I think bringing back the Need for Speed Shift brand would be good especially for people who don't have a PlayStation who can't play Gran Turismo

I remember grinding this game till the the Bugatti to then realize it was undriveble and I kept crashing, absolutely amazing memories😢

The one problem I had with this game was the unusual oversteer and WEAK steering on stock cars (without tuning). Sure a car doesnt stick to the road like a magnet but at least it doesn’t slide like butter lol

The sense of speed and cockpit view is what made this game so good in my opinion. 💯 hella underrated
Sound effects and engine sounds too, way better than any forza game. Even underground 1& 2 have amazing engine sounds.

I loved this game and I love the small objectives they gave you with stars and especially perfecting corners. I’m pretty sure I had every corner mastered on every track when I olayed
Need For Speed Shift | Slightly Mad Studios physics is based on "gMotor", (not ProStreet's physics) which dates back to EA F1 99-02|Challenge series, GTR, Race 07, rFactor, ... . GTR 1.0 was originally too difficult (due to excessive oversteer, to the point it was unrealistic), this was toned down in GTR 2.0, and again with Race 07 | GTR Evolution, and then again with Shift. There are 1 to 3 dominant cars for each tier, but for offline play, the dominant cars aren't needed to win events. Shift online play didn't use the tier system, but a rating system instead, 4.0, 6.0, 10.0, 14.0, unlimited. This changed the choice and setup of cars to use for online racing. Shift 1 versus Shift 2: Shift 1 drifting favors analog controllers (joystick or wheel), Shift 2 favors game pads (it will auto-steer for the player). Shift 1 has a bounce bug on ovals and Ambush Canyon, Shift 2 fixed the bounce bug. In Shift 2, the two fastest cars, Apollo and LP640, are affected by a flaw in the physics: at high speeds, the downforce shoves the body into pavement, resulting in a sudden and unpredictable high speed oversteer that can't be fixed with tuning, but there are only a few tracks that this affects. Shift 1 has a similar flaw, which affects the GTR at high speed, but without causing the oversteer bug (you hear the body scrape, but it doesn't affect the handling). Shift 2 - with all DLC enabled (no longer possible due to server shutdown, so requires a mod), there's no sense of a career mode, since multiple event types unlock at the same time during offline play, and there is no fixed order for the events. Shift 2 online play disabled all in game chat, so without being able to communicate (unless audio based communication was used), other players just seemed like bots, and the online play was never popular.
I went back to NFS Shift on my PS3 after a couple years of it being in the back of my memory and I most of the cars that I love today were the cars I had in my garage that I’d completely forgotten about, the Hakosuka Nissan skyline was my favourite ever and it still is lol. I’ll definitely continue the game now.
Well I'm definitely VERY late to the game on this one (no pun intended). Dusted off my Xbox 360 and just picked up a copy of NFS Shift for $5 at a local used game shop. Been curious about it since it's got my favorite track, which is Road America. In a million years, I NEVER thought I'd see it in a Need For Speed game.
Blown away. The career mode is super addictive. Raking in cash is also quite easy. Just doing the Time Attacks is the easiest way to get quick money and upgrade and buy new cars. I love that when you buy ANY car, you can change the livery so it at least looks like a race car, and not just a plain boring vehicle. And the graphics are very good! Everything just looks beautiful. And as I expected, Road America looks absolutely gorgeous. Every hill and curve is perfect. And even a ton of the scenery around the track is spot on. I'm from Wisconsin and have been to many races at Road America, and am truly impressed by the attention to detail in this game. I'm not on Xbox Live and don't do online gaming of any kind, but who cares? I don't need it and this game offers me all I could want in one package. Anyway, just wanted to show some love for this epic racing game.
A little sad this game got delisted from Steam a couple months back.

Started playing this game on the xbox 360 last year, but this year I bought the wireless racing wheel and some games.
Currently I'm playing this game with the wheel and I have to say that it's really awesome with it. Even after 14 years I still recommend it

I remember this game was one of the first with first person view and shit just blew my mind
Imo, the game could've been improved if the stars required to unlock NFS Live World Tour (final tier) is at around 500-600 stars, therefore, the game makes you have to complete most of the competitions in all tiers (well, I'm usually a 100% completionist).
And also, those exclusive liveries by the main rivals should've been allowed to us. I mean, they look cool and all, but we can never use them.

I would love a new nfs shift although its highly unlikely due to ea getting rid of online play for both nfs shift and shift 2, the saddest part is you cant legally get shift anymore you have to get a cracked version since the game has been removed from online stores
I feel like how well Hot Pursuit was ported to the Switch, they should do it again with this game in my opinion.

Slightly mad studios started making the Project Cars games after the NFS shift games but if there was a NFS Shift 3, it better have the EA sports label (Since it's Motorsports and motorsports is, well... Sports).

Bro, what is the deal with your copy of prostreet? You mentioned you have it on Origin, but for some reason it won't play. I own a physical disk copy, but it pretty much refuses to launch on both my Alienware and on my desktop.
I had to download a no DVD executable, and fix the dll file so that I wouldn't encounter the notorious 'continue' button bug.
Yeah I had to do the same thing but I still come across game breaking bugs that won't allow me to play. So I got a copy for PS3

I found this game on a shelf yesterday when my parents were cleaning out our old rec room. Completely forgot about it, and have no memory of ever playing it.. obviously I found this game pretty forgettable..
