Last year I had to undergo several surgeries .. this was the song they played for me while they gave me anesthetics .. I fell asleep on my favorite Rammstein song (besides Weisses Fleish) .. I was happy .. if I wouldn't wake up after the surgery .. I would have died happy! With a smile on my face!
This year, on July 6th, I was well enough to go see Rammstein live in Groningen, the Netherlands!

The "Mutter" era is definitely very special for me, because that album is responsible for me falling in love with Rammstein and it brings a lot of memories...

Till attended a sports border school for future olympic athletes in the DDR. He was a swimmer. It was assumingly not the best time of his life.

Fun fact.. there exist a 3rd video for this song. Its an unnofficial directors cut (Eugenio recuenco), that version used the original album version.
2nd fun fact.. I guess they or the director had the inspiration for the cello scenes from the band Apocalyptica (they only play cellos and meke them sound as electric guitars) whom where playing along with Rammstein in a couple concerts.
I still feel like you could play the piano version immediately after this version and it would work together.

Finally after 10.000 years... the original video. It is the best version by far. The song's lyrics involve a narrator describing the terrors of nightmares. The opening line of the song's intro and chorus ("Now, dear children, pay attention. I have brought something for you") is taken from the German children's TV Show "Mr Sandman", which provided children with a "nice" bedtime story. The song's narrator appears as a much more darker version of this character.
In this video, the character of the Sandman is played by Melanie Gaydos a famous model. Melanie Gaydos has suffered from a rare genetic defect since she was born: Her head is bald, her teeth and nails are malformed. She first appears to a sleeping Richard Kruspe, triggering nightmares and sending him into a state of agony. Meanwhile, Till terrorizes the complex of Beelitz-Heilstätten (military hospital of the Imperial German Army and Adolf Hitler recuperated there after being wounded in the first world war), which acts as an orphanage. He kidnaps the orphans and places them in a cage located in the main bathroom. A female warden attempts to defend the children with a shotgun, but Till overpowers her. The warden appears in the video both young (Viktorija Bojarskaja) and old (Anna von Rüden), while Till remains the same age, indicating immortality and paranormal abilities.
While guarding the orphans, Till takes a grotesque, insect-like form with an elongated head and fingers. The children are then used in various examinations and surgeries with the rest of the band playing the doctors. The female warden is also seen assisting them in her younger form. One of the surgeries sees a child's tears extracted through a syringe, which is then vaginally injected by the Sandman. The Sandman is also subject to examinations by the doctors, as Paul H. Landers is seen giving her a gynecological examination.
She later walks in a dress shielding two small children, possibly indicating that the tears are involved in a form of In vitro fertilisation. While Till is away from the main bathroom, the children (portrayed by the rest of the band as disheveled adults) escape from their cage and the orphanage. This causes Till to tear out and consume his own heart while the Heilstätten is engulfed in an inferno. The video ends with the liberated walking away from the building, while the chorus of the piano version plays in the background, signalling the video of the piano version as an afterword. (Wikipedia)
The song "my heart burns" is the film score for "Lilja 4-ever". A film about child prostitution. That's why you could interpret the text based on this film. In the film, girls from Russia lured to Sweden in the hope of a better life, in which a young and attractive man promises her heaven there: "Dear children, take care, I am the voice from the pillow" Then the sentence "Tore it out of my chest, I can imagine that she died inside every time she was raped. Since the rapes happen under cover of the night, this motif comes up frequently in the song. They steal your hot little tears, The film is a nightmare and it leaves a feeling of emptiness and powerlessness ...

@@michaelfinck7487 I'm sorry, but I don't know all these many sources you speak of....However, I know many others who say that Till is the "sandman"....that said and on the other hand there is has a real controversy between those who think he is a "good" sandman or a "bad" sandman.
The different literary sources of the character "Sandman" from several countries do not really allow us to settle the question!...

Personally, when I see Rammstein in concert (I've seen several) and Till pulls his burning heart out of his chest, it seems to me that he wants to light up the dark night of children to give them hope. . And besides you will notice that at the end of the video when the children (became adults) are released, Till eats his heart, in fact they no longer need light because they are finally out of their nightmares.
I think your interpretation of this song is wrong...but that's just my opinion.

You know sites that talk about Rammstein, there are several such as "rammstein world" and many more...
If you find me a site where the members of "Rammstein" clearly explain what they meant in this song, then I will read it...and it wouldn't even be enough in fact, because they love to cover their tracks and saying things that are not necessarily true is called "playing with the media"

For me Mélanie Gaydos appears in the nightmares of children (and Richard too), she is a figure of the nightmare (her strange, even unsightly physique helps her to play this role)

To understand the lyrics and their meaning, pay attention to the lyrics, pay attention to the location, both in the piano as well the official "normal" version. Hear me out, the guy just put out a new album last month, been following him for a year now and am intrigued by his music so much. Go watch and listen to his first album, I suggest "Rocket Man" before you get an opinion his roots.
His name is Nick Sax (Ник Сакс), and I discovered him while discovering Hardbass. His style brings to life the punk scene in the Russian rave culture, which I can describe to be on the level of The Ramones.
If you do take me up on this idea of mine, pick, maybe two, of something from the inner tracks of that new album, I think there's some good ones there. He's like Till in a way but from Russia, with love y'all both take care

This is the original version of the song. IMO it is the real thing, breathtaking musicianship. The piano version is an intimate version highlighting Till’s voice.Nice but not the real thing.

The most overrated band of all time, whose success is mainly due to their violence-glorifying, misogynistic and sexist lyrics. A symbol of a perverted society in which violence, hatred, social exclusion and oppression are becoming a lifestyle for more and more people. And the fact that the German Public Prosecutor's Office, which has several sworn statements from victims, has been investigating lead singer Till Lindemann for sexual abuse for a few months now, underlines that he probably lives the heinous things he writes about in his lyrics and poems. People who promote such a band on their YT channels should not complain about violence, hatred and injustice in our society, because by doing so they also only make themselves hypocrites.
You are miserably misinformed it seems. The prosecutor's office has no sworn statements from victims. The affidavits were made in front of journalists and don't even contain accusations that would be criminal if true. The prosecutor's office is investigating because unrelated people filed a charge, i.e. people who read about the accusations in a newspaper/online. Go and educate yourself about the topic before you spread misinformation here. Furthermore, it's not very intelligent and sympathetic to accuse someone of hypocrisy and supporting violence because they listen to a song.
Last but not least: Can you tell us when and where Rammstein's lyrics are violence-glorifying, mysogynist and sexist? The songs are harsh, yes, but this is to portray the world as it is and also shed the light on topics most people don't want to talk about because it's uncomfortable. It doesn't mean that the members would like to eat human flesh or imprison their own daughter in a cellar. Didn't you learn in school to seperate the lyrical I from the artist?
