- In this video I talk to you about a Keurig K Express coffee machine that is not working after descaling it. This can happen from time to time but is a somewhat rare occurrence. With that being said, I tell you a few different solutions that you can try out, and hopefully one of them works for you to get your Keurig K Express machine up and running once again.

Thank you...I descaled, and it was not giving me water and would shut itself off. I took apart the basket and the bottom piece and shoved a pin through both needles and now it finally gave me a 10 oz cup without shutting off...Thanks again

I have a problem while it was descaling my power switch went off now it will not come back on and I don't know how to reset it because when I plug it in nothing happens any advice how to get it to start

This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.

My machine was on, just fine ..making my 10 Oz coffee yesterday and just shut off about 4oz in and hasn't came back on. I've had it since last December. Won't even work when I unplug it. This is the first time its ever done it. Won't turn on period now. If anyone knows something let me know too.

My machine is new-less than 2 months old. It was showing signs of possibly needing descaling or there’s a problem with the machine. The problem was that I was getting a lot of grounds in my coffee. (Name brand coffee I’ve used forever) When I opened to look at the used k cup there was grounds all over the top of it and in that area of the machine. After the 3rd time this happened I thought maybe the needles were stopped up so I purchased a descaler. After using the descaler I removed and rinsed the tank; filled with water, replaced the tank, plugged in the machine and turned it on. The lights quickly blinked off and on 3x and shut off. That’s it. I unplugged it overnight and have tried it numerous times over the last few days and it won’t turn on. It only does the quick blink thing and that’s it. I’ve had several Keurigs in the past and they worked for more than 10 years each. I was always able to descale and clean the needle make them run like new. This one hasn’t run since so I’m back to my backup old faithful Mr Coffee…😥
I think I speak for all of us when you purchase these machines you expect them to work at least 2-3 years. They’re not cheap. I’ve probably purchased at least 5 in the past 7 years. I can’t go without my coffee 😉 This particular one shown I wouldn’t suggest as we’ve went through 2 in the past year. But I’ve had the fancy top model and a couple in between. The one I’m using now 2.0 actually quit on me over a year ago but I hadn’t thrown it away for some reason and I actually cleaned it top to bottom and it started working again. Just thought it needed cleaning because it had been awhile. Now it won’t heat back up. I’ll go through the steps and see if I can get it working again. Already tried the first two. 😡 I may not buy another one. May try a different brand. Getting aggravating
I just lost my third Keurig, immediately after cleaning it with the expensive Keurig brand descaler (which is the only approved method of cleaning, btw). My very first Keurig I bought in 2009. That baby was built to last. I enjoyed it for 9 years, believe it or not. And only cleaned it with vinegar/water solution, even though that was not the recommendation! It finally died, and I gave it a proper burial, lol
My next Keurig was a mother's day gift from my son in law. I didn't even last one full year! And I did use the name brand descaler with it. It died shortly after cleaning it. That's when I started using the mainstays brand. But, about 18 months ago, I bought another Keurig, at a pretty good price in a Black Friday sale. Today, after cleaning it, the lights went out immediately after I went through the proper and recommended product cleaning cycle. I didn't even get the chance to rinse it out. So.....
I recommend going to Walmart, and spend $19.92 on a Mainstays pod coffee maker. My first one lasted over 2 years. My second one I used for a year, then gave it to my sister, and she used it for at least another year. I bought myself another one last fall, and it still works. The only downside is that it doesn't have a large reservoir. You need to add the amount of water you need for your cup of coffee... It has 3 graduated markings for 8-10-12 ounce cups. I bought it to keep on hand in case my latest Keurig puked, like the other one did. After all, I gotta have my coffee, also😊! I'm so glad I did, because I am going to need it in the morning!
I'm done permanently with Keurig brand. Even if buying at a said price, by the time you buy only 1 or 2 descaler kits, you did not get a bargain. So, farewell Keurig, welcome back Mainstays!
Was able to fix it once and it lasted for about a year. Second time didn't have as much luck. Had to disassemble a little bit, prying one side back, to expose where two wires converge onto a thermal switch. It can be reset by shoving in a paperclip into the hole in the center of the switch. Bought me some time but eventually I think something burned up for good during a descaling attempt.
Yes after awhile descaling runs way too hot. Machine shuts down.

Lucky , you get to drink coffee my Keurig K Express coffee brewer died on me this morning. When I put the k cup in the Keurig brewer and pushed the button, the water drop lower in the tank. Then there was a strange smell coming from the Keurig, I thought GREAT!

if i hold down 6 and 10 that will work its not a power issue it just turns off after i turn it on

Keurig coffee makers are troublesome and expensive.Don’t waste your money on it.
I followed the descale process in the book 3 times & light wont go off.

To get the descale light to go off on your keurig k- express do the below
To activate Descale Mode, begin with the coffee maker plugged in and powered off, then press and hold the 6 oz and 10 oz buttons together for 3 seconds. When flashing, press the 8 oz button to start the descaling process. Once the brew is complete, pour the hot liquid into the sink.
This is my model. Works fine. Descaled and can’t get the light to switch off. Tried unplugging, etc. recommended in other videos. Is there a trick to this model?

Hi! Fill the reservoir and Unplug the machine. Press on the 10 and 6 button at the same time, the middle button(8) will start blinking. Place a coffee cup in it's place and press the blinking 8 button, it will start brewing. Continue until it says "fill water"...refill the water and continue until the descale light goes off. I hope this helps. I went through 2 machines with this issue until I did this.

DESCALING PROBLEM may actually be clogged needles:
This is happening to my current Brewer & used to happen to the other one I had as well. Nearly all the time it wasn't so much that it needed to be descaled but instead it's clogged needles.
Many times junk (like pieces of coffee & foil from the tops of the coffee pods) get stuck in the needles.
Lift the brewer top (As if you were getting ready to put a pod in) & take something (I use a toothbrush) & clean out those pointy needles.
You can even take a squirt water bottle & put some water in it, put it on straight/hard spray & hit it w/some water to clean out the debris.

Descaled and lig went off. Liggts started flashing twice then quit.Mine turns on but still not working. Lights are still solid. Soft and hard reset..cleaned needles
I have that same keurig but mine won’t lock closed to brew and it was only used 1 time before. Is there a fix for that?
I have tried everything.. descaled it, held button 8 and 10 for 3 seconds.. removed reservoir and put it back.. its still on
Descaled and it, now it will not work. Every time I try to turn it on, the lights blink twice and shuts off. I fixed it by going to BestBuy and getting a $200 Cuisinart Dual Brew station. Now we can make a Caraf of Coffee or make a single cup of hot or iced Coffee. It also came with its own mini K-Cup Type Refillable and it also takes the K-Cups. I tried everything in the video for the Keurig and even leaving it unplugged over night with the water container removed. Still just get all three lights blinking and it shuts off.
I think I am going to take the Keurig that has stopped working and dismantle it to see if I can figure out what is wrong with it.

Yours still has the three solid lights on. Mine is stuck like that too after descaling.

I tryed everything aswell. I was in the middle of brewing a coffee and it just stopped working then all of a sudden all of the lights were flashing an it won't work unless it's in descale mode. My 2nd keurig that's gone in a year holy are they ever cheap and non reliable smh 🤦
Except I can't even turn it on TO turn it off. Tried unplugging, removed canister, now just waitingto see if time will make it cool off and restart.

Must be taken apart and termo must be rest. Descaling run to hot now on my machine ( did all the taking apart and reset) no more descaling for me on that machine.

I had the same problem! In fact I just scaled 3 times! Still not working. I just read on a user group that often it's not the descaling that is the problem, it is the fact that junk like pieces of coffee and foil from the tops of the coffee pods get stuck in the needles. Open up the top and take something, I'm going to try a toothbrush , and clean out those pointy needles. Let me know if that works. I haven't done it yet on this Brewer, but that always worked on my other 1. I had just forgotten about it. Lol

My K Essentials blinks twice and shuts down. This hasn't happened but once, and that just today. It was in mid brew when it just happened. I'll try the hard reset later but I would like some guidance as to correcting the fault in the system, if it's a blocked needle or whatever else.
Mine dud this in the middle of a brew. Works in descale mode. But just blinks twice when I press power or open or close the cup lid. I had registered it only 3 months old. Called Keurig and waiting to get a replacement. I haven't seen anyone yet addressing this problem or if there's a fix.

Someone has had a little too much coffee.. OMG - This is without a doubt one of the worst videos I have ever seen. Turning the sound off helps, but he needs to take a course on basic camera videoing. I couldn't handle the constant movement. I don't know what he is trying to prove, yelling as well. Horrible
