naysayers be damned. I have owned an X Type for 2 years now. Hands down, the best car I have ever owned. I am proud to say I own a Jaguar X-Type. Paintwork is perfect. Handles like a dream. Looks like a TRUE Jaguar, inside and out. There isn't a single thing I would change on this car. Maybe I have the only perfect X-Type, or maybe people need to be less critical about this particular car. After all, the Car is only as good as the care you put into it.
I am 26 and have owned an x type for 5 years, purchased when I was 21. It currently has 92,000 miles and is in excellent condition. I have the 2 litre diesel manual. The only thing that bugs me a little bit about the car is that it only has 128bhp and doesn't feel powerful enough for my liking
I purchased a Jaguar X type 6 months ago. (2.5 V6) The dashboard was slightly damaged by ultraviolet rays, but this is not a major problem during driving. I already owned a Mercedes S-Class, BMW and AUDI as well. I really enjoy servicing and inspecting cars thoroughly. Before I bought a JAGUAR car, I was very scared. This was because people said it was a car with many breakdowns and problems. However, after actually driving this car for more than half a year, I think the quality of this car is very good compared to the current used price. The Jaguar Of course, there are some chronic bad symptoms, but they are by no means something that cannot be corrected. This car doesn't have the intense, razor-sharp drive of a BMW. Anyone who likes these things should definitely buy a BMW. Jaguar drives smoothly and powerfully. In particular, the quality of the car paintwork is absolutely perfect. The Jaguar This is just a rumor and not fact. I am so disappointed with the design of vehicles being released these days. This is because the unique character and design of each car has collapsed, and all manufacturers of today's cars have the "same face" and "same personality." Jaguar X type is the last car with Jaguar's unique beauty.
I have owned all sorts of cars over the years but this 2.2 x type is just so lovely to drive and when the turbo kicks in in 3rd gear it makes me smile every time, nimble, luxury
Had two X Types, a 53 plate 2litre petrol, manual, black with parchment leather trim, which got written off, and a 55 plate metallic light blue 2•5 AWD auto. Great to drive, reliable and comfortable. Miss them, especially the manual. I used to turn the radio off so I could listen to it. Beautiful cars, sadly missed
Likewise - 8 and a half years - and I intend to keep it going till I drop! Brilliant car in every way, including looks. Badge snobs are welcome to give it a miss. Fools!
Good review except for the cretinous, obligatory, irritating music. I have a 55 plate 2.0d SE, it's immaculate although admittedly it's been pampered and only done 65K miles. Aside from a power steering unit, all other costs have been general wear and tear and I don't accept the myth of the X Type unreliability. Personally, I prefer the older grille, walnut veneer and earlier style leather seats, these features are more in keeping with the traditional image, although the alloy wheel designs were improved on later models. I wanted a manual which was one of the reasons I went for the 2.0d rather than the 2.2d which are nearly all autos. The 2.0d also has no DPF to worry about although.its not as smooth as the 2.2d. X Types have a few minor foibles but overall they are hugely underrated.
A very good report. I only wish that the 2.5ltr petrol model had been just a front wheel drive with a practical compact 4 cylinder engine instead of the V6. The 3ltr V6 model which I discarded quickly was very difficult to work on and not as practical as it could have been in its mechanical design. The classy X Type however does look good both inside and out though.
I had a very base model 2.0 diesel classic in 2005 new. Cloth seats, manual, list price GBP19,995. It was an excellent car, 18 mths and 60,000 miles later I chopped it in for a new Stype 2.7 D XS, an even better Jag. jags of this era were heavily influenced by Ford but the fit and finish was not Ford. Great car
I want a 2.1ltr petrol and I have one lined up. I had the 3ltr model and it went like a rocket, but I didn't need a rocket. The 2.1ltr is a more practical car without the transfer box and rear wheel drive mechanical problems. The 2.1ltr's plugs and coils can be checked and or removed without removing the intake manifolds. Now if I wanted a fast safe car I would buy a sports car that was low slung and designed especially for speed, not a four door family sedan that sits on top of the wheels but rather between the wheels. Shows like "Top Gear" have incuraged the modern car buyer into buying a car that is a combination of family car and a sports car, and what we have now, is a lots of lookalikes which are a bad example of both. Forget the speed and performance and appreciate how the X Type is one of the last traditional classy true luxury cars that came with leather, wood and style. Please don't tell me they are no match for the X300 because I know that, as I have one of those too.
@@da_great_mogul I did - 7 years ago. Now 21 years old, it still looks AND handles like a brand new car. You've clearly never owned one - so your derogatory comment can be considered to have the depth of a grain of sand.
@@heywirwollen5651 Not that great, almost same as the 2.5. I think you are better off buying the 2.5 or 3.0 V6 with AWD (with 60% of power going the rear wheels)
Just making one bit of correction there, it's not based on the Mondeo, only the drivetrain is the same as the Ford Mondeo, that too just the engine and gearbox, the ECU and electronics are all different to that from Ford. I have owned a 2008 2.0 Turbo-Diesel model for around an year now, it's black on black similar to the one featured in this video, is actually much more responsive than my 2010 BMW 520D E60, and it rather handles like a Sports-Coupe. I have also owned a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C180 Kompressor W204 Elegance, and I have to say that the Jaguar X400 is actually much better at doing what the Benz and the BMW could do, one can very easily reach over 200km/hr. and you simply have no sensation of speed.

I've owned 14 different cars and SUVs but the best of them all was Jaguar X-type 3.0 great handling, silent, soft leader seat and good engine.

I also have a 2.2 D with155 hp it goes very well, the line is timeless while the competitors of the time today show all the years they have.

thank, you.

10 years. nice bro thats insane. alot of people dont even get half of tat out of their cars.

I thought my '10 a4 was a guzzler, but i love that v6.

I love my 2.2L diesel 😁
You never came across the 2.1L front wheel drive only petrol models then???
No thanks. I did they did a great job with the 2.5 V6 and permanent AWD with 60% of the power going to the rear wheels.
Front wheel jaguar 🤢
Been offered a 2 litre diesel 53 reg for 700quid should I buy it.

Well done, confirm every word of yours. 🙂 Nevertheless it seems you forget to mention about a 2.1 V6 front wheel drive option.

W204 kompressor not reliable?
I think Merc copied cla,cls from x-type,Completely Next Level of quality Inside and outside.
I've own 2 litre se estate love it. The only gripe it the crap sat nav
They should have put the 2.7L v6 diesel out the s type in this car brilliant engine
Agreed and they should've put 6 speed in all petrol V6 AWD models as well.
