Can I actually beat a Pokemon hardcore nuzlocke without ever attacking?
Modified Nuzlocke Rules:
1. If a Pokemon faints it is considered dead and cannot be used
2. I'm allowing myself 5 rerolls per route to target Pokemon with decent status moves. No species clause.
3. I must nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (aside from held items)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4's ace (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

As far as I know, increasing the attack stat causes more damage with confusion, that's what Swagger does. Great work tho!
I honestly love the fact that you don't over research. I feel like calculating every potential damage range/move set/natures and abilities for the opponent takes away a lot of the challenge.

2 thoughts on rerolling encounters:
1) Technically you could simply restart the run until you get all the encounters you want.
2) Since you’re playing by such extreme rules, do what you can to make the run enjoyable for yourself.

Just play with species clause! That way you can get what you want but only once and have less Pokemon to fall back on
Okay I know this video is old as heck but this one was soooo good I loved all the funny strats it was so cool to see them used in a nuzlocke. If people hate bc you changed a few rules to make this run possible then they suck. You're great.

When you used the rock smash hm for farming berries, it made me forget how the "shard de berry" jugglers were a thing. I just avoided them because berries weren't interesting to me except for the miltank in the Moo Moo Farm.

All Pokemon mysteriously PP-Upped for Bugsy.
I did not notice this in editing. For what it's worth, I had to recreate the Bugsy fight. My footage got corrupted in Adobe Premiere, so I just genned in the team on a fresh save file and re-recorded the fight several times to get the various moments I need in my script. Good eye, though

When people say that nuzlockes don't start until you get your pokeballs what they really mean is that your encounters don't count for you "one per route" encounters, your run can still end from losing to your rival

Crazy run man. What was your final time for the Johto region? With defense/stall strats, it had to be astronomical compared to normal playthroughs.
I want to say it was ~80 hours. That's obviously using the speed up to get through grinding, but I had about ~26 hours of footage to sift through when I was done, haha

I always view Johto runs as complete upon beating Lance and the post-game involving Kanto and Red is a bonus, not a true part of the run. Still follows the rules of the run, but it doesn't count for the completion of the run.
On Bugys, why didn't you poison the scyther early on? Would have saved a lot of headache.

You got a bit carried away with the background music on this video, I was in the other room with this as background noise and I legitimately thought another window had started playing music because of how distracting it was.
Aside from that great vid for a cool challenge.

Dude substitute is broken, in normal hardcore nuzlockes, where you can guarantee yourself a heracross, and when you are in an emulator where you can save state your way to victory in voltorb flip, or do it legit, you can get the tm for substitute, and swords dance. This is huge because all you have to do is set up a substitute on the clefairy, swords dance once, and now miltank is a guaranteed ohko, so when you kill the clefairy and miltank comes out, press brick break, and if they use stomp, you win, if they use attract then it's not over yet, but extremely easy. You would have to get extremely unlucky to not land a single attack.

Look! I really am trying to enjoy the video really! But, why the fuck does youtuber never shut the fuck up about who not subscribed?! 14:54 "really classy" that's definitely gonna make want to subscribe to you, yeah. It's like you guys ONLY see in numbers, thus SOMEHOW forget their are many people that exist in the world who have never seen a single video of yours until the video of this random person is yelling at them in! I can't tell how many videos this was the case! But, I mean, it should be obvious, there is a lot of youtube channels, some new, people have there own lives- so it should be hard of a thing to figure out, right?!
Then, there is just people who want to see if the person post videos if things they are interested in. I have watched a few videos, really enjoyed them, go check out the person's channel then but, the video I just saw is THE ONLY video on their channel about that stuff!
