Hi Andy, Dave from Progression Bikes in Dunkeld here. love the new ride(same as mine) next time you are in Dunkeld pop into the shop and I'll talk you through how to loose the kiox display/ cables and all the best bits of your new Mondy
Much appreciated Dave😊 I’ve since got the Kiox removed.
Will pop in anyway for more info and a bit of crack👍
Gutted I didn't watch this video before being in Dunkeld last weekend. Definitely keep to remove mine, before it ends up on the bushes😬
Stuck in a comment earlier but it dissappeared. I have the same bike and love it, its an absolute beast of a thing. I have had to change the wheels as the rear snapped a few spokes, i run cascade calipers which made a huge improvement, also have an AXS mech/dropper and ditched the Kiox. You will love the Ohlins!.
Surprised about the wheel, these are meant to be super tough.
AXS is just too much extra money for me to justify right now as the bike was enough as it is😬
The Ohlins is a known entity though, already love it on my Claymore👌
Love the look of the bike Andrew. Looking forward to seeing vids of this one.
Coming soon!
Excellent review Andrew and very honest. It will be interesting to hear how you get on with Bosch. Had the same story with Shimano E010 fault requiring a new motor on my Orbea Rise. Reckon there must be a Mount Fuji style pile of these motors somewhere in Japan with the amount of people who have replaced them.
Yeah, when you need to replace the motor because of a failed sensor 🤦🏼♂️
Imagine the outcry if a car manufacturer had changed your car engine 3 times in 20mths.
Nice to see you havn't thrown this one in a lake 😂 I was looking at getting this one but went for a whyte 180 and love it,looking forward to see how you get on with it 👍
Same water the last one went in as well 😂
I don’t know that much about Whyte, but that new lightweight one looks really good.
Congrats on the new bike mate.
Not had a problem with my Vitus. Strange how some have loads of trouble and some don’t .
See you soon .👍🏻
Plenty of people like yourself with no problems thankfully Shaun. Not the case for me though😢
@@McTrailRider would love another E bike but my missis would kill me if I bought anymore bikes again this year.😥
Love the new bike Andy. Wishing you many happy miles on it.
Thank you Graeme
We (me and wife) have just done exactly the same except that we bought the base model Crafty which has 38mm Fox Performance suspenders. Had to get away from Shimano due to motor failures and problems with the useless, overengineered and badly implemented derailleur clutch.
First impressions of the Crafty are that it is very heavy in comparison to our Orbea Rise M20s and we love its suspenders.
If you're struggling with walk mode on steep loose stuff, your LBS can reduce the speed to a very comfortable 2km/h.
I'll be interested to see whether you get rid of the Kiox display and wiring as I'd like to do the same.
Nice! Good choice.
Derailleur wise, I totally disagree based on my experience. Only had to service one time in many years.
The Crafty is definitely quite heavy compared to the Rise, but it rides lighter than the Vitus, despite being about the same weight.
I think you'll love the new bike I've got the Mondraker Crafty XR and it certainly improved my riding and confidence geo and feel of the bike took a little getting used to but now all my times have improved, let's see how you go
All the best Arthur
Interesting to hear Arthur, after two rides, I have noticed I need to approach cornering a bit differently to what I’m used to.
Genuinely helpful review that will help people decide before parting with their hard earned!
Your channel should be the benchmark for the industry!
Keep up the good work.👍
Very glad that you found the information useful Michael.
Knowledge is power 👍😜
Wow, that new bike looks mint. I look forward to your reviews of it. 👌
Coming soon!
Stunning new bike, congrats . Suspension looks lovely. Just took delivery of my first ebike (turbo levo) can't wait to get out on it
A very good choice sir 👌
@@McTrailRider why thank u sir. Looking forward to seeing ur adventures on the new rig
Looks unreal Andrew! Good test on HBR and Mastermind too ;)
You know it 👍😉
Great looking bike buddy 👍 looking forward watching you on this 🚴 😜👌👌👌
Looking forward to it 👍
Great call, I too have a Mondraker crafty, bought it from progression bikes, and an awesome machine.
Good to hear, and glad you got it from Progression cycles 👍
@McTrailRider best place to go in Perthshire, although my bike now in 🇨🇦
Nice upgrade!
Really curious why are you so keen on the Öhlins suspension.
I myself have a Mondraker Level 2020 and I'm pretty satisfied with it, although I still struggle with dynamic ride height on the front, the Lyrik having a rather big appetite for travel.
Enjoy it to the max and really looking forward to some long term impressions in about a year or 2. Cheers, mate!
I’m lucky enough to have three bikes, Fox, Rockshox and Ohlins split between them.
I preferred the Ohlins because of its well damped default setting. This forced me to ride a more damped setup than what I was used to.
Once I got used to it though, and after I went fast on it, I realised that I could ride faster and more composed on Ohlins.
I’ve since tried to replicate the feeling on my Fox suspension, but can’t quite manage to get there.
Great to hear not only your take on the new Mondraker bike but also the Vitus which, finances allowing, would consider buying a newer version of. Have been running Bosch performance CX motor on my ebike for years and with only one error message(🤞😂) has run well, albeit a lot less than I imagine you have been out on the Vitus. Very informative thanks for sharing, cheers! 😁🤙
Can’t argue with the value of Vitus, a good option for so many people👍
Awesome bike, been running the Crafty R for a year and its a beast, ran a mullet set up previous to the Mondy but the geo on the Crafty really lends itself to full 29". Its a long bike but surprisingly nimble of the tighter stuff. Rig......
Good to hear. I’ve found that I’ve had to change my technique a little for cornering, but it goes well👍
Happy new bike day, it looks great. I myself have just taken delivery of a Canyon Spectral CF9 with the new Shimano EP801 motor. I hope I don't get the error code you got. My trusty old Cube Stereo hybrid 140 HPC TM 625 is still going strong and I'll use it for local runs
I do think that the later Shimano motors fair a bit better, so here’s hoping 🤞
@@McTrailRider I hope so. Like you I'm on my third Bosch motor, the first two had error code 550 which is water ingress / corroded motherboards so it's wise to slabber dialectic grease at the wiring connectors to ward water off.
@@fuckinellitsraymo will do just that, cheers 👍
You're getting there ;o) the first time you got a real good looking and great spec'd e-bike. The Vitus and especailly the Pivot before that were a bit tough on the eyes.
Looks aren’t everything, but yeah, the last two bikes weren’t the best looking or best equipped.
I finally have an e-bike that is closer to the level of my Deviate’s.
Nice Bike Andrew i hope you get years of fun on it i love my bosch motor and sram rst brakes, chainsets and every thing ive got on my Xduro Nduro Pro Emtb, Your motor has good clearance and the slimline angles remind me of my bike which was voted 2nd best bike of all time in 2014 the only Emtb entry! and now 9 years later the geometry has evolved to the bikes we see today and seeing your new Emtb i could never afford one but am content with one of the forerunners👍🔥🔥🤘😎🤘🔥🔥
I remember when your bike came out, quite something 👍
The Mondraker’s geo isn’t to it there by today’s standards, but only because everyone else has caught up.
Nice new Ebike, looking forward to some new ebike content.
You and me both!
I really love Mondraker's design language with a straight line all the way from the headtube to the dropout.
100% agree! The look of a bike is important, weather we like to admit it or not.
@@McTrailRider it definitely is
Respect Andrew👊🏿.
I've always liked the look of Modraker frames.
Good looking bikes for sure 👌
Sweet ride!
Thanks!
My E Sommet came with the steering lock in the headset way out of adjustment. I had to disassemble the headset altogether. The cable routing was a pain in my backside, but it is doable for anybody that has some mechanical ability.
At the end of the day, it is just a little extra inconvenience. Annoying that you had to do it straight away though.
Hi, you wont need to drop the motor to do the brake hoses, i changed the ones on my crafty, i just used a rock shox barb adapter, attached the hose and fed it through the frame easily,
I’m looking to swap the side that the house comes out of though. I’m hoping to cross over at the motor if possible 🤞
@@McTrailRider ok , I thought you were swapping a cable from each side to the other side, great choice in bike though, I love my rr and the kiox 300 is easy to remove just need to take the main lead from the motor to the control unit
favorite bike of all time was my vantage rr back in '16. frame cracked at the top of the rear triangle and i my warranty was void because i failed to enter some paperwork. to replace it i looked for the plus version of the vantage and they had done away with the vantage line :(.
Good to hear that your favourite bike is from 9 years ago, says a lot about Mondraker👍
Shame it ended the way it did though.
Nice one cove. Looking forward to see how you get on with this. I ride a Mondraker Crafty normally asthmatic bike and looking at eBikes so will follow with interest.
The logical next move for you then 😉
Half way expected you to chuck it in the water to begin with 😂 - nah but good looking bike, always wanted to try a Mondraker. What size did you go for? Large I assume? Any concerns with the longer geometry Mondrakers usually have?
I kept a bit further back from the water this time 😂
Went for large, I’m 184cm. The geo isn’t that far off the norm these days tbh.
The '23 XR is lovely, I find the Ohlins perfect for my heavier frame when compared to the RR F'38s. Great bike, enjoy it 😎👍
I do love the Ohlins👌
Nice ride Andy 🤟
Bosch is the way forward
I think so 👍
Best looking ebike on the market IMHO. I have a Mondraker FPodium DC R and it’s incredible. Currently have a Levo gen 3 for ebike but I’d love to ride a Mondraker ebike.
It’s a good looking bike, the carbon version even more so 👌
Beautiful ride, maybe biased on my part as I recently purchased the same bike, I swapped out the rear shock for the ohlins coil and Im smitten. Its my first ebike so nothing to compare it to, suffice to say I love it
Great choice indeed! Good time to get a first e-bike too. Things have been getting better and better over the last few years👍
Looks crackin! Nice one! I met Jamie at GT a few weeks ago - trying to sell the idea of getting an e-bike to him :). Where was that trail, the one at the end of the video?
I’m sure he’ll get one soon enough 👍
The last trail was Mastermind in Ballater.
Hi mate, I’ve got the RR, I ditched the display and wires straight away! Remove the top tube controller there’s a link wire from that to the kiox, get rid of that, the remaining wire into the kiox then has to plug into the top tube controller bypassing the kiox! It’s a bit of a faff but way better, you also have to delete the kiox on the app! Good luck.
I appreciate the advice dude 👍 I had sheet worked it out and done the same as you. Much prefer the look and simplicity.
Couldn’t get on with the code brakes on my levo , swapped them out for the new hope v4’s , brilliant stopping power now ,
I’m actually going in the opposite direction. I love the Hope’s are fantastic! Just too much noise for the videos unfortunately.
Great choice there Sir. Totally with you on removing the Kiox, all you need is the mini remote and smart controller, no need for screens on bikes. Get it off 😅
Totally agree
sweet bike Andrew, enjoy!
Thanks! 👍
Enjoy your new bike Andy 🤙
That's the plan!
Hi Andrew, what size did you get ? I’m ditching my Megawatt after similar EP8 problems, this might be a great option 🤔
I went for a large. I’m 6”1’.
I’m happy with the size, but it is a big bike overall.
Thanks for the reply, I’ve gone in a different direction now to the crafty. Stayed with Nukeproof but sram powered 🫣😎
@@user-kh2hh4hq9x fair do’s, that’s a great bike too 👍
Welcome to the mondraker club 😁 I've got the RR....you will definitely want to replace the code R it came with! Pretty much had zero issues with mine...great bike
I’ve been pretty happy with the brakes so far and I really like the rsc’s. Would be interested to hear your opinion on the R’s.
@@McTrailRider I think I was just maybe unlucky...had a few sticky piston issues! It was better when changed to galfer pads tho but was just always worried about the pistons so just got hopes!
But the mondraker has been awesome....done 2500 miles mainly natural rides and mountains and hardly missed a beat!
@@shannonmtb ironically I find sticking pistons to be the only and most common problem with Hopes.
The new ones are much better though.
Good to hear that the bike overall has been good to you, here’s hoping mine can be just as reliable🤞
@@McTrailRider 🤣 ironic indeed!
Can't wait for the vids on the mondraker....enjoy 😁🤙
Love the Vitus
It’s a great bike tbh, and even better value 👍
Lovely bike, my only gripe is the colour, not keen on yellow.
I’m the same, it’s not a colour I would normally choose. It’s much nicer in real life my opinion.
@McTrailRider. I can help you with removing the screen and extra cables. There is a nice easy way to swap over the brake lines as well. No motor removal needed
I’ve done managed both, but thanks for the offer.
@@McTrailRider no worries at all. Looks so much cleaner without the display and extra cables.
How complicated is to replace the rear brake line in case of a brake swap?
Looking at the trails HBR & MM I guess you demoed & purchased from Ballater then?
I demo’d during the Thrive event, along side an Orbea Wild.
I left it a few weeks without doing anything, until I saw a good deal on the Mondraker.
Which trails were you riding? Any chance of adding trail names and locations to the clips?
Kinlochleven, Dunkeld, Heartbreak ridge and Mastermind (Ballater) in that order.
I've still got the old Bosch CX (Gen 2) and aside from a full rebuild in 2021 (just worn out bearings) it's never let me down or thrown an error code in 5 years...have a friend who went through 3 or 4 E8000 motors in that period- randomly stopping working, error codes, can't cope with water and they are effectively "disposable" as they cannot be rebuilt , and heard the EP8 is just as crap..... Would never buy a bike with Shimano motor and maybe that's why Vitus teamed up with Bafang in their Mythique LT releases....probably fed up getting their good name tarnished by Shimanos pish motors....Cracking bike BTW!!!
Funny you mention the E8000, mine was no problem at all, and is still going strong for the new owner. The EP8, not so much.
Bosch definitely seem to be the benchmark at the moment👍
Would suggest changing the chain to a XX1 or Xo1 when you have to change it, they are a lot stronger and last longer
Noted 👍
Would have a good time on that at Ae!!
Indeed, other locations are available 😜
I do like the look of mondraker and I understand your Reasons for changing motor manufacturers, shimano need get there finger out and improve Reliability Especially with Electrical problems, enjoy the new bike .
All motor manufacturers seem to have their issues, some more than others though 😬
You mullet it I would change the wheel, then change brakes, put a better dropper post on,you remove the kiox display use remote,if change to hope brake, just use the brake for rear brake
I’m not bothered with going mullet, and I also like the brakes. Agreed on the dropper and display though.
Where did you purchase the bike stand from?
Had to google it, it’s been that long since I bought it.
It’s made by Mtb hopper
@@McTrailRider thanks for that. Looks a good bit of kit.
Loving the look on the new steed
its prabobly the most beautyfull biks in my opinion Mondraker frames look so good is it true that vitus is going out of busines??
The silhouette is stunning!
I’m not sure about the future of Vitus at the moment, but they are having financial problems for sure.
Have you seen Sam pilgrim's canyon he had a new sponsor and they have some nice spikes but I like yours also the yellow and the terrain where you ride is always interesting. ⚡👍💯
I haven’t seen his latest videos, but I know that he enjoys E-biking.
Thanks for the kind words😊
Brave having the new bike so close to water again 😂
Same water too 😂
Chuck a set of the Galfer Pro pads into the Codes and they work sooo much better.
My go-to manufacturer for pads 👌
What trails are in the riding footage?
Loads of different ones, Kinlochleven and Dunkeld on the Vitus and trails around Ballater on the Mondraker.
wondered which one you would go for. Well don't for not letting it fall into the water this time 😂
Trying my best to keep this one dry 😜
Just bought the Crafty R. Class bikes
Nice! 👌
Best bikes!! Had mine a few months, brakes are junk as are the tyres 😂 apart from that it’s amazing
Oh and a 210 oneup doesn’t go right home in the frame…….
I like the brakes tbh, tyres, not so much. Don’t know why they spec’d the harder compound.
Surprised by the dropper, thought a large would take a 210mm😬
Hi mate, I like your e-bike
So do I😊
I can’t bear them. Unsubscribed.
@@bjorntoulouse9080 well I’m definitely going to lose sleep over that 😂
How much does that thing weigh?
It’s 25kg, which is the same as the Vitus. It feels lighter though.
Perhaps you can make contact with Andrew Dodd (Doddy) formally of GMBN Tech as he now works with Mondraker... im sure some video together would be a great watch and perhaps widen your audience :)
I don’t Doddy would have the time for me, but I like the idea of course
@@McTrailRider no harm in asking. You have a sizable audience and even know the king after all 😆. Doddy seems a pretty approachable kind of guy so might as well let him know you joined the Mondraker club and see if it goes anywhere. Good luck if you do 🙂
Bif baf Bosch everytime 👍
Haha, I may agree😜
The best bike is the one you’re on.
Can’t argue with that
I had the same experience with the EP8 it’s utter shite! Not fit for purpose!! Sold the bike lost 3k!
Pissed me off to the point of vowing never to give Shitmano another penny! & putting as many others off as possible!!
Sorry to hear that Gareth. I’ve heard similar about the other motors from some, but my Shimano experience wasn’t great.
@@McTrailRider every single Shimano Ep8 in the group I ride with has failed several times while all the other brands have been faultless!
I’ve gone from 30 year Shimano fan boy to a hater!
@@garethstowell7389 that doesn’t bode well😬
. My mate has over 4000 miles on his Shimano powered Orbea with not one single problem.
How tall are u mate?

did you not float test this one ,, 0))
Not yet 😂
Nice, did your king Charles video pay for the new bike..?!
Pretty much, if I’m honest.
@@McTrailRiderthat's why we love you mate. A truly decent man.
Doddy would say yes
You think so? Seems like a nice guy tbh.
Look forward to the rude reviews n new trail content
Looking forward to getting to know this bike better👍
Don't want to seem like a knob but just to say your looking tired bud hopefully you just need a good sleep 😴 😅
Honestly, that’s just my face. I’ve always had bags under my eyes. Don’t think I haven’t tried to get rid of them.
@McTrailRider aww well keep up the good videos 📹 😊
Mondraker doesn't value their customers, dont give them money
What’s your story?
Actually I clicked on this video to see if you still looked like the 60 year old that you looked like in the video the other day. What are you using for your video intros these days???
Any E-bike is the wrong bike.
In your opinion
The right e-bike....
Is no e-bike.
If it has a motor; then it's literally a motorcycle. Not a bicycle. Have a nice day.
Ha, there’s still people like you out there 🤔
Don’t hear this kind of comment much these days.
Away and take yer bike for a walk like all you ego maniac heroes do lol
That kiosk system is usually an upgrade, but i see a few companies putting them on. Cube in particular, which they rent at my local park. They seem to have a lot of niggly issues with the system... I'd be inclined to downgrade. The Garmin 530 does al that anyways and i can cross it to another bike ( I've got 3 now 😁)
I just don’t like the look and the clutter of it all. Super useful if you like your stats and info whilst out and about.
@@McTrailRider Yeah but it's nicer to have them in the bag and just ride sometimes, old school.... I put the 530 back where I can't see it when I'm on the eeber, but up front in the regular bike so I can see my heart rate. That way I'll know when I'm being soft
