May I again commend you on your great Tesla channel. I have been using the Hansshow display for a while now in my Sep 2020 M3P, and have reached a conclusion on the best way to use it. First, the display really is a great addition, and a flick on the right wheel easily changes the display from CarPlay to Instrumentation where the extra information is helpful. However, the biggest problem of using CarPlay is if you set the Hansshow as the preferred device (to get the Hansshow audio though the car sound system, you disable the Tesla car phone feature and have to use the Hansshow CarPlay phone, which isn't as easy. What I've done is to set my iPhone as the default device, which still enables me to get the music on my USB and iPhone through the car system, and I can use the Tesla phone set-up. But, in CarPlay, I use Waze (as well as Tesla navigation), and I just get the Waze instructions through the Hansshow speakers. I'm happy with this as it gives me (almost) what I need. I'd be interested in anyone's comments who are using the Hansshow on how they use it. Thanks.... jpptubie
Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully Hansshow can update the firmware to add a little more flexibility for the phone routing - or make a switch in the settings. Yes, it can be a bit frustrating.
Have you heard of any cases where Tesla would not do a repair if they saw this product installed? Music they won’t do suspension work if someone has done a coilover replacement.
Excellent video. Looking to purchase this device and just combing through youtube to determine if this is really necessary, but I would much really like CarPlay in my Tesla.
Thanks for your installation video, I installed everything properly. While using Carplay and making phone calls there seems to have a echo for the person from the other end. Are you getting this? Like they are hearing themselves like 5 seconds later.
Hey @steven c - just posted similar comment. Hansshow gave me a firmware update, but the fix is to force calls through the display speaker, which is awful. I ended up un-pairing the display from my Tesla and use the Tesla UI for calls and texts, and CarPlay for the rest. Seems to be working ok
I should also add that if you are listening to music from the Tesla built in apps, instead of CarPlay, if you accept the call on this latest firmware via CarPlay, your music will not turn down/mute and you will have to manually lower the volume.
@@TopShelfTesla I’ve been doing this as well. This is like half CarPlay and half Tesla UI. Hansshow has admit to me that they are working on the Echo issue but no ETA.
Great and very indepth video. Thanks! I still have one question: How do you adjust cruise control speed now when the buttons are remapped to cycle through carplay?
When you are in cruise or AP, the right button will work as normal to adjust the speed. When you exit those modes, the wheel will control the screen. So while in AP, use the touch screen to change anything.

Great video. Does installation of this affect your ability to use your phone as a key for your Tesla? Since you're connecting to the screen via bluetooth rather than connecting to the Tesla directly, I was worried it would eliminate the phone as key option. Thanks.
Thanks, installed and it works well. However, it is hard to connect the cable to the onboard CPU as the centre dashboard lower trim needs to come out on UK versions of the Tesla.
@@MTNRanger it is because the socket is by the centre of the car and not by the wheel arch. The computer “box” is just moved horizontally from the right side in a US car to the left side in a UK car. Your videos were extremely helpful to me.
