I often casually stroll through the woods at even later times and nothing has ever happened to me.
@@eftheusempire But it always can happen, so one should take precautions because once it does... well, it could easily be your last trip there. Doesn't matter if you're a man or woman, the woods are a dangerous place, especially at odd hours like that or once it becomes dark.
You can always stumble upon a maniac, drunk/druged person, or into a wild animal. Wolves, bears, bobcats, poisonous snakes are common in most forests or wood areas... Nvm that, you can also fall, slip, hurt yourself into a trap etc and have no one to help you or get lost/disorienrated due to the fog, similar looking trees etc.
So be wary of your surroundings, possible dangers, and always have something with you to help you fight and locate you...Always go with other people and into places you know. It's better to be safe then sorry.

I consider myself a very brave person I don't get scared easily. But this one had me SHOOK. It sent chills down my spine for like 5 minutes straight and my cat looked over at me like she could feel the fear. Hats off to you man you do a remarkable job telling these people's stories please never stop.
I am not either, but it's the way this guy tells stories. Every miniscule detail, he describes it so perfectly. The only things that could make it creepier would be if he slowed his pace and had a deeper voice (that one isn't very changable)

The amount of anxiety this whole thing gave me is unbelievable. That's how you know if someone is a good story teller.

I was v anxious, until I got distracted by thinking about how the forest freak had a bell and her name was Bella. If her name was Crystal, would the forest freak have a huge crystal tied on a rope around his waist? What if Bella was a guy named Lance? My head was busy thinking up different names and objects for the characters.

I couldnt sleep at night later, thats how scared I was...and I am more than 30 yo.
I have my own experience with hearing a bell at night in the forest....when I got out of the military, I spent 6 months working on a ranch outside Whitefish, Montana. While there i spent alot of time cross country skiing, climbing and camping in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. One weekend I took off by myself with plans on camping that night and then climbing this mountain on the continental divide the next morning. That night it dropped to -8 F with an snow/rain/sleet mixture. while curled up in my tent I kept hearing footsteps and a bell ringing sounding like it was circling my camp area. It would come and go for minutes at a time almost the entire night.....being alone it was pretty creepy.. it really felt like I was being stalked so i slept with a glock 21 right next to me. Early next morning maybe 430am, I got out of the tent, ate, packed up and headed towards the mountain. Not a quarter mile down the trail i hear that same damn bell....I look over and to my horror............................. it was a fucking cow that had obviously gotten separated and was just walking around grazing the spots where grass was still coming out of the snow.🤣🤦♂️
But was it truly a cow? I mean the large wolf story also seemed crazy weird and got even weirder later on...

The fact that he has a bell practically giving away his position makes the stalker/potential serial killer more terrifying. He's not even trying to mask his position. He's proud to let his victim know where he is and where he's coming from.
Its a fake story obviously (since it came from reddit with nothing verifying it). Tho i still enjoyed it as a fake fiction story like i would a movie or some other form of media.
EDIT: and yea there are obvious plot holes in the story but still i wasn't disappointed after watching this video

Bells are often worn around the waist too, in order to keep hands free.

This freaked me the fuck out!! He is so intense at storytelling it captivates you and puts you at the centre of the story like your in that situation. This is a terrifying situation for anyone to be in and bella got out there alive i can't begin to comprehend the absolute terror she went through but am glad she made it through

If she had used common sence she never would have been in that situation. Who the hell continues walking into a forest alone when its getting dark and a storm is comming instead of turning back to go to her car.
In my little town of Beverley in the North of England, which has a great deal of Medieval history and ghost stories, the most famous one has bells too! Monks during the Black Death of 1348 would carry bells on the stretchers of the deceased and dying plague victims, so that healthy people would know to avoid them.
They were tasked with disposing of the bodies, as no-one else was willing to do it. Perhaps they also carried bells on the ropes around their waists, but from what I remember they were attached to stretchers. Legend has it you can still hear the bells today! 🔔 🔔 🔔
The ancient pub called: ‘The Monks Walk’ right outside of the Beverley Minster has a painting of a hooded figure carrying a bell. Apparently there are thousands of medieval bodies underneath the Victorian train station too!
The moral of the story: Don't let your emotions for a manmade lake put you in a life-or-death situation. Always get home before dark.

I was injecting sarcasm into a story that is most likely untrue. No one goes out alone at 6 PM into a wooded area for a stroll that will likely take hours before getting back to the safety of their vehicle, especially in an area that will not be lit. And then seeing a beheaded beaver just before rigor mortise sets in and thinks it's OK to continue on even more? Especially when hearing a bell, a sound that's totally unnatural when alone in the woods? Sorry, but this is a story that's made to order for a campfire group of adolescent tweens while someone off in the dark starts ringing a bell.
She starts crying and pleading with her dad on the phone and her dad says, "GUESS WHAT?! I GOT A FEVER. AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION... IS MORE COWBELL!"
This is why I always go into the woods with my good ole pal mister gun

Mr Ballen is one extraordinary story teller. Would love to have him around on a camping trip to liven up the evening around the campfire.
The way they edit him taking his breaths while he’s doing that really adds to the suspense too. We subconsciously realize something isn’t normal and it adds to the feeling of unease as well. It’s really clever.

Had this been my daughter, she'd be jogging in the dark rainy forest armed, and idk why Bella didn't use her phone flashlight unless this story is just way old. This happened to me when I was in an oak forest in Transylvania... except it wasn't a bell, it was a man whistling a repetitive melody. Was kinda spooky, but it turned out to be an old goatherd whistling to his goats 😂

The bell use to be used to ward of evil but more Celtic in origins bit like when you find windchimes in the woods or church bells. The bell and being near running water would suggest in some circles pure life and rejuvenation while removing harmful entities from the area.

This reminds me of a time I was hiking out in the sierra nevada mountains. I was out alone in the woods looking for a campsite and I too started hearing an eerie bell sound. I paused to listen and couldn't hear any sort of pattern to the ringing. Right as I started to hike some more I heard the sounds of a large creature crunching the dry underbrush to the sound of the bell. As my adrenaline started really to kick up, a cow walked out from behind a tree. It gave me a sideways look and then its bell gave a merry little jingle as it bent down to eat a bit of wild grass. Apparently some ranchers graze their cattle way out in the backwoods lol.
People wear bells too when backpacking to alert bears of their presence.

From what I've learned from all of Mr. Ballen's stories. Never, ever venture into a forest, unless you bring at least a knife, a sword, a crossbow, a gun, a rifle, and some handful of grenades. And a satelital phone, plenty of food, water and a flashlight with tons of batteries. Otherwise, you'll be another Mr. Ballen's story.
Adding to list a RPG as well 😂
You'd be sure to end up in one of his stories if you just randomly appeared with a sword or a crossbow in a forest (but obviously on the side of the creepy villain) 😂
Don't forget a battalion of self-propelled artillery
Maybe also add to cart: A hammer, holy water, garlic, one copy of every religious book, climbing gear, a helmet, kneepads, wrist protections, boxing gloves, chicken feet, a nun chuck, a poney because poneys rule, a harpoon, a fishnet, the Flying Dutchman, duck tape, a first, second and third aid kit, a hazmat suit, a wizard's wand, breadcrumbs, and Chuck Norris.
I think a pistol and knife would be enough 🤣. A sword doused in holy water might be a good option too.

That's insane! I use to go to a similar area by a creek bed when I was 19-20 and I too heard a bell but with a bit of a lower tone than this one. Once I finally found out where exactly it came from I got startled and I can feel my adrenaline shoot up to my chest. My heart beat was extremely quick and hard my face had gotten flush 😳 There WAS a hunter just standing there. Half of his body "the lower half" was exposed by the sunlight but from his belly button and up was very dark and hidden by the cast of the tree he was standing near.. so I couldn't see his face features just a dark shadowy face. And I swear I froze "now thinking to myself I am a coward" but once he started to speak I trembled from the tone of his voice. All he said to me was.... Do you know how to get to Bells canyon. I ran... 😮 😂 Thanks for reading lol

As a short story of mine. I lived in a small town surrounded by a not too dense pine forest with lots of sandy trails since this town was built on a desert. Calling it a “forest” is probably an overstatement but it is still a forest. I knew the trails easily navigating to any point of this forest I wanted to be in and to any way out of it. Some day I decided to spice up my walks with some creepy music in my earphones. Easy to say I overestimated my courage and I really started sprinting down the trail as if a maniac is behind me, also considering there was a cloudy weather, so the lighting around me was dim, even though it was around 3-4 pm, and I felt instant relief making it to the normal road leading to the town. Needless to say, I never stepped into this forest again ever, thinking back about how stupid my decisions were… With that said, we often create our worst fear with our own imagination and it manifests because of the surroundings and the situations we create on our own. Bella choosing to continue walking in a dire weather didn’t help her either.
Put yourself in Bella's shoes: you have a favorite place where you GREW UP going to for years, with no incident or fear of. Where you would go to at all times of the day or night, it didnt matter because it was ALWAYS safe.
Bella may not believe in paranormal stuff or anything like that. So when she first saw the beaver and heard the bell, it was a one off thing for her. Would you stop going to your FAVORITE childhood place, based off of one occurrence, out of the hundreds of good experiences youve had? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on someone's personal opinion. To me it makes sense why she went back after an entire week.
Its more the fact that she went in so late knowing she would get stuck in the dark and then early on in a thunderstorm!
No worries Bella: maniacs, serial killers, psychopaths, and sociopaths don't hide in the woods and hunt human prey. Keep going out into the woods by yourself, and make sure you are at least an hour away from your car at night!

I've watched all of your videos and this one, along with "DO YOU KNOW HOW TO GET TO BELLS CANYON?" are my two absolute favorites. This one because it is terrifying and you made a simple reddit story so much more interesting by explaining it in your own way instead of just reading it word for word. Bells Canyon is great, bc it is scary and absolutely absurdly hilarious at th same time.

One of my all-time favorite stories on this channel. I had to revisit it because a park I visit near my home started up a bike-bell lending program for the mountain bikers that frequent it. It's a good idea because the bell jingles as they ride and warns hikers and horseback riders to avoid accidents. Unfortunately, it also means that now there are bells ringing out in the woods and all I can think is... run!!! 😂
Imagine if the figure approaches bella and says, “Do you know where bells canyon is?” While ringing the bell.

I just read a book of people's accounts of hearing strange sounds in the woods and wild places of the world; things like bells, whistling or flute sounds, chimes, or even someone or something calling your name. This weird occurrences may have inspired the stories of the Greek god Pan, which is, spooky enough, where the word "panic" comes from.

I love how both her parents actually did something in this story. So many time we hear that the parents know somethings wrong but sit back and hope they come home, a little different context with being in the woods alone and not someone’s behaviour changing but still…good on both parents
At the same time, they ran like scared cats. You can already know that it's a hippie family, because if the dad was a Man with guns he would've just stood behind her defending while she's getting away. As a parent, I wouldn't be running from crazy people in the forest xD

His reports include disappearances, as well as "unexplained deaths" that have occurred in France, and Dave's appeared there numerous times. His most recent movie _Missing 411: The Hunted_ (currently free on RUclips) is about *armed* hunters that disappear (and other unsettling topics/reports). Sooo .. good luck with your idea. Might work. Might not. Paulides still thinks it raises survival odds, despite all the armed folk who disappeared or worse. "Bella" should have been armed, no matter how many times she 'saw no one but family'.

I just recently watched the Mr Ballen story about the family that moved to a remote house in the woods of "Slainville" (actual name of the town), the family found a burnt-out pedophile van with some stuffed animals inside, the dad gets a job 2 hrs (or is it 2 states away? Idk 🤷🏾♀️... 👉Far away🤦🏾♀️), the little 5 yr old girl sleeps outside in the camper van ALONE with a dog, and little baby boy, like 2 or so kept running into moms room taking about the man and the ghost are scaring him, and mom just blames everything on a deer.
