remind myself when days get too busy or I am tired to follow through. Thanks again. God bless
I totally have to touch my papers too. I am trying to get better about using an electronic system. I love your binder system with the customized pages. Thanks for sharing
That reminds me! I’ve been lost without my yearly Mollie Makes wall calendar & and have not been able to find one that I love as much to replace it (not sure if they did one this year, have not been successful in my search 😕)
I like to use file folders for dividers for my binders. You can cut them to the size that works best, punch holes in them (I put packing tape across to reinforce them). They are sturdier than typical dividers, super inexpensive and you can write all over them.
Thank you so much for this video! Your timing couldn't have been better! I'm really struggling to manage papers. I also am a "hard copy girl". I would really like to learn more. Your idea of using the page protectors as dividers was brilliant! Thank you! 👍😊
I print things out, too. Even my online classes. Then I have a Manila folder for each thing. Online class, Theater information, Reading & Language information, others as needed. If I need them later, I will put them in binders. If I don't need them, I recycle the paper and put a blank folder label and put it in my empty folders section.
It meets my "ACES" criteria lol: affordability & aesthetics customizable efficiency simplicity I'm a tactile person too and need to see a good amount of my stuff in my creative/business space. Concealed areas are fine for some things but day-to-day and/or color (like markers, cardstock, etc.) I like visible. My only variation in the binder usage is bills, need to review, need to respond categories - I use wall pockets for those. BTW - love the CCF pens 😉 💙😉 Have a great day!!!
I use a binder system for a couple things. The biggest, all of my household appliances and systems I keep their owner manuals with the receipt stapled to it. It he.ps with warranties. Each one has a sleeve in a couple D ring binders. One for appliences both large and small. The large house systems like HVAC, water heater and outside stuff (garage and yard) in another binder. Boy they come in handy when repairs or replacements are needed.
I think for what you do working on paper is a lot easier than using a tablet... but what you can do is scan your paperwork into the computer after the the job is finished. You could keep the files in a different location or just shred them. Having a paper copy is nice and for some hard to let go of but keeping boxes of files can be so over whelming. I love this tab version. You're right, buying tabs can be so expensive for something so simple lol. My desk is need of this kind of attention at the moment so thank you for the ideas and the push in the right direction :D
You are so right, Victoria! Thanks for this great reminder!!! I've been wanted to do a video on easy ways to digitize - I might have to move it up! Keep me posted on how your desk project goes! I'm rooting for you!
Love this! I would also appreciate a Word & Excel tutorial. I'm ok on Word, but know there is SO much more I could do with excel. I am SO in need or getting organizing done. Also, prayers going up for all you in CA , OR & WA with all the fires going on. Be safe!
Thank you Betty!!!! We are safe where I am. But the skies are scary and there is ash everywhere. It makes me sad knowing how many have lost their homes. I will begin working on those videos. Stay safe!
Thank you so much for your work on RUclips. For one, it fits to me because I too love crafting and having the supplies I need for it. Secondly it helps me feel a little less like a failure. I know everyone has to work on themselves, but I'm really having a hard time with everything in the house, since my husband and I both suffer from mental health conditions that drain us and make it so hard to get organized... Thirdly, it gives helpful tips and inspirations abd again, it feels so nice 'being taught' by a fellow crafter who knows a crafter's weaknesses in that field ;) And forth(ly?), your calm voice/personality/explanation also helps just being more confident in myself, kinda like a friend or a mother talking lovingly is giving you comfort. I wish you all the best!
You're not alone. I also have stacks of papers on my work table. Funny thing I had these stacks at my work office and was told to clean it up to go digital. But now since the Pandemic I am working from home. Now no one can see my stacks or say anything. Hey, it works to keep up with all the deadlines I have to meet. Whatever works for you, is good. As long as your business is going forward, which I see it does through your helpful video. God bless you!
your video was great, thank you for sharing and I wish you the best on your upcoming adventure that you can not talk about at this time, I love all of your organizing tips, they are tips I can afford. God Bless and stay safe..
Love it when paperwork is organized! When I was working I had my desk set up in a way that everything was easily accessible and it made my job just that little bit easier! Now my craft room is a different story, lol. I'm constantly organizing and re-organizing mostly because I find a new craft I want to do then I have to get supplies for that project and where do I keep it all! You always seem to have a video that I can go back to when I'm really stuck on organizing something and I thank you for that!
Crafting is a whole different thing! When I craft - everything is everywhere! You'd think it was a crime scene! LOL sometimes I'll walk away and when I come back it scares me! "who did this?!?!? Oh, yeah.... me!" 😆😊
I tidied up my desk area today too. It's in my Ladies' Parlor Art Studio so no bills or business stuff anymore. I'm retired. It got a bit messy while I was doing a few paining projects. I have dozens of binders. I use them in my Art Studio for color charts of mediums, to protect color and paintings, and in my sewing/craft room for beads and other small items. I also made up a small one to keep track of hubby's recipes since he does most of the cooking.
@@TheCraftyOrganizer LOL Yes, I am very blessed. His Mom taught him very well. He's the oldest of five so he even knew how to, and did, change diapers. Granted before they came with repositionable tapes, we had to keep a roll of masking tape on the changing table so as not to have to toss holey diapers. He was used to pins. He also cleans, does laundry, and all the guy stuff too. 40 years and it still blows me away how blessed I am.
It's been years I vaguely remember Microsoft and Excell I would like to have a u-tube class!! The tabs are similar to junk journals. Thanks for sharing Norrine 🦋😘🐞🤗🐝🥰
The method your using seems expensive/counterproductive/you need to keep ALLOT of clutter/crap, to do it this way, so you need, paper, folders, dividers, notebooks, printers, ink, stamps envelopes, TIME/no E-mail/PDFs/servers. More info: Tablets/Laptops/desktops/a phone, is the solution lol, if you need a stylus get one, as well lol, not NECESSARILY needed, but, it MAY make you feel better. Storing this much paper/any paper, seems counterproductive, thats what storage drives are for, burn it all/well the responsible thing to do, is shred them and then recycle them, but /IF you need to scan it all, into a computer, back things up though/on flash drives/external hardrives and so on, also ALL OF THIS, CAN BE STORED ON YOUR PHONE/in one TINY device. Also NOW DAYS, you can just start typing what your looking for, in a search box, and it will just pop, right up/no more annoying days of Windows 95/XP/Vista, those type search systems, are a thing of the past, luckily. Also ALL of those manuals have PDFs, I have those on my phone/I've backed those up as well, you can just search for them online, they are easy to find too. Also notes can be taken on your phone/and all of your notes/info you need, will ALWAYS be with you as well. Also you can carrie tons and tons of books, IF they are digital/PDFs, same with music, granted now we MOSTLY stream music, with Pandora/Spotify. LOL your acting like an old person lol Sentimental things are different, but the rest is a waste of time and space. Some more examples, of how we live in a digital world. Also ALLOT of things can't even be purchased, with out digital/EVERYTHING can't be purchased with cash. MEANING COD/POD, isn't even a thing anymore/DEFINITELY not available for everything/its not used, like it used to be. Cash is helpful, to avoid paying tax though, under the table jobs and also for survival/when systems are down, but sales tax is MOST LIKELY going to be an ISSUE REGARDLESS, UNLESS, MAYBE, IF you have access to a military base/some other way to avoid SOME tax. I know I keep ALLOT of cash in my safe, along with physical books, blurays and so on, but I also keep/use digital items, MOST of the time, such as PDFs,Digital movies, games and music. Keeping birth certificates/social security cards and pictures, of everyone in your family, SHOULD suffice, for the JUST IN CASE, but even your license, now days, can be renewed, through an app. Anyway physical paper, is becoming less and less needed. It doesn't surprise me though, that EVERYTHING'S going digital/Sears,Kmart,Hifi buy,Sports authority, Toys R Us and SOON GameStop, ALREADY figured this out, the hard way, but they did FINALLY figure this out. Walmarts figuring this out as well/using doordash/having memberships/monthly services, that allow you to get unlimited deliveries, Walmart stores are KIND OF turning into warehouses. Anyway we now have hardrives,SSDs,Flashdrives, servers, no need for MASSIVE filing cabinets, ANYMORE, nor massive calculators, paper calendars, paper, envelopes, for paper/things that can be sent by/via E-mail, no need for, stamps, printers, ink, checks and so on, ALL of these things, are obsolete/they are going away. Now we can just log into the server, vs having to take/go get that one piece of paper, that is miles away/we also use e-mail vs USPS. Also we use debit/credit cards now vs checks, we don't get our bills mailed to us anymore/we have auto pay/we pay through apps. We bank through apps now vs through physical banks, we do on OCCASION, use ATMS, but even checks can be deposited, by taking a pic of them, through an app, direct deposit is available, ANYWAY we now do things MUCH more simply/efficiently/effectively. This is probably WRONG, but I burn all the paper I receive, wrong as in, recycling, is what you/we should do, but honestly, I think physical mail, FROM COMPANIES, SHOULD BE BANNED, individuals sending each other a Bithday/Christmas card, is okay, but other JUNK MAIL, should not be sent to people. Atleast with email, MOST things, get sent directly, to the spam folder/box, also what gets through, CAN BE BLOCKED, MANUALLY, AND ITS NOT REALLY REAL/it has no consequence, other than bandwith. Honestly ALL trash services SHOULD be required, to recycle/all trash facilities, SHOULD HAVE a SORTER/SOMETHING/a machine that automatically sorts the trash/it gets dumped in and then its sorted. Anyway paper is a waste of time and space, especially when everything can be stored on storage devices and easily emailed/found, when need be. Something you can invest in/things that are helpful, NOW that you've gotten rit of all the paper, is more monitors. When I work, I use 3 monitors/I have two 42inch monitors and one 27inch monitor, in every setup I have, but being able to see more on screen, is really helpful, when working/getting things done.
Hi Norrine! Very useful video. You are so organised! You must feel very happy when it’s all tidied away. We are having a 2 day heat wave in the UK , so I have no energy to do anything! Bring back our autumn coolness! Xx
Wow I really like what you did today! I don’t have a clue about excel but I can draw measure and print so this is feasible. It will take some thinking for the divisions and notebook subjects but oh my your desk looks so great! Thank you!
Love your set up! Years ago I set up notebooks for each of my kids and a few other things. I need to do this again because the piles are getting out of hand.
We are trying too sort out for new carpet and everything else in Our Bedroom OMG I didnt know how much clutter We had. I would love to be sorting through my paperwork at the moment (recipes & card/crafting & fabric and much much more) lol lol. See you soon huggssss xx smiles
Great video. I am also a paper and pen person. It's refreshing to see real life crazy instead of perfect settings all the time. I stack and lose papers and then organize them for more stacks again. Have tried all sorts of tricks but haven't found a permanent solution to paper piles yet. Am going to try this system again. thank you for all of your great videos.
My desk looks worse and I’m not serving clients! I am a homeschooler though. Thank you for your transparency and great advice! I like to touch my papers too!
I am about to yank my kids out of this thing they are calling school and start homeschooling! You need even quicker access!!!! I'd do file folders in categories! Cereal boxes make great main category boxes to hold files!
This would be a good way to catalog monthly expenses. Each page protector could be for each bill. Every month pull out the old bill and shred and put the new bill in the protector. I keep a list and calendar of when things are due in the same binder. Also a good system to keep track of car and home expenses/warranties.
Hi Norrine, greetings from Down Under. Loved this video. I am a real paper person, too. Thank you for the tip of using dry eraser pens on the front of folders. I would never have thought to do that. Also love the way you did the spines on the folders so it formed your logo. Your colour scheme is so calming, even down to your stationery and pens. Tiffany blue, aqua and teal are my favourite family of colours. Hope you and your family are keeping safe and well. Love from Di 😘💕🇦🇺.
Hi there sorry I've not been on here very much But I'm in the middle of a Major decluttering Myself at the moment. If My husband stits still for too long He will be decluttered as well giggles giggles.
I love using my computer for things like this. I work in an office and there are things that I have to make sure get done everyday, and then there are special projects that I work on as well. I was using a spiral notebook and writing things down as I was doing them so that If I needed a reminder at some point I could look back and see if it was done or not. That got a bit old, writing these things down, so I went to my word document and typed in the things that I had to do consistently....Like run reports and how many emails I was working through....I have a section for notes for things I need to remember or something that I might need to work on next....it's easy to say....Oh I will get to that, but once you have been interrupted several times, you may forget or get sucked into a new project. So it's helpful to have that reminder. Also, I run checks on Friday, and the jobs rotate within the dept. so its nice to see who my check runner is, or who is working the Canadian cash requirements... I have a check off section for each process for that check run, and it's easier to stay on task. I absolutely love it. I print out 5 sheets on Monday morning so that I have them through out the week. I was doing it directly on my computer, but something would happen and I would forget to save....you know the drill. I use my Excel to make Happy Planner pages that work for me also. Once you figure out your template, it's a breeze. I have a virtual filing cabinet on my computer at home, which I back up to a separate storage device. I scan pet documents, health insurance forms, anything for my car....just papers I want to have in the event I need to refer back to them....the icon on the desktop says File Cabinet, and when you click on it, you have folders labeled like you would with an actual file cabinet. It has really worked well and helps keep paper off of my desk....And if I do need vet reports for my pets, I can just print them off.
Denise - you are so like me!!!! My first big promotion came from me playing with a mac that wasn't being used. (in the mid 80's) I was sick and tired of typing out invoices every day - as they were almost all the same! Once I figured that mac out - invoices took minutes instead of all day!!!! The owner thought I was amazing. Truth was I just wanted the work done faster! LOL You also touched on one of my next videos! Computer file setup! Thanks for watching and rocking your paperwork!
ThankU, ThankU for Showing me how to do the Tabs! That's so Cool!! Bless You!😘

That is a great idea, MissBeans! Thanks for sharing!!
This is a brilliant idea and I love the demonstrations. Thanks for sharing x
You are so welcome!
Inspiring - and appreciated
Love this! Now, let's see; 54K plus? Hmm, You're gonna need a bigger folder! LOL!
P.S. Love that you are so caring about your Doggy.
Thanks again.
Baaahahahaha I was thinking cost for my RV... then I realized you were talking about the friend mail. LOL Yes.... I love my puppy very much.
Thank you so much for this video! Your timing couldn't have been better! I'm really struggling to manage papers. I also am a "hard copy girl". I would really like to learn more. Your idea of using the page protectors as dividers was brilliant! Thank you! 👍😊
Glad it was helpful!
Love how you created the tabs, and you care for your doggie, great video take care
Thank you very much!
Excellent information and motivation, so helpful. Wonderful!
Glad it was helpful!
Wonderful, wonderful diy for file tabs!! Love the way you attach them. This will help me sooo much🥰🥰
Glad it was helpful! 🌻
I print things out, too. Even my online classes. Then I have a Manila folder for each thing. Online class, Theater information, Reading & Language information, others as needed. If I need them later, I will put them in binders. If I don't need them, I recycle the paper and put a blank folder label and put it in my empty folders section.
That's a great idea! Sounds like you have great control of your papers! Well done!
Another excellent video! Conquering paper clutter while working at home is a constant struggle for me.
You can do it! Binders are a great alternative if you don't have or want files.
It meets my "ACES" criteria lol:
affordability & aesthetics
customizable
efficiency
simplicity
I'm a tactile person too and need to see a good amount of my stuff in my creative/business space. Concealed areas are fine for some things but day-to-day and/or color (like markers, cardstock, etc.) I like visible. My only variation in the binder usage is bills, need to review, need to respond categories - I use wall pockets for those.
BTW - love the CCF pens 😉 💙😉
Have a great day!!!
I LOVE THAT! And am so glad it met the "ACES" Criteria!
Want one of the pens??
@@TheCraftyOrganizer yes please 😆
You always have the best ideas! Enjoyed this video. Have a great week!
Thank you! You too, Alice!
Great idea, Nannette!
Thirdly, it gives helpful tips and inspirations abd again, it feels so nice 'being taught' by a fellow crafter who knows a crafter's weaknesses in that field ;)
And forth(ly?), your calm voice/personality/explanation also helps just being more confident in myself, kinda like a friend or a mother talking lovingly is giving you comfort. I wish you all the best!
Thank you so much! Let me know if you ever want some help. I can try and find suggestions for you 💛
You're not alone.
It is very different having everything at home now! And, YES!!!!! If it works for you - that really is all that matters 🌻
your video was great, thank you for sharing and I wish you the best on your upcoming adventure that you can not talk about at this time, I love all of your organizing tips, they are tips I can afford. God Bless and stay safe..
Thank you, Luz! You too!
Oh, yeah.... me!" 😆😊
@@TheCraftyOrganizer Oh yes! That's me sometimes! Lol
The sound is great
This is an awesome video. Thank you so much for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yes
Yes I thought I was the only tangible one
Love the spines
I tidied up my desk area today too. It's in my Ladies' Parlor Art Studio so no bills or business stuff anymore. I'm retired. It got a bit messy while I was doing a few paining projects.
I have dozens of binders. I use them in my Art Studio for color charts of mediums, to protect color and paintings, and in my sewing/craft room for beads and other small items. I also made up a small one to keep track of hubby's recipes since he does most of the cooking.
Oh... I would consider dating again if I found a guy who cooked! LOL Lucky you!
Organize Create Decorate that is a wonderful love story!
@@D_Parks Aw, thank you. We are blessed after 40 years to be still crazy about each other.
It's been years I vaguely remember Microsoft and Excell I would like to have a u-tube class!! The tabs are similar to junk journals. Thanks for sharing Norrine 🦋😘🐞🤗🐝🥰
I never thought of that! I should check out how to make Junk Journal dividers and see if there is a better way!
I am very impressed with yours. ✌️😘🐞🤗☮️
I would love a tutorial on excell. I know some, just don’t know all that can be done.
It can do SOOOOO much! I'll see if I can put something together.
Yes, please do. I love the color of the boxes in your room.
I second that!
The method your using seems expensive/counterproductive/you need to keep ALLOT of clutter/crap, to do it this way, so you need, paper, folders, dividers, notebooks, printers, ink, stamps envelopes, TIME/no E-mail/PDFs/servers.
More info:
Tablets/Laptops/desktops/a phone, is the solution lol, if you need a stylus get one, as well lol, not NECESSARILY needed, but, it MAY make you feel better.
LOL your acting like an old person lol
Sentimental things are different, but the rest is a waste of time and space.
Xx
We had it last week!!!!! I didn't move at all one of the days. It was just TOO hot! Good luck!!
Hello from Dallas. Those Clutter Fairy pens are so cool!
Email me your address :)
Great info for organizing paper!
Thank you 😊😊😊
Most welcome 😊
Wow I really like what you did today! I don’t have a clue about excel but I can draw measure and print so this is feasible. It will take some thinking for the divisions and notebook subjects but oh my your desk looks so great! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! That's why I do the tabs in 1"..... I know if my paper is 8.5x11 I can get 11 tabs on. LOL I try to keep it simple! 💜
I like to see and be able to pull out a paper that I need , I keep all bills, etc, for at least 3-5 years
File folders for you then! Much easier to use. The binder system works great for paper you need to refer to... but not pull out. :)
Old school & have to print!
Yes please Microsoft tutorial! I am saving this one.
Coming soon!
Very impressive
Always so inspiring. Ty
Thank you for this great video! I think you are amazing.
Wow, thank you, Stephanie!
Love your set up! Years ago I set up notebooks for each of my kids and a few other things. I need to do this again because the piles are getting out of hand.
You can do it!
Loved this video A LOT! Thank you so much!
So glad! How are things coming along??? I can't wait to see new pictures!!!! It's looking AMAZING!
That’s how I make my tabs, spines, and organizing pages.
Great minds think alike! :)
You are amazing! Your ideas are great and, unlike me, what you do always looks so pretty! Binders are a great organizing tool!
Thank you so much, Cass! They are great tools for keeping things organized.
Amazing tips as always and your divider tabs are sheer brilliance.
Glad you like them!
Good point!
We are trying too sort out for new carpet and everything else in Our Bedroom OMG I didnt know how much clutter We had. I
would love to be sorting through my paperwork at the moment (recipes & card/crafting & fabric and much much more) lol lol.
See you soon huggssss xx smiles
You can spread it all out on that nice new carpet after it's installed! For right now... just keep it all in one place. You've got this!!!
I saw that the letter of your friends mail was one I had sent you. So very cool. I love your idea for the ABC tabs.
Yes!!! I Have The 3 inches and I uses a small Hot Tool To Divide My Pages And Divide Receipts, And Personal Items, Very Useful!
That is awesome!
I'm all about paper copies, especially when it comes to books 📚
💯 tactile
Great tips! Would be great to learn to use excell.
I still struggle too.... if I don't see it, I don't do anything with it! So I still (yes, even after this video) have piles on my desk. LOL
YES!!! That would be perfect!
I love this! Thanks for the tips!
You're so welcome! 🌻
Great ideas.
Thank you, Connie! 😊
"I'm a real human being with messes, too." Subscribing.
Thank you, Holly! I am happy to have you here. 💜
Always nice to see you, Dianne!!!! Hope things are going well for you too. xoox
The Crafty Organizer Yes, I am fine, thank you. Will reply to your email tomorrow. Have a nice day. Best wishes, Di 😘💕🇦🇺.
Hi there sorry I've not been on here very much But I'm in the middle of a Major decluttering Myself at the moment. If My husband stits still for too long He will be decluttered as well giggles giggles.
Tee hee.... He better get moving then! LOL Great job, Janet!!!! I can't wait to hear all about your finished projects!
Awesome 👏👏👏❤️😀
Thanks, Rachel 🤗
