    Super helpful advice even for experienced sellers. Find what works!
    Every shop is different but in my case I get more views and sales,
    1) The more active I am in my shop (no “set it and forget it”)
    2) I get increased traffic from ads-but I run them ONLY when I can afford them
    3) The larger variety of items I have in stock, the more I sell, but I sell supplies so mileage may vary for other types of shops.

    great channel.
    And yes, sometimes it's the product. And not so much that your product (handmade and good quality) isn't wanted, but that there are far too many shops out there reselling cheap knock-offs and fake products for a few $ or even cents.
    Even worse when it's a digital product, because then the undercutters can go on forever without being ruined financially.
    Imo, Etsy is not the place to go to sell high quality products and make a living. People just won't buy from you regularly enough.

    • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  11 месяцев назад +1

      I disagree to a certain extent since i make a full time living with physical products on Etsy, with plenty of repeat customers. But you’re right that digital is tough and that Etsy has become swamped with crap and undercutters, especially in the past couple of years.

    HI Kara - Thanks for the video! if you run facebook ads where does that get categorized? Social Media and then Facebook? Also what is etsy app and other etsy pages and how is that different than direct and other traffic?

    • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  2 года назад

      If you're running your own ads, then that would be in direct traffic or social media, I'm not sure where they put that. Etsy app includes app traffic, which can be search or suggested or whatever, so it's kind of a junk category. Direct traffic would be links that go directly to your shop from blogs, emails, or other non-social media sources. It's very mixed up.

    Kara, you mentioned having 3 shops. I'm considering opening a second one. Do I need to file a new fictitious biz name, run the notices, separate tax filings etc.? Or, is it enough that both stores are on Etsy under my same name, SS#, so I can just open the second "location" with Etsy and call it done. Thanks so much for your informative videos.

    • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  Год назад +1

      It doesn't matter for Etsy, but you might have to file DBAs with your state or local government. I have to file a DBA for every name that I'm doing business under because of state laws, but they're all under the umbrella of my LLC. You can use the same bank account and SS# for each Etsy shop, though.

    Hi Kara, thanks for this video! A question: Could it also have something to do with the fact that you're not in the US or UK or Australia, and not shipping to those countries? I'm in Belgium, and shipping to the EU only. Etsy simply isn't a thing here, really. And I know of some German shops struggling, too. Not shipping to the UK or the US. Listings viewed 316 times. Etsy bought 48% of visitors . Social media says 45 which appears to be 14% of traffic Twitter being my main source of visits (42) 2 visits from Facebook but I only just created it and have been banned for 2 days for liking a post….. I’ve never understood Facebook….. it’s just so difficult for me to workout. But I tried joining Etsy community groups there and liked one of their posts, then BAM! blocked for 2 days for not obeying rules I didn’t see 🧐

      hi! when it comes to facebook (specially newer accounts let's say 3-5yrs), they tend to ban/not allow to engage/block movement on newer accounts that have so many movement within a short period of time. i have multiple accounts on facebook (personal and non-personal) and one of those is a newer 2022 account and that specific account gets banned or stopped or blocked most of the time and when it comes back to normal i would only do few movements separated in different hours in a day cause if not it gets re-banned/re-blocked again. maybe that's what's happening to your account.
      maybe try limiting your movement on facebook and allocating those for the most important posts only per day so you can avoid being restricted on your movements by facebook itself. it's really a pain whenever facebook blocks/bans an account.

    • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  Год назад +2

      It’s not Etsy, there are federal and state consumer laws that prohibit saying that something is on sale if you don’t offer it at a “regular” price for specific time periods. The laws are different everywhere, each state has its own guidelines and there are federal regulations too. Some countries in Europe have laws that are a lot stricter about it, too.

    So, I did a sale as Etsy requested for last month. I got a few sales but not as much as I’d like. Then when the sale was done I received more sales than I did with the sale. Now crickets again. • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  2 года назад

      Have you also looked at your traffic and everything else/ it could also be that you're in an extremely competitive category and there's not enough demand for the supply. So it could be that there's too much supply for the demand, or that the demand is so low any supply is too much.

    • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  2 года назад +1

      As long as they're really buying something and you're not refunding them or anything, then it's a real sale, and it's fine. You can't create accounts to buy from yourself, that will get your shop shut down.

    What would you recommend for shipping options? I’m in Canada and I tried doing a flat fee of $13, but it’s not feasible and I lost money. Prices vary from $13 to even $25- depending which province I ship to…
    If I choose the option where customers pay their own shipping based on location, I feel like it will turn lots of people away?

    • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  2 года назад +1

      I know it’s expensive in Canada so it gets tricky. I would either add it in to the price t add the higher amount, or have it based on the location. If the price is going to be too high with the higher amount added in, then a location-based system will be better for you. It’s better to have people who live farther away not buy from you than it is to lose money.

      It’s not illegal on Etsy, it’s illegal illegal, like federal trade commission illegal. There are laws about how long you have to have things at a regular price before you can put them on a discount, and it varies by location. You can’t put your whole shop on a discount that’s always there.

      @@kelli8923 They only do that through filters if they're having a sale. On a normal day they don't give any more visibility to a markdown, but if customers search with sale filters they'll see your shop. Regardless, it's not legal as a business to run a sale all the time, that would mean that your listings are never really at a sale price, it's just trying to deceive customers.

    • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  2 года назад +1

      @@eternity6615 I'll do another video about it, but there are basically consumer protection laws that say you have to have things at the "regular" price for a specific amount of time before you can offer it o sale. And there are limits to how long the sales can run before you have to put it back to the regular price. A lot of digital sellers just do 10% off on their entire shops all the time, but that means that those things aren't really on sale, they're never really marked down because the "regular" price is the sale price. Each state and country has laws about the guidelines for sales. If you're changing the thing that's on sale all the time and you have the thing that's marked down at the regular price more than it is on sale, that's probably fine, but you'd have to check with the laws in your state or country.

There are going to be costs associated with that, though, because you usually have to have a tent and a setup and inventory. Patience is key because jewelry is super competitive, Pinterest takes a long time to get decent traffic (and you have to do it the right way) and Etsy is the same way, especially with any kind of jewelry.

      @@TheRimjhim6 I'm not doing that anymore, but you can get a shop review from Mary Avelis, who's in my EShop program. Her link is here, I endorse her services! lilfoxdesigns.com/collections/digital-services

    I post the pins on Pinterest and have some views & clicks but no one go to the Etsy... I don't understand why? All say that Pinterest number 1 for advertising Etsy shop

    • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  Год назад +3

      You have to do it the right way, and Pinterest takes a long time to get your pins into any type of circulation. Like 6-8 months.

    I'm new to Etsy. How do I access my Stats?

    • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  2 года назад

      There's a stats dashboard on the desktop and the app (It's easier to use on desktop.) It's in your shop dashboard. You can also click on the gear icon on individual listings int he listing manager to see the stats for that. And if you want to see all shop stats for keywords, you can look on the shop dashboard and click on "etsy search" and it will open up more windows with keyword info. There are a bunch of versions of stats, you have to poke around in there to find all of them.

    My set is 0 !! how to fix that? no traffic from SEO !!

    • @KaraBuntin
      @KaraBuntin  2 года назад +2

      You either need to look at your SEO to edit it, or send more traffic yourself. Or both, it's usually not a single issue.

    i have all my traffic from tiktok and no sales

    • @KaraBuntin

      I know that people get traffic from tiktok, but I’d be careful devoting a lot of time to platforms that are based on entertainment more than anything else. The people who I’ve seen who are selling from that kind of traffic are usually selling things like stickers and other lower cost items, so it might depend on what you’re selling, but my guess would be that most people are going to tiktok to waste time and be entertained, not for shopping purposes.

    ETSY MAKES BUYING FROM THEM extraordinarily difficult. They reject passwords constantly. All about is stressful. Many sales are lost when I try & buy and every step is rejected. You are only way to try and figure out anything. Hostility is what I feel when I disappointedly discover Etsy is only place to buy something I need. To contact ETSY is nightmare. Greedy companies are emblematic with life in US. Etsy was small, they got big and turned into AH’s. Yes Pinterest is way better.

    Are you talking about views or single visits? Because 200 visits is decent if not good for new shops.

    • @KaraBuntin

      In this case it was visits, but this isn’t a new shop!

      I would check the Keywords that Etsy is showing your listings for to see if they're accurate! You can also set up the favorites coupon and the abandoned cart coupon to get people back.
