    You forgot to mention how that if the True Church ceased to exist, that means the gates of hell prevailed against It- which Christ explicitly promised would not happen.

      One similar point. By the same logic, Lutherans can't be the True Church, because they didn't exist until the 16th century.

      By the same logic, roman catholicism cannot be the True Church since it didn't exist for hundreds of years after Christ.
      The True Church is the wheat among the tares, the sheep among the goats. God knows His own, and His sheep hear His voice. Your man-made institution is decrepit and has ordered assassinations on heads of state, toasted the devil, and killed born again Christians through the centuries as "heretics", it is drunk with the blood of the saints (The REAL saints, not some roman approved roster of dark age nobel prize winners)

    • @michaelrex6948
      @michaelrex6948 8 лет назад +43

      I have news for you. Christ Himself founded the Catholic Church. "Roman Catholic" (or "Latin Catholic") is merely a Rite of the Church (albeit, the preeminent Rite, founded by HH St. Peter).
      So, no- by my logic, far from the Catholic Church being excluded from possibility, the only Church that has a possibility of being Christ's Church is the Catholic Church.
      Oh- and just so you know, the term "Catholic Church" was in use at least as early as the second century, and likely as early as the A.D. 60s (or slightly before). ...not exactly "hundreds of years after Christ".

    • @Colossians2v8

      Michael Rex
      Your church membership will not save you, the Only Way is Jesus, who said "I AM the Way" The True Church is the body of Christ, the Bride of Christ, the wheat among the weeds, the sheep among the goats. Stop idolizing your vain culture and tradition and cling to the hem of His garment in repentance.

      Don Ormsby They do nothing compared to what Catholic and protestant charities do. Especially when you consider the LDS's net worth. Where is their nationwide health network helping the sick and poor? Oh, there is no profit in it!!! The LDS helps only those they want to prey on. The LDS owns hotels, shopping centers and video production houses, but nothing to help the sick and indigent. LDS prophets are all about the PROFIT!!!

    • @mr.modern4419
      @mr.modern4419 8 лет назад +6

      Don Ormsby Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Mormons use welfare like drug dealers use free drugs to get people hooked. As far as the net worth of the church, I don't have an exact figure because the LDS is as secret as the Costra Nostra but you can look up the value of LDS holdings like the Marriott Hotel chain, Bonneville productions and get a pretty good idea. When you figure dollars per member with a true estimate of around 9 million members, not 14 million as advertised, the LDS do more than hold their own. Still there are no LDS hospitals. Mormons do nothing without strings attached, especially with their own members. I know too well, first hand.

    • @mr.modern4419
      @mr.modern4419 8 лет назад +3

      Don Ormsby WRONG. That so called chain of hospitals was only 3. But they don't have them any more, the weren't profitable. Face it pal, as far as charity is concerned, the LDS have missed the bus compared to other faiths. Its sad that you have to make excuses for your church's poor showing in helping anyone but a Mormon, and you don't do that very well either. My Mormon friends say their ward is more interested in getting their 10% than anything else. That leaves the LDS lots of room for improvement. Why don't you look into it.

    • @jordancookie7864
      @jordancookie7864 10 лет назад +2

      ***** To make it simple The gospel, or Good news is very simple. Humans beings broke God's law; God being both just and loving wanted to release human being from their sins but cannot let people off the hook, that would be unjust. To reconcile the entire world of their sins God begot Jesus to be perfect and a just sacrifice for the whole world's sins. John:3:16 By having a perfect sacrifice God can redeem every human being who accepts this gift and becomes born again.John 3:3

    • @jordancookie7864
      @jordancookie7864 10 лет назад +1

      ***** Isn't that why Jesus said to preach the gospel? Certainly those willing to be saved can be, but first they need to know who Jesus was and the meaning of the Gospel. How can Jehovah be responsible for sin? Is that the strawman arguement where he created Satan and then Satan fell?

    • @jordancookie7864
      @jordancookie7864 10 лет назад +2

      So you do use that God made satan and satin became evil deal? That's like saying you raise a child in a loving perfect environment and they go do something bad that is somehow the parent's fault. That is not logic, that is freewill.

    • @jordancookie7864
      @jordancookie7864 10 лет назад

      ***** How can one totaly ensure obidience and loyalty from their soldiers in battle? The way I see it is as long as there is freewill nad conciousness involved there is no way to ensure loyalty. Even people in great power were killed by those he trusted like ceaser he was stabbed to death in the Roman Senate on March 15th, 44 BC. I'm sure you know the story. No amount of discipline or respect can stop someone's pride, as is the case with Satan and his fall. Yahweh being Just wouldn't make the Angels all obidient slave zombies and gave them free will, just like human beings. If you can quote sun tzu can I quote spiderman? with great power comes great responsibility. If we have the power to choose I would expect a Just God to hold our decisions under a microscope because we have much responsibility. I'm assuming you are an ex christian or possibly an atheist, however I pray to Jehovah for your spirit. I'm sure it isn't what you want to hear, but it is NEVER too late to turn back to faith in God.

    • @jordancookie7864
      @jordancookie7864 10 лет назад +1

      ***** I know that very sin. I too thought I was unsaved because of it, however it is not what you think. There is no unforgiveable sin. I thought I blasphemed the holy spirirt by calling it profanity. however, Mark 3:28 states: Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
      It is unequivocally clear that the one unforgivable sin is permanently rejecting Christ (John 3:18; 3:36). Thus, speaking against the Holy Spirit is equivalent to rejecting Christ with such finality that no future repentance is possible. 'My spirit shall not always strive with man,' God said long ago (Genesis 6:3).

      Start by recognizing them, not as Christians denominations but as false religions… You know why? Because I wouldn't tell you to do the same with Roman Catholicism...
      It's because they don't believe in the Trinity, the hypostatic union (two natures of Christ), and they reject all decisions of the ancient church councils and spit on the writings of the fathers...
      That's what makes someone, or at least someone's denomination "Christian".

      Michael Steven You really want to go there? Okay, you asked for it..
      Acts 7:42-50 J.B. Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS)
      41-43 In those days they even made a calf, and offered sacrifices to their idol. They rejoiced in the work of their own hands. So God turned away from them and left them to worship the Host of Heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets, ‘Did you offer me slaughtered animals and sacrifices during forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel? Yes, you took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, images which you made to worship; and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.’
      Pay special attention here to "tabernacle of Moloch" and "the STAR of Remphan." This represents WORSHIP of a symbol. The Star of Remphan (an Egyptian god and idol) is the pentagram. Ask any scholar you like. Any scholar that attempts to refute this, is incompetent. Ask a witch. Ask a Luciferian. Ask a Satanist (especially within a circle, inverted or not). [1] Those that try to equate the Star of David, a six pointed star. with the Star of Remphan, five points, five in the Hebrew, the number representing death. They are mistaken. If they persist in their mistake, then they certainly pine to be among the incompetent.
      Do your own research genius. I have consulted with a former Satanist on this. That is the Church of Satan. Anton Lavey, standing with this individual, presenting him with his certificate of membership. Oh, this individual is no longer a Satanist, a witch, a high elder of the Temple of the LDS, a 90th degree Memphis Rite Freemason, an old Roman Church priest, an actual vampire. No, I'm not making up a single thing here. Verify all this for yourself. That is, if you can ..

    See, what I've also found is that supposedly a battle took place in New York a long time ago in the book of Mormon. Mormon was Moroni's father who was in the battle. Except here's the rub. No connections linguistically or through bloodline actually place the American Indian to Judaism. And if you want to place a small group of Indians to connect with the Jews then it's simply not what Moroni told Joseph Smith. So you have 3 options, Moroni didn't exist. Or he lied to Joseph Smith or Joseph Smith made a mistake in saying the Native Americans were descendants of Lamanites.

      Me, too. So much wisdom in so fat and happy a man. :-P
      Unfortunately, my friend, you're hamstringing yourself here. So the Talmud doesn't include Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel (who died in Babylon), or any of the other major prophets as prophets? Very perceptive of them.
      Besides, we have no obligation to follow the counsels of Jews - especially since the church was doing its own thing by the time the Talmud was composed (c 500 AD). Only 50 years before we were discussing the nature of Christ at the Council of Chalcedon.
      Actually, in point of fact, we were using a different version of Scriptures - the Greek LXX, not the Hebrew. Jesus quoted from that version, as did Paul and all the Apostles in their letters and exhortations. Nothing special. No different from quoting the KJV or the RSV or the NIV nowadays. The Jews went back to using the Hebrew, in protest against the Christian Church.
      Or, consider the parable of the wicked tenants, in Matthew's Gospel: www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+21%3A33-41&version=RSVCE
      Just as the Jews killed their own prophets - from Cain to Korah, from Saul to Jeroboam. So they went on to kill the Prophet of Prophets, the King of Kings, the Priest of Priests.

    Ok not sure if you are going to appreciate this or not, but I was a Mormon missionary in Minnesota and so there were tons of Lutherans there. After my mission I went to St. Thomas and obtained a degree. I could not understand Lutherans until I got a Catholic degree. Being a Mormon, I did not understand the context. So I moved back to Utah and took the small catechism from a Missouri synod Lutheran pastor. Here is the deal. Missouri synod Lutherans can be really smart and some of them really know their bibles, but to be honest God has chosen the Mormons. The spirit is obvious. At least for me. But hey thanks for these videos they really brought back memories and being smart is not a bad thing, but you need the spirit also. Peace be unto you.

      It is true that the "Catholic" church was established by Christ and has existed since the beginning… However the Roman church (as distinct from the Eastern churches, the Lutheran churches, Reformed Protestant churches, and all other trinitarian church-bodies) is a specific DENOMINATION that evolved over time.
      I like Roman Catholicism, but when you claim that you are the entire church and everybody who's outside of you is outside of the church… It's just a silly is when some non-denominationals say: "we are not a denomination" - when it's obvious that they're just some hodgepodge between Baptist, Methodist and Pentecostal.

    • @HolyKhaaaaan
      @HolyKhaaaaan 9 лет назад +1

      ***** Protestantism refers to any group of Christians that left the Catholic Church - first in the 1500s or so, and then later - under the assumption that the Catholic Church was in error, and it was their job to rebuild the Church of Christ. They agreed to the term as much as anyone. Indeed, to this day, the Episcopalian Church - the closest thing to a Catholic-like sect among you rebels - refers to themselves as the "_Protestant_ Episcopal Church" in their own literature.
      So, it's not irrelevant. It's history. You left because you think Rome's wrong - even though there's NO historical grounding for ANY variety of Protestantism as it existed then or exists today. Anything that IS grounded in history died off - proving itself NOT to be Christ's prevailing teaching - or is already found in Catholicism and Orthodoxy.

      ***** Only an idiot or an ignoramus brings up "atrocities done in the name of God" to disprove religions - in whole, or in particular.
      Adam disobeyed God, and wrought original sin for all of us. Should we all quit the human race because our forefather was a sinner? Should we quit the Abrahamic covenant because Abraham knew Hagar, and that was not God's plan? Should we quit the Faith because Judas, an apostle, betrayed Christ?
      Don't you dare, ever, as a means of attacking ANY church, the question of "atrocities". That's how atheists talk and think. And I'm sure we both agree they're idiots. _So be as wise as a serpent,_ lest you become one.

    • @HolyKhaaaaan
      @HolyKhaaaaan 9 лет назад +1

      No. You're just an idiot. That has nothing to do with your salvation. You might still be saved. But it won't be by the brain God gave you, which, being the gift of God, is an ordinary and salutary means of salvation (in conjunction, of course, with baptism and the other sacraments).
      Once again, if you're going to play the "these people hurt other Christians" card, you're playing a very easy to ignore move, considering Protestants - _of which you prove yourself to be one more and more every minute_ - also committed atrocities against Catholics. And, of course, Adam and Eve committed THE atrocity against God. So you may as well leave the human species if atrocities = flee this group like the plague.
      You seem to have a dogma, yourself, that dogma does not matter. I guess you never heard of the Seven Ecumenical Councils, or about closed communion, which occurred well into the 1900s, even between Protestants, even in America? Your distaste for dogma in general is a novelty, without basis. Calvin, Zwingli, Melancthon, and Luther, for whom you owe much credit, were also dogmatists, you know.

Cult is such a stupid term that Walter King fans have been shouting since the 1960s.

      They're more Christian than Scientologists. Mormonism, Islam, and JW are all more or less Christian heresies, and they all feature Arianism and/or Nestorianism in them.

    This significantly misrepresents the beliefs and teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a straw man argument (it puts words in the mouths of your opponent that they don't believe, but are easily refuted). I am sure you can find legitimate criticisms about my church. This is simply not one of them.

    The Church claims to be the True Church restored. Accordingly, John The Beloved does not have to convert to it. He has always been a member of it.

      stevenator0281 The question still stand then: if he is still an Apostle, why is he not one of your twelve apostles? And why hasn't he shown up yet to reclaim his spot in the restored church, if that is what it is?

    • @stevenator0281
      @stevenator0281 9 лет назад +2

      ChesterKhan Does he have to be? Paul wasn't one of the original Twelve and when he converted there were Twelve in office, but he is considered an Apostle. The Church also teaches that any Levite that converts to the Church will automatically become a High Priest. This is their right by birth. That said, I don't know of any who have shown up to receive this office. The fact is we don't know what John is doing or where he is. Whatever the case, I am sure it is important.

    • @HolyKhaaaaan

      stevenator0281 None of this addresses the fact that, if St. John never died, and is still alive, and has been alive ever since he first became an Apostle...
      He has never ceded the seat.
      Also, by your logic, Matthias, therefore, was not an Apostle, even though they chose him to succeed Judas, since there must be Twelve, not thirteen.

    • @stevenator0281
      @stevenator0281 9 лет назад +1

      ChesterKhan Nothing says he has to cede his seat. He can remain an Apostle, as did Matthias. You are either deliberately misunderstanding or just trolling. Either way, we're done.

      Peter James and John gave the Apostleship to Joseph Smith. They were resurrected or never died in John's case (John 21) It is not important to have exactly 12 Apostles. It is a reference that Jesus had 12. Honestly, I can not believe the ignorance of people.

    May I add my two cents (yes, I'm a Mormon). John stopped preaching for a reason... Because his fellow apostles were brutally KILLED and he was BANISHED and EXILED. If I knew nobody would listen to me, I would probably have stopped showing my face. But he did come back and, along with Peter and James from the New Testament, restored the Holy Melchizedek Priesthood to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdry. I promise this is true. I don't look for a fight, just trying to clear things up. Funny video though! Haha!

      Sorry Isaac I'd just like some (a lot) of clarification here...are you unaware of the ridiculously huge differences between Mormonism and Christianity?

    • @isaacblackburn5652
      @isaacblackburn5652 9 лет назад +1

      Yes, I am unaware of the differences. Will you please tell me those differences because I was under the impression that I (along with the rest of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) believed in God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost just as much as any other christian religion. I (and the church) believe in the Bible just as much as anyone else does. In fact, I have been rereading the stories of Christ found in the the first four books of the New Testament. I love reading about his miracles. I love picturing myself being there when he taught his disciples. And I especially love the parts where He suffered in Gethsemane, along with the beatings he took before Calvary, and ending with his death on the Cross for me as well as the rest of the world so that we may be forgiven of our sins as long as we repent and are baptized by proper authority of God and follow His commandments. I love the part of His Resurrection, so that one day, all mankind may be brought back to life, even immortality, so that we may be judged and awarded for our works on earth. So then, can you tell me all the differences between the "Mormon" Church and the rest of Christianity because I understood that other Christians believed this as well.

      ***** Joseph Smith never tried to over ride the word of God! He praised God the Father as the Father of our souls, and ruler over all. He praised Jesus the Christ as our Savior and Redeemer! Ancient Prophets did appear to him so that he would know how to bring back the fulness of the Gospel given by Christ and all of the ancient prophets. I give my testimony to you that Joseph Smith did see God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. They appeared to him to tell him that he was needed to restore the Gospel so that all of us would more fully understand God, and so that we may more clearly have His commandments. He was the tool in restoring the Holy Priesthood of God. We in the church praise Joseph as the first prophet in this time period, but we even more praise Jesus Christ, for He was and is and forever will be our Savior and Redeemer. I am thankful for this knowledge, because it brings me true happiness and joy. I ask you, as a friend rather than an enemy, to read the Book of Mormon, and pray to Heavenly Father and ask Him if it is true. I promise you He will reveal it to you. I promise you that. He has done the same for me. The book of Mormon, along with the Bible, will bring you closer to your Heavenly Father and your Savior, Jesus Christ.

      Isaac Blackburn First off, from the admittedly few sources I've heard from, atheist and Christian both say the BoM is inconsistent with the Christian gospel and extent of the scriptures.
      I have a few other questions. How did God appear to Joseph? What was his reaction in the 'vision'? I have heard from many mormons personally that they all do not believe in the sufficiency of the atoning death of Jesus Christ, that only _most_ of the sins people commit (the 'little' sins, even though all are sins, no one sin is worse than another to God) are atoned by Jesus' death, and that people must offer up a blood sacrifice (themselves) in order to make atonement (this is completely unbiblical in every imaginable aspect); I'd just like some clarifications on those. Also why did the 'holy priesthood of God' need to be restored? Why was it sooo long that people were living 'without the truth' and how could anybody have been saved in this period if it was such an obvious fault in the religious traditions that God had to send _himself and Jesus through a vision_ to a man who had an *extremely* questionable past (I can elaborate more on his questionable past if you'd like) in order to restore the 'truth'? Also, what made Joseph Smith worthy of having a direct encounter with God and Jesus Christ? Sorry I asked so much, I'm just highly questioning of the Mormon perspective and it's implications.
