    Also, I recognize that most of the captions fly by too quickly to read, so go to the following website, and I'll have them all linked there:

    "You are of your father the devil..." John 8:44a
    This is what Jesus says to those who reject His divinity. He tells them that they worship the devil and not God. And Jesus loved these people more than anyone else has ever loved anyone in the history of love.

    Man, it would've been great to include the part of Mormon doctrine that says that Jesus and Lucifer are spirit brothers

    • @politicalunrestproductions2805
      @politicalunrestproductions2805 8 лет назад

      Its true, in the same way that you and I are spirit family, and God is the father of all spirits.... So... yea... spirit brothers....Personally i think that that doctrine speaks to the potential of the human soul for both great good and great evil. We can either follow the path of the perfect example our brother Christ, or we can follow the example of our brother Lucifer the devil, and deny God and exist as he exists in misery for all eternity...of our own choice.
      Thats the thing about Mormon Doctrine, its all about family. Even heaven and hell are about family. Either we want to be apart of Gods family and live with him again, or we don't.... and we basically cut ourselves off by not accepting his love and grace through the atonement and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

    • @MPoweredChristianMinistries
      @MPoweredChristianMinistries 8 лет назад +28

      To say that Jesus is our "brother" is blasphemy. He was born of a virgin. He was born sinless. He lived a sinless life. He had a profound closeness with the Father. He existed in eternity and is ONE with the Father. He commanded everything that has ever been created and it obeyed Him. Not because God was doing it and instructed Him to say or do whatever He did. HE did it Himself. Even in His humanity He is far greater than just a mere example of how we are to act. He is God.
      Also, if we were all spirit children at one point it makes no sense why Jesus would be the only one who could do all this, or why He would need to be born of a virgin, etc. Also if Lucifer was a spirit child then how come he never existed as a human. Him and all the demons just skipped the whole "turning into a human part?" Family is great, and PART of what you say is good. However, God desires to be worshipped in Spirit and in TRUTH (John 4:24).

    • @superdubman999
      @superdubman999 8 лет назад +7

      No, not just any spirit brother in the sense of creation. It's because Mormons believe that God has a physical form and actually generated Jesus and Satan just as we humans do (or will do with eternal progression). It's not just "hey this is common sense". Also Jesus is God, Satan was just an angel. The only reason we are brothers of Christ is because Jesus became man. Angels do not share the same nature of God. Neither do we in that fullest sense either. Only through Christs incarnation

      Yeah. Learning to witness to Muslims and witnessing to Mormons pretty much follow the same principles. Both ways, you need to demonstrate in love that their works-based righteousness is ultimately going to fall short. There are superficial differences such as Islamic justification of violence for their faith, something Mormons are unlikely to do. Islamists hope that on a scale that their good deeds will outweigh their bad deeds while Mormons believe they can receive God's grace "after all they can do" (whatever that is) and IF they forsake all ungodliness. This was a great and concise video! I've studied both Islam and Mormonism and was surprised to find so many correlations. I seriously laughed when I learned that Mormonism teaches that black people are dark-skinned due to their "bad choices" and Mohammed called black people "raisin heads" and said the devil looks like a black man. With racism being found where it doesn't exist, I find it ironic that these two belief systems haven't been called out for it.

    • @hydehouse

      This is not accurate. Mormonism absolutely does not teach that.

    • @jostreet214
      @jostreet214 9 месяцев назад +7

      @@hydehouse You're right, I didn't quite word it correctly...Joseph Smith (the founder of Mormonism) taught that black people had dark skin because of past sins, relating it to the Mark of Cain and Ham. However, just like a new "revelation" in 1890 banned polygamy which was needed for Deseret to become the state of Utah in 1896, another "revelation" came in 1978 after the Civil Rights movement which allowed black men to hold the priesthood.
      I completely understand that Mormonism (specifically LDS) today rejects things like polygamy and racism. My point is that like Islam, certain beliefs that were once dogma got changed as the person in charge getting "prophecies" decided it was best decision as the situation called for. Why would anyone want to adhere to a belief system that has to go back and "fix" the wrong teachings of its founder?
      Both Islam and Mormonism teach that the Bible is corrupted. Both have their own holy books that contradict known scientific, historical, and archeological findings. Yet, there is no actual evidence of the Bible being corrupted; and the Bible has nothing disproven by scientific, historical, or archeological findings. Thankfully, it's easy, although time consuming, to verify all of this through personal research. I wish you well on your quest for truth.

      Wow... so Mormons are behind what exactly? 9/11? Or... what? In the past Mormons only ever took up arms to defend themselves... hell there was an extermination order in one state that said it was Legal to KILL us.... and still we didn't attack people.
      Unless you're talking about the mountain meadows massacre, in which case you are ignoring the fact that Utah was basically in a defacto state of war with the USA, and that those people came from a state that had MURDERED their families and driven them into starvation and led to the deaths of children and elderly in what is now known as the "trail of bloody footprints"... The people who committed the massacre, which it was just that, did so while their people were basically in a state of war, and thought they were defending themselves... additionally though it was covered up, those people involved did in fact get punished. There were hangings for those who led the Mormon militia in that murder... the incident was strongly condemned by LDS leaders at the time, and later on all documents were fully revealed and the entire incident was uncovered. It was covered up initially because of fears it would cause an actual war with the USA.
      Your comparison is disgusting and disingenuous in the least.

    • @davemitchell116
      @davemitchell116 8 лет назад +5

      If you are trying to claim the Fancher party came from Missouri you are absolutely wrong. They came from Arkansas and had no knowledge of any extermination order or any such "state of war.". They were innocent Christian people who were merely traveling to California for a better life. Their only mistake was setting foot in Utah territory. Those who were punished were scapegoats for the church. What is disgusting is they were massacred by an organization that wanted their gold and their horses, and tried to make sure no one could uncover the truth by murdering all but those children who would not be old enough to remember the incident.

    The 200+ Christians, including women and children, the Mormons wiped out on 09.11.1857 had nothing to do with LDS claimed persecutions and were not part of any war. They were peace loving, God fearing people who left Arkansas (that's Arkansas, not Missouri, Illinois, Ohio or New York) to find a better life for themselves in California. The held no malice against anyone. They carried gold and trading horses to barter for the expenses of relocating in a new state and a new life. Guess who wound up with the gold and horses -- the people who wanted the gold and horses in the first place. If it was condemned by the LDS leaders why was it Brigham Young's own son (adopted) who led the raid. There is still no historical evidence that Brigham Young and John Taylor were not sanguine to the attack. I find little difference between the innocents massacred on 9/11, 1857 and those on 9/11, 2001.

    • @heberfrank8664
      @heberfrank8664 8 лет назад +1

      I am not LDS. But I know the church has always claimed what happened was wrong and against Christ's teachings. That is very different than the literally millions of people killed and enslaved by Islam over the last 1400 years -- and going on daily now-- in complete harmony with the three holy books of Islam. Trying to make a equality of the two makes you look silly.

    • @davemitchell116
      @davemitchell116 8 лет назад +3

      There's a difference between claiming that whoever did it was wrong and accepting responsibility for the massacre. Brigham Young sent his own (adopted) son to carry out the slaughter. Osama bin Laden didn't personally plan the attack on America, but he was just as responsible. If the Mormon church really felt it was wrong why didn't they return the surviving children to their families in Arkansas rather than sending them to Utah families who would raise them in "the only true church

    • @heberfrank8664
      @heberfrank8664 8 лет назад

      My concern was comparing the one time MMM to 1400 years of Islamic Jihad.
      The wikipedia article does not support your claim that Brigham ordered Lee to perform the attack. It definitely was an evil thing, and Lee and surely others deserved to die for what they did.

    • @davemitchell116
      @davemitchell116 8 лет назад

      Wikipediia is an open source website and therefore should never be used as a final authority on anything. There are enough historical accounts written in the 19th century that indicate BY was sanguine to the attacks. I tried to keep an open mind about it for several years, but the more I read (and I have compiled quite a number of books on the subject in my library), the more I became convinced that BY had full knowledge of the massacre and could have prevented it by sending the word to the right people. As both governor and president of the church, little of anything, and certainly nothing of this magnitude could have happened in Utah territory with his sanction. The massacre was certainly a form of jihad which bears little difference from attacks by Muslims on their enemies.

    • @NjwillForever
      @NjwillForever 7 лет назад

      The 100-140 people who died were wrongly killed and the person who led the attack was executed for it. Due to his consistently contradictory statements (common for a person who is trying to cover himself after killing 100-140 people) it's unclear whether Brigham Young had anything to do with the massacre or not.

    This is a point for a Lutheran to ponder:
    _"Reestablishing the one true religion"_
    What did Luther think he was doing?

    • @hglundahl
      @hglundahl 6 лет назад

      _"He believed in Catholicism, but wanted to reform the Catholic church to reject unbiblical doctrine and follow the Gospel only."_
      You just contradicted yourself.
      Believing in Catholicism and rejecting its doctrine as "unbiblical" (a word where connotations like extra-biblical and anti-biblical are sorely confused) are opposed to each other. You could have said "he believed in Catholicism but wanted to reform the Church by rejecting Catholicism" or "he believed in unbiblical doctrine, but wanted to reform the Church by rejecting unbiblical doctrine". The former from a Catholic, the second from a really Protestant p o v.
      _"Abolishing relics,"_
      Contrary to:
      *"And some that were burying a man, saw the rovers, and cast the body into the sepulchre of Eliseus. And when it had touched the bones of Eliseus, the man came to life, and stood upon his feet."*
      [4 Kings (2 Kings) 13:21]
      Contrary to:
      *"When she had heard of Jesus, came in the crowd behind him, and touched his garment."*
      [Mark 5:27]
      Contrary to:
      *"So that even there were brought from his body to the sick, handkerchiefs and aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the wicked spirits went out of them."*
      [Acts Of Apostles 19:12]
      _"unbiblical rituals,"_
      Which extra-biblical rituals are anti-biblical?
      _"and superstition."_
      Where in a seamless garment do you cut up "this is faith" and "this is superstition" if you believe Catholicism?
      _"And making the scriptures available to people in their own language"_
      Already done more than once, even in German.
      _"so they they could read the Bible for themselves"_
      Not very realistic in a society where few had money to buy books and leisure to read. You confuse Luther with the Gideonites.
      _"so that they didn't have to blindly take the Church's word for everything."_
      Contrary to :
      *"But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth."*
      [1 Timothy 3:15]
      If the Church is the pillar and ground of the truth, we MUST take its word for everything. Note, with due diligence a to what is more or what is less likely to be the Church's word, rather than the personal opinion of a Church man. Suppose "John Paul II" had been pope in 1992, even so telling a few scientists nearly in private "Evolution is more than [just] a theory" does NOT trump Trent dogmatising that the Bible must be read according to the Church Fathers (none of whom were evolutionists, all of whom took the creation of each thing except Earth as clearly non-gradual, unless you consider the lapse of some hours between Adam's and Eve's creation as man being "gradually" created).
      _"The Catholic church capitalised on biblical illiteracy"_
      No.
      _Reformers_ capitalised in biblical illiteracy to be able to pretend being those bringing Biblical literacy to laymen.
      _"to exploit the public"_
      Let's see the exact effect of Reformation in Sweden as to Church "exploiting" the public.
      1) Monasteries and churches had land given back to _nobles_ (well, they were laymen, but hardly the mass of the public) and silver taken first time over to the _crown_ (which while certainly involving laymen was hardly the public);
      2) cereal tithes had in most dioceses been divided as : 1/3 to parish priest, 2/9 to the bishop, 2/9 to the Church, 2/9 to the poor, at reformation the tithing was reformed to divide as : 1/3 to parish priest, 2/3 to the crown. Before and after it was 10 % of cereals. Non-cereal tithes were 100 % to the parish priest, also 10 % of each revenue;
      3) Church was discouraged from appealing to generosity. _Including_ for the poor.
      _"Martin was simply trying to bring the corruption to an end, but the Papists love their corruption so they excommunicated him and thus the Protestant reformation was born."_
      None of the things you enumerated were _both_ corrupt _and_ true about the Catholic Church.

    • @kimmillard9445
      @kimmillard9445 5 лет назад +5

      A reformation is certainly different than a wholesale restoration. Joseph Smith taught that the original gospel had disappeared from the Earth entirely, not even close to what Luther taught. In any case, Luther pointed the way back with scripture. Joseph Smith entirely invented his own religion with entirely new supposed revelation.
