Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules:
1) Only Catch The First Pokémon On Each Route
2) If A Pokémon Faints, I Cant Use Them
3) No Items In Battle
4) Set Mode
5) No Over Leveling
6) Must catch the first Pokémon on each route

So there’s a couple of things that I was confused about, when it came to primary typings or just straight up eliminating the type completely, and I’m happy it was cleared up pretty quickly. Solid video, and honestly I love challenge runs like this because they allow you to use abnormal teams, or teams that you generally won’t see in a normal play-through. For me personally, I do not always use my starter on my final team because I like changing it up. As usual love the videos, and can’t wait to see more

Your mamoswine was getting out speed because avalanche has a -4 priority meaning normal priority moves will go first

I've seen other people do this challenge, but the types themselves die, not the pokemon. But I suppose it's the same thing with not being able to have overlapping types. Either way, good job on the run. Sucks about Togepi.

New rule if you lose the lowest bst ( base stat total ) pokemon in your party at anytime you lose. Looking forward to some first type catch lockes keep going!

Maybe do a weaker challenge? You can’t use moves that match the Pokémon’s highest stat. Like if you have a fighting type with an attack higher then it’s special then you can’t use physical moves with it.
You know what, I like that idea. I can’t guarantee I’ll get around to it in any reasonable time, but it’ll certainly go on the list. I’m just imagining an alakazam trying to do any damage with physical attacks

Yep, so caterpie could not evolve to butterfree because I already had a flying type.
For the cake I event, I just used an action replay cheat code

Not quite. In a nuzlocke you can chose to kill that Pokémon and get a different encounter on another route.
For this run, if it’s a wild Pokémon of a type I don’t have, I MUST catch it then and there.

why didnt you evolve caterpi into a metapod for a bit of bulk for pivoting
Good question. I believe it was because caterpie has higher speed and attack. So I figured he would be able to do more damage as a caterpie instead of a metapod. Either way, he was never gonna make it to the end.
How did you get machamp and alakazam in-game without trading? Is it an emulator? Still a great video and awesome run that I wanna try soon
Yeah it is an emulator, just makes it easier to record and I can speed it up. You can use a program called the universal Pokémon randomizer to edit a Rom file. There is a box you can check to allow particularly difficult evolutions, like the trades and letting you get grasseon with a leaf stone

I don't really understand one thing for eg u caught a pidgey a normal/flying type so u can't catch another normal or flying type but what happens when the pidgey dies can u catch a normal or a flying type then mate.

Good question. I did consider allowing my self to reuse a dead type, but decided against it. Their would be too much incentive to kill the pokes I don’t want, and that defeats the purpose if the run.

In any hgss nuzlocke, as soon as you hit goldenrod you basically win bc you can just buy tbolt sd sub flamethrower and ice beam off the bat to carry u on ur strongest mons thru midgame. Kinda broken if you ask me
I agree, and it’s the same basic thing in Hoenn too. This isn’t something I’ve explicitly stated, but in these games I don’t get those TMs until gym 7 or so.
In this run for example, I used lava plume against jasmine, even though I could have gotten flamethrower.
Why didnt you evolve caterpie to metapod to learn sturdy and since metapod is still bug type it can be used

to be paralyzed when facing morty you would have had to face a pokemon that could do that, mareep or magnemite both would have been new encounters on routes you hadnt yet caught a pokemon on, you could have also used oddish but again would have been a new encounter as you say in the ideo it happened before you eolve eevee, then theres the bug catching contest on sunday at the bug catching contest but you said you did this all on the monday
You forgot about trainer battles. On the route west oof ecruteak, you can fight lass Dana with a flaffy (or mareep I can’t remember) who has thunder wave and static. I could have done wild encounters, but I wasn’t ready to get an electric Pokémon yet.
If you used the universal pokemon randomizer to get leafeon isn't there a programm or something floating around on the internet for changing the nickname to muscle?
Also the old rod exists for tentacool(oh wait its because of magikarp high encounter rate)

You’re right about fishing too. I could have used a good or old rod, but I really didn’t want a magicarp as my water encounter, when he couldn’t even evolve.
Flygonhg has managed to change some nickname to traded pokemon in the newer games i think but idk how he did it

6 is just a repeat of rule 1
I’ll admit that rule 1 is somewhat redundant, but I they are distinct. There is a difference between only being able to catch the first Pokémon per route, and being forced to catch them. In this run, if I found a Pokémon that was a viable encounter, I HAD to catch them. I couldn’t run away or anything

So you have to have a ROM for it. If you do, you can use a program called the Universal Pokemon Randomizer to allow trade evolutions without evolving.
What emulator do you use to get heart gold on?
Not saying I use emulators for this, but if I DID it would be DS EMU

How you evolved Kadabra and Machamp? You traded or you used another way to evolve it?
There's a thing called the "universal Pokemon Randomizer" that can edit your ROM save file in such as way, that it allows previosly unallowed evolutions. WIth it, Kadabra and Machoke both evolve at level 37, or something like that.

@@NuzlockeJoe my man, 100%, priority moves is a big mess, for example, in gen 4, quick attack and EXTREME SPEED are in the same priority level, but on the other gens, extreme speed is above for obvious reasons... We gotta update our knowledge of priority moves lol

I used the Universal Pokémon Randomizer, it lets you evolve trade evolution Pokémon at like lvl 37.

I don't get it, how is this any harder than a normal nuzlocke? Not having any repeating typings is one of the first musts if you wanna make the game easier for yourself, not harder??
In a normal nuzlocke, you can catch as many Pokémon as there are routes or areas. In this version, once I catch a type of Pokémon, I can never catch another. Since, for example, I encountered and had to catch a caterpie, even after he died, I couldn’t use any other bugs during the run.

He totally does need to be traded. But you can use a program called the universal Pokémon randomizer that lets you bypass that

Liked the video but thought using in game trades was bending the rules too much. Also you should have been forced to get a random water type instead of catching a miltank for surf. You gotta fully commit to some of the randomness of a nuzlocke!
I mean, I can see where you’re coming from, but I like using Pokémon to their fullest abilities. Like the first videos I did on this channel, I didn’t allow trade evolutions, but it made me depressed being stuck with a machoke. I still had some randomness here though, like that caterpie encounter, and the pidgey too for that matter.

Thats a good question. I know for me, I didn't even realize it was a thing until a someone made a comment about it on my previous SS nuzlocke, so I had to check it out.
I mean you need Celebi to do it, so that’s probably why.

There weren’t any dark types I could get. As far as I’m aware, in Johto there are no pure dark types, so by the time I could have gotten one, the secondary type was already taken

You could have not counted the mandatory tree battle (I have seen people not counting snorlax in Kanto playthroughs aswell) and gotten Tyranitar or gotten umbreon via evee egg because it is the only one.
But nevertheless it is a really good idea.
I will do a playthrough like that myself soon on emerald or platinum.

Yes UPR allows you to turn impossible evolutions into possible ones, like leafeon becoming a stone evolution. However, you stated that you acquired the leaf stone from the pokeathlon when it’s only purchasable once you’ve received the national dex.
I see 3 ways you received it
You used UPR to receive the national dex at the start of the game (and then bought the stone from the pokeathlon dome/was awarded it at the bug catching contest) but didn’t mention it
You were gifted it from backpacker gina
You used PKhex to get the stone but didn’t mention it because of comments like my own
