    I hear Dragon Ball is more popular in America than Japan. All their focus is on One Piece. Chapter every week, One Piece Live Action, One Piece Remake. I hear Shueisha don't to give Manga content to Toei. And don't forget the Toei Corporation situation

    I agree with some points and disagree with others.
    For 1. GT is not the reason Dragon Ball stopped in the 90s. The true reason was that Toriyama finished his story, and Toei wanted to continue for a bit longer. It wasn't going to last forever. GT was already on borrowed time from the jump.
    2. Some points you made are just wanting the Moro Saga and UE Vegeta. Which is fine, but Toei is not obligated to do that. They can go in a different direction.
    3. I agree that the marketing for things lately have been trash. Super Hero & especially Daima had or have terrible marketing.
    4. Speaking of Daima, it has next to 0 marketing for it, and it comes out this year, and it was announced 6 months ago. It's the next big Dragon Ball anime, and we still know barely anything about it. That would feel like sabotage to me. But we'll see how things turn out.
    It's Dragon Ball at the end of the day. Even with its poor promotion, I'm sure Daima will do well.

    Personally, I've never understood the people who want Super's manga arcs to be adapted as soon as possible. Dragon Ball's anime didn't even begin until around the time Goku arrived at Muscle Tower in the manga, which was during the 3rd major arc. Even then, they only began adapting it so soon because Toriyama intended Dragon Ball to end much earlier than it did. Beginning adapting the story too soon is how we got the excessive filler the Z portion is famous for. We've only had two major arcs since then, Moro and Granolah, not including the manga adaptation of Super Hero. Moro and Granolah are both very focused arcs without narrative gaps in which to insert natural feeling filler, with the exception of Goku and Vegeta's training to beat Moro, and the obvious tactic of extending the fight scenes. Personally, I would prefer to wait for Super to conclude so that the story can be as well paced as possible. If people want new story ASAP they should read the manga. You can complain about how they've handled that, the Super Hero adaptation was unnecessary and Black Freeza has been dragged out, but that's a separate discussion.
    As for Daima not having much promotion? I gotta ask, why would it need it? Dragon Ball has one of the most dedicated fan bases of any franchise, so why waste money on advertising when it'll be successful via 1-2 trailers and word of mouth? Daima has an absolutely stacked staff filled with the best of the best in modern anime, as well as the best from the days of OG Dragon Ball and Z. And unlike Super's anime, Daima has had years of preproduction, and plenty of time for the people working behind the scenes to turn in the best work possible. If Toei were trying to sabotage Dragon Ball, they'd do what they did at the beginning of Super's anime run; rush the production of episodes so much that some were unfinished at the time of release, and putting new staff members without much experience on the project.

    I see your points but I would say that Super is still being supported because the main reasons for the anime not coming back is more on Shieusha and Fuji Tv because they want the show to run for a while but they don't see tge current arcs lasting for as long as they want so they are waiting for Toyotaro to put out new arcs in order to make it longer, Daima only as a few similarities to GT while also having different villains and the best animators working on it but I will say that marketing could be better for it though, Sparking Zero is likely going to have to cut some original dragon ball and GT characters in order to put Super characters in it which shows where there focus is.

    • @leosnyder5264

      They're fools because that's what they are they really do not you do not cut dragon Ball and shity that was should it be in the base game just so you can put them on DLC that will piss many fans off and kill the sparking game that is unacceptable and there's no reason to. This will be unacceptable if they start doing this oh we're only going to focus on super crap and cut the main popular characters and put them in DLC so we can have a 17 DLC packs and it's still not acceptable because this game is worked on 5 yeats it should have GT they also falsely would be charged with false advertising sexual super Saiyan 4 in a previous game you don't do that if this is supposed to be a sequel

      @@leosnyder5264 It is true that the game has been worked on for 5 years but they also had to build each character from the ground up due to working on a new engine with new animations, refining the visual style, putting in new mechanics, possibly new modes, and more detailed destruction which takes up a large amount of production time and it is more of a surprise that they are able to put over 100 characters in the game at launch with possibly every character looking as detailed as the ones we have seen; I would like to have every character there too but that isn't false advertisement due to them still promising a large roster but somethings being cut for time which is a common practice even in the old Tenkaichi games where the added characters in through the next game but dlc is a more convenient way to build the roster up without delaying the game and keeping people playing with more characters, stages, story, and modes that they couldn't add in the base game.

    I can’t speak for Toriyama or anyone at Toei but it seems like ever since after BoG and RoF right even DBS anime started, it felt like there was no actual genuine passion for Dragon Ball. It didn’t feel like Toriyama really wanted to come back and do another anime/manga series, and it showed when he decided to be hands off and not work with Toyotaro or Toei directly and give some drafts here and there. Unlike say…Bleach to make a comparison, where Kubo is heavily involved in the anime’s writing process to the point where the anime is pretty much taking over as the de facto passion project for what Kubo’s image of his series is
    Since the DBS anime ended, it’s felt like there was no incentive to bring it back, and I just feel like the people at the top, whether it be Toriyama or Toei or both, just didn’t care to do so. The manga was doing its thing though for a while I remember people ain’t dealt like it until Moro, then reception kinda went back down during the Granolah arc etc
    Fans will always like DB whether it’s good bad or in between. A lot of people like Super, I like GT, some people like Heroes, everyone likes DB and Z, but I feel like the lack of passion from the top is what’s leading to nothing really moving with the franchise

    You should watch Casual Anime Guy Explains' vid called "the pathetic state of dragon ball super".
    He basically concludes from Toei's perspective, there is no point making a super anime because dragonball already makes them enough money through merchandise and games. The anime of super actually promoted the manga unlike DBZ or almost any other shonen manga. So to Toei in a business sense it would be a waste.

    I heard that essentially, investors were putting pressure on Shueisha because they didn't understand why DB spiked so hard in terms of revenue while One Piece didn't receive a proportional spike despite being the top earner for so long so they concluded that Shueisha was mishandling One Piece and Shueisha reacted to that pressure by essentially hamstringing DB

    There's nothing wrong with Daima it's just the wrong time for it, it's been 5 to 6 years of no DBS and lackluster content in the manga and the DBS anime return would've been way more hype and bring more life, anticipation, and fans into the series more so than Daima, something literally nobody was asking for before it was announced, there's nothing wrong with pleasing or making your fans happy because without the fans it wouldn't be what it is today and that goes for everything, anything that disregard the fans will eventually die. The longer DBS takes the less people will care especially compared to the animes out today and to come nothing lasts forever.

    In my opinion, it’s just the fact that some of the voice actors are getting old especially in Japan. Remember these voices have been around since the 80s we lost Frieza, Bulma and Toriyama and that’s just Japan, America lost its Frieza, Broly (For stupid reasons) and Bryce Armstrong who had characters all across the series. I know the Spanish dub just lost its Roshi. I think Daima is a last hoorah, and in The future we might see newer cast members. The last thing I’d want is to see Goku Master Mastered Ultra instinct against Moro and die, or god forbid she passes away during something Mid like… then passed out on Namek.

      @davidburton4836 4 месяца назад +1

      Dragon Ball's been corporate for longer than that, that's how franchises work. As long as they continue to generate money, they'll continue on. This doesn't necessarily make the stories inherently worse. There has to be some level of quality assurance, otherwise even the most dedicated of fans will get tired and move on. Calling something "corporate" as an inherent negative is a lazy copout for people who either wear nostalgia goggles for the material they grew up with, or who can't articulate an actual reason as to why they don't like the newer material, with no legitimate reason to offer.

    • @spritvio639
      @spritvio639 4 месяца назад +1

      @davidburton4836 You're right, I probably shouldn't have been so vague in my original comment. What I mean by Dragon Ball being more corporate since Broly is how safe the stories we have gotten feel.
      Battle of Gods established a clear new direction for the franchise to move in like the Gods and other universes, but all of that has been mostly abandoned now. We don't see the other universes. The other gods are nowhere to be seen at all. It feels like we have gone back from everything we were doing before to instead stay in the familiar of our universe. It's like everything we did before never happened aside from UI.
      On top of that, there has been heavy nostalgia pandering since the Broly movie. We've had Frieza, Cell, the Red Ribbon Army, Broly, Bardock, and even things like Beast Gohan. It doesn't feel like we are progressing, just recycling old things from the past. Do we really need to see Frieza repeat his same revenge arc for the 3rd time this late into Super's life? I like him as much as the next guy but the fact that he is what everyone is looking forward to especially over what Super is supposed to be doing like exploring the other universes, isn't a good look.
      Those are just a couple of reasons. I could bring up more like the clear character regressions with characters like Goku and Vegeta repeating the same lessons.

    • @davidburton4836
      @davidburton4836 4 месяца назад +1

      @@spritvio639 I can understand your perspective on this a bit better now, thank you. I must say that there are parts of what you say that I agree with and parts I don't.
      I fully agree that the other universes and their supporting characters have so far been wasted. At the very least, Vegeta needs to visit planet Sadala and commiserate with the native Saiyans.
      Some of the stories have definitely felt like nostalgia pandering, in my opinion Super Hero is the worst offender, what with it essentially being a truncated Cell Saga with extra steps. Even then, I still find a lot to like about it; the introduction of Pan as an actual character and not solely as a prop to motivate Gohan, both Gohan and Piccolo getting new forms so that they can regain their lost relevance, and Broly being introduced as a main character on the side of good, to name a few examples.
      I never really considered the nostalgia pandering with Super Broly to be particularly egregious, with it being a fun reinterpretation of the classic story allowed to slide into canon. I know some people think characters like him, Gohan and Piccolo getting so much stronger "break power scaling" but I've never cared about powerscaling to begin with, so if I'm told a character is stronger and it's shown off with feats, that's all I care about. Some people say it runs counter to the core theme of hard work throughout Dragon Ball, to which I'd counter that another theme is that there's always someone better than you waiting just around the corner, so the idea that people like Broly, Gohan, the Universe 6 Saiyans, etc. are just naturally stronger than Goku and Vegeta never bothered me.
      I love the idea of Freeza as a reccuring antagonist, both because it's rare for Dragon Ball, and because he works as a great foil for our two leads. For Vegeta, he acts as a constant living reminder of the sins of his past, a metaphorical manifestation of the evil that once lay in Vegeta's heart, and the guilt it causes him, guilt he'll have to overcome if he truly wishes to be the best. For Goku, Freeza represents someone that can't be reasoned with, or turned to his way of thinking, but unlike Cell or Boo, he wasn't created to destroy, he was born evil and thrives on it. He takes Goku's mercy and throws it in his face, showing him time and again he can't be redeemed, yet Goku can never bring himself to kill him permanently not out of a sense of morality, but because of his own lust for combat. Freeza shows Goku that sometimes not only is mercy wrong, it's outright selfish on Goku's part to continue sparing this monster despite the people he continues to hurt.
      I also like that Freeza has slowly learned how to beat the Saiyans, taking what they've known for years and applying it to himself. His newfound willingness to train is how he unlocked Black Freeza, after all.
      I don't mind them revisiting Bardock, or Goku needing to relearn how to reconcile his violent Saiyan heritage with his peaceful Earth upbringing, especially since it's tied in with him attaining a new level of Ultra Instinct. As soon as he refound inner peace, his true power could be unlocked.
      I don't really see character regression from Goku or Vegeta in Super. I don't inherently see Goku's seemingly backslide into the behavior he had as a child as a negative. Goku's one of the strongest people in the multiverse, of course most things aren't going to worry him and he'll largely regain the carefree attitude he had as a child. After all, why take anything seriously when you're stronger than 99.9% of existence? Even him seemingly needing to relearn lessons from the original Dragon Ball seems like a logical trajectory to me. Early on, Goku was taught the spiritual aspects of Ki by his mentors, most notably Mr Popo and Kami, but as the series progressed Goku found more success just getting more power through intense physical training, physical transformations and incredible rage, rather than spiritual fulfillment. Now that he's hitting the peak of his physical power he needs to relearn the spiritual in order to take himself to the next level. It feels less to me like he straight up devolved, and moreso like his personality was the result of him spending years evolving in the wrong direction.
      Vegeta never really learned Ki's spiritual aspects until the training with Whis, beforehand preferring to train only in the physical to gain more power. Vegeta's inferior training technique is the likely reason he struggled to catch up to Goku before they reached God level.
      As for Vegeta wanting to be Goku's rival again in Super despite saying that Goku was better than him in the Boo arc? Easy, he can acknowledge that Goku is and may very well always be the best, but that doesn't mean he should give up. Goku gives him an eternal goal to meet and should he happen to surpass him in the process, so be it. He seems to approach his rivalry from a much more healthy perspective than before underneath that gruff exterior. Not to mention that Vegeta may not have even seen a path to greater strength before being introduced to God Ki. Perhaps being exposed to a new pinnacle of power that neither he nor Goku could have previously dreamed of reinvigorated his drive to not only catch up, but to be the strongest. Another thing to consider is that Toriyama approached writing Super as if he didn't skip to an epilogue after the Boo saga, so while that epilogue still happened in a broad strokes sense, Super isn't and never has been beholden to replicate it 100%, so perhaps Toriyama considered Vegeta admitting Goku was better a mistake, as having Vegeta give up leaves Goku without a rival, handicapping potential stories.
      Also, I just really love that characters are getting forms unique to them now. Goku has UI and it's offshoots, Vegeta has Ultra Ego, Gohan has Beast, Broly has his mutated Super Saiyan form, it's not just the same linear progression through the same Super Saiyan forms for all relevant characters. Even Piccolo has his Orange form.
      That's pretty much all I have to say, and if you've taken the time to read all of this, then I sincerely thank you.

    Man I'm just going to come right out and say it I'm an OG fan of Dragon Ball ever since the show was new and before it appeared on Toonami run in the late nineties and early 2000.
    But with that being said I think Dragon Ball hasn't been the best as of lately Dragon Ball super was the most disgraceful pitiful representation of the franchise it had some good Concepts but that was about all because all of it got carved up into the propeller blades right after the Battle of Gods.
    But a stomach watching the nonsense that Dragon Ball super displayed which almost made me sick thinking of how they handled the characters that I grew up with especially Goku no I'm not afraid to admit that it and don't get all bent out of shape over it but even the greatest artists make mistakes in Dragon Ball super wasn't the best work from Akira Toriyama.
    Now I know that GT wasn't necessarily perfect but you could tell but this was the same Goku in characters that developed through Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z and GT tide in to the original continuity Akira Toriyama helped out in the making of GT it even said to fans that they could consider GT the official continuation or Side Story so to me it makes it Canon because of Akira Toriyama is involved in in it but overall GT was substantially better then Super.
    Now what's this nonsense that you were also talking about evening Original Dragon Ball there were transformations but once you get into Dragon Ball Z Transformations for everything it wasn't all about learning a technique anymore like it was in original Dragon Ball it was all about how powerful your newest transformation was.
    Any Dragon Ball GT we got the true Evolution Past Super Saiyan three that was Super Saiyan 4 which was all that was needed.
    While Dragon Ball super there were so many transformations then it just got ridiculous and Bland to say the least all they needed was Super Saiyan God that would have been the simplest concept if I had Goku struggle to master it and have Super Saiyan God be the only Flagship form of the series just like Super Saiyan 4 was the flagship form of GT.
    So I'm glad that no more is being transformed into anime and just sticking with manga because the anime hands down was completely awful they brung back characters like Frieza and turn them into the comedy relief then they bring back Broly an man completely disgraced his character.
    And Daima is clearly a rip-off of GT the same concept of turning Goku back into a kid and need I mention about Goku susanoo which is a clear rip off of Madara susanoo yeah that was really original.
    Now I'm going to move on to something else that you just said Dragon Ball may have been one of the most popular animes but it wasn't the most popular because even back in the late 90s and early 2000s there were several of them that were good I considered right up there with Dragon Ball because there are other well-known animes that have been around for years like Inuyasha Trigun zoids in Cowboy Bebop for example that I consider just as good just because their story is more consistent and they have not had any plot holes in their story are the anime.
    Now I love Akira toriyama's work but it was not perfect he made mistakes and he never kept notes on his work he stated that in an interview.
    So if you're going to be a content creator then talk about the truth.

      @@shanepoole527You didn't say anything new or revolutionary in your comment, just yapped the same regurgitated sentences all the normies keep repeating. Look, if you don't like DBS and think it's the worst thing in the universe, that's fine, but don't be coming at people who enjoy it only because you detest it with all your heart.
      Some fans just like to watch the battles, other like the comedy you happen to detest so much, etc. you're not changing all that with your loud scream lmao. Sure even I think DBS is far from being perfect and I wish it was more centered towards it's Z/GT roots, but maybe DBS wants to be it's own thing and I just accept it and move on. After DBS truly comes to an end you'll be able to scream as much as you want.
