Thinking before acting- Or at least not making decisions until your subconscious handles it.

- When you need to make a decision, sometimes it's a good idea to think about it, then not think about it. You'll still be processing things but it will give you time to figure it out without making snap decisions.

This channel is for home-based creative businesses and anyone who sells products online and specifically on Etsy. I do Etsy tutorials and share Etsy tips to help small business owners get their businesses to where they want them to be. Oh, I hope you don't drop RUclips. 😢 You are one of the only genuine, common sense channels on RUclips (on any topic).
I appreciate that!
Your doing a wonderful service for shop owners so I hope you don't decide to stop. You shouldn't compare yourself with those other UTube channels, your definitely not the same. People need real and that's what you are.
I'm definitiely NOT the same as most of them...I stopped watching any etsy videos a long time ago because they're so trashy for the most part.
This year, I’ve said to my husband, “I’m tired of it all,” more times than I can count. So, I can relate.
I watch other topics on RUclips and I’m surprised by the popularity of salaciousness and conspiracy theories out there. That’s why I’m very thankful for your RUclips channels! I’ve learned so much from you and I hope you continue to make videos.
I will...I'm taking a break fom the tutorials channel for a while until I have something to say that's different or needs to be covered. There's definitely a lot of clickbait and exaggeration about selling online on youtube and I think that's part of why I'm tired of it. I don't watch the videos but I see the thumbnails when I come to youtube and even that's too much.
Please don't shed the you tube! We need your wisdom!
I'll be on this channel, not too sure about how much I'll post on the tutorials one for the foreseeable future.
Everyone is going to be transitioning in their own way this year, especially since April. You could say it's in the Stars!
Is it? That would be interesting.
@KaraBuntin juliePoole on RUclips and I just happened upon an interesting astrologer, Ascending Souls Journey. But I've been following Julie Poole about 4 yrs now? Very good!
OMG don't go away, Kara~! LOL! I will cry! I have followed your tips for two years now, and you have never led us wrong with business information and you are direct and not a waste of time in RUclips Land! So yes, let it percolate but STAY! LOLOL!
I'm not leaving this channel, but I might pull back on the Etsy content on my tutorials channel and do more general stuff.
@@KaraBuntin awesome! Whatever you teach, I am willing to learn!
I totally understand about being worn out. I am very tired too. Apart from family stuff being exhausting, Etsy has poked its finger in my eye once too often. So I am trying new things - I am experimenting with my art, I have started writing and am contemplating shutting my web site down. I don't think selling online is doing me any good now and change is definitely necessary.
Sometimes you need to move things around.
I hear you. I don’t know if it’s the summer season or just been at it too long but I’m feeling fizzled out - not on the creative end but on the marketplace/etsy end
Your channels are the only “common sense” ones that I watch regularly so would hate to see you leave you tube but totally understand!! Maybe just a vacation would help? We just took a long weekend away and it was just what I needed to clear the junk from my head and refocus.
I do need a vacation. The problem with that on RUclips is that the algorithm doesn't know what to do when you stop posting for a while so it can mess you up.
I was really tired for the last few years but I am starting to perk up again. I did cut out selling candles and just teach candle making instead
Everyone needs to learn to ride the wave. When the wave comes in, ride it like crazy - expand, invent, direct. When the wave recedes, rest, reflect, go inward until the next wave comes - and they always come. There is an ebb and flow to everything; learn to work with the changes - the waves - not fight against them.
yep
I loved this video. It's a great reminder. I'm feeling a burnt out which is unusual for me. So I related to this. And it sure does seem some sort of change is needed every 5 years or so. I love my work and my Etsy shop. But I'm not loven Etsy at the moment. I am hoping their expected bigger changes happen soon so I can make more knowledgeable decisions. Change is always hard. Hopefully it can lead to some better things.
I agree with the 5-year thing...For me it's probably a little longer, but there definitely comes a point where I feel like I've been doing something long enough and it's time to move on.
I feel you. I’m tired too.
I’m actually reading a book today instead of working, i think we all need a break from the constant nonsense.
@@KaraBuntin I’m preparing to go to Paris, France Tuesday. I’m not taking my computer. I’ve vacationed my shops, I need a break! I’ve been looking for your channel membership I’m not sure how to find it?
Ooh have fun! The membership should be under each video, it’s just the “join” button.
It might only be on desktop, i don’t see it on the app.
I also really appreciate your wisdom. I am also enjoying the work sessions, as they kind of keep my brain squirrels in check.
Glad you like them!
I hear you. Closed one of my platforms last week.
I would say that's too bad, but it might not be if it makes your life easier.
I've been going through a period of indecisiveness. Can't seem to focus. So I get kind of what you are going through. And the whole I'm over Etsy thing, yeah definitely get that. Said that to myself this morning in fact.
I think it's a common saying these days.
I recently retired and was excited about spending more time building my Etsy shop. I had a slow start selling items but now the shop has completely flatlined. My daughter helps me with PR and has advertised my shop on FB, Pinterest, TikTok, and Instagram. Nothing, there is nothing happening. I have learned so many things from watching your RUclips show and very appreciate all of the things you have taught me, thank you! Do you have or, would you be interested in teaching a very basic, “How to start your own Website” class? I am not a “techy” person and sometimes do not understand some of the words or phrases you use. But, I love to learn. Searching “How to create a website” is toooooo confusing. Is there a cost involved? Are there websites that are more user friendly than others? Or, websites to stay away from? Etc. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and spending the time to read this novelette 😂
I have a monthly membership where we talk about website stuff. That would fit into that bucket, so if you want to join to ask questions it might help. classes-by-a-cake-to-remember-llc.teachable.com/p/seo-club-for-websites
@@KaraBuntin Thank you for the information. I will certainly look into it.
I am still recovering from my stroke so I have not done any work for about 5 months and I really dont know if I will reopen my etsy shops. I am just starting to watch a few videos to catch up on what's been happening on etsy or how social media is changing for business.
Kara, I would miss you if you stopped RUclips 😢 Tammy, Cape Cod, MA
Don’t leave RUclips! You’re a guide to many & keep me up to date on the Etsy changes.
Also I have seen some channels that record themselves working with some nice music & you can still feel like you’re coworking with the person & listen to their music. Plus they the RUclips person gets watch time hours. 🤔 just a thought if you wanna throw in some working vlogs. Probably not your thing but it’s an idea.
I thught of doing a co-working group for youtube but I don't want to have to commit to a time every week.
I myself am currently on hold as regards Etsy decisions. Why? The Annual General Meeting is this week, and one of the topics being floated for the agenda is the question of whether CEO pay is still commensurate with site performance. In the article I read about this, the author compared the CEO pay of similar sized companies with Josh's and his pay is way out of line with what those other CEOs are making in relation to their sites' profits.
If this happens his pay could be cut, or he could be terminated. If his pay is cut, he might even leave on his own.
So I will wait and see if anything shakes out there before deciding anything Etsy.
Ooh, that's true. But I read an analysis that his salary wasn't out of lnie, so it soudned like he was staying. We'll find out what happens when and if it happens.
Aww, don't cut off RUclips ! :(!!!!
I'll drag it out as long as I can!
Etsy is soul sucking. Doing everything I can to pivot, re-invent how I run my business.
That's a good way to describe it these days.
I believe, strongly, that if you’re trying to solve a problem or work through a creative idea, you need to get the heck out of your own way. Don’t scramble and claw through your thoughts for an idea or a plan… that’s like scrambling through the junk boxes at a car boot sale of stuff that no one has bothered organising onto shelves looking for the right doofer to fit your issue. It’s pointless. Just trust the brain. Let it tell you, stop trying to make it tell you. Get out of its way.
My old boss used to comment on how weird it was that he would bounce a problem at me, I’d think it through and wind up at “I don’t know”. And often within a BEAT of letting go of it and stopping trying to squeeze an answer out of my brain, I would suddenly know. Like, Bam… there’s the solution. Like it just landed in from nowhere. So he got used to waiting for the “I dunno..” and the “oh… wait…” that would invariably follow. And it’s not that I gave up figuring it out too soon… it’s the ‘giving up figuring it out’ that moves you out of your own way and creates the space for your subconscious (the clever bit) to just do what it’s meant to.
And even more so with creative stuff…
Absolutely. Letting it sit also keeps you from doing the first thing that you think you should do, which is usually wrong.
Oh wow. I'd totally miss your logic, wisdom, and sarcasm. A wise person told me "Don't make any decisions. Just let it sit."
That's what I'm doing, while I'm working on a few things behind the scenes.
I have closed two websites and two Etsy shops. It was scary.
But did you feel better after doing it?
Many people work harder in "retirement". I live with one. He is attempting a "Swedish Death Cleaning". Problem? He's throwing out my stuff.
🤬
Oh hell no! Although I'll say that I'm a lot better at throwing out other people's stuff than my own.
We're all so exhausted of Etsy... But they won't listen. It's nonsense.
it is, but I don't see it getting better any time soon.
