This is a great recap! Honestly it makes me realize I may not have completely understood everything that happened in the fiest game
I must have missed the fiest game. what was it on?
@@DrGeta666 fieststation exclusive.
😭😭
@@DrGeta666It’s on everything, xbox, pc, ps, fiest
Remaster5 lol@@corruptVz
Beat these games years ago but forgot just about everyone except for the epic concert zombie battle scene. Thanks for the recap!
Watching this because I want to play Alan Wake II without playing anything before it
You can’t skip lunch
Alan Wake 1 is good, you should play it.

Alan wake and control
Filling up my car with gas because I don't want it to run out while I'm driving.
The game is fantastic and Remedy are easily one of my favorite game development teams around right now. Their games are just always so unique and fun with super intriguing settings and stories. Control was honestly one of the best games I've played in a long time.
I couldn’t get into Control 😢
@@oosa358 Took me a little while too. I stopped playing altogether then went back to it and loved it. I feel like the story is a little hard to follow, but the gameplay is great once you start to make some progression and get into the game loop.
Control really was so much fun and unique!
Crazy. I played the first as an 18 year old kid. I’m playing the second 14 years later as a 32 year old man.
Time flies kids. Enjoy it while you got it.
The only game I've played was Control, thank you for this. I'm getting Alan Wake 2 tonight.
Same.
Same here
Excellent concise recap, hit everything in 12 minutes!
Thanks for this. I just couldn't get myself to go back through the first game to understand the story to this point. The controls and pacing and graphics just hurt my brain trying to replay. Even if it does have a great narrative.
I somehow finished the first game. Made me super frustrated.
For me it was the voice acting. Distractingly bad
Nothing wrong with it. Enjoy it for what it is. A game that came out during a different era.
This was a great, put together video with an excellent gentleman at the helm. I replayed the remake and Control again, so this is the perfect video for full clarity 👍🏻
My head hurt after this. Boy this was twist and turns
Ow good its not just me this is very complex
I did play control and now even more confused about that game 😂
Thank you for this. Played the first Alan Wake but never finished it. And I didn't know there was more beyond it. Now I'm all caught up.
The FBC is the most interesting thing about this entire universe. I hope we get more games relating to those guys. Going into AW2 tomorrow.
Nah Xbox 360 gang
I assume you have played Control?
@@Zibbit27 of course I have, loved it. Was my introduction to Remedy.
What is FBC?
@@beargrylls6135 Federal Bureau of Control, the government organization in charge of keeping check of the anomalous and non-explainable phenomenon/artefacts/people in the Remedy verse. An analog of the SCP Foundation.
Watched a 12min recap and I still couldn't tell you what this game is about.
The story is a little TOO out there lol. I'm right there with you.
Alan Wake 2 is amazing. It is true survival horror. It’s a lot like Silent Hill in the sense that you constantly feel unsettled and weirded out by the atmosphere and enemies… I was so surprised how scary it was because I kinda remember the original not being THAT scary. I also remember some goofy parts in the first one that made it seem like the game didn’t want to fully commit to horror survival. But this game changes that completely. The story is also really in depth and will spin your head trying to make sense of it all. I’m not even that far into it but it’s already one of my top 2 or 3 games of the year.
I played Alan Wake and American Nightmare soooo long ago that I really needed this recap lol. Unfortunately I never did do the Control DLC.
Thanks heaps for the recap. Really helped with understanding Alan wake 2. Cheers again
Thanks for this vid. It's been so long .
its been years since i played the first game so thank you i needed this
Alan Wake is part of the "Control" world.. which makes AW all the more interesting
Or is the whole Bureau of Control a creation written into existence by Alan Wake while in the dark place as hinted at in the AWE expansion. The levels of chicken and egg in the Remedy Connected Universe, as it's officially called, go very deep. Did Zane write Wake into existence or the other way around? Did ghe Bureau of Control discover the dark place or did Wake make up Control and the oldest house just to justify the existence of Jesse Faden?
Control is in the Alan Wake world.
@@antivantithe recap here stated that Remedy confirmed that Alan Wake did not create the FBC and that they exist in the same world.
@@AllGoodBoysDie Yeah I heard that after writing. I'm a bit sad and annoyed that they explicitly said that tho
Quantum Break is also withing this world. Yah I think the Remedy shared universe is such a great idea. And we have Control 2 actively in development so it will be interesting to see how the IP’s continue to integrate with each other. They just have such a unique way of storytelling, and we get rare few of these kind of existential supernatural horror titles in the triple A space that Remedy really do offer something unique to gaming with every release.
Thanks! played this a decade ago, needed a refresher before Alan wake 2 today, : )
Man it's been a long time since I played the original and even though I loved it I forgot the finer points so this helps getting into the second one.
I played and finished both, this game is easy my top 1 pick for horror/scacry games. The story is amazing and well thought and the game it self makes sure to hold you in suspense throughout the entire time.....
Years later after watching Twin Peaks I love the references and homages. The whole “you’ll be in the dark place but an evil doppelgänger will live your life while you’re there” I thought was an especially cool narrative concept I’m glad they used.
What is twin peaks?
@@phrofile3613 its a TV show by David Lynch and Mark Frost. If you like Alan Wake you'll probably like Twin Peaks.
Explained very well!
i played alan wake when it came out but had pretty much forgotten everything other than i really liked it. didn’t want to play it again before getting into alan wake 2
Am super excited for alan wake 2
@@MichaelDoesLife. Yup
We all are mate🥳🥳🥳🥳🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
@@Judas_Krimson the specs are out and it seems like i can't enjoy Alan wake 2 so I only have to watch others play it
@@This_Guy- so sorry mate, I hope you’ll be able to upgrade asap so you can play as well🥹🙏🏽
@@Judas_Krimson yes I hope so too 🥹🥹
I absolutely adore Alan Wake and Alan Wake: American Nightmare. However the story has never been coherent to me. This actually helped when you said its still open to interpretation to this day. But sometimes I also think the story is just bonkers! There's more to the story - eg This video didn't really explore how the "lady of the light" Cynthia Weaver was obsessed (romantically) with thomas Zane.
It does not explain the story of Agent Robert Nightingale, who appears in the 70-page collector's edition book. :c
I remember back when the first game came out that the developers considered it "season one" of Alan Wake, which made sense to me given all of the amiguities and unanswered questions that, if left in a story that was supposed to have a definitive end, would just feel incoherent. I'm holding out hope that the AW writers know where they're going and how to get us there, as opposed to other series like Kingdom Hearts that started understandable and then shot off into a plot so incomprehensible that trying to understand anything other than the bare bones was pointless. I'm hearing great things about rhw AWII story, though, so it seems like we're dealing with the former rather than the latter and that makes me *super* excited.
Thanks for the alan wake 1 recap and great video :]
Very good recap 👊🏿
Alan wake was a sleeper 🎉
Great video but where is the lore for “The Signal,” and “The Writer” DLC? Those DLC’s ( although short,) are also part of the Alan Wake experience so wish you had included them.
I just finished the main game. Would you recommend playing the DLCs before starting AW2?
@@KyushuTrailI don’t think so but if you feel that you’re better informed by playing the DLC’s before starting Alan Wake 2, then go for it.
The story is more vague than the assassins creed unlockable memories of its ancestors 😂
Kudos, dude. I was tempted to play through the whole series again, but honestly American Nightmare was atrocious and I didn't even know about the other game's DLC. I feel adequately equipped now.
it would make more sense if Zane wrote Alan into reality instead, that would explain the clicker
I loved the game. Played multiple times but needed a little recap
for anyone who loves this stuff, you should read the book ‘There is no such thing as the antimimetics division’, it’s so sick
I saw a recap but after decided to just buy the game. It's on deep sale rn, as is Control, got that too.
Bravo what a recap!
Thank you great work!
Aight now i wanna play this
Love the “Twin Peaks” feel that the original game has!
Lol I googled a recap, but it was too long to read as I just wanted a generalization of it. Decided to look for a recap on RUclips, and this is word for word the same thing I was reading.
Awesome recap
4:23 Barry Allan! The Flash is here?!
Had to listen to this at a slower speed and still don’t think I’ve fully grasped it 😅 At least I have a better understanding thanks to this video. Actually I just finished the first game (minus DLCs) because I was interested in the second, but honestly don’t think I’ll bother. A little over complicated and pretentious for my liking
to bad they not remastered Alan wake's American Nightmare
I loved that game Best buck or two I've ever spent
After playing both games, I really want to see Remedy remake Alan Wake 1. They went all in on the horror aspect of the second game and I want to see that same horror in the original
P.S. I never noticed this, but I think the casual clothes Alan wears in AW2 are supposed to be a reference to American Nightmare. It’s the same blue plaid jacket and white shirt.
Man i feel like i haven't even played AW, i dont remember any of this! Lol
This seems very heavily inspired by Twin Peaks. I need to check it out
Damm this is a complex story. I did play control and now i'm even more confused about that game 😂
A lot of people will tell you to just watch a recap online, but even if you get the biggest plot points the game has so many little nods and references to the first one that I'm going to recommend playing the original before this, if you really want to get the full experience. Not to mention that Alan Wake is a fantastic game in its own right
Para este fin de semana solo quiero una coca , una pizza y alan wake 2 !.. el resto es ..........
Tried the remaster on PS5 and while the 60fps enhancement is nice, the game feels way too dated for me to enjoy. Gonna watch this to catch up so I can enjoy the more modern experience of AW2
This game was okay, but Control did this sort of gameplay better. Alan Wake was just so frustrating and clunky to play, I could never really get into it. Gonna give the new one a shot, however.
But the question is: Where does Max Payne fit in if there's a connected Remedy Universe?
I never finished the first one...got right toward the end and my save corrupted ..plus I don't really remember ..so thanks for this ..just bought Alan wake 2
watched twice, still don't understand whats happening
10:52 What about the hiss? Did he create that with his abilities?
I loved playing Alan Wake. I was excited when they announced AW2. But now I don't have the time to play games. Will be waiting for a "story recap" video of AW2 just like this one.
Barbara Jagger = Baba yaga
Wish we could have given these guys the silent hill 2 remake 😢
I always wondered who that was in control
This Alan wake universe is more complex than Steven king 😂 love the game tho
I thought American Nightmare showed the end but an end that could be right around the corner or months or even years down the line.
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I had no idea Alan wake had dlc 😮💨
my head hurts watching this.
I want to play AW2 but cannot cause I havent finished its prequel.
you guys have any suggestions?
Just play Alan Wake 1? There is a remaster which fixes some of the original graphics and whatnot
Would be cool if Quantum Break was correlated
Judging by the comments, I'm kind of bummed I watched this instead of playing the first game. I know everything that's about to happen now. I'm playing through the first game now and it's pretty neat but I feel like I'm just waiting for moments to happen
I can’t not see Bryan Kohberger when I look at OG Alan Wake
😂
Do we get rechargeable lithium ion batteries for our flashlight now? lol
The Warhammer Warp: Alpha Testing
Definitely missing a couple of brain cells, because the story seems too complex to me, which is obviously good 😭
Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice that's the story so far lol
Hehe
Nice
i dont like how this story is set up
at any point they leave a door open to bail out if some aspects of the story receive negative feedback
the ambiguity is covering quite a lot of cowardice and the same goes for the meta aspects
Mr. C is a bad dude.
I always felt like it was a book that we were playing the entire game hence why it is about a writer that’s gone crazy and doesn’t know the difference between reality and fiction, the real stuff in the game was when Alan was speaking to a psychiatrist about Alice being dead I think that is reality but Alan doesn’t want to submit to this reality, it’s kind of like Shutter Island having 2 endings and it’s up to you what you think is real and fake
This game is much better than 2nd part.
Now with Alan Wake II you can do post it notes for half the game for a mentally challenged FBI agent
There’s no way this is a racial thing for you…right?
Na no way.
Watching this cuz I played about half of Alan wake and hated it😂
what did u hate about it?
Watch Sacred Symbols Spoilercast to better understand alan wake
I hope that agents from the FBC show up in Alan Wake 2 😅
I really tried with this one and I couldn’t do it
How is it that I actually know less about Alan Wake after watching this video?
How anyone never played alan wake 1 23 years plus idk
Told the Story better than Sam Lake himself in that recent Interview 🙏
You said, "Alan awakens" without making a joke. Are you okay?
I’m so surprised. I feel like Alan Wake is so interesting, as a connected story, or a contained story. Where-as Control feels like it was setting up a lot of stuff. It makes me sad to hear people aren’t going to play the original AW and instead want to just go from Control to AW2. I can’t recommend AW enough. I just finished playing through 2 and AW1 has way better gameplay, though 2 is an amazing game in its own right and really brings the story into a full circle.
Jamie lannister needs to play alan wake if amc or hbo ever make a tv show
Too fast and too chaotic. Gonna look for more info elsewhere
Is this an AI? Why talk so fast and the music is so loud...
HUH?
now i am more confuse
Why digital game only?
To keep the price cheaper than other aaa titles.
@@rafdes yeah there's another game like a dragon gaiden the man who erased his name is also digital game only BUT only in western country. So Asian country can get physical game, WHY??
bad ads
Ummm, what?
DBD…
That made no sense whatsoever?
Why?
I think this is an AI voice right? Why does it sound so wet? If it’s a real person, try a spit guard on the mic and look up some tips for dealing with a monotone voice. Gamespot should be professional.
