  • I have 3 electric chainsaws, but I don't have the battery chainsaw yet.
I decided to convert my working electric chainsaw to battery chainsaw. It takes time, commitment and effort to get this done. As a result, I can use this chainsaw for working outside, but there are some things that need to be improve. I'm really enjoy this project and I learn something new. Especially I could share my experience with all of you through this video.
    36V 9Ah Battery Pack Information
    - BMS 10S50A
    - 30 cells of 18650 LG 3000mAh 20A
    - Plastic box
    - DC voltmeter 8-100V lithium
    - Three-hole plug tricycle battery power supply
I hope you find this video useful and enjoy!
I am happy to receive feedback, suggestions to improve myself.
!!! I'm sorry for the mistake if I did this video !!!

I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

9:05 if you make a small thumb sized hole in the pen bodies, you'll be able to put pressure with your thumb on the wire as it exists the pen, thus making winding more easier. :)

I truly like the craftsmanship, don't get me wrong. But the original is a universal motor, so it will run on DC as well. The tag said 100 Volt, 900 Watts. 900 Watts is 9 amps @ 100 Volt. You could of made a 100 Volt battery pack by putting 25 of those 18650 cells in series and it would of worked just fine with the added bonus of it still being able to run of off standard AC. Props on an excellent conversion though.

Here in America, vape stores sell those batteries for about five bucks each, plus around 10% sales tax. So that’s $165 worth of batteries, never mind the enclosure and all the rebuilding. Expensive way to ditch the power cord... But with that said, I DO love my B&D battery-powered hedge trimmer ($75), weed whacker/edger ($75), and drill/driver ($50), all of which use the same type of 20V lithium ion battery, and last plenty long enough to get things done. And if they don’t, I just borrow a charged battery from one of the other tools. Cool project, though. A battery powered chainsaw which could last long enough to get things done sure would be pretty cool. I don’t know if those things exist outside this video, but I wonder how many batteries you would go through in a day’s work…

Nice work but there were 2 things I didn't like:
-The ring terminals you used on the cable connecting to the carbon brush
-The IEC outlet for the battery bank. You could have gotten a proper dc outlet instead

Excellent job. One thing I would change is not to use plastic cell holders. You don't want gaps between each cell as it traps heat. Gluing them together helps dissipate heat throughout the pack. from the inside out keeping all cells the same constant temp. I design batteries for a certain tool company & E-bike company.

great job. One safety issue is that when you release your finger from the power, there's no self-braking mechanism. So when you're cutting a lot of stuff in the woods, you tend to get careless and having that chain continuing to spin even though the power is off, is an invitation to slice open your pants and beyond. Not sure if shorting out the motor when power is removed would produce a back EMF that would act to bring the RPMs down faster? I know that the original 110VAC version also lacked any braking, but I don't think anything like that would be legal in the states.

такие ветки можно и ручной пилить, а уж стволы потолще эта электропила не вытянет.

    You got some skills bro!
    Great job!
I think thicker wires will be better in such application, that AC plug is rated about 16 Amps max, I would go for 12AWG wires from the battery, have you measured the amp draw? Again, good job!
