More than pleasantly surprised to see Necrodeath, Blasphemy, Master's Hammer and Tormentor being included here. Too many people forget how incredible that late 1st wave of black metal was from countries that weren't Scandinavian. In terms of how many war metal bands followed in their wake, Blasphemy might be one of the most influential bands here. And Goddess of Perversity is a sick riff.
Not only you´ve managed to play those songs almost flawlessly but you´ve also figured out how to capture the essence of BM throughout the years with this selection. So many memories from my childhood and early adolescence came to mind with many songs. I truly appreciate and love what you´ve done in this video. Thanks Sincerely

Jesus loves everyone i don't know everyone's story or what happened to everyone yet, Jesus loves all! Black metal is the most beautiful metal to me as a Christian i love everything but the ungodly lyrics and i don't like the way they do their vocals as i prefer at most just clean pure shouting over the vocal style of black metal. I want to hear christian black metal for Jesus without the black metal vocal style just clean pure shouting and what not! I will probably never understand the pain that some people gone through so i will never be of true comfort i just wish everyone comes to Jesus but everyone must make their choice unfortunately... Earlier versions of black metal were barely beginning to branch off from other genres like thrash metal, so I suppose that would explain those aggresive and savage features of 80s and early 90s songs.

Frigid and Spellbound is definitely my favourite Black Metal song from recent years. It sounds enough like 90's BM that it feels authentic, but it sounds unique enough that it doesn't just sound like Spectral Wound is doing the same shit everybody else was doing.

The fact that you had enough balls to choose Emperor's Encorcelled by Khaos instead of the obvious 1994 inno a satana deserves applause. Encorcelled is actually a song I indeed like and I think it's highly underrated, specially the mid section with the pumping organs in that song. Great song selections overall, you had me amazed. Not many people manage to amaze me.
I found black metal in the midst of my depression last year around October I started listening to bands like mayhem and emperor and some other big names and smaller names it feels that black metal showed me the beauty of it in utter chaos I bought some black metal shirts I start grow liking black metal and some death metal even more then most metal genres now it's an beautiful piece of art

Very good. I was curious about the chords of black metal. I was a fan of Extol and Benea Reach. I saw Extol live in Anaheim California and they didn't disappoint. Brilliant band. I'm a guitarist.

Great video perfectly encompassing the journey of this beautiful genre. Although I have one gripe: Weakling’s “Dead as Dreams” always seem skip the conversation and to not get the recognition it deserves in pushing Black metal into its current modern sound. One of the more influential albums of this genre imo!
What a great video. Excellent playing, mean tones, not overdone. I also noticed my technique is like yours. So much better to play power chords with your pinky instead of the ring finger.
Cool play through and definitely some gems in there. The only complaint is that you didn't include Windir especially seeing as so many of the later bands were clearly influenced by him.
Sick video, I love all these riffs. If I could be just a hair nitpicky, I definitely feel the Winterfylleth riff of choice would've been better from their 2010 release The Mercian Sphere, which I feel I'm not alone in saying was their Magnum Opus. I mean, this is just a minor nitpick, the video was awesome and managed to make me sit for 20 minutes. Well done.
Great job with the covers! I would recommend checking out two more bands as they where really important to the scene. Thorns came out with a demo called "grymyrk", who totally changed the way people wrote riffs back in 91. And I'm going to mention Enslaved as a really important bm band as well.
Gonna have to raincheck on that one. But I promise you that sooner or later, I'll do it. Also I do believe they are working on a new album right now, so I'm gonna wait a bit till they have some new stuff out.
Good job. Necrodeath was I think the first band doing that we call today of era RUclips the true blast beat on the drums. Very incredible. In my opinion witching hour is the Venom song that sounds more like earlier black metal. Also it brought me teenager memories when you played Morbid. It's good to see here Der weg einer freiheit song, that's one of the best. Regards from Venezuela and Colombia. Take time to listen Selbst from Venezuela and Theurgia from Venezuela. At the same time, this is a good reminder of how important role the Soviet composers of the first half of the 20th century (e.g. Dmitri Shostakovich & Sergei Prokofiev) play in the development of Black Metal's musical language. Sure, Black Sabbath has a part to play in the emergence of this style, but Black Metal is one of the very few styles of the modern age Western popular music that has no direct links to the blues. Inconsolably comforting beauty, really!

At the same time, this is a good reminder of how important role the Soviet composers of the first half of the 20th century (e.g. Dmitri Shostakovich & Sergei Prokofiev) play in the development of Black Metal's musical language. Sure, Black Sabbath has a part to play in the emergence of this style, but Black Metal is one of the very few styles of the modern age Western popular music that has no direct links to the blues. Inconsolably comforting beauty, really!
