  • The Turner Nitrous is a titanium trail hardtail that looks like it wants to party! On paper this thing looks absolutely flawless and it came in a 25.1lbs with pedals. The difference between this bike and most other bikes that come across my stand is massive. So much attention to detail. Bravo Turner, I'm a fan. Which features are your favorite? It seems to me that for years bikes have been getting increasingly aggressive and heavy. Riding lighter bikes with less travel has been a revelation for me lately. Since most of my mates got ebikes Ive found myself riding alone on less extreme trails and my hardtail just feels amazing on them. Im riding a Nukeproof Scout at the moment but would love someone like this at some point. Thanks for the review 😊

    Great Video, David Turner knows his stuff and is a great guy to deal with, my experience buying a Turner was fantastic. He is the OG as you said and talking about the details and considerations that go into a design is truly eye-opening, the attention to detail is always top notch not just for estetics but also for assembly and maintenance. David and Christina Turner are both passionate riders and it truly shows.

    Not that I ride a hardtail anywhere close to how nice this Turner is, but I still absolutely love it. I thoroughly agree, too many riders are over biked. My friend who bought a really nice full suss asked me if I had any regrets for buying my hardtail and not a full suspension, I answered with "Not one bit."
    After watching this review, this is at the top of my dream bike list of titanium ht's to hopefully purchase after I get my kids through college.

    On my 66-67HA hardtail, the hans dampf tires I installed as the front tire on that bike never washed out on loose corners. When my dad took that tire to put it on the front of his Forbidion dreadnaught, to make his bike have less rolling resistance, the front kept washing out on the same loose corners I made with my hardtail multiple times at my local trail. I realized that my hardtail was more balanced compared to my dads bike despite having less gripy tires. we ended up putting a slightly longer stem on the forbidion to get some more weight on the front which helped a little bit.

    That was awesome! I bought a new beautiful sexy carbon fiber full suspension a couple of years ago that was amazing on the bumps, but on the other 95% of the riding I do, it was slow and mushy. I mostly just looked at it for a year until I sold it for a simpler hardtail. Riding immediately got fun again.

    Having owned a Spot, it was amazing for its time, the word that comes to mind for the way Turner frames ride is neutral. They disappear beneath the rider and let the rider focus on the ride. They are great, and the fan boy hype of yesteryear around these bikes was for a very good reason. Glad to see Turner has managed to continue on especially with all the ups and downs of the bicycle market. Steve, so glad you're taking care of yourself and making your health priority. Thank you so much for giving back to the biking community with your insights and enthusiasm!

    Looks like an awesome bike. The only thing I'd want changed is to a 31.6 seat post. $2400 for a Ti frame is not a bad price.
    On a slightly different note, have you looked at the Growtac Equal cable brakes?

    I almost pulled the trigger on this frame about two years ago. Opted to go with the Sherpa Ti simply because they had a 142 dropout option that would allow my rear wheel to work. Got to hear Dave's thoughts on wheelset 'standards' as part of my research :) He's a quality guy.

    It’s a fact that DT is an experienced rider/owner. I think he’s fully aware that coming up with geo and build specs is not something you delegate to a person or department manager. He obviously takes this very seriously and very personal. This is one of the reasons why this bike left you speechless. Compared to a Giant or Trek or Specialized is kinda unfair, when we know that many of the decisions made by those companies are done by people that are just “warm bodies” that have landed a job with a big corporation. I remember reading a post on LinkedIn about a person that landed a job at one of those corporate bike companies and she was saying. I can’t wait to start mountain biking more. What a joke!

    • @hardtailparty
      @hardtailparty  9 месяцев назад

      So true. The reason I compare this to a specialized or trek is because most people don't realize there's a significant difference in how these ride. Still, with how many salaries and people are involved in a bike design at trek or specialized, they should be a lot better.

    • @hardmtnbiker
      @hardmtnbiker 9 месяцев назад

      @@hardtailparty for the most part Trek Specialized and other Corporate International companies don’t hire people who are passionate,experienced and hands on knowledgeable about bicycles. They hire people that just want a job and many of those people have zero experience with bicycles. It’s sad

    • @hardtailparty
      @hardtailparty  9 месяцев назад

      @@hardmtnbikermy experience has been different. Almost all the people I've worked with in those companies ride and they're very passionate. They could double their salary leaving the MTB world for aerospace, but they're passionate about MTB to stay there. That said, David Turner is an exceptional designer and an exceptional human being. He is top-notch and when you compare him to a mechanical engineer straight out of college with limited bike design experience, it's a noticeable gap. I believe that specialized and trek and the other giant companies could design incredible bikes, but I suspect the layers of middle management, bean counters, investors, and all the plagues of a big company hinder the designers and tie their hands a bit.

    • @hardmtnbiker
      @hardmtnbiker 9 месяцев назад

      @@hardtailparty true, my comment wasn’t a blanket statement about all people who work for those big corporations but rather a statement about the ability of those companies to leverage the knowledge of their most experienced employees that are chalking up the most miles riding and hours wrenching their own frames.
