Every person with a heart and a brain, gets every time chills, goosbumps. Its the song for all of us. One of their best songs, ever, and i listen to them since.... oh im so old :)
There is no grim-reaper. The three black entities are the three nornes. Representing "fate", "future (what will be), "the future that should be". Norns visit a newborn child in order to determine the person's future. These Norns could be malevolent or benevolent, causing tragic events in the world or can be kind and protective. The women giving birth cannot see the future of their children, that is why they are blindfolded.
I thought they were blind- folded because of the sand! I like your explanation better. But making this video was no easy feat and that certainly includes the sand they used!

The three black figures are the Norns (female beings of fate) from Norse mythology. Their names are Urd (fate), Verdandi (becoming) and Skuld (guilt; that which will be). Their names are considered the Norse equivalent of the conceptions of time common in the Middle Ages in the form of personifications of the past (Urd), the present (Verdandi), and the future (Skuld).
The Norns create and control the destiny, even that of the gods. They appeared at every birth to weave their thread of fate by casting lots of wood, weaving a piece of cloth or carving symbols in wood.
The three main norns also served as guardians of the Tree of Life, which contains the nine worlds of Norse mythology. Their care only slows the death of the tree, for a cornerstone of Norse mythology is that all things eventually come to an end. All existence will end with Ragnarok.
For me it's their ultimate masterpiece. The song and video can emphasize your current emotional state depending how you are handling with time. Just watch it again in different moods.

Hey great reaction! They are my FAVORITE band! Please do more and welcome to the Rammstein rabbit hole. Oh by the way most people don't realize that the babies are going back inside mom... not coming out. Anyhow please do the song ADIEU! It's from same album and just as cool as this video but way different at the same time. These guys are great. Till the vocalist is actually a fantastic singer and the whole band are great actors as well. Most of their live stuff is mind blowing when you are actually there! I was soooo lucky to finally see them in Chicago back in September. It had been postponed because of covid for two years. Their show was so freaking cool I literally teared up when it ended. Lol I seriously didn't want it to be over. If you didn't know, Till is a professional pyrotechnition. These guys use an insane amount of fire in their shows, and the fire is used in such unique and interesting ways. Example: flamethrower face mask.. yup you read correctly lol. Please do more!!

What a great reaction. That's how I sat infront the monitor when I saw the vid the first time. It is such a great video and one out of three that makes me cry everytime I see it :)
Zeit wasn't what I had expected at all from Rammstein and certainly not as a first release from the new album. For my own reasons, I felt completely broken by the song and the visuals. I was a sobbing mess by the end and it still catches me when I least expect it. It's such a beautiful, emotional, heart rending but honest song. This is life, and this is death. Death comes to us all eventuality, nothing in life is guaranteed, not even tomorrow and this is a harsh fact. Stunning imagery showing death back to the first moment of life. The death of Ollie's daughter in the video makes me feel cold as a parent - it's not the natural order of things. There's a drumbeat during that scene sounding like a heartbeat that stops as she's taken by the timekeeper. At the end, you hear the second hand of a clock ticking and then the distortion on the guitars sounding like the noise of an entire life and the video then ends with the sound of a final gasp of breath. An absolute masterpiece.
Hi! No, I believe it starts with death and ends with the first breath, only the daughter part is in forward time (I believe backwards wouldn't impact you so much)

If you are a fan of Details - My favorites are the ticking Clock in the Outro/Credits, how the end gets louder and louder and then you hear the "last breath"

It's not confirmed anywhere but there is an almost 100% chance the 3 figures (Zeithüter) are directly inspired by "The Norms" in Norse mythology. It's so close to the mythology I'm sure it's not coincidental. Quite beautiful meaning and lots of connections with the video (3 figures, past present future, time, fate, the "sand tree" in the middle with women given birth can be a representation of Yggdrasil (world tree), they are present at birth, etc.). Read the following then rewatch the video, quite interesting!

I think about the first part (The boat and drowning) is, before they sink, they saw the grim reaper, representing that situations, death, accidents or tragedies can't be avoided, wherever the reapers are, something must happens, cause' that's how time works, won't stop.
also lyrically Till sang "we die until we live" so the video playing backwards kinda fits it well

To me, it's a represetation of Time, Death and Inevitability of life.
We are marked at birth, whether we have an incling of it or not.
Three parts of this video strucks me the hardest.
When the child is "unborned" (marked at birth), when they struggle futively against sand and when the kid dies in the arms of the farmer.
Because I have a kid of that age and I am at that age of the father, it really hits me hard.
...all I can do is teach my son to manage the world that is thrown at his face.

The three black hooded figures with the unrecognizable faces (the "faces" looking similar to the water in the beginning of the video) are not the grim reaper, but part of the indogermanic myth, representing the three `Nornen´, as they are mentioned in the `Edda´ (my translation is a bit humble, I fear, and of course the myth is a bit deeper): Three women with old knowledge came out of the sea (see video), they are the mythological shapers of the fate of men and gods, and their names are Urd (that what has been), Verdandi (that what is) and Skuld (that what will come) - simple said: Past, Future, Present. So they are the keepers of time (time = Zeit in German) and accompany us from birth to death. They are not evil - they are just part of the world. When the time of your death has come, they cut your "Lebensfaden" (thread of life) - we see this thread leave Christoph´s neck at the beginning of the video, so he died in the water. The water itself and the boat may represent your little nutshell in the ocean of life, Rammstein already had that topic life/ocean in "Seemann", it´s pretty common.
The women give birth already knowing the baby is fated to die - so they are shown helpless and angry, facing the tragic helplessness in terms of life and death. Of course the hour glass stands for time passing without any pause.
The last scene shows the Rammsteiner looking like Amish people, and reaping - maybe the harvest of their lifes? But whatever sucess they are harvesting - time terminates everything and does not look up at age oder what you want and wish. The girl heads to the call of the Norne, leaves everything behind, with their silent escort becoming a part of the sands of time.
And everywhere the sand, nothing is everlasting.

Adieu, Deutschland, Angst, Zeit are ALL artistically heavy stuff. Eleven years since their last album. Smart review BTW. Didn't feel fake like those who latch on only because other reactors get views and then are baffled and blankly stare, previously watched and fake it, don't care, dishonest, or just looking for clicks. Keep being real. Artistic vision and music should go hand in hand.

My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.

From their last album "Zeit" I would recommend (beside those you already reacted to):
Zick Zack (Snip Snap) catchy song, sarcastic, funny
Dicke Titten (Big Boobs) heavy (most of the time), catchy, funny, credits are funny too (my view)
Adieu (Goodbye) dark, sometimes heavy, emotional
(The second one is more a fun song than one with a serious message.)
Additionally you could take a look at:
Radio (Radio) catchy song (with serious background)
Last but not least the great (but not nice) video "Deutschland" which has a lot of references to (mostly unpleasent) parts of German history. Video, lyrics, and sound are great (my view) and work very well together.
There are also videos from their incredible live performances available (some with good sound quality). But these are mostly straight forward (like "Du hast"). If you are interested, I could also add some proposals for these.
Rammstein by and large never explain their lyrics, so always remember that comments about what the lyrics truly mean are personal interpretations.
With that caveat up front, I see the three characters as time keepers, not the grim reaper or a personification of death. It’s ultimately about the passing of time, how it is inevitable and it’s up to us to make the most of the time we have.

Another thing that came to my mind is the babies being put back in to the mother to be born again on earth and also coming back in a sense they died on earth and are now being born in the other world and their birth or rebirth on earth is them already starting to die because as soon as your born your dying..your dying to live or as Rammstein put it "Wir sterben weiter bis wir leben" "We keep dying until we live" because in a sense what we perceive as dying is us actually being born again into the other world that's why the girl in the end seems happy when she dies because she knows that her death here means her being born over there..if that makes any Sense? This is art at its finest 🥰
The three figures are not "reapers". They origin in Germanic mythology and represent Norns... probably the three major Norns "Urdr" (the past), "Verdandi" (the present) and "Skuld" (the future) which spin the threads of fate at the foot of the world tree Yggdrasil. However, they cannot influence or change the fate of the world or individuals within. They aren't goddesses and are themselves fated.
The three creepy figures are called time keepers by Rammstein. Doubtless an referring to the Norns. According to the "Völuspa", Norns (Nornir) are three immortal female figures in pre-Christian, old Germanic/Nordic mythology who sit on the banks of the Urd River at the root of the world ash Yagdrasil and spin the threads of fate for gods and humans. (The three sinister figures in the Rammstein video undoubtedly provide an analogy) The names of the three Norns are:
"Urd" (fate / that which has become) She is an old woman who constantly looks back over her shoulder at the time long past.
"Verdandi" (Present / The Being) She has the form of a young woman who is always looking ahead.
"Skuld" (Future/The Becoming) Unlike Urd and Verdandi, Skuld is an unpredictable force that has no love for gods or humans. She wears a veil and holds a book or scroll in each hand. Her gaze is always directed in the opposite direction of Urd's gaze.
The Nornir spin the thread of Fate and life for every human being, and when that thread is severed, the human's life ends. Remnants of this mythology can still be found today in the Germanic/Nordic language area. There is a commonly used saying for a person who is in danger of death. "His life hangs by a thin thread only".

i love honest reactions, but i must say what for some Ppl. is kinda shocking like the Birth giving situation they just show everything how it is in real life. Hi Darryl. I wouldn't use the term improved. I take your criticism, however with this reaction being a product of my channel I take discretion on what I'll show, even if the band does not. If anyone wants to see the uncensored footage they can go to the official video for the song.
