You're welcome! My mom's unit had this same problem too and it started to smoke. I was pushy enough and it was within the 1 year warranty that they replaced it. I now will not do the descale as mine broke 2 times again since the first video i made. This video was the third time it broke .
My Keurig had the exact same problem after about 7 months. It was dead. Was going to buy a new one but then thought about researching the web for a solution. Found this video and followed the same steps. AND IT FIXED IT. As mentioned, the toughest part was to take out the cover. I used 2 flat screw drivers, one slowly ply it out from the edge. Sometimes it sounded like I broke something, but I continued on. It’s likely some small plastic piece was broken but I was still able to snap the cover back after resetting the unit. It took me about an hour but I was happy that I was able to salvage the coffee maker. If everyone ran into the same problem, then it’s a design flaw. Thank you so much for sharing. It was very helpful.
I followed your video step by step... and it worked!!! I am a 55 year old woman desperate for my Keurig to work in the morning.... and because of you and your video I wont need to call Keurig customer service in the morning.
I'm here to add another success story to the many I see below. My disassembly was slightly different than yours, but once on the inside things looked exactly like your example. Pushed a bent paperclip into that little hole and magically it worked again! I've tried a number of RUclips fixes for various problems - some sort-of work and some don't work at all. This is the first time I tried a RUclips fix and it worked exactly as advertised. Thank you, thank you!
Spot on! Thanks to you I was able to bring my K Supreme Plus back to life and am now enjoying the fruits of my labors. ☕️ I especially appreciate your detailed and easy-to-follow disassembly instructions. Note to others who try this: It's much easier to put the unit back together than it is to take it apart.
Unfortunately, my elation was short-lived. The brewer immediately started malfunctioning in other ways that I cannot fix. Oh, well. Glad of the experience anyway.
YOU’RE A LIFESAVER! I’ve been having a rough few days and just wanted a cup of hot chocolate. I press the temp and oz and attempt to make my hot chocolate. Halfway through heating the water it shuts off and makes weird noises. I unplug, wait a half hour to see if it resets itself. Nothing. No power. Called their customer service and all they did was have me set up an account and give me a 20% discount off a new machine. I was not thrilled and hung up (sorry, lady). So I’m googling and come across this video. So I think, what the heck. I dismantle it and worst case I can’t fix it I return it to Costco (love you, Costco). Luckily, with your help, I was able to reset the internal heater. I did, however, break a little hook back by the water reservoir but it’s inside so you can’t see it and everything sits flush again. I am so happy now! And if it happens again (which I’m hoping it won’t) at least now I know how to fix this one issue. Thank you thank you thank you!
Glad it worked for you! We’ve been using the same once since we fixed it 1.5 years ago. It’s crazy a little reset button hidden inside the machine could save so many units from the dumpster. Kinda crazy the same problem we all had. Seems very recall worthy to me.
@@mazzith 100%! My partner and I just discussed this and came to the same conclusion. If this was a recognized, persistent issue, then (if they had morals) you’d think they’d fix it. Guess it’s easier to hope people don’t realize there’s a relatively easy way to fix it and toss it/buy a new one than address the problem.
Thanks for the demonstration. Save me buying a new machine! Advice to others, when removing cover, work from back to front on both sides, then slide it off the forward (curved) face last.
It worked! Thank you! FYI, this happened to me while descaling. I didn’t pay attention and the water reservoir was empty but I pressed the brew button anyway and then the thermostat tripped. Also, I didn’t remove the entire stainless steel cover completely off. I pried it from the right (opposite the reservoir side) and that gave me just enough room to press the reset button.
I was just about to buy a new one but just so angry that this machine is not even a year old. I’m so glad I saw this video and saved me money. It works again! Thank you so much!!!
I wish I had found out about this back in 2021. I had to wait three months for a warranty replacement after my unit shut down during a descaling operation. I KNEW it had to be something simple like this. Thank you so much for posting this.
Yeah I found another RUclipsr who made a video and explained why it works but it was on the non-Supreme version. So once I figured how to take it apart I made my own to share. We’ve had to fix ours like 2-3 times over last couple years since I made the first shaky video
Thank you for your video. We were just about to toss our Keurig because of this issue. It is working just perfectly now after following your steps / directions. Thank you so much.
Dude, you've gotta be kidding... i was 3 seconds from throwing mine away. My dad and i tore into it and heard the little pop/click when i jammed a toothpick into the white thermostat thing. Plugged it in, hit power and it instantly came back to life! Gold Star for you sir...
No problem man! I am glad I am able to help others because I learned this from another youtube video, his was just on the reg supreme version, so I had to figure out how to take it apart and hoped it fixed the same way and it did! Can't believe how many comments like yours I am getting the last few years.
Thank you so much for the video! I was about to toss my keurig, because it shut off after descaling it, and it didn't want to turn back on! Customer service said it was an "internal" problem and we weren't covered by warranty anymore... This completely fixed my problem!!
Finished descaling and my keurig went dead. Since I'm addicted to coffee like everyone else, this was an emergency. I followed your directions and it worked perfectly! Thank you!
I thought I had killed my K Supreme Plus, however your instructions to reset the thermostat saved me from buying a new one. Thanks. In my attempts to get the Descale indicator light to turn off, I accidentally started a brew without having the water reservoir installed. This tripped the thermostat and the machine would not turn on.
Worked perfectly. Thank you for this video. I have no idea how you figured this out but I never would have been able to fix my coffee maker without this video.
I’ve only had mine for a few months and it just dies. Luckily a quick search of the tubes led me to your video and after about an hour and or so, it has returned to the land of the living, thank you!
Great video. We were going to chuck ours for the same reason but decided to see if I could find advice on RUclips and I found your video! Took me 10 minutes and saved me $200. Thanks sir!
Goodmorning Mazzith, Thankyou sooo much, I was in destress about my Keurig and before I threw her out I said let me look on Utube and see if anybody have a video and lord, you did. I just took her a loose and reset her and wha la..she came on.😊😊
You are so welcome! I wish I was smart enough to figure this out, I watched another video, but it was on a different model. So I took mine apart to see if it was the same and thankfully it was so I recorded the video to help others.
Happy to help! When mine broke I went online to figure it out and saw another video but it was for the regular version. Thankfully it’s the same fix and j was able to make a video to help others.
Thank you! You just saved me $135. Just like others I was getting ready to go on Amazon, or up to Costco for a new machine. I made a cup of coffee this morning with my old coffee maker. Two sips said that I had to go get a new Keurig immediately. Not! The only negative is that I lost a perfectly good paperclip.
Awesome video. Fixed mine. One suggestion for the community. When it's open, take a titanium stepped hole drill bit and make a hole at the level of the reset (through the outside aluminum casing and inside plastic liner). I made mine the size of a nickel. Put it back together and place a refrigerator magnet piece over the hole... next time....just reset from the outside
Thank you so much this was a perfect video! Ours went out of commission, and found your instructional video hit the bulls eye! Thank you again for this!
Perfect!!! The descale was the culprit of the overheating! Performing so many descaling in a row caused the overheating, WTF Keurig??? Terrible descaling instructions and thanks to you my machine is good to go, thanks!!
I’ve returned the first machine because i had that same issue but two years in, after making sure that reservoir is tapped in, i had no problems until today, some how it got pushed out of place when brewing. Thank you for this video, saved me a new machine you are the real mvp 🙌
This was awesome and spot on for my issue. To get the De-Scale light to finally go away, once this was done, I had to go through the descale process. It takes about 10 minutes and 3 mugs. But you press the 8 and 12 oz buttons simultaneously while the power is off. I've noticed lots of people with this problem and don't know the machine has to be plugged in and power has to be off. And you must go through the entire process, or it'll get stuck somehow and the Descale light will never go away. I had 2 issues going on. The one in this video and the one I just described. Oh, I also had to disconnect 2 hoses toward the top that weren't tied with zip ties and tried to suck any water/debree out. I got a mouthful of calcium deposits. Was nasty. But it worked after that. It must've been clogged pretty good and water couldn't get passed all of the deposits.
Thank you! When I descale, this happens. I guess i will have to slow down the process and give it time to cool so I won't have to disassemble each time! First machine went in the trash so your video was awesome and saved me $$$.
Wow! Thanks for this!Even I should be able to do this at my advanced age (grandma) but please add reassembly instructions to your wonderful video for all us totally inexperienced types. 😊
This works! In an attempt to figure out how to stop it from overheating during descaling in the future, I came up with this theory. I've been using a combination of vinegar and water and not the descaling product that Keurig sells. I filled my entire 78 ounce water reservoir up with the 50/50 homemade solution. It overheated half way through. I think it's because the descaling process isn't meant to handle the whole 78 ounces of solution. I noticed that the descaling product that Keurig sells is a 14 ounce bottle and the directions are to add an additional 14 ounces of water to it inside the reservoir. So I'm guessing that the descaling process should only be using 28 ounces of total liquid. Lesson learned!
Thank you so much for this excellent video. I was descaling my Keurig and it must have overheated, power would not come on. This worked great & like someone else said too bad Keurig couldn’t have made a reset button on the outside of the machine! Thanks Again!
Thank was the goal! I had to search RUclips for a fix and found one of a guy explaining why it happened but his tear down was for the non plus version that didn’t help me. Saw no one else had anything posted after I figured it out. Just wanted to give back to the community that has taught me a lot.
You would think that these geniuses would be able to connect a button exteriorly to reset that part inside the keurig conveniently but who’s gonna take the time to pry open their machine. Super easy fix but just very cumbersome to have to pry open just for a reset button.
Man!! Thank YOU Brother!! I couldn't figure it out for the life of me! Its been in a storage/ closet I was about to throw it out. I used to really like this one, I was so close to buying it again but the nonplus version. It was on sale lol. Anyway, much appreciated for real!!
Apparently this is a common problem with at least that model of Keurig. B/F just got ours working by following video; same problem. But ... in our case the wires going into the disabled breaker had been clipped and spliced together, bypassing the breaker altogether. So instead of the tripping the breaker, the overheating melted the wires and one fell away from the splice. The really sweet thing is, we got it "brand new" for Christmas. But instead of new, it was a referb someone else had already returned. Maybe Keurig's repair shop did it, or maybe the previous owner did it. Regardless, this was dangerous. But thanks for the video. Now we can have coffee, and tomorrow I'll go get a new one. Maybe we'll open it up and inspect it first. God Bless everyone. Have a great day.
Thanks for this video. We are on our 2nd machine, kurig sent us a replacement the first time. But when the new 1 cut out after a month, i decided to look up online to see if theres a known problem. So now we have 2 machines working well. Because kurig never wanted the first machine returned to them.. Thanks..
That’s a score! Glad I could help. I did the same thing and found another video from another guy explaining the fix but not the tear down. So figured I’d create that one for people like us.
This totally worked, thank you so much! The hardest part was getting the screws out for me, so I am going to try to not put them back in and see how it goes.
I just brute forced it open, not caring about breaking the plastic tabs and FINALLY got the wrap around off, shook out any broken tabs that might be inside. Then with the innards exposed and as a personal safety check I plugged it in a safe location to make sure it did not spark out or "burn" up. After that check, I used a paper clip to reset the thermostat, plugged it in again and sure enough, it is now working again. Since the "DESCALE" light was on when this happened, I will now descale it with some white vinegar, Though I think what caused the problem was pressing the make coffee button without the water container being in place (it was being filled). I wonder how long this great, money saving fix will last. Thanks for the video.
Great comment. If it makes you feel any better the last time I had to open Fox ours was March 3 of 2022. That was the date I created this video. We’re just more careful about descaling now.
Thanks for the video. This is my second keuring purchase and had the same problem. A machine that costs this much shouldn’t require such maintenance on a consumer level. This will be my last keurig.
During the descale cycle doing the rinse, the add water never came on and the pump kept running on mine. Thats when it tripped the temp sensor. This procedure got it working again. Thanks!
I was on the cusp of re-enacting the scene from “Office Space” when they destroy the copy machine. But! I decided to take the damn thing apart as this video instructed. Might be the last time I deal with descaling it.
Thanks very much - worked great. My advice is to have good lighting (and magnification if you're of a certain age like me). Additionally, if a clip seems stuck, take a look and see if a well placed push in one direction or another with a thin small screwdriver will release it - it worked for me at two points.
You are a god damn miracle maker! I tried somebody else's video and that was absolutely useless. They just said "do this, do that, this'll happen" without actually explaining what to do. I was positive my coffee maker was broken. Fucking thank you.
You’re welcome! I’m kinda glad to see I was not the only one with this issue. It’s sad that they have this poor design. I bought my mother one and her machine did the same thing.
Thanks for this video. I almost tossed my Keurig because of this problem. Keurig customer service was useless. It now works great again.
You're welcome! My mom's unit had this same problem too and it started to smoke. I was pushy enough and it was within the 1 year warranty that they replaced it. I now will not do the descale as mine broke 2 times again since the first video i made. This video was the third time it broke .
They’re still useless, by the way. Tried going through them to fix it but kept getting forwarded around.
This is a great design EXCEPT for this thermal fuse. It should be easier to access. Duh.
Same! What a stupid design hey?
They are useless because they want you to buy a new machine instead of fixing the one you have, more money for them!
My Keurig had the exact same problem after about 7 months. It was dead. Was going to buy a new one but then thought about researching the web for a solution.

Just reverse the process. The sides just snaps into place and screws in the bottom.
Great video. I cut a hole in the side of the unit so I can reset that thermostat without disassembling anything.
I like that idea. When I fix mine I will do the same

If you don't mind a hole, drill a small access hole on the side cover?
Thank you very much! Got it fixed and working in less than 30 mins. You made me look like I knew what I was doing. Thanks!
Worked like a charm! Great video. Have to wonder why they make these thing so hard to take apart.
I fixed it thanks to your great video! ❤

Welp, I’m back. I took it apart and hit the button both times and I got nothing. Thank you for the video. I am glad it worked for some people.
Way better than the other videos out about this problem... thank youbsir
Thank ya! Won BIG points with the wifey by fixing the coffee maker this morning!
Thanks, got it fixed after watching your video.
During the descale cycle doing the rinse, the add water never came on and the pump kept running on mine. Thats when it tripped the temp sensor. This procedure got it working again. Thanks!
Great video, I fixed it following the steps on your video in 5 minutes.
Thank you so much
Wow great video cover came off super easy !! Saved me money , I was getting ready to go out and buy another one.
This video was so helpful. I was thinking I had to replace my Keurig. Thank you!!
Your video was very helpful. And your "hack" worked! It saved me buying a new machine!!! Thanks!!
Great video! Took me 5 minutes and fixed!! Thank you
Great video bro! Why can't they make it easier. There is no way most people could do this. Hope I can get it back together. Haha!
God bless you! It worked like a charm. And I did this without having had my morning coffee.
another office coffee machine saved by youtube! Thank you
I was on the cusp of re-enacting the scene from “Office Space” when they destroy the copy machine.
But! I decided to take the damn thing apart as this video instructed.
Might be the last time I deal with descaling it.
Followed instructions and it worked perfectly! Thank you
Awesome guide, worked like a charm!
OMG.... you are a rock star. was able to save mine. It's back to life!!!!! THX!
Thanks very much - worked great. My advice is to have good lighting (and magnification if you're of a certain age like me). Additionally, if a clip seems stuck, take a look and see if a well placed push in one direction or another with a thin small screwdriver will release it - it worked for me at two points.
Ok
Excellent video, thank you. I fixed mine using this method in about 30-45 minutes!
Thanks! It worked! Pain in the a** taking the panels off, but better than having to buy a new one. 👍
Thanks for the info! Done in less than an hour!
Thanks man! Your video saved me 200 bucks.
You’re welcome! Glad it’s able to save others money. I had to look up videos how to do this but no one had the tear down video.
Thanks for the video it was the best one for my problem and worked perfectly. Appreciate your time and tutorial.
You are a god damn miracle maker! I tried somebody else's video and that was absolutely useless. They just said "do this, do that, this'll happen" without actually explaining what to do.
I was positive my coffee maker was broken. Fucking thank you.
Glad I could help! I’m good at finding the info from others. I did not know how to do this without watching RUclips myself. Just wanted to give back.
Hey man, thank you for the video. Now I can continue descaling for the next 2 hours. Great video and explanation 🙌🏼❤️
Just watched your video and fixed mine today. Thanks bud!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS VIDEO. IT REALLY HELPED! I HAD TO DO IT WITH MY KEURIG AFTER DESCALING TOO.
You’re welcome! I’m kinda glad to see I was not the only one with this issue. It’s sad that they have this poor design. I bought my mother one and her machine did the same thing.
Thanks for your concise tutorial!
Thanks for the video!!!
I can’t do without coffee!!
Thank you very much for your spot on tutorial, worked like a charm.
OMG this video was so helpful!!! We were able to fix it. Thank you :)
Followed you video and it worked like a charm. It was a big save - $200 to replace in Canada. Thanks.
So simple once someone points it out! Thank you very much! I fixed it with a paper clip! i feel like MacGyver!
