I SOLD my tesla model y after 3 years of ownership... There are numerous things I LOVE and HATE about the car, which I talk about here: ruclips.net/video/j-4O0gr3QXA/видео.html
@@wmaiii1124 If an easily predictable , unessential, one time $ 400 expense can be “a lot” and threatens your savings to the point where it “eats up your savings”, then that car budget clearly wasn’t planned properly.
@@wmaiii1124 The mention of living on cash flow gave me rapid flashbacks to campus mac-n-cheese, Spam, warm beer, cold pizza, and sight&smells I thought I’d forgotten. Wish I’d forgotten lol
He'll be fine, there's a tax credit that lets you get 30% of the cost back for the install. little known fact that most tesla owners don't know about. I got mine for '19 when I did my taxes. You're welcome Cody
Afterwards sometimes you have to force a connect to the phone. Under phone list you can force the car to connect . I put my large water bottle in well in front of the cell phones.
@@CodySteckRealEstateVideos that’s so crazy! I just saw it on an Andy Slye video. I wonder why Tesla doesn’t make it uniform? I love my Y, even if the glovebox is harder to open.
I was also bothered by the low profiles on my 21’s so I downsized to 19’s with 255/45/19 tires, ride is so much better now and I noticed the range and speed has increased a bit also, btw No many wheel makers that fits Model Y just yet, I got VMR V710 perfect fit👍
I was looking at those actually. How do the 19's look on the car? I will have to look at some pictures. My brother has VMR's on his model 3 and they look amazing. It's time to start looking at specs and find something to put on, in the spring
@@CodySteckRealEstateVideos I think 20" is a good compromise. My friend changed his 21 Uber wheel to 20" Vossen HF3 and saw a big difference improvement on his range and riding comfort.
@@baldpnoy410 Any hard numbers on wh/mile before and after the new wheels? I'm thinking about getting 19 or 20s to replace the 21" Uberturbines but I've been struggling to get real world data for the wheels I'm looking at.
@@danchatka8613 Yes it works, and yes it is in the manual. You can even reset it while driving, no problem. Kind of thrilling to drive "blind" especially at night.
lol I literally just ordered a white, black seat, long range, 19" tire, model Y after reading about oil prices are going to $500/barrel, about 5x the current price. I figure white looks cleaner, the 19" wheels get better mileage and cost less, and 0-60 is 5s is plenty fast, i'd rather the extra range. Hearing you say this makes me happy I chose wisely.
@@colindouglas1997 I agree oil isn't going to $500/barrel yet, but, if it does start to go there, the cost to build a tesla would go up 500% as raw materials would go up in price commensurate to oil's increase. I see an electric car as insurance against it, and they are amazing! There is no downside to it.
I drove one of these today for the first time. I must say that there is zero downsides to buying one of these. The acceleration and ride are amazing!! Just drive it and you will want one. That is all I have to say… Have a great week folks!👍💯🎆
A fair review like this helps more than a fanboy review. This could help people with their optioning choices and manage expectations. Glove compartment is a small fail & a gimmick, your hand has to be able to reach it to use it anyway. There should be a 2nd screen behind steering wheel. I think some voice commands could be a pain with children in the car. "Hey Mercedes" looks super annoying.
Buying a car for close to $70k I find it a bit wierd that one of the complaints would be that you have to spend $400 for a proper charging infrastructure. Just for the sake of comparison, I had to pay $2800 for the charging system I have here (Norway), granted it is a 400V system. but still, What's eating up your savings is buying a car for 67k, not paying $400 for an upgraded charging system :P
The model Y costs over 90k in Canada now. The model 3 is around 70k for the standard RWD. These cars are ridiculously priced these days. The cars themselves are not even CLOSE to that cost. The model 3 is closer to a 30 or 40k vehicle. At a 70k budget, I would rather buy an Ionic 5. You get more bang for your buck with that and unlike the Model 3, is a properly well designed vehicle with good quality materials and build. The ride is way better too. You even get more tech than a Tesla, which surprised me.
I love my Model Y Long Range after owning it for 7 months. My only complaint is the rough suspension. It’s AMAZING on smooth roads, but in Chicago the roads are awful and I feel every imperfection in the road.
@@donjuan7595 Good question, i dont know how long warranty they have on that, maybe 2/4 years? but now it does not matter, they have already confirmed small upgrades for it (including suspension) when building it at GIGA Berlin and other places to come.
Ride quality is such a disappointment on this tech wonder! Amazing to think Tesla could make such a big mistake! Putting the suspension of a race car in the perfect electric family SUV. Why?
One thing a lot of new electric car owners don't realise is just how quickly they can eat the tyres. Most have bigger wheels so replacement tyres can be expensive
I can, and always have been able to, run the AC on both upper and lower at the same time, so either user error or you need to get it serviced. Maybe a reset would help as it seems like you've never done that before based on not knowing how to reset with the no connectivity issue. For the glovebox, just hit the right scroll button and say open glovebox...same voice controls work for nearly everything you'd need to do on the screen while driving. Even adjusting the AC.
I use the voice command to open the glove box. I do experience my Y not recognizing my phone from time to time. I use my card key when that happens. Tesla told me to make sure my phone isn’t upside down in my pocket. Apparently that makes your phone “go to sleep.” I do love it though. Very happy
120V is far from enough. I use the Tesla Wall Connector, and it is awesome. Average is 11.5 kWh. I used a 120V outlet once, while at a camping site overnight. I didn’t yet have a TT-30 connector, so the 120V served to just keep the car from draining while using Camp Mode overnight.
Regarding the screen position, I think I'd rather have a heads-up display while driving. My current car has many of the controls to the right, and it isn't as safe as having them in front and steering wheel mounted.
I believe pressing both buttons down on the steering wheel and holding them for a few seconds while on park will reset the car without having to get out of it fully.
I took delivery of my 23 Model Y LR May 11th Midnight Silver Metallic and have not looked back...The car is plenty fast and handles like a sports car. After watching many videos about inspecting the car before taking delivery it passed my vigorous inspection with no issues. I went with 19 inch Gemini wheels and purchased after market wheel covers that look as good as Uber Turbines. I paid $54K out the door not including the $7500 rebate. I traded in my 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and got only $900 less than what I paid in 2020. This purchase was almost a no brainer for me. I was very fortunate and everything aligned perfectly for me. Do yourself a favor and buy a roof shade and screen protector (I did). It gets f-ing hot in there with the sun beating down. The only issues I have had are the auto pilot glitch-wipers change to auto mode when auto pilot is engaged and the wipers then activate randomly-a firmware update is supposed to solve this problem soon. The other issue is a rattle from the rear view mirror assembly. I have a service request in to fix it. I charge at home with standard outlet and it is fine for around town. I work from home so no prob there. Took it on a 2600 plus mile road trip and it performed almost flawlessly. One of the hotels even had a Tesla branded charger-free! ;-) You do have to be careful of curb rash. The ride is pretty stiff even with 19's. Not any more stiff than my Mini Cooper, but noticeably stiffer than my 2020 RAV 4 Hybrid. I don't mind it a bit. I find most of the criticisms here would not have dissuaded me from going forward. Test drive one for yourself and do your homework. Battery tech is improving and higher range EVs may be on the horizon. I have no regrets after 2.5 month of ownership.
Had a 2013 Nissan leaf, loved it only the range was not quite there. So I ordered a Tesla Y model. I like the fact it’s like an SUV and it sure doesn’t need gas like my Land Cruiser. Can’t wait to get it
I'd rather have a regular lever on the glove box. If someone breaks into your car, I don't think they care too much if they have to break into the glove box as well. Still waiting for delivery on my Model Y.
I hear you there! When I put new wheels on next year, I may go down to 20" wheels so I can allow for just a little bit more tire on there. I'll have to check specs and think hard about it
Yeah for sure. I got stock wheels on my LR M3 and I'm glad I did; works great off road and I don't worry about scraping up the wheels. Different things for different folks I guess.
Great review. We’re getting the performance mainly because I think the extended range is a little bland and the few differences between the two makes the performance look more aggressive. As far as the drive? A little bumpy but the seats are so comfortable that we don’t mind it.
@@CodySteckRealEstateVideos here’s an idea for a future video. Could you please make a detail video on the process of the car delivery and the issues you mentioned you had to address and get fixed? How was that process? Thanks!
To each their own but for me the bumpy ride makes a big difference when you're paying 70+ k for a car. The dang ride should be smooth as butter which it is ... as long as its on a flat road/freeway. I transitioned from a Toyota Highlander to the Model Y and while the Highlander wasn't the smoothest of rides I could feel the road ALOT less on the toyota. A friend has the model X and when I drive her car its nite and day with regards to the suspension but its substantial difference in price tag.
On my third Tesla from 2016 to 2023. I must say the quality has dropped since the 2016 model. If they open up SUPERCHARGERS to other EV cars Most likely will be my last
Feel free to put a small basket under your seat to store your extra large water bottle. It's a pain to get to it while you're driving per se compared to the passenger seat, but it's great when you don't necessarily need to access it during the drive without it rolling around.
here in Sweden, a charging box is definitely recommended. Unfortunately, it has happened that properties he started to burn when the person has charged the car with a standard electrical outlet. a charge box monitors the temperature
But the price is well for every kilowatt, whether it is transferred slowly or quickly. an example if you transfer 35kw in an hour or 3 hours then it should be exactly the same price. you pay do not talk per minute. outside How many KW you transfer. I do not think the United States is a strange country. otherwise you have to take and contact a politician and ask them to be a little wiser
Two things you can do if having trouble connectivity issues while in car. Bring up main controls on screen and you can turn car off on the screen. Also the connection is Bluetooth so bring up Bluetooth on your phone and turn it off and the back on.
Range anxiety was something I've never experienced on a Tesla but I have nightmares on my 2016 Fiat 500E. I used my $1000 from my electric company once I bought my Fiat to put a level 2 charger at home. Thats a must.
So I purchased my Tesla Model 3 back in 2018, when the outside appointments were chrome & not the black matte finish that they’re offering now! So I purchased the dual motor, long range version with the premium chrome wheels & blue exterior, white seats interior & what they were calling an enhanced auto pilot, because the full self driving software was not close to being developed at that point, so they weren’t offering it at that point & so Tesla reached out to me & asked if I wanted to purchase FSD & the cost was $3000 dollars & so I bought in at $3000! I also had a $7500 tax credit which was absolutely my primary motivation for why I decided to buy in at that point & the car is simply stunning! It’s like driving around with a celebrity & everybody wants to talk to you because you are with this celebrity, but they can’t talk to the car right, So here’s my question, where on earth do you need to worry about a 0 to 60 time of less than 5 seconds & a top speed of 135 miles an hour?
Great call on the subscription base service for the Tesla Full Self Driving, pay attention Elon:) or referral links just like super charging for discounted monthly fees or free.
These quality control issues would have been understandable 16 years ago, however Tesla has been producing cars for going on 17 years now. A company Producing cars in this Price Point should have Pride in the Product they are producing and should Not be Shipping Out Crap. Tesla is showing over and over that they don't care about the Product they are Producing or about the People who are spending their Hard Earned Cash on their Products. Hearing these stories Over and Over and seeing the Miss Aligned Body Panels on a $125,000 Model X myself from 25 feet away driving by in my car douse not make me want to buy a Tesla.
That car is a beauty. And you got it parked in the perfect spot, with the mountains in the background 👌. This was a great breakdown. Very thorough and detailed. Watched from beginning to end and you covered everything👍🏾
Great update review 👍👍! These will be a lot more popular in the UK when they abolish the £500+ annual road tax for buying a vehicle worth over 40k 🤬. What a reward for zero emissions 🙄
Greedy UK government trying to eat their cake and have it. They’ve always over relied on excessive fuel taxes from motorists, to shore up the finance coffers. Did you know UK motorists are taxed TWICE for each fuel fill up? They’re heavily taxed on the price of fuel; they pay £0.579 fuel duty per litre of fuel, and then the total amount per litre is taxed again at 20.7p (value added tax). Blatantly shameless rip off. They’ve lost so much income tax on electric vehicles and hybrids, so now they’re trying to claw it back with cynically punitive financial penalties for buying an expensive zero emission vehicle - pure and unbridled stupidity if you ask me!
You can simply reset the screen/computer by keep the both steering buttons pressed at the same time for 2-5 secs. You can still drive the car normally while it takes the screen some 60 secs to come back live again - it is a smart car, it needs a reset once in a while but it is pretty painless to do :)
Right when I saw the mountains in the background, I knew you were a fellow Utahn. :) Bought my first Tesla last week and I already curbed both passenger wheels. Takes an adjustment to drive a new car. I absolutely HATE that Tesla doesn't have a bird's eye view system to help with parking. That's the biggest thing I miss after trading in my Lexus. But I can adjust, learn to be more careful, and experience EV ownership for the first time. I couldn't say no. I got a 2022 MYP with FSD with only 3,200 miles on it. The dealership gave me $40,000 even though my Lexus had a $33,000 trade-in value. Then they dropped the price of the Tesla by $7,000. So they essentially gave me $14,000 toward the car. How could I say no? One thing I already did to help with the curbing issue is I removed the 255/35/21 tires from the front, moved the 275/35/21 tires from the back and put them on the front wheels. I then bought new 295/35/31 tires and had those installed on the rear wheels. I have noticeably more side wall protection for the rim and the ride is even a bit more comfortable. Wasn't cheap but after scraping my second rim... I bit the bullet. I love the car so far. I miss the comfort and smooth ride of my Lexus but I just take off at a stop light and watch the other cars disappear behind me and that seems to cure all of my worries.
I would be interested to see how much you actually paid. I paid MUCH more than that, but I'm sure a lot of that is not wanting to look around because of the pandemic.
Got 4 paint problems With my red Tesla Model Y that Tesla will not fix because I did not notify Tesla before the 100 miles. Bad customer service. So be aware when you pick up your Tesla.
You tried taking it to another service center?... My friend had issues with panel gap and paint. First service center said they were within spec. He took it to another service center and they fixed all his issue. Each service center works different.
Thanks man! Appreciate the insight, I was unaware of that. Hopefully this fixes my issue next time I get in and the car doesn’t have premium connectivity.
@@CodySteckRealEstateVideos yes, use reset everytime you find any bug, it will fix most of them, you can do it while driving. there is more deep reset option.... 2 buttons on wheel while holding break pedal pressed. this option only while parking of course.
It was tempting for me to go for Performance Model Y, but I decided to go for LR. Love it, I mostly charge mine at Superchargers as I only have the regular outlet at my home. I had the stock prior to getting my car, Go Tesla!! 👍😊
Hi Cody, Excellent video, well balanced with pros and cons. I own a 2021 model 3 LR . I had to drop it off for service and they lent me a 2020 model Y std. I am very impressed with the extra room and higher ride position, but one thing that put me off is the road noise coming from the tires on the Highway. I seriously thought there was something wrong with it. I don't think i could handle it on a daily basis. It wasn't the Performance model, just std range on 20 in rims. Our M3 on 18 in OEM rides a lot better and is quieter. Hopefully they can improve on this in the next couple years which is when we would like to trade up to a Y.
@@leroysamuel6813 I don't yet. I paid the deposit on Oct 16 and hoping it comes early next month! Cant wait to make videos in it hehe. Don't worry, Elon's got our back with the cheaper EV within the next 4 years for sure :)
Took delivery of an Austin Built MY LR in Feb 2023. Build fit and finish? Flawless. I've had none of the problems you outlined. I'd expect Tesla to fix their errors right quick, and it appears they've done just that.
I had to return my wife's fiat bc a cable in the dash wasn't secured properly and kept rattling on acceleration. No way I'm gonna be satisfied with tesla's qc.
Just got my 2021 Model Y with the $8,000 FSD, FSD now up to $10,000. I initially ordered the Performance model, but then Elon came out with the Plaid Model S! 0-60 In less than 2 seconds! Anyway, I immediately placed an order for one, and changed my Model Y to the Long Range for my wife. I agree with your assessment, but it still is just an awsum car! I can never go back to petrol cars. I charge at home with my Tesla Power Wall, I have solar panels, and I start at midnight to get the lowest rate. I drive for a week for next to nothing! My electric cost per month is next to nothing.
Wow you put me at ease as I am picking up my white long range Model Y tomorrow. I thought your review of the car was going to be worse. I really enjoyed the details and honesty and now that I know your review and super excited about the new car. Wish you all the best. On another note if you really want to be impressed with Tesla's cutting edge technology watch what they are doing at Boca Chica Texas. I am not sure if you know but the Starship's fins and a bunch of other technology is powered by Tesla's batteries. So he is using SpaceX technology in the cars and vice versa... Hector
I just got my model y performance last week with black exterior and white interior but now I paid little over 80k after taxes prices definitely went up and now the car went up another 2k from a month ago when I placed my order but honestly I love the performance model with the 21" rims black paint with black rims looks so aggressive I looked at the model y long range vs performance and the long range just looks so plain I couldn't except only 5k difference between the long range vs performance if you parked the 2 cars next to each other it's like night and day difference big 21"rims with bigger rotors and red brakes plus carbon fiber spoiler and the performance is way faster than long range and it's barely any difference in range with only 27 miles difference you won't even notice the difference doing your everyday driving so if you like fast and more aggressive look than definitely go with the performance model it's totally worth the extra 5k to get that power and look in the performance model
The connectivity issue (4G) is likely a modem that needs to be replaced. This was a problem with a run from the model supplier they used at the time. They've since changed suppliers.
@@DerekDavis213 Tesla has pivoted to alternative components wherever possible in the past ~2 years based on supply constraints. Their team can write new firmware for a different type chip or modem to take advantage of model availability instead of waiting on logic chips or components like an IC642. Similar components are the gate for Ford and why they’ve had to park thousands of Bronsos or sell to customers without key features. With pivoting to a different modem comes some consequences because the alternates might not perform as well.
@@DerekDavis213 I’m talking specifically about modems, per my original comment… I’ve experienced several issues with my Tesla, but like most owners I love the car. Kinda like all my friends that own F-150’s or Jeeps. Those things break all the damn time, but the owners love them. Friend just had to pay $1,500 to replace a fuel injector on his Raptor that has 16k miles. Dude loves the car. Cars have issues, unless it’s my Toyota Tacoma with 340k miles on it. That thing is a tank.
@@nickc.70 Does an F-150 or Jeep cost $55 k to $70k? That's the difference. Supercharging the Tesla is a hassle and a waste of time, the car has poor paint job and fit-and-finish, it has no dashboard - just a big iPad screen. Also a rough ride, Full Self Driving is YEARS late and still nowhere near ready, and many people can't even unlock the car with their phones! wtf? If you spend $50K on a Toyota or Honda gasoline car, you will get a much more polished and high quality product.
I have had issues with connections as well. First this is standard Bluetooth issues (all devices have this). But if its bad, just reboot the car this has helped me a few times.
@@Dave--FkTheDeepstate most of the time trying a few times work and maybe turning Bluetooth on or off. Or turning the car off /stepping away. Honestly the Teala connects better than most other cars i know. But one time i could not connect and after reboot it worked fine. If had it a few times that the car acted up and a reboot fixes it
Sorry, I don't have a Tesla but I know the phone problem. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth often use the same antenna. Leave Bluetooth on and switch off Wi-Fi before coming to the door, I would like to know please.
What turned me against the performance edition, is when I found out the brakes were not significantly better. In fact, it's being said now performance brakes are not any better than long range brakes.
Maybe save on getting the performance model, and get the long range instead of you have that much range anxiety. If he got the long range, he could’ve saved the cash and gotten the 220 system, performance download for your 0-60 time, and still been under cost of the “performance model”
$70000 US dollars to have sub par paint quality - connectivity issues - low profile tire issues - a small rear window design - charging issues as with every electric car on the market - any problem can only be fixed by Tesla - only Tesla parts can be used - the battery declines with age - rapid declining resale value . My conclusion - not for me.
Tesla is not only one company have paint issue. Look at BMW Mercedes Toyota Honda, all those have problem with their paint in general. BMW with low profile tires or any car with low profile will have the same loud noises, like my BMW M3. Small rear widow design? Look at BMW X6 Rear view window (comparable - BMW X6 vs Tesla model Y). Charging issues? You can drive a Tesla from LA to New York with no issue. Problem can only be fix by Tesla? BMW isn't the same? Sure you can bring to an unauthorized shop same with Tesla. Battery decline with age? BMW or any other car engine also decline with ages, too. How many old BMW do you still see, not many, unless you really taking good care of it.
I don't get the environmentally friendly statements everyone claims when I always read that lithium batteries are not friendly at all and not very recyclable and causing water pollution and wildlife to die. So what's so great about electric vehicles then? Don't they use lithium batteries?
@@jackle842000 who's everyone? Tesla short sellers? FUDsters? Pretty much every recent legitimate researcher claims that electric cars are better for the environment through the life cycle of a car. And recycling plans will meet the demand once the first EVs start getting junked. That being said, I own 2 Teslas and plan to sell my remaining ice car because Teslas are superior to ice cars in almost every way. The only aspect I can think of is that on road trips, Teslas take about 10-15 minutes longer to charge than ice cars take to fill up. And I'm limited to where superchargers are located. But with as many that exist, that's much of an issue either. Locally I spend way less time charging than I did gassing up. If you think Tesla ownership is a bad or difficult thing, you're talking to the wrong people or reading the wrong news articles.
@@CRPerformance1 I guess that depends on country you live in .. in Amsterdam which is probably one of most EV friendly EU city it is far from perfect ..
Regarding the charging system, most people qualify for federal tax credits when they install and they get almost all of the money they paid back. Everyone should look into It when they are doing their taxes.
Thanks for sharing. A few things: 1. I guess other people have told you already that you can reset the computer by long pressing both scroll wheels? 2. To keep the wheels safe it‘s the smartest idea to go with the Long Range and 19“ wheels and then put an aftermarket cover on it which covers the entirety of the metal, so if you do scratch something it‘s only gonna be the plastic cover. It also gives you a significantly more comfortable and less noisy ride, but it‘s still not as good as what you‘d get in a decent BMW, Mercedes or Skoda. 3. The rear view is more of an issue than what you make it out to be. The side mirrors are pretty bad compared to what other manufacturers here in Germany provide and the rear view camera just isn‘t active while you‘re on the highway with your navigation opened up. You can still see most things but it definitely takes much more effort to drive carefully and watch all the traffic that‘s going on around you, especially in Germany where you might be going 130 kph and then somebody from right behind you thinks it‘s a great idea to overtake at 200+ kph. People are crazy here in that regard… 4. Opening the glove box via voice control seems the easiest to me but not having a physical handle gives them the possibility to lock it with a PIN code digitally. I think that‘s absolutely worth it and a very smart thing that I‘m missing in other cars. A physical key is also not the way to go. Besides that there‘s a few smaller things that they‘ve changed over time already, but I‘m pretty sure you‘re aware of those already. But thanks again for your update, our Model Y will arrive early 2023 and I couldn‘t be happier about all the exciting road trips we‘re gonna do with it as well as just the general increase in comofort coming from my 1998 Golf 3 😂
@Tien Most Powerful Earthling Of All Time Shinhan I've had problems getting into my former (fossil) cars, but not the Tesla. No keys or remote fobs means no problems-and no need for a phone since the Model 3/Y key card just works. Plus it has no battery, and can be replaced for $12.50. Try that with a fossil key fob. . . .
You're right. This car is not a vehicle to get you from point A to point B. It gets you to point A to a charging station, then wait for 30 minutes then maybe point B lol
It's literally an informative cons video about the car. Why are some people so bitter about his points?? He made this video just so people can have the realistic look of how owning tesla is like so you people don't get disappointed when you can afford one. If you're looking for a big flaw about the car, maybe there isn't one cuz It's not in one of his points?? Like relax, atleast he owns a tesla
Great video, Cody. Ill be getting a Y next year and I’ll put all your info to good use. As a TSLA enthusiast and investor, I’m starting to get a little concerned with what I’ve seen with the new FSD version. Great in some instances, very shaky in others. Autonomy is a big part of the investing thesis for Tesla, so the less-than-stellar launch (my perception) of the new FSD program is something to be concerned about. It will be interesting to see what you think when you get the update.
Thanks for watching! I think it still has a long way to go, to be entirely safe. I've noticed that the car definitely errs on the side of safety when it probably doesn't need too. (can't blame it, given regulations and new technology) I personally think it will be at least another 2-4 years before we see FSD at the level you'd expect of a "normal" driver over a period of thousands of miles.
I wouldn't call it a "launch" of their FSD program. This is just adding customers into their testing program to help accelerate the development. By the time the software is ready for a proper 'launch' they'll be rolling out robotaxis.
Because the wall connector is still $500, and then I still need to run the wire, and pay an electrician to hook it up? If I am charging overnight, the ~30-35mph I will get will be just fine.
@@CodySteckRealEstateVideos the mobile connector is more than enough for most and you save 500. People just want to buy and have every single dang Tesla accessory on the planet
Unless you plan to go back to a ice car why not have a permanent charger in your garage. Also Tesla will be releasing features that use the WiFi that the wall connector has. To me it seems lame to use a portable charger to permanently charge your car.
I think some of your criticisms are a bit......much. Your huge water bottle can easily sit inside the center console in front of the existing cup holders. Flip it open, toss your bottle in, and it'll sit upright without an issue. I'm not sure why you'd opt for it to roll around with that option. Does the model Y not have the center console space like a 3? Connectivity issues: Turn off your bluetooth and turn it back on. I've solved random mishaps for connectivity this way, and it's not as hard as you getting out and walking away.
Fair review. For range you can get it back by switching the wheels to 18”. As for the current rims , man the ones on the left point in one direction and the ones on the right in the opposite , how come Tesla let this slide ? I’d make a claim to Tesla about that, THAT can’t be right. Waiting for my Cybertruck

lol I literally just ordered a white, black seat, long range, 19" tire, model Y after reading about oil prices are going to $500/barrel, about 5x the current price. I figure white looks cleaner, the 19" wheels get better mileage and cost less, and 0-60 is 5s is plenty fast, i'd rather the extra range. Hearing you say this makes me happy I chose wisely.
Gas isn’t going to $500/barrel anytime soon. Even still, good idea to not have to buy gas at any price point. Enjoy your new ride.
Thank you. Everyone always talk about what they love about it nobody barely ever mentions the downsides. I like to know exactly what I'm walking into.

Do you have the 19 or 20 inch tires?
Change the suspension, even a RUclips video on it
@@User100mil but wouldn’t that void the warranty by changing the suspension?
Exactly!! I love mine.
Fine if you keep within range, but waiting 40 mins for a charge? whilst those in a $400 banger fly past you, you may ask "Was it a wise investment?"
Regarding the screen position, I think I'd rather have a heads-up display while driving. My current car has many of the controls to the right, and it isn't as safe as having them in front and steering wheel mounted.
Then the Tesla S is the car for you. and even a used one can work well. Previously, the Tesla S had a sunroof
I believe pressing both buttons down on the steering wheel and holding them for a few seconds while on park will reset the car without having to get out of it fully.
This.
Dipping into Tesla videos? I’m here for it. This channel just got even better
Yeah I have put out a few!
Coming from low profile tires and shitty roads on my current car, 19" wheels for the LR is one thing I'm looking forward to.
Same! My A5 in Atlanta is rough
I went with long range for this reason and because you get more ground clearance, will help in the snow. It's fast enough!
Great review. We’re getting the performance mainly because I think the extended range is a little bland and the few differences between the two makes the performance look more aggressive. As far as the drive? A little bumpy but the seats are so comfortable that we don’t mind it.
Yes for sure! I 100% agree - I wish the ride was better, but the seats are great!
@@CodySteckRealEstateVideos here’s an idea for a future video. Could you please make a detail video on the process of the car delivery and the issues you mentioned you had to address and get fixed?

Hey that's a great idea! I love that there is a ton of space under the seats too, compared to other cars.
Keep in mind a bottle getting under your brake pedal can be a extreme hazard - hopefully it has automatic braking at all times?

here in Sweden, a charging box is definitely recommended.

Great update review 👍👍! These will be a lot more popular in the UK when they abolish the £500+ annual road tax for buying a vehicle worth over 40k 🤬. What a reward for zero emissions 🙄
Ouch! I agree with you!
Zero emissions? You are not being honest, fossil fuels are still used for the majority of electricity ⚡️ production!
$150 for an electrician, that would be the cost for one to pick up the phone where I live.

Hi Cody,
Excellent video, well balanced with pros and cons.
To reboot the model Y, just press and hold both buttons on the wheel for 5 seconds. No need to walk away...

How does that help customers that suffered with bad 4G?
@@DerekDavis213 Tesla has pivoted to alternative components wherever possible in the past ~2 years based on supply constraints.
Their team can write new firmware for a different type chip or modem to take advantage of model availability instead of waiting on logic chips or components like an IC642. Similar components are the gate for Ford and why they’ve had to park thousands of Bronsos or sell to customers without key features.
With pivoting to a different modem comes some consequences because the alternates might not perform as well.

Does turning off Bluetooth on your phone, and then turning it back on help?
Seems like a quicker option than rebooting the Tesla.
Thanks for posting this review. I've been looking at the Model Y and the long range model sounds like a better fit for my driving style.
A part of me wishes I had gone with the long range and gotten FSD! For most people, I would probably actually recommend this at this point.
If you were honest it’s because you can’t afford it though.
I haven't had any of these issues with my model 3 or model y.
You don't really get a lot of extras with the performance. $10k into upgraded self driving would've been a better investment then nicer brakes
*Than nicer brakes.

Good points..Have a Y Performance Package too, every point is valid....the car isn't perfect, but it's close.
Thanks for watching!
How hard is it to just press the right button on the wheel and then say “Open Glovebox”?
For this friggin guy?... I couldnt even imagine...
It isn’t available on the Model Y yet.
still less convenient than just opening it.
Thanks for sharing. A few things:
People are crazy here in that regard…
Geez, lots of little annoyances for a $67,000 + car!
Zero issues on delivery here, and this was back with an early VIN in 2018. I had to stop watching midway through this peculiar review. . . .
Try that with a fossil key fob. . . .
Turn your review camera on while you drive. You can see in all the blind spots and it’s way better then trying to look out of the small back window
A fair and honest review on the Y. Great job!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it
You're right. This car is not a vehicle to get you from point A to point B. It gets you to point A to a charging station, then wait for 30 minutes then maybe point B lol
Never had that issue once actually. The charging times are massively overstated.
@@CodySteckRealEstateVideos how long is the charging time to go from 0 to 80% ?
It's literally an informative cons video about the car. Why are some people so bitter about his points?? He made this video just so people can have the realistic look of how owning tesla is like so you people don't get disappointed when you can afford one. If you're looking for a big flaw about the car, maybe there isn't one cuz It's not in one of his points?? Like relax, atleast he owns a tesla
They are bitter because a review on just 1 car is statistically irrelevant.
You the only person so far with such honest review thanks
Depends on where you live, I find FSD to have no problems in the summer but doesn’t work at all in winter where snow covers the majority of the lanes.
I wouldn't call it a "launch" of their FSD program. This is just adding customers into their testing program to help accelerate the development. By the time the software is ready for a proper 'launch' they'll be rolling out robotaxis.
FSD is a massive rip off. 10 years away ( at least).
Skip the FSD
Those mountains looked familiar and then I saw the Utah plates and it all made sense. Miss those Wasatch Mts sometimes.
Why wouldn’t you just get a wall connector and a 60 amp breaker? It’s so minimal compared to the cost of everything else. Then you charge 44mph.
@@cadjoe77 because it's not necessary?
@@tonyc6996 so performance edition is, fancy wheels are, but a charger is not? Yea ok. 👌
To restart the touchscreen, press and hold both scroll

That water bottle is way to big bro, i have a sienna and the water bottle wouldn't fit lmao
