  • With no community garden plot this summer, we're trying out new ways to grow food. This week we tried Back to the Roots' Organic Mushroom Farm to try growing oyster mushrooms for the first time. Will it live up to their claims? Watch and find out.

    For anyone having trouble with these, I recommend putting them in a big clear Tupperware container with a damp thin dish towel over the top. The air is really dry here right now and this helps out A LOT.

    you waited a bit too long and that's why there are spores. next time don't wait until the tops are flattened out or curving up. Harvest when they are still curving down. But these are really fun kits!

    So..if you collected the spores and placed them in new sterile substrate you could grow new mushrooms or make more mushroom kits? On that same note if you had your own sterile substrate, by cutting up the brick , lets say 6 blocks, before you soak the brick, add those to new substrate then add water making the mycelium grow, you could effectively create 6 grow kits or more if you keep the mycelium growing? Effectively you could start a business right?

    Could your grow from those spores if put back on the substrate block ?

    • @cheesefries7436
      @cheesefries7436 4 года назад

      You don't need to mess with the spores. You can re-use the block in the kit 1 or 2 more times. Let it rest then re-soak and it will make more mushrooms!

      Elven Ranger but after you get 1-2 flushes from each side now you have a block full of mycelium that you should be able to crush up and put into a 5 gallon bucket and drill holes in to get more flushes from

      @@JPsChannel. I'm about to put down a $20 bet and try this. I have a bunch of cardboard boxes I'm soaking and am using a few other vids as a guide. I'm using the following vid as a guide but using cardboard to mix with my coffee and likely will drill holes in my tote whereas she's letting it colonize first and then distributing over two five-gallon buckets: ruclips.net/video/Fbm04HJV_H8/видео.html If this works, I've greatly increased yield.

    Please wear gloves and a mask because spores can get into ur lungs and also give u a reaction to the skin! My skin got itchy and swelled a bit until I washed it off. Now it’s good after washing it off.

    Mushroom Discharge ? Not very funny for kids. Sir or ma'am, You harvest mushroom before they drop the spores. Thanks for your uninformative unfunny comment. In a word with the ability for a basic Google search you should take advantage.
    Lady, at the start was very children Friendly. And she resepect the perimeters on the box that the experiment was for children of school age.
