This is a real-time demonstration illustrating technique and patient interaction involved in the Cardiovascular Examination.
The film was produced by practising clinicians to aid the teaching of clinical examination skills. It starts at the point when the clinician has finished taking the medical history and begins the clinical examination.
Presented by Dr Adrian Stanley PhD FRCP Consultant in Cardiovascular Medicine. Produced and Directed by Dr Irene Peat FRCR FRCP, Dr Nicholas Port MBChB BSc and Jon Shears.

I am a retired neonatologist. I wish we had these demonstrations when l was still practicing medicine. By the way, l think the British medical education is one of the best in the world.

At 2:55, the doctor places his palm across his chest & it seems to me that he looks to the left & the right of the patient's stomach area.

Is it no longer considered necessary when listening for aortic systolic murmurs to use the bell of the stethoscope with the patient sitting forward in end-expiration?
Anthony Cummins this is for aortic regurgitation, a low pitched early diastolic murmur heard best using this accentuation.
