If that song they dropped "Follow You into the Dark" is any indication, the soundtrack should transport us right back to the atmosphere of Bright Falls. So glad a younger generation gets to experience AW.

The control fits so well in to the things with altered items. Light switch obviously was altered item. But on Alan Wake 1 it is hard to deduce what was real and what was Alan just writing the story. Control puts everything in a more "concrete state", even though very paranormal.

I think I even saw an article not long ago about digital games being easier to preserve than their discs versions. Not that I'm against physical media, in fact I think it's a better option if you like to sell or exchange the games you already played but... for you to better preserve your games you should put them into some sort of digital storage I think.

I was in early high school when this game came out, and it immediately became one of my favorites of all time. I play so, so many games, but this one, this one is one of the special ones. It sits on a special shelf in my heart. Now I am 29, working full time to live, but i will be taking the day off of work on release day, to lock myself indoors and play without any inhibition or outside interference, just as i did all those years back in high school:) And that was not and is not a common occurrence of behavior for me, but for Alan Wake, yes. The hype is very real.

This is a single player - offline game - not a “game as service” so it’s not like if the servers go offline a la Ubisofts old catalog (which is where all of this whining about physicals comes from - and people that buy & play Ubisoft deserve to be ripped off 🤣 ok JK but Ubisoft sucks fat Ding Dong fr fr) that the game is going offline with them - once the final build is issued if you own it and have a machine that you purchased it on (except of course if PlayStation or PCs disappear which if that happens we’ve got wayyyy bigger problems going on in gaming to worry ab) then you’ll have it to play forever. I’d also be very surprised if you didn’t see Remedy release a collectors edition or ultimate edition with AW1&2 - Control launched the exact same way and then got a physical ultimate edition. As someone who invested a good bit into Remedy in 2019 via Nasdaq this is a long term play where not shipping a physical helps the developer to recoup cost + profit quicker - once the IP sells well (hopefully) then that can be addressed as with Control UE. If you think Sam and Remedy don’t want a physical release of all their games then you’re just being cynical. Contrary to belief - Remedy is actually very much an INDIE STUDIO. That just so happens to produce AAA quality games. Which makes them that much more of a diamond and rare. This is attributed primarily to the fact that they own their proprietary Northlight engine which happens to have some of the most talented tech teams on the planet pushing it forward and continuously streamlining and integrating emerging tech. It’s easily top 5 engines proprietary or 3rd party out there and I think people will be blown away at just how gorgeous AW2 is going to look especially with the path tracing on PC.
