Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are finally here! These games have enhanced trainers with some really tough teams, so can I beat a hardcore nuzlocke using only water type Pokemon in the Sinnoh region?!
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. If your Pokemon faints it must be released
2. I can only catch the first Water Type Pokémon on each Route
3. I must nickname my Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items are fine)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4's highest level Pokemon (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

Friendship works and increases by just doing battles, keeping it alive, etc. Just playing the game well increases friendship.

Despite the similar typing and game choice (with the abundance of RUclipsrs doing the same exact run) I agree with you in that this one is unique enough to warrant a watch. Whether it is your style of narration (which I have found to be pleasant, relateable/personable,, and well paced) or the certain luck you had with your encounters (as well as the nice naming theme), or something else entirely, all made for an enjoyable watch and something I do not regret doing. Its admirable in how you did all of this as a new father and still had it come out this good. Much praise and good wishes to you and your family in these festive times. Hey Vivid I just wanted to let you know based on the part of your video with the gastrodon in the friendship mechanic, the friendship mechanic is now combined with happiness, so it goes up just by walking around with your Pokemon in your party. The same way you would raise any Pokemon's happiness normally so leveling them up walking with them healing them etc or the same way it would decrease by giving them like herbs and bitter medicine and stuff like that is all connected

@@DarkDuskGaming According to Bulbapedia, they've changed how friendship works in gen 8.
Basically the normal methods can only raise friendship up to 179. Below 180, it isn't enough to receive the "in battle bonuses".
It doesn't list the BDSP mechanics that push it beyond 179. The SwSh ones are the camp and friendship raising berries so I imagine it's the same case, with following pokemon replacing the pokemon camp.
So I guess Vivid might have used some EV berries and that pushed the mons above 180 friendship.

Oh right, for the QOTD: I guess my favorite drink would depend on the season. For winter, can't be a hot spiced apple cider. For summer, probably a mango lassi. But honestly it's hard to pick, so that answer might be completely different tomorrow! The real answer is, keep hydrating people, there are so many delicious drinks out there

hey just an fyi if you haven't figured it out in the year since this has been out: just battling with your pokemon raises their friendship. so, in a nuzlocke, where you're using ALL your pokemon, they all gain a lot of friendship, and that results in the friendship crits and dodges

I’m someone else has mentioned this, but if you wanna reduce the chances of the friendship mechanic cheezing for you you can feed your Pokémon bitter berries to reduce there friendship.

Such a good run. Also, you don’t ever need to justify why you do runs. I’m doing a mono-Ground run just because Bertha’s such an embarrassment to Ground Types. Also, plain black tea at about 80’C with the bag removed after around 3 seconds is where it’s at.
I'd love to see runs starting with the national dex. Would open up new encounters which would be an interesting change

Personally I find it really nice that the elite 4 is absolutely brutal compared to any other Pokémon game. :-D I actually lost, because I did not plan for any of her mons, and my team was stacked with good mons just not really good against her.
It's really annoying since I have never used X-items before this, but I did not have time to plan, since I had exams to take care of.
And I was 5 levels under level, that did not help. I will do a Ice run once I am done with these exams, that will be June

I don't know what my favorite drink is per say, but I know the worst bottled water brand is Dasani. That stuff just tastes gross every time I drink it, and yes different bottled waters have different tastes. Dasani is the worst of bottled water that I've had. Dasani enjoyers dni.

Going to do a ghost type challenge on Shining Pearl? There's 1 ghost not wild on Diamond and it's Misdreavus, she's wild in the forest with Cheryl at night and it's in the underground in case you miss it in the forest. For a dusk stone on both versions I read the earliest to get 1 is going underground at the beach and go to the big room. There should be 1 on the ground in there, the comment I read said that it's as early as right after Gardenia. I haven't tested it, but I was really happy to find that out cause my Misdreavus was lv 40 and I was mining like crazy trying to find a dusk stone lol

I was playing Pokemon sheild and my gmax Eevee friendship dodged 3 attacks, then got 2 friendship crite, and was brought to one health with an attack. It was my last pokemon and I was out of potions, so I was doomed. It survived 10 hits, surviving the hits, dodging some. It was devastating for Leon, and personally I feel like this smechanic would be good if it needed to be both nurtured and had to have higher standards. You should only get friendship stuff on pokemon you always use, not just the random pokemon you grabbed to train and evolve for the Pokedex. The friendship Mechanic definitely needs a rework, but mostly in how you get it up and keep it up imagine for each battle or day you don't raise your Pokemons friendship, they lose some friendship. Maybe you'd even get your pokemon so bad they'd refuse to listen to you no matter what, then you would be forced to not just use 1 pokemon.

The friendship mechanic screwed me over against Cynthia. 5 of her 6 pokemon were fairly easy to knock out, but the Milotic was too tanky. My only pokemon that had the offensive presence to barely handle it was Ursaring. My Ursaring was guts with facade, and got burned from a Milotic scald. I am one hit away from winning the match, but Ursaring loves me and heals the burn. Not once, not twice, but THREE times in the match! I only won because it was her last pokemon, and I got crunch defense drops. Love hurts.
P.S. Teddiursa is the best pokemon, so maybe I shouldn't have evolved it......
