Clicker Custom Dies and Molds for Cutting Leather Shapes, Bracelets, Belts, Dog Collars and Straps

Introduction to dies and molds for cutting leather. We mainly use the clear acrylic dies with a hand press or clicker. There are also the steel dies that are used with bigger industrial press machines. Rani shows his vast die collection and how he uses them with his hand press to cut leather shapes. We also show you a big die to cut packaging and discuss the subject of cutting boards.
CHAPTERS:
00:00 Introducing leather cutting dies and molds. Dies are sharp knives with special shapes and designs and we can use them to cut our custom shaped leather pieces with the holes and curves we need. You will also need a press. The acrylic transparent dies we have are from China. You have to send that company a digital file with your artwork and they will manufacture your die based on that. We use Adobe Illustrator for creating our die designs and we also have a free course on Granny Wheels that will teach you how to design your own dies.
02:05 Steel heavy duty dies are for cutting thicker leather and we cannot use our hand press for those. You will need a bigger industrial press clicker. We have one of those steel dies made by Weaver in the USA.
03:08 The advantage of transparent dies. Because they are transparent you can cut the leather more precisely and not waste any leather. There are also many wooden dies in the market but we do not use them.

06:29 Discussing and showing different cutting boards. You can get cheap salad cutting boards in the supermarket but those thin ones wear out and warp very quickly. Thicker boards will last longer.
