I’m hoping I can get to meps within the next month or so(not sure how much longer I’ll be waiting for this medical) but your comment gives me some hope. Graduated in 2008 D Co 1-50, one of the greatest times I’ve ever had in my life. It’s all mental, or at least was for me, I was barely 18 so I learned a lot about life real quick. Best job in the world but also the worse job in the world. Met some of the greatest men I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting in my 6 year tenure.
Dave, yeah man, you'll have a good time. I'm still currently on Ft Benning as a holdover waitin'to go to my first duty station. I graduated on March 27th. If you have any questions, feel free to message me. Embrace the suck and everything else will follow.
About to finish up 11C OSUT, it’s easy as fuck, just long as fuck. Don’t worry, no matter what the drill sergeants tell you there’s literally no way to fail OSUT unless you miss training because you’re injured or a sick call Ranger or any of that shit. A lot of the dudes in my company failed some of the graduation “requirements” and still got pushed through. Don’t worry about it.
I passed the asvab today going back to MEPS on Saturday for my physical. I told my recruiter that I wanted to do 19D but it's not available right now so I'm thinking of switching to 11B. My ship date is in August
I graduated Thursday and my company took any active guys with a 500+ acft, 250+ apft and who wanted to do it and let them sign a contract and those guys are going airborne. Idk if all companies do that but maybe you'll get lucky.
Solid Information they changed it to 22 weeks long now to better prepare future Infantryman with actual certification so when they get to their units they are prepared. (Current Infantryman) Ben Allen if you ever want to collaborate let me know. Much Love.
There are only 2 infantry MOSs for enlisted men and women. 11B and 11C. If you end up in an airborne unit, you will be required to go to airborne school. There are very few airborne units, so the likelihood of getting sent to one for your first enlistment isn't likely. Plenty of infantrymen aren't airborne. But if you're scared of where the army can send you as an INFANTRYMAN I don't think infantry is right for you man...
Also there's no different MOS for an airborne infantryman. The army just sends you where they send you. I guess you could actively avoid going to airborne school while you're in, but you'll get shit for it I'd think
Spoke to a recruiter on Wednesday. They told me as a prior 11B that it would be my only way back in (fine by me), but I would have to do OSUT all over again.
Todays my last day of family week and i didnt really know what to expect now i know to be prepared for alot of smoking firsr couple of days so nice to know.
Infantry OSUT in 1986 from Aug- Nov. I left Honolulu Hawaii from MEPS Aug 4th to Ft. Benning arriving to Atlanta and in into Ft. Benning by the 5th in the afternoon. Processed through for a week and got picked up for A-10-2 for Harmony Church on Aug 11 to start training. My Basic Training picture was taken on Aug 12th. My OSUT ended at 7th Nov. So it was over 4 months long. Not counting Airborne School for 3 weeks and a one Zero Week before starting which was cleaning, police call and cleaning and guard details. Once this was almost over I think I graduated Airborne School on the 11th of Dec from the Thanksgiving holiday that entailed. Back then OSUT was short but it did have a very high quality fighting force of the 1980s. Soldiers back then were better educated and put in by the ASVAB system. It wasn't perfect though. Even the smartest soldiers couldn't cope with the military. Even the dumbest soldiers were able to get into the Army by having their recruiters pass them by fixing their scores on the ASVAB to the minimum of 31 just to get in. Despite that, the 1980s Army developed true leaders during Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm till present the professional officers and NCOs. As it was in my day. Today's soldiers coming in presently will become the futures leaders.
I was 6 years infantry, army. Basically, you just do a lot of things you dont want to do, all the time, every single day. And Sometimes, you do it for weeks at a time. When it's hot, you're hot. If it's raining, you're training. When its cold you're cold. When the day feels long, it's because it was. And to top it all off you learn zero life skills, except to be very disciplined. Overall, The entire experience was 5/10. Not great, but not bad. Im always tempted to say that it was a waste of time, though. The only thing I got out of being 11b was a v.a. rating for ptsd and depression, and some war stories about how I almost got blown up on multiple occasions. I would never reinlist into the infantry. There are hundreds of other jobs that actually help you in your civilian life. The infantry doesnt do shit for you, other than allow you to have really good stories. Stories dont pay the billls though.
I havnt enlisted yet but have taken the ASVAB pretest. 100% going to enlist. Most likely 11x, hopefully into 11c but 11b is cool. I'm just so surprised after watching all these army videos at how negative everyone is. I was expecting people to have more honor and respect for what they are doing, not this video in particular but I have noticed a lot of complaints. I'm writing them off as people who joined for the wrong reasons
Bro lots of people just join cause they don’t have other options or do it to make others happy if you actually want to be infantry you’ll love it if you wanted to be in IT and get infantry you will hate your life
I went to Fort Benning OSUT in may of 1990. Back then I was going into a mech infantry unit. We where sub labeled 11Mikes so in addition to the regular infantry training we got to go to additional week of familiarization with Bradley fighting vehicles few years later I'm dont remember 11m designation was abolished and mechanized infantry are simply identified as 11Bravos which we where anyway just some went to airborne units some went to armored units. Those trainers where not our drill seargent who did change because of the coming war in iraq some original drills got reassigned because of the developing war in iraq at that time . One of my incoming drills was a former green beret coming from the reserves because of that. I graduated and was assigned overseas to the 2nd armored division ( forward) in garlstedt germany.
It really just depends on your Drills. Most Drills will award you phone privileges for performing tasks really well but with that being said they have changed the rules about phones and they are supposed to be mandatory now according to my senior Drill Sgt
How does the barracks work ? Are you in the the same squad bay for the whole time or do you move into a building with a room similar to AIT ? Also to have more freedom in regards to having access to you phone in OSUT or is jus the same shit you go through for 10 weeks ? I’m a prior service Marine going into the guard so I’m just wondering so I’m prepared because it’s different between the branches .
Hello, my name is Jada and i'm 11 years old. I'm looking to join the Army in the future. I just want to ask you for any advice for tips to help me prepare for the military. Thank you so much and I hope your quarantine will be better soon. 😀😀🙏. P.S I would want my MOS to be 11A
Sup. I was in the same boat as you for quite some time as a kid. I'm joining the infantry soon ^^. I'll tell you what everyone has told me when I was your age and up until I turned 18. Be prepared though, this is gonna be a long comment. Join a sport of some kind. Water polo, wrestling, track, any team sport that's rough on the body. I personally recommend wrestling, lacrosse, or water polo because they're all what are called "hybrid sports." It means they require strength and endurance in every part of your body. Your heart, lungs, lower and upper body, everything needs to be strong in those sports. And that'll carry over if and when you decide to join the army. It'll also prepare you for team building exercises, you'll understand how to push past physical pain (that makes you tougher), and it'll get you fit enough to join when the time comes. Focus on school (especially when you get to high school). You can't be an 11A (infantry officer) without a college degree, so you're going to want to get good grades. And if you end up deciding college isn't right for you, you'll still want to pay attention in school so you can get a good grade on the ASVAB (the test you need to take to join the army). Just about everything you learn in high school will help you pass the test. Know that if you end up not wanting to go to college and just want to enlist, that's fine. I wanted to be an officer as a kid, but as I grew up I decided it wasn't the right path for me, so I'm enlisting as an 11B (enlisted infantryman) instead. And it's totally fine if you end up doing the same. Joining a cadet program also might be a benefit to you. You're young, so the only programs that will take you at this age are the United States Naval League Cadet Corps and the Young Marines. I personally recommend the United States Naval League Cadet Corps because they're sponsored by the Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard. As you get older in that program, you can even get training in infantry-style things. I went to a training called Master-at-Arms myself, and they taught me the basics of marksmanship, battle drill, and a bunch of other very neat stuff like takedowns and gun takeaways. There are also other trainings taught by SEALs, Marine Reconnaissance, and Army infantry officers for older cadets. Being a cadet is a great way to see if you're going to like the military environment and if you can handle it. Also know that it's okay if you change your mind. You may want to be an 11A or 11B from now until you turn 16, but then you might learn you like medicine and actually want to be a 68W (combat medic). Or you might learn that you really love chemistry so you decide to be a 74D (Chemical, Biological, Radioactive, and Nuclear Material Specialist). Most of all though, be a kid. It's great that you have a goal for what you want to do, but make sure you have fun during your childhood. They can be some of the best years of your life and you'll look back on them fondly if you make good memories. Good luck to you and I hope to see you out there in 7 years if I'm still there ^^.

Run bro. Run run run run haha that will be a big portion of your life. Obviously start doing more push ups and look up the new PT test which is now the ACFT and practice that. Infantry is a mental game, if you tell yourself you can do it you will be just fine.
Ben Allen oh ok thank you, is there a way I can get batter at it tho? Cause I know I’m not that experienced or good but I do want to become better at it in the army
@@joelmunguia5872 In a combat situation if you are ever at a point where you need to use hand to hand fighting you have already failed. If you want to do something that would have some carry over to combatives take some Judo classes, but it's not as big of a deal as you might think.
Yeah man I train in BJJ and kickboxing but I don’t expect to need it in the army. I do it more for the fun. If your looking to train regardless I would say definitely Brazilian jujitsu and some sort of boxing or muy thai with it.

Being prior I’ll more than likely go back as needs of the Army but during my time in I meshed best with infantry guys being from bum f&@k northern Montana so that’s the route I want to go if possible. Could you shoot a video for prior service wanting to get back in as infantry? And the process it led them down and how they like the Army vs other prior branch? Thanks for the content brother 🤘🏻🇺🇸

In basic trading you get paid at the end! Will they hand you you’re pay check or will they send them to you family.? I want them to hand me on my own lol so do they send ur family or hand the paycheck to you?
I personally think our "regular" Infantry soldiers should be given much more ammo and range time. Bullets are cheap compared to aircraft or ships. Our boys Shooting and Moving skills should be razor sharp.
Im prior service navy. Im 30 years old, marries with 3 kids. Im talking to a recruiter about joining the army (after being out sincs 2012). I know that if i get back into the military, it will pave the way for a successful future with my family. My question is, is it responsible of me to leave my family for 22 weeks? Just because i can do it, is it wise? To be honest, ive failed the civilian life badly over the years
I was the smallest dude when I hit my unit in ‘08 so it was funny to give me a SAW, I didn’t mind, rucked that bitch for the better part of 6 years. If you want to be a gunner it can happen from my experience.
I dont understand the difference in none of this. Been watching videos. But still what the hell is 11x, etc. I know 11b is infantrymen(I think). And what is 18x. And I see ppl talking about option 40 contract and shit like that. What does it all mean?

A few of them
Hi I’m 14 I have been wanting to join the military since i was 4, I have felt a drawn towards the military more now than ever, I have been doing a lot of research and i have decided that i want to do infrantry. If anyone has any tips to help me reach that goal i would love to hear it!!
Run bro. Run run run run haha that will be a big portion of your life. Obviously start doing more push ups and look up the new PT test which is now the ACFT and practice that. Infantry is a mental game, if you tell yourself you can do it you will be just fine.
Just a question, if I’m not that experienced in fighting how often and how much would I be doing hand to hand combat training as an 11b?
Not often
What’s the difference between OSUT and basic training at benning?
I’m prior Navy Seabee “CM” with 6 years active. Got out and am in the waiting period due to COVID to get back in the Army.....still have to go back to MEPS the whole 9.
Bro im prior service Navy too. ABF (grape) on uss john c stennis. Im getting approved to join the Army too man. I have ti wait for a month for waiver though. Its gonna be tough brother im 30 years old married with 3 kids!! Hit me up sometime maybe we will be in OSUT together lol
Btw i was discharged in 2012 so this is gonna be one bitch of a wake up call
You got any videos about the ASVAB in particular with 11bravo?
Damian Castillo ASVAB video coming this weekend!
I didn’t know you went to south padre island for spring break
Yup!
I am looking to join the army national guard. 11B. Is there a lot of class room tests?
In basic trading you get paid at the end! Will they hand you you’re pay check or will they send them to you family.? I want them to hand me on my own lol so do they send ur family or hand the paycheck to you?
They direct deposit it to your bank account
Ben Allen I don’t even have bank acc or anything
Micheal Khual LMAO if you’re old enough to join the military, be an adult and go to a bank and open up an account
You get paid twice a month through out basic training not until the end
They should’ve got your bank account information. So it would just go to your account instantly.
I personally think our "regular" Infantry soldiers should be given much more ammo and range time. Bullets are cheap compared to aircraft or ships. Our boys Shooting and Moving skills should be razor sharp.
Is it possible to fail osut. Academic reasons..
My fiance is 11B I think or 11x. How often will they get free time or their phones?
Not for a while
I got some insight on that 22 week cycle lol
ShowtimeMahomes lay it down then
Hey Ben can you get an 11C on one of your videos?
If I can find one yes!
So, do I have to go to army basic training and OSUT to be in infantry. And also, his do I go into infantry
ËpicGämer no. osut includes your basic training and your ait.
I hate it here just finished basic. 12 more weeks to go.😂
Hey how is everything in regards to covid ? I’m leaving in January

If I do 11b OSUT can I still go into the reserves?
Im prior service navy. Im 30 years old, marries with 3 kids. Im talking to a recruiter about joining the army (after being out sincs 2012). I know that if i get back into the military, it will pave the way for a successful future with my family. My question is, is it responsible of me to leave my family for 22 weeks? Just because i can do it, is it wise? To be honest, ive failed the civilian life badly over the years
Can you get a 13F video?
I can try!
can you talk about re classing to infantry
You go to osut. But you get placed in after the turning green ceremony so youll at least get to skip the “basic” part
Joining soon 11x airborne
Same when you going to talk to recruiter
@@jamescooper4108 i enlisted May 21th as 11x
@@adrielreyes6471 nice man do u have a ship date? I want to talk to me recruiter next week just gotta sort some stuff out first
@@jamescooper4108 july 21 is my ship date. Contact a recruiter, you can take the asvab from your home
Is there still family weekend after basic training before OSUT?
My boyfriend just left for 22 weeks of training so I’m curious. Thank you
Yes there is
I have a question for David, I was just wondering if he got to choose to be a SAW gunner or if roles are just assigned randomly.
He didn’t get to choose
Alright, thanks for the response! Love your videos man💯
I was the smallest dude when I hit my unit in ‘08 so it was funny to give me a SAW, I didn’t mind, rucked that bitch for the better part of 6 years. If you want to be a gunner it can happen from my experience.
Were there any females at OSUT?
Yes
@@TheBenAllen. do males and females lived in different barracks ? Or together ?
I’ve never understood why if you were gonna go infantry, why not just go 18x?
I dont understand the difference in none of this. Been watching videos. But still what the hell is 11x, etc. I know 11b is infantrymen(I think). And what is 18x. And I see ppl talking about option 40 contract and shit like that. What does it all mean?
@@johndoe2799 if you go infantry, you're under the 11x MOS until you are classified as either 11b or 11c at Basic.
@@johndoe2799 18x is special forces candidate and option 40 is ranger candidate and if you fail u reclass as infantry/ 11b/c
13f???
Starting my infantry training tmmrw
I would love a day by day.
Anyone leaving for benning January 3rd?

You should get an 11b women to describe her experience!!!
