Boost Your EMTB Speed and Confidence with These 6 Game-Changing Upgrades
If you are looking for ways to upgrade your electric mountain bike (EMTB) and take your riding experience to the next level, there are several specific enhancements that I would recommend.
Firstly, upgrading your tires can make a significant difference in the performance of your EMTB. Look for tires with a grippier tread pattern and wider width to improve traction and stability. Next, upgrading your brakes can provide more stopping power and greater control while riding downhill, especially on steep or technical terrain.
Another upgrade to consider is changing your cranks to 155mm. This can help you to pedal more efficiently, especially when climbing hills. Upgrading your suspension can also greatly improve your riding experience by providing better shock absorption and smoothing out rough terrain.
Lastly, upgrading your pedals and customizing your cockpit can also help you to feel more confident and in control of your bike, allowing you to ride with greater ease and comfort.
By making these upgrades, you can take your EMTB riding to the next level and tackle even the most challenging trails with greater speed, confidence, and overall enjoyment.

Legend Riders I trust all is well... This is my list of The Best 6 Upgrades for your e-bike. If you could only change one thing on an ebike what would it be?
Fork
Congrats on the new sponsors Sam, nice to see your channel growing, good job fella ;)
Thanks a ton!
Maybe, just maybe, a little too much promotion of sponsors of channel?
I know it pays the bills but cubic spending is not what Im in E bikes for.
My Spectral ON was a constant pedal striker, until I firmed up the rear shock and found it still rode great, but didnt low ride so much.
I almost never bash pedals on rocks now. The bike really works great as delivered.
Yep I hear you, but unfortunately if Sam’s Bikes doesn’t have Sponsors then there is no channel. Glad you got the bike working better I would definitely check out 155mm cranks but they are a game changer for me
Great advice. Proper shoes was a game changer for me and setting up the cockpit properly gave me a lot more confidence.
Thanks mate
Thanks sam for the discount on cranks! Keep up the great videos!!
Thanks mate
I got an suspension upgrade for my reign e+0. It's called "Buchsenkalibrierung". So basically the bushings in the fork are being aligned perfectly straight, so the stancions slide with almost no friction. It's supposed to feel like a coil fork in the first section of travel but I did not have the chance to test it properly yet.
When you come to Germany again check out fast forward suspension in Trier, as far as I know they are the only Bike shop that can do this.
Hi. I have this bike more than 2 years. Now is more when 5 000 miles.
And this is my upgrade:
SRAM X0 T-Type Eagle E-MTB 104BCD Transmission AXS Groupset 10-52t.
Fox Transfer Factory Dropper Seatpost - 30.9mm x 200mm - (2022/23)
165mm cranks
And some small stuff.
Hope Tech 4 V4, just ask Rob R or the Wolf
Yep I need to try Hope V4
Yes, hope e4 or v4. The best brakes ever !!!
Hope tech 4 v4 with SS braided lines and 220mm vented rotors. It can stop the rotation of the earth on its axis.
After shimano saint, shimano xt and magura mt 7 i think i like trp dh evo the most. Perfect brakes, super modulation, massive braking power and mount on and don't think about anymore brake✌️
That’s great to know! I’m starting my testing soon
Great job thanks for the info
Thanks 🙏 rider
I've got this GIANT Reign E+0, I added a crank brothers longer dropper post, DHR/DHF, Speedbox, clipless pedals and that's it...... perfect!
Thanks mate! It’s a beast of a ebike
Sam get a pair of Specialized dual gel gloves . i had pain in the same place you mentioned until i bought these gloves . they have double thickness gel pads on the palm . super effective sorry i don't have the link .
I have a 24 trek rail 9.9 and the sram code silve are shiite, need my xtr back and I have 160mm cranks and the shorter are actually better.
Before changing the Sram Codes out try a full bleed and some galfer brake pads. Sometime it’s actually the bleed and cheap pads they put on them
Ok Ill try that 12k for a 9.9 and needing new brakes day 1 sucks. I did a full review on it when i got it if your interested. @@SamsBikes
Essential upgrade on my reigne+ 0 , 150mm merida cranks, rockshox ultimate coil and GX AXS. Swapped tires to magic mary after your recomendations and it is killer. The reigne+ is a trail weapon but you have to change tires, shock and cranks to get the full potential. i love this bike. a light assist reign e+ woud be awesome too
Nice one mate! I totally agree this bike is a weapon
I really love the MT7s, great power and feeling but... as many others my lever started leaking so i replaced them to XT levers. Waiting Magura to offer new robust levers.
Mate I’ve been saying it for years! Love Magura MT7 brakes but we need some pro levers
I am on the maxxis DHR2/Aggegai atm but really interested to try Schwalbe next season
You should give them a try but make sure you get ultra soft at the front and soft on the back and super DH casing
I put the Formula Cura 4 on my Reign E+ and love the feel of them.
I’ve tried them once very nice feeling brakes
Grip tip... If you like fat grips, get the Meaty Paws from The Sensus. ;-) Got them on both bikes. Love em..
I need to try them great tip
I used to have Shimano but now I bought a pair of Formula Cura 4 brakes. They have great modulations and lots of power but my hands get tired on long downhills. From now on I'm sticking with Shimano, (maybe the Saints) because you don't need to pull the brake lever too much to have all the power :).
Thanks for sharing, I used to love Shimano but think I rather Magura but I wish they made their levers stronger
Slx with galfer rotors and galfer purple ebike pads are awesome
go 220mm rotor to get better power with much less effort.
currently on magura mt7 but lusting after hope v4 bling .. ❤
Yep 👍 I need to try these Hopes not sure why no DH teams are not using them if they are so good?
On my second hand reign e+2 I found a fox x2 kashima. Then I swapped from my old bike the 2023 zeb ultimate and bought a brand new magura mt7 with hope disc ( I found on it). Coming from a Scott genius eride, this is a real bomb. The height from the ground is a little problem. But with a mullet I think is common
Yep it’s a crazy good ebike! Try 155mm cranks they are a game changer for me
Sooner or later I will do
I've got code RS on my Levo and didn't like them at all at first. Nearly pulled the trigger on a set of hope or maguras. I have the mt5 on another bike and they're brilliant.
But i decided to try bleeding my codes first. I used the syringe negative pressure trick to "boil" the air from the dot5 fluid and since then they've been amazing, just as good as my maguras. Dead easy and way cheaper than new brakes.
That’s a very good point, brand new bikes sometimes come with a terrible bleed and terrible brake pads! Great work for saving some cash and getting them running well!
@@SamsBikes yes definitely Sam. Pretty sure mine were bled really badly because the difference is night and day
on my bike I really would find it hard to put all in order , I really like my axs dropper , and the latest hope v4 brakes
Haha I know mate it’s hard to get in order
I'm happy with my code r brakes. Scared to try anything more expensive. Why make the brakes I like the brakes I don't want? I would have to change out 3 different bike brakes, then. Gx cable shift or slx is plenty good for me. I'm very picky about suspension, though. My decoy has 180mm zeb ultimate and a coil ultimate. Levo is getting a 170mm zeb ultimate and a vivid with a cascade link.
Good point for me Brakes are very important more then suspension I like fox and rockshox
Is tacky chan good for climbing as well? I doub because the bite it is not square.
I’ve found them a very good all over tire, I normally go Magic Mary front and back and I think they do offer a little more grip but the Tacky Chans are so much faster rolling.
I do a lot of climbing on my yeti160e i use eddy current and bite much better than DHII “climbing” replaced the eddy current for DH22 and wow those tires are super good
@porroco I think the best climbing tire I have used is the ultra soft Magic Marry at about 20psi for the EWS power stages
Just took delivery of my giant reign E+1 2024.
Congrats mate
@@SamsBikes will take your suggestion on the cranks. 👍
Hey Sam, what kind of cockpit widths are you running on your bikes? Cheers
780 mate
I think maybe I'm so easy to please with brakes. I've always loved my Shimanos, I liked a lot the Maguras, and I was amazed with the new Sram Codes... Wait... They are all top notch. Hahaha
Hahaha 😝 you easy to please but if you had to pick one?
@@SamsBikes probably I'll stick to my Shimanos, but if I'm sharing bikes with you, the Sram are way better to swap from euro to moto style hahaha
Formula Cura 4👑
I don't have more powerfull brakes👌🏼
How do I upgrade my skill???
Hahaha just take time
if you wait long enough like me ,you will be too old to do anything about . 😂
I use magura MT7 pro with magura disc brakes
Why do you use MT8/MT7 on your bike
Haha because I broke the MT7 lever and could only get a MT8 lever. Magura really need to pro metal lever
@@SamsBikesthat's what shigura is for 👌
I love every brake except sram! 😂
Let’s see what you think of the TRPs
