True story. I worked part time for O’reilly auto and got into an argument with a mechanic about using ATF in the steering. He asked how a part store employee knew better than him. I responded that my full time job was for Jtekt automotive. THE FREEKING MANUFACTURER of ALL Toyota steering parts. That wasn’t good enough for him. Smh. Your method is perfect btw. 😊
When I first bought my "new to me" 2003 4Runner in November of 2022, I noticed a leak on the driver's side of the steering rack. Nothing major, but noticeable and the reservoir was almost empty. I added some AT205 and ATF to the reservoir and the leak has disappeared. It's still at the proper level as of yesterday. Yes, I'm cheap and I know someday I'll have to change the steering rack, but not today.
@@looseaxles being that I don't drive the car regularly, I have a battery maintainer hooked up to it so I can't help but look at the reservoir each time I pass it. Yes, it's dirty and stained so I shake the car and also check with my ONE PIECE CAP.
Great video! My return hose cracked and all fluid leaked out while on the highway. Fluid everywhere... Reservoir and lines are bone dry. Should i perform a flush before replacing the bad hose? All the other HP lines and hose are good. Just ine small section. Had Napa cut 3/8 radiator hose to length.
Thanks Gabriel! Oh boy! I would probably flush the little remaining out of the resi and then fill it up with new fluid! If it leaked quite a bit the remaining may have burnt or got stuff in it, so better to ensure it’s all clean!
Dexron. Also known as Dextron because it sounds cooler.
How much new fluid did you use to completely flush the system?
spilling the vacuum clips was so fuckin funny. def how it feels to work on cars
Haha! It can never be too easy! Thanks for stopping by!
I was changing my side marker light bulbs today, dropped and lost one in the bay somewhere 👍
I thought I was the most clumsy person who works on their own vehicles. Feels good to know I'm not alone 😁
Hahah every single time! Part of the journey :)
I love it. No nonsense and the vacuum caps are DEFINITELY something that would happen to me
Hahaha still looking for them!
You can use hose picks to break the seal on the hose to make it easier to remove 3:00

That is unbelievable haha!! Some people just don’t want to change! Thanks for stopping by!
3rd gens 4th gens and 5th gen 4runners all take Atf for powersteering fluid
I am sorry but I had a good laugh when you dropped the vacuum caps... Thank you for making this video.
Bahaha still makes me laugh. I find them everywhere still.
“Work it back and forth like an argument “❤
❤️
LOL, and I thought I was the only one making a mess every time I change fluids on my truck (oil, coolant, brakes...)
Thanks for the video
Bahaha! It’s a miracle if it isn’t a mess! Thanks for stopping by!
What if I told you there was an even easier way 👀. Great video Dillion!
Would it be creating a vacuum straight into the fluid bottle?! Cause I LOVE IT!
Don't believe him, he will lure you into a pyramid scheme
Another great video definitely need to do this soon
Thank you! It’s well worth it and terribly easy!
@@looseaxles yeah mine looks like tar more then likely 🤣

Nice fix! Honestly speaking, if it still works and you feel safe - sounds like the problems gone haha!

Got mine from a buddy. 2003 in October 2022. I don't have a leak, but my psf looks like molasses. Gonna try this out.
Great video as ways Bro
Work that line back and forth like a Argument Girl 😂😂
I just used Preston power steeling fluid full synthetic for Asian vehicles in my 4th generation 4Runner.
How does it fair in the system? I have always used the Toyota recommended ATF personally!
No
That's the incorrect fluid my man
@@ribstogo12 still running. Ty .

@@looseaxles awesome tha ks for the advice! Keep it up bro. I've used a couple for my 4th gen repairs/upgrades. Excellent quality!
Great video straightforward, no Hey, this is Brian what yall miss and crappy music😂
Hahaha! Too funny. Thanks man!
Also, what fan is that in front? Or is that part of your external trans cooler?
It’s just the GX AC condenser fan! Straight swap into the 4th Gen - I got a full length video on my channel!
Nice bumper
Thanks! I’ve enjoyed it too!
I like how you that "that sucked" when you dropped the vacuum caps. Because vacuum caps are supposed to stop making it suck, literally!
Hahah! I need you to write content for me! Didn’t even notice that.
I love your wheels. What are your wheels?
KMC LOBO 17x9 -38!
How many of those 1L bottles did you use?
Just one for a quick flush!
Also your reservoir cap should be two pieces haha
It came apart at some point in time!
😂 thanks .
You bet!
