This story really is absolutely bizarre. The way you convey it is visceral. I can honestly say, you are not only the best at what you do but you are a once in a generation raconteur. This one has touched me like no other.
I personally think there are possibly two things in play here or maybe only one. One is obviously some mysterious beings that don't want intruders on their land. The second element (and main element) of my theory is the native tribes are partially or primarily involved in this. Evidence 1) If you noticed the killers don't attack when there is a larger search party, mostly more well armed due to missing persons and being in higher alert. Why do I blame the native canadians to be a part of this? 2)From the story there is clear signs of some intelligent being wanting to destroy evidence by all the burning of the cabins when there is a cabin involved. Remember at least one of the story had the prospector dying before the cabin being burned down with him him inside. 3)All that gold missing from the dead prospectors (and nothing else) clearly points to the attackers knowing their worth and having use for them by selling. 4)Coincidentally the tribes being aware of one of the search party's movements, running into them ,and warning them of unknown scary dangerous beings unless they were shadowing the search party all this time. How are they able to easily shadow the search party? When the search party fill up supplies in the small towns nearby it is extremely hard not to miss it, especially when most of the population of places like Fort Laird (just outside of Nahanni park) is composed of native indigenous people. I find it strange they ran into the search party by huge coincidence in a huge and very remote area that is also rarely visited once in a half dozen years or so. Highly unlikely by mathatic probability. 5) The other strange thing is how are these tribes able to live side by side these supposed dangerous beings without being wiped out unless they are the main culprits in all this and the other dangerous entities (if there is any) is most likely being a minor secondary. The tribes (or a small portion of them) are the ones doing the killings because they know well ahead of time there is going to be movements from prospectors (or search parties) into the Nahanni valley from news of them buying supplies in very small towns like Fort Laird (population 500ish) who are mostly composed of indigineous people. They shadow them and kill them to scare future people from intruding and taking their gold. The gold going missing from all those cases says a lot; whoever killed them thought it was valuable and had a use for the gold and incentive to keep intruders from taking more gold away.
Why bizarre? It seems like the 3rd guy wanted to get away with the gold, unalived the two brothers with a machete, tried to get away in a boat but lost the boat and the gold and drowned. It honestly doesn't sound very exciting to me.
That's how humans operate tho. First guy got stung by bees. Second guy got stung by bees. Third guy also got stung by bees. Fourth guy got stung by bees, but made it out with a bit of honey. So on and so on
I'm just like: Why wouldn't someone make a professional investigation into this shit. And if its just a heli, with navy seals or similliarly capable men flying in, spreading hunting cams over the place and gtfo until after a year or so you send the team back in to collect the cams.
Send. A. Fucking. Army. It isn't that damn hard to rally a large possee of survivalists and gun nuts to go and pay that valley a visit, Humans are at the top of the food chain damn it and we're not gonna let some crappy valley chop up our heads and leave us for the rats
Man listening to all these wilderness horror stories makes me NEVER want to camp out anymore 😂 I get soooo shook hearing these stories! But tbh that all started for me when I actually did go camping one night, and something was nudging against my tent 😬 ever since, I havent went back
Between Mr Ballen & Kyle Hates Hiking, I’m beginning to think my solo backpacking & hiking trips were ill-advised. I feel a little like just my survival was…miraculous. The worst that ever happened was my (disappointingly old, ratty) bras & underwear were stolen by a bunch of Boy Scouts camping nearby and strewn on branches around a creek bed. 🙄
Actually it's quite safe. I'm out camping alone, without a firearm, all the time. I've heard things, seen things, but nothing ever bothers me. Go camping, enjoy life.
after watching this i did a bit of research, turns out people still die in the headless valley as recently as 2008 there have been missing person investigations in the nahanni valley, and upwards of 50 people in total have died or completely disappeared in the nahanni valley and never been found i think its time for your followup video mrballen :D
Natives killing people off to discourage others from coming back, it is pretty simple really. There is no ''pale cryptids'' its just natives telling spooky stories while they are the ones doing the killings.
I swear, WTF did Americans and Canadians do to the natives that pretty much all your national parks and forests are cursed with some weird shit. Bigfoots, Skinwalkers, Wuptis, Wendigos, Eldritch abominations....

When the local Natives tell you to stay away, get out, or hide, listen to them. They're showing you kindness, and they know what's out there. I lived with my ex-husband 's grandmother. She was the eldest member of the tribe. She told me places that I could never go alone, and places that she didn't want me to go at all, because there was evil out there. I listened to her. There is great wisdom that comes with age, and knowing your history.
So that one guy built his own wooden cabin, decided to live there alone for the whole winter surviving by his own means while prospecting for gold. People at the beginning of the 20th century were built different.
@Chandler Burse entirely untrue me and my brother bought about 500 Acres out in West Virginia strictly for hunting purposes because it's mountainous and not Farmland so it was cheap him and I both have spent Winters out there and there are no structures so we've had to build our own cabins you can do anything you want as long as you're not lazy people are capable of doing anything and everything they're still doing it all over the world so saying people aren't capable of it just shows you that you're not aware of the rest of the world outside of the first world country you live in

In Canadian history all we learned about was how there were tons of gold that's untouched in the far north. If my history teacher told stories like this, I would've paid a lot more attention!
Wonder if old American businessmen caught most of the ghosts to sell to others. Notice every other country has tons of haunted uninhabited land but in the US we just build over it and trap ghosts in dolls and make movies of them.

Dare I say, most, if not all “old timers” here truly appreciate Mr. Allen giving up so much of his family time to bring us these stories. I don’t think 3,4, over even five videos a week is sustainable. Whenever the pop up is greatly appreciated but not taken for granted.
I believe gesturing with our hands makes us feel mor immersed in the story whether we are telling is or listening to it. I wonder if he was told not to move his hands while telling a story if we could hear a difference in the way he talks
The Irish also talk with their hands. I don't think they could tell stories without them. Anyone who knows an Irish person knows they tell great stories. My maiden name is Murphy so I know a lot of Irish storytellers. 😅😅
This is by far the spookiest and interesting story of this channel. This would make the hell of a movie but then again why would you need a movie when this guy is doing so much better than that.
This story was most likely a gold prospector or prospectors, creating a spook story and actually murdering other possible gold prospectors in order to keep them away and keeping the area to themselves to gold hunt. Burning their cabins, taking their gold. And when other people started with haunting stories, it lined up perfectly in their favor. It could have even been local government/law enforcement in on it. Striking a deal to take a portion while the area was kept clear for one group to mine.

Out of all the stories I’ve ever heard Mr Ballen tell this one just really gets to me, such a sinister story & all these mysterious deaths without any explanation & every time I listen to it I feel the chills go down my spine
Take some liberties and have like one crazy hermit that lives there just outside the valley, they are the only person who lives in the valley at all, and the hermit gives the people going in an ominous warning that they ignore because obviously the crazy hermit is crazy. At the end of the movie when the last guy is running from whatever it is, they run to the hermit's home and hammer the door, the hermit doesn't even open it, you just hear their voice from the other side say something like "The valley doesn't like visitors" right before the last guy is pulled into the forest by some unseen force, you hear a scream, and the movie ends.
Or they know that you can't take them on...in my mind...modern day, modern weapons...I think a party of 100 people armed with high powered semi-automatic weapons might be able to tame the headless valley...I mean in my mind anyway...but at the same time...that is some bad shit going on in that place..
I don't know if the police are protecting something in the valley so much as protecting themselves! The police probably didn't want to spend any more time in that valley than they absolutely had to and they definitely didn't want to spend the night out there if they could help it. So I kind of understand why they claim none of the deaths are connected and they are all just natural cause deaths. Because if that wasn't the case they would have a duty to go out there and stay and figure out what's going on and none of them wanted to do that. I don't even feel bad for those gold miners who CHOSE to go into headless valley after the original 3 deaths. Come on. There have been like a dozen mysterious deaths most of them involving decapitation and the name of the place is f**king HEADLESS VALLEY. I don't even feel bad for you if you CHOOSE to go out there. I honestly believe it was probably another Gold Miner/s who wanted to keep all of the gold in the area for themselves and so just started ambushing and killing anyone who was in the area. They probably figured if they killed enough people it would deter others from coming out there. It's also possible the native Americans didn't take kindly to randos showing up in their area using up their resources (wild animals for food chopping down trees etc) and taking their gold off their land. Either way it's probably safe now. I'm more interested in the caves along that area though. I really wish some brave cavers would go out there and explore the caves and film them so we can see what's in them.
@@WhitneyDahlin yup that is when they find the skulls and naked pale humanoids skittering in the dark during a live feed...but I agree with most of what you said...in the day natives would decapitate people, also it is kinda strange that natives warned a search party about "the pale people" I just believe alot more is in this world or just outside our reality...it is crazy though about the woman in 1926...then the fella that said he saw a naked woman on all fours that looked not quite right...you never know..

I stopped watching movies years ago. Like others have remarked, this channel is like crack! This man's got a real gift!
@@sebastianwilliams6651Yes I still watch documentaries, and occasional docu-mini-series. As for films, I still enjoy short films - Omeleto's channel is fantastic for that. But in general have largely avoided full-length feature films and fiction-based series.
I usually can’t watch anything on RUclips that’s more than five minutes long, but I’ve been binge watching your videos all afternoon. You really have a way of narrating so well that I can visualize everything you say.
Technically there is a movie based on a book thats based on a theory about the culprit behind the decapitations. It's called the 13th warrior and it isn't the same kind of story but the main point of that there is a group of people in a plot of land that attack tresspassors by burning down their buildings and defile the corpses by decapitating them. Good movie but the book it's based on is incredible. However one thing to note about it, is that it's a viking movie so don't be surprised when they don't just shoot the guys or get mad when they mistake their presence as something supernatural because thats how people thought back then.
The explanation for the decapitations by the authorities made my eyes roll. I live in a rural area and have seen dead animals decomposing and their parts being taken away to be eaten by other animals. I've never seen a head ripped off a large animal except by humans.
Yes i find dead deer and those spinal cords are always last to go and they are on good hard to believe animals did that to a skull where meat is harder to bit too
Sounds like the natives don’t want their beautiful mountains strip mined and turned into rubble with cyanide streams. The gold is not worth destroying the environment. The warning, followed by the common howling used by native to communicate just seals the story for me. Especially knowing what was done to the original 250 million natives in North America. I can’t blame them
@Conniggor NOT wendigo. These are different, I’ve been a big fan of horror for awhile and I can tell that these are skin walkers. That might be why this woman who ran around was naked, and perhaps they take heads to use it as new forms. I could be crazy but just something to think about
Can we take a moment to appreciate that Mr. Ballen gives us anxiety warnings & even gives us timestamps of images that will be shown that may cause distress. That is the sweetest thing! I love that we can count on Mr. Ballen for these warnings because I don't know a single other RUclipsr who gives warnings like that to this extent.
@@Smallestpenis Not everyone finds jump scares fun or entertaining. Some, like myself, just get pissed off when they see them and lose interest in whatever they're watching. There was a video he actually shown a supposedly cursed image without context and people gave him backlash for it. I think that’s why. It’s good though. Not all people want jumpscare or walk into things like that, they just want the eerie story thrills
Kind of a coincidence that the one group of people were approached by a tribe, warning them of danger, and then that night they hear screams and howls….
I dont think they keep the gold I think they just put it back into the land. I believe they simply dont want ppl taking gold from their land…Its not money to them its part of their home.

So in a separate video, a YT channel had a kid go out into the valley for a hike, he talk alot about the NAHA, and in the comments a comment stuck out, "I'm naha and I've heard my whole life to never step foot in their, the tribe won't most tribes won't, and he recommended nobody else goes." I love how mrballen can tell a whole story but his hands tell it best.
Exactly and that's what the hula is all about they're telling tales with their hands while they dance
Italians do it too. I know as I and other family members do it all of the time.
French Canadians are notorious for this too

This story was most likely a gold prospector or prospectors, creating a spook story and actually murdering other possible gold prospectors in order to keep them away and keeping the area to themselves to gold hunt. Burning their cabins, taking their gold. And when other people started with haunting stories, it lined up perfectly in their favor. It could have even been local government/law enforcement in on it. Striking a deal to take a portion while the area was kept clear for one group to mine.
The way the mounted police dismissed all the deaths as just wild animal attacks/starvation leads me to believe the police knew something.

Writing the screenplay. ✍️
Shoot the movie on the same spot. Nice!
Yes! A movie! “It” style.
I don't think that valley wanted them walking away with its gold
UPDATE: the police seem hell bent on protecting whatever is in that valley
So.... National Parks.... Why?
The gold!!!!
They did this
Or they know that you can't take them on...in my mind...modern day, modern weapons...I think a party of 100 people armed with high powered semi-automatic weapons might be able to tame the headless valley...I mean in my mind anyway...but at the same time...that is some bad shit going on in that place..

Technically there is a movie based on a book thats based on a theory about the culprit behind the decapitations. Good movie but the book it's based on is incredible. This story is worth being adapted to film, damn
But what would the ENDING be? It's highly inconclusive, so they'd have to make one up. Big white hero finds tribe of aboriginal shape-shifters etc... 🙂
Reminds me a lot of the Dyatlov Pass.
Bone Tomahawk
@@sstuddert Not precisely the same thing!
@@oneoflokis Yeah, I know it's not "precisely the same thing" (wtf?). It's a movie about a murderous tribe of cave dwelling American natives that produce terrifying howls, which is the closest you'll get to a movie based on this story (whereas, if you _actually_ adapted this story into a film, it would be an incredibly poor film because the narrative would span over the course of decades, the characters would keep changing, and there would be no conclusion).

This is the strange, dark, and mysterious story that started my MrBallen obsession!
This deserves top billing in Mr. Ballen's playlist, "Places People Are Told Not To Go But They Go Anyway"
Not actually, no one was told to not to go there. After the first incident people were scared enough to go the hills. But some thought they are the Lagina Brothers of Headless Valley.

Bruh like what wild animals just take the head .Also they found the head intact which to me means that animals didn't do it because after eating the fleshy parts of the head they would try to get to the brain for it's very nutritious to the animal. (That's what I think animals would do if they head just yourhead) plus animal's would most definitely go after your legs, your arms, or your chest frist snice most organ meat is very nutritious. Also why just the head and go through all that effort when the rest of the boats right their. This is why I agree It's a tribe that's very aggressive and territorial.
