    Geoff's brother-in-law played Santa. But I believe the voice was dubbed by one of the other group members. I don't know which one.
    When Voiceplay does covers of "ordinary" songs, sometimes their video visuals are pretty simple. But when it's showtunes, they go all out. Costumes, makeup, character voices, greenscreen, whatever.
    For songs where they're using just their primary singing voices, so you have something to critique, I suggest Can't Help Falling In Love, Tennessee Whiskey, Carry On Wayward Son, or Go The Distance. For another showtune production just for funsies, try You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.

    Both Tim Faust (the bass for Home Free) and Avi Kaplan (formerly the bass for Pentatonix) have said that they think Geoff Castellucci is a much better, deeper bass than either of them -- capable of reaching lower notes than either of the two of them -- which is a claim that Geoff refuses to accept as true. The truth is that all three of them are friends and none of them have a competitive relationship with one another.

    • @eolsunder
      @eolsunder Год назад +1

      yep Geoff learned from Tim how to hit the lower notes, Geoff didn't know how before to do the low growl which Tim does so Geoff had Tim teach him that method so now Geoff can hit those lower notes easier he never heard of doing that before he listened to Tim. But even such talented people do a lot of practice, Geoff has said he's been working on it for years and still isn't quite great with it, it takes a lot of practice to fine tune such techniques.

    • @skydriver5709
      @skydriver5709 10 месяцев назад

      @@paulstelian97 I have seen the cases where Geoff is using subharmonics and whoever is doing the video edit overlaying that he's hitting a B0, but he's not actually hitting a B0. He's hitting a B1 with subharmonic register, which simulates the rumbly, low resonating effect a B0 has but its in the key of B1. Same with Tim Foust of Home Free. They've never hit a true A0 or B0. I think Geoff's lowest note in song that i've seen/heard is maybe an E1, which is lower than a B1, because the scales change on C notes, not A's.
      A0, B0, C1, D1, E1, F1, G1, A1, B1, C2, etc.
      But you're right, it just doesn't sound human at all, and the fact Geoff is only like 6' 180-190lbs doing it is even more freakish.

    Dude, Geoff is pretty much literally the best XD He always brings it, whether he's hitting the low bass or going up higher. Heck, he's even got a solo channel, where he'll layer himself four or five times in the video, singing all of the different parts. He did a great job with The Headless Horseman, but my favorite is his cover of the song Sixteen Tons... so you might need to look into that one.
    That high tenor that you were geeking out over is Earl, who left the group over a year ago. Sadly, JNone (their baritone) has just left the group himself... and they hadn't even had a chance to set a permanent replacement for Earl yet, so at the moment, VoicePlay only has three permanent members in it, though they may be close to closing with a new high tenor, named Deejay Young. I'm close to giving him my full seal of approval, I just need to see him in one of their more theatrical pieces like this one in order to 100% endorse him.
    And yes, Geoff blows the bottom out of the basement. He doesn't just have a bass range, he's actually skilled with subharmonics, and even goes into how subharmonics work on his solo channel.

    Welcome to the lovely world of subharmonics. I have been practicing them since learning how they work and I still suck after almost a year. Geoff is INSANE!

    Gotta love Geoff and his low notes. Most bases drop into the basement when they sing, but Geoff is one of very few who dives down and cracks the foundation. And makes it look effortless.

    i love Geoff's 4+ Octave run in the end of this..... although if you want to see the bottom of Geoff's range and just how impressive he really is, check out Valhalla calling, he holds a b0 for around 10 seconds in the first minute of that song...

    I know you said you've never heard a vocalist go lower than the E1 in this song, but this same bass actually went lower in the Little Mermaid Medley you reacted to before (D1 subharmonic), you couldn't really hear it because it was double tracked under a strong D2 at the end of his big slide starting from D5 (!!!). There's a video on RUclips of the D1 isolated without the D2 tracked over it if you're interested in hearing it.

    First off I just want to say I loved your reactions to Voiceplay so far. Second if you liked those you should react to Geoff's covers that he does by himself they are amazing every single one of them. And last but certainly not least so happy to be a part of the #SubscriptionSquad to one of the most beautiful reactors on all of youtube😘

    D - When you're ready for another powerhouse a cappella group, Home Free will amaze you. Whereas VP has lost 2 members and is down to a group of 3, Home Free has maintained the same lineup for 5 years. There are many good points of entry to the HF rabbit hole, but most reactors begin with their covers of "Man of Constant Sorrow", "Ring of Fire", "End of the Road", "American Pie", or "When a Man Loves a Woman." The only place NOT to begin is "Mayday" by Cam. HF does a great cover, but you can't appreciate it fully until you are thoroughly familiar with the guys and their voices.

    Definitely ear candy and a great showcase for Geoff's range, especially that 4-5 octave spread at the very end. I'm glad you showed off your ear "buds" because I was going to suggest them. First time seeing you but loved your reaction.
    You are right about their theatrical ability. Of the big 4 acapella groups on RUclips, VoicePlay (5 members, all male) definitely seems to be the most theatrical, has unique arrangments, and I think several of the members worked for the theme parks in Orlando, FL near where they live. Additionally, their wacky sense of humor shows through quite often in their videos and their performances or interviews. They do covers but I haven't heard anything original from them. Voctave is also based in the same area, has the same theme park background, is slightly less theatrical in their RUclips videos, but has a larger mixed group (anywhere from 8 to 15 from what I've seen) and, uniquely, no beatboxer. Again, covers only from them. Pentatonix (5 member mixed group) helped (with Pitch Perfect) bring acapella music back to the front-and-center for the modern viewer and music connoseur, paved the contemporary social media platform for everyone else, has innovative signature-style arrangements, and has the largest audience world-wide; to see their sense of humor, you have to wander over the 'Superfruit', a separate channel by 2 of the members. This group does mostly covers with some original material. HomeFree (5 members; all male) has cornered the market on (and perhaps invented altogether) the country acapella sound but can certainly hold their own in R&B ("End of the Road'), rap ("The Butts Remix"), gospel ("How Great Thou Art" and Peter Hollens' "Amazing Grace"), pop ("Country-Fried Pop Medley," "Life Is a Highway"), assorted ("All About that Bass," "My Church," and "Mayday"), patriotic (Lee Greenwood and the USAF Singing Sergeants "God Bless the U.S.A."), children's ("Try Everything"), romance ("When a Man Loves a Woman"), straight-up harmony ("Helplessly Hoping"), and of course, country ("Ring of Fire" with Avi Kaplan, Oak Ridge Boys' "Elvira," "Meet In the Middle," "Take Me Home, Country Roads," Don McLean's "American Pie," "Go Rest High on that Mountain), ...). Their wack-a-doodle sense of humor is on display at all times and their beatboxer, Adam Rupp, has his own solo on RUclips that can make anyone a beatboxing believer and rumbles the theater at all performances; he's one of the best in the world.
    Look forward to more acapella. Definitely haul them back out around the holidays because all of them have great Christmas music. #subscriptionsquad

    Hell, there would be no way she could voice coach me. I'd be too mesmerised by those eyes, I could drown in them.
    The last note was a B1, I can hit it too, but without the amount of power that Geoff has. He's a trained singer though while I'm not.
    I love to hear Geoff sing, I often sing along with him, especially Misty Mountains Cold. He does a lot of videos of him in multiple roles from low bass to almost a soprano, he has an amazing voice range.
    I also listen to his coaching videos on how to sing low notes, I've learned quite a lot from his videos.
