- Frightened Rabbit perform a cover of The Waterboys hit record "The Whole of the Moon" on the BBC Scotland Hogmanay Show 2012.
Ripped from Panasonic Freeview+ HDD/DVD-R
“Frightened Rabbit's is a terrific version of the song, and Scott's vocal is full of emotion and truth. I can see the wee boy he once was in his face as he sings. Travel on well, son, you were beautiful.”
Mike Scott
Lorrico14 such beautiful words, every time I listen to this I always read this comment, you can see the wee boy when he sings! You are truly missed Scott! Your words and way of performing makes me feel something like I'm not alone, there's always hope. I hope you have found the peace you were looking for!
Jamie Strachan They are. Mike Scott just captured Scott beautifully. I’m a huge Waterboys fan & this is the best cover I’ve heard of this song. I’m only sorry he was in such pain.
Lorrico14 me too.
@@thesensitivesouls I feel this
A wonderful version of an amazing song; I'm so sorry I forgot how much I loved it when it was an original but listening to it, and the covers, I want to learn to play the guitar just so I can play this song competently. This version is one of the covers that drives me to want to sing my version of these beautiful lyrics. Thank you.
I listen to this every Hogmany, and every time it makes me cry. I hope Scott has found peace.
What’s Hogmany? I love this song so much. I wish i could have met him
@@manofhonor1685means the last day of the old year. there’s a big celebration n that made about it each year.
2023: still miss him and the music he didn’t make. Still struggle with the same thing that took him. A tough fight. But I hope he’s at peace.
You're not alone . Keep on keeping on we'll get there 👍
Hope your OK today ..
One year I'll watch this and not cry endlessly.
2019 isn't that year.

Such a sad loss
I hear ya ♡
2020 isn't either. 2021 onwards will likely not be either.
@@jameskirk48sp I really loved him
The loss of Scott Hutchison remains difficult to fathom. We are only human beings down here and this is a tough planet. It is a tough planet and don't let anyone tell you different.
Six years without Scott. In 2016 I saw him at a gig in Berlin. He apologized for not being able to put on a proper shirt because someone parked their car outside the club and blocked the door of the tour bus. I hug you for that, Scott. Rest in peace.
2020 update: crying more than I was this time last year. Happy 2021 everyone.
Happy new year pal ❤️
2020 definitely wasn't the year rip
Happy New Year, always come back to this at this time of year... RIP
2021 update: crying more than I was this time last year. Fingers crossed for a better year next year for everyone!
2022 update, still hurts. Happy new year folks
One of the biggest regrets in my life not getting to see Scott and the Rabbit boys playing live..Sleep easy my Scottish brother..🏴 one love✌️
Same internet stranger, same
I think this exact thought at least once a day.
One of the biggest regrets that I have is going to the 2000 Trees Festival the one year when they were headlining and not paying them enough attention or giving them enough appreciation.
One of mine is not going to see them for an 8th time, never too much.
Greetings from California. I just discovered them 3 months ago and have listened to their songs every single day since finding them. I tell everyone I know to listen to them. I was shattered to hear Scott is no longer with us. I wish I could have seen them live, I am grateful to RUclips & all of you for posting their music. I cry at his songs because they are so raw, truthful and tragically beautiful. I love finding new songs from them. This cover is amazing! Thank you for sharing with us.
Come gather in my lungs, Scottish wind
Belt out your blackest poems
As the sea around you sings
When that drone takes to the air
A single note to raise my hair
Carry songs beyond my lungs cold, Scottish wind
This raises my hair every Hogmanay. Miss you Scott.
He just made everything feel real. Feel like it had something. He had a gift beyond many of his peers.
The best cover of this ever
Fuck sake this song actually had me in tears. 1 year since my pal took his life and was not much younger than Scott. 😥 even though they look and act fine you don't know what's going on in their head. RIP Lee and Scott
They are just a great band. I'm so glad I have discovered them. It's a shame it was only this year.
Scott would have loved the irony of it.
Watched over and over, while struggling with a lump in my throat. Beautiful, 💔
eric ervin I feel you.
Same here.
Classic cover RIP scott 🙁
Every New Years I watch this.. RIP Scott❤️
you saw the whole of the moon Scott! x
Wasn’t expecting to see a comment from an actual musician on here! Love your work, Callum. Great watching your ascent.
i love your music
Please never delete these videos. They complete my taking in of the new year.
Heartbreak feels like Frightened Rabbit...it's virtually all I listen to. I'm a 50 year old man still feeling like a heart broken teenager and aching to swim until I can't see land. Goodbye cruel world x
How random this world can be that leads one person to another. Even though I'm finally over the heartbreak of my last relationship, I can still feel the pain listening to Frightened Rabbit. Their music touches me more deeply than any band has before. I'm sorry if you're going through a hard time, but please don't give up. It does get better. I went through over 15 years of depression, had suicidal thoughts, took a really dark path in life. Sometimes things would get better, but I'd always end up thinking "it always comes back to this, maybe I should just kill myself" Eventually I knew I needed help & got it. Now I'm happier than I've ever been.
Just wanted you to know that someone is always listening & cares. Ill say a prayer for you.
You know, Scott's passing still makes me cry. he touched so many people & through that he lives on in us. Please don't give up. Life is precious even when it doesn't seem it.
Ready to toast the New Year and raise one to Scott once more. He left us everlasting beauty in the music.
Mike Scott has been among my favorite artists since I dropped the needle on A Pagan Place in 1985. Scott Hutchison is my favorite for the last 12 years, since I pressed play on Midnight Organ Fight in 2008. This is a dream come true. RIP Scott. Thanks for the music.
discovered this on my birthday and now I'm crying
I cried like nonstop when I first started listening to Frabbit. Only started listening to them this year and now they're one of my all time favorite bands
Listening as we enter 2022. Happy New Year everyone 🍺
I am at a point in my life where I am watching this daily. It swells my heart 🥲 in the best way
Absolute legend this man was!! Look over and think of him every time I cross the road bridge. Never forget how frightened rabbits music has got me through many a time xx
Please never delete these videos. They complete my taking in of the new year.
Watched over and over, while struggling with a lump in my throat. Beautiful, 💔
I miss you so much, Scott. I hope if some intangible part of you is still adrift out there, maybe it will bring at least an iota of peace to know how much your life and music has gotten others through the same struggle.
miss you scott. i revisit this all the time to hear you.
Brilliant version, fly high kid.
Honestly Was not a massive follower of frightened rabbit wish I was....glad I found them .... but had a few songs on various playlists ... gutted for Scott's nearest and dearest ... seen a friend of mines family with same scenario, the after the fact action for the family was, is and forever will be a day to day
manage, can't blame a soul for letting go, but the turmoil they feel doesn't end with them ... it's carried on .
Anyone reading .... It gets better x ✌👍👌
I listen to this so often, what a rendition. Class act, so sad
It's kinda like Johnny Cash's cover of hurt in that it kinda overtook the original rendition. Imo anyway
I love the upbeat kinda happy way he says “you came just like a comet!”
We're all still missing you Scott! I'm sure more than you would ever know. Rest peacefully x
Rest in peace lad, beautiful rendition dude x
One of my favourite songs and possibly my favourite version.
Hello just found out this band ❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😢😢 1:29
Chasing shadows never brought anybody back into the light
It was fun while it lasted though. Thanks for the memories.
First time listening to the rabbit for a couple of years. Been too painful to come back. This is truly beautiful.
I just found this song and have listened to it at least 15 times a day lol.. help
A great talent your voice will live on forever xx RIP XX
Back here again, what a terrific cover! What a terrific human being! Miss your music Scott
The wonderful Frightened Rabbit, amazing and emotional version, I am so glad I can watch and hear this again and again. The way Scott expressed this was truly special, I wish he was still with us, great guy!
Absolutely, incredibly beautiful. Scott’s voice fits this perfectly, especially with that backing.
You’ll be missed more than you would ever have known.
happy new year everyone
thank you for putting so much of my life to poetry. you were with me through some of the most important parts of my life. RIP brother.
I stumbled on this by chance. With the aid of Google I found out that Scott passed away last May. It truly is beautiful to see all the love shared on here. My heart goes out to Scott's friends and family, RIP bud, hope you're now at peace
What an incredible performance by an incredible guy.
so thankful that RUclips has helped preserve and share the music (and interviews) of this sweet soul. Scott's spirit lives on.
What a great version of this song, absolutely love it. World is a sadder place without him xx
What a wonderful cover... and what a beautiful man. God bless. You are much missed.
Happy Hogmanay 2021/22 ❤️
Mike Scott tweeted about this video. I think that's a good an endorsement as this can possibly get :)
I come in here regularly during what has been a time of heartbreak to take solace in this performance. 36 people only saw the crescent....
Nailed that. Such an immense talent.
This is such a wonderfull version, so beautifully sung and performed. This song I listen too each day, brings me so much joy and happiness. People out there going through tough times, always remember that you will be missed and by many it will be.

I wish so much I could have helped you, Scott, somehow. I hope you found the peace you were looking for.
This performance will always come out at hogmanay, it IS hogmanay.
So, so good! Played it 5 times in a row lol
Our wedding song directly because of this. Been on the drink with John McCusker kinda he was at a stag do, he's comfortably the best ever shared space with as a watcher (long long long long way).
Still love this performance for new years
This is my first time hearing this band, are all their songs this good? Im in love
Definitely
Yes mate. Their songs are grounded in realism with sprinklings of hope. I’d start with The Midnight Organ Fight and work your way from there.
Yes :)
They are this good, but this isn't their song. Not originally anyway, but they certainly made it their own
Yes. As a starter I would say check out Head Rolls Off and The Modern Leper; if you aren’t sold on them after those two songs then there’s no hope for you. But I know you will be 🤝🏻
I’m back here for another year
@ Montréal 🇨🇦: BLiSS...merci beaucoup !👌❤️
My heart is breaking…🙏🏻❤️🇦🇺
Theres a girl I love in Scotland. Always loved her, I recently got divorced and reached out to her. Feelings just never went away. Shes with someone else though. She told me to save her. I dont know whats stopping me. I wanna go there and be with her. I love Scotland and I’ve never been there I love the voice and the way you guys talk and the music is amazing.
Ailsa Jane Maxwell Watson most beautiful girl in the world

Beautiful cover!
Such a sad loss to music! R.I.P!
its indie rock and roll for me.

Everything this man/band did was just magnificent. I'm just really pissed off that there isn't going to be anything more.
