I don't know why but this song just won't let me go. It's in my head. In my heart. I cannot understand how do you move on from love, how do you even start to do that. How do you cope with losing "us" and becoming just "me" when all you wish for is one more time together, one more chance, a silly joke, or a lazy sunday afternoon in bed together planning that amazing future that will never happen. Heartbreaking, really. But damn - Ben sings about it so beautifully that you almost want your heart to be broken just to relate to this masterpiece. Thank you Ben for being you and doing what you do.
You don't move on, because the love is never gone. Those moments really did happen, and they are still as real as they were then. Don't grieve the future that didn't happen. I swear I come back to this every few months and get goosebumps every time he starts yelling into the body of his guitar. So much passion and energy in this performance. Beautiful.
Ive played alot around with alternative tunings in band settings and such, and ive listened to alot of artist like bon iver who are concireded masters at the craft. But never, NEVER, have i seen and heard someone push music to the limit like this. Abselotely breathtaking and a complete masterpiece. This is the stuff that should go down in the historybooks, not half-assed drake albums and 100 mumblerappers mumbling over over the same exact backingtrack. I salute you Ben.
Your comment made a thought cross my mind. Maybe that someone wasn't so special after all. Maybe that person was just the mirror to the lovers own soul. Nothing was lost, because it came from, and has always been, you.
I come back to this video a few times a year, and it moves me everytime. Literally tears in the eyes. A masterful performance from all the musicians involved, you can feel the emotion from all of them. Masterpiece.............
The two halves of this song are like two parts of a person's emotional termoil. Knowing that something is over and the sadness that it brings vs the anger of rejection and guilt. I love Ben Howard and his band, every song takes me on an emotional journey. The passion that is put into the music translates perfectly every single time it's played and is only conveyed tenfold live. Goosebumps
I’ve listened to this song before sleeping every night for almost a year. Thankyou for the therapy. I’m still healing, but in hearing this, i feel something.
i remember sitting on my sofa late on a friday night reading a book relaxing before bed, then this came on, the middle made me stop, literally drop my book and Ive been in love with his music ever since.... i still get chills listening to him yelling into his guitar
Just curious, but what is the point in these comments about "who's watching in 2021"? If it gets a response within this year then presumably yes. But as I'm sure is the case for many others, as well as myself - yes, I am obviously watching it now (which is 2021) but have been listening to this song for the last year or 2.
@@MojoTojo2000 it's to see who is still watching and appreciating such a good artist that is not as popular any more. It's about appreciating the other followers of the artist, like a Ben Howard family.

This is what makes life worth living.... suddenly stumbling upon unbelievable mastery that combines emotion and melody in a blend that is precisely perfect..... I am happy and moved in equal measure
Love listening to this, just amazing song, the tone of his guitar with the delay and reverb is just perfect, he doesn’t make it easy either running a bass line and capo on the other strings with an acoustic with no cut out to make the most of the echo with the vocals singing into the sound hole 🫣 doesn’t miss a beat and so emotional, incredible guitarist and singer, putting all that together and staying in the groove, mind boggling and beautiful 🤩

Why are we limited to just one ‘like’ on this performance, it just doesn’t do it justice. This is musicianship on another level. Brilliant
I salute you Ben.
then you havnt heard John Martyn then
True!
@@flossie266 big Influence of Bens music
"concireded" what does that mean? or what did you mean?

This man knows what it’s like to lose that special person, what a masterpiece.
Your comment made a thought cross my mind.
Maybe that someone wasn't so special after all.
Maybe that person was just the mirror to the lovers own soul.
Nothing was lost, because it came from, and has always been, you.
@@FrainFreeze Hey I just came across this comment and thats so beautiful it made me cry, thank you.

@@FrainFreeze in need of that kind of perspective at the moment. Thank you
I've never heard so much emotion, so much desperation and so much love in one song....
Saw him live last Friday. He opened with this... life changing performance.
almost cried when he screamed in that guitar.. so much feeling!
Probably the greatest live performance ever. Words can’t really do this justice
Listening to this again after a few years just brings joyful tears to my eyes A Saluti love, this guys voice
9 years on and I’m still struggling to find a performance this stunning. Tugging at my heart strings almost a decade later.
Goosebumps
I know this man for many years now, heard his songs a thousend times, and I still got the shivers....
RJ Mobiel it’s like falling in Love forever 💖
I’ve listened to this song before sleeping every night for almost a year. Thankyou for the therapy. I’m still healing, but in hearing this, i feel something.
It’s almost like the crowd paused before the applause in awe of what they have just witnessed! Incredible performance
i remember sitting on my sofa late on a friday night reading a book relaxing before bed, then this came on, the middle made me stop, literally drop my book and Ive been in love with his music ever since.... i still get chills listening to him yelling into his guitar
I come here every now and then.. to listen to End of the Affair.. and to cry my heart out..
This has to be one of the greatest songs of all time.
outstanding performance, it blows me away every time I come back to it. Soooooooo wished I was in the room for this.
Love the delayed reaction from the crowd after the song.. Needing a moment to land back on earth
Being 9.9/10ths metal head, this performance blows me away. Fucking amazing. Voice, musicianship, everything.
Watched this many times, stunning, he meant it. One of the best live performances I’ve watched.
Anyone else watching this master at his craft in 2021?
no
Yep👊
Just curious, but what is the point in these comments about "who's watching in 2021"? If it gets a response within this year then presumably yes. But as I'm sure is the case for many others, as well as myself - yes, I am obviously watching it now (which is 2021) but have been listening to this song for the last year or 2.
@@MojoTojo2000 it's to see who is still watching and appreciating such a good artist that is not as popular any more. It's about appreciating the other followers of the artist, like a Ben Howard family.
Its just an easy way for them to get likes
When he screams inside of his guitar! Incredible moment. Great artist
magnificent
I love how he screams into his guitar pickup... Amazing, amazing song.
Have this saved as my all time fav Jools performance. The singing into the guitar... never seen it. Original but perfect for the moment in the song. Class!
Stunning song and performance. This guy knows what he's doing.
Still keep coming back to this…… & it still hits me like its the first time I’ve ever heard it. When he sings in to the guitar…..oh my. Next level. Legend
@Nicky hello, how are you doing it is nice meeting you here.
one of the most touching live performance i've ever seen, it sounds so true, feels like perceiving things you cannot speak out in another way, thank you
This is what makes life worth living.... suddenly stumbling upon unbelievable mastery that combines emotion and melody in a blend that is precisely perfect..... I am happy and moved in equal measure
Such a song can be written only by somebody whose love gone bad... And I can truly understand his passion...
The whole band hit next level genius with this staggeringly beautiful live performance.
I have never been more ‘in awe’ over a single human being’s performance. This beautiful man captivated my entire soul for over 7 minutes straight.
Ashamed to say I have just watched this for the first time ! WOW what a track, what a performance. This is going on my top playlist. Incredible.
And yet you still beat me by a month! Agreed, wow! What a find!
It’s incredible. Kind of intensity you don’t get in much music. Especially now now!
Congrats - your life has officially changed!
This has been recommended to me for years now but I only took the time to listen to it last month. What moves me almost as much as the music are the comments.
I literally listen to this song every day of my life...
Many songs for you to find 😅
Stumbled across this a couple of days ago and can't stop listening to it.Must admit I'd never heard of Ben before and regardless of what he has done previously or what he might do in the future,I don't care what anyone says this is a masterpiece a true work of art that touches your soul in a way that all music should.Incredible!!!
@Lorraine hello, how are you doing it is nice meeting you here.
Simply a masterpiece of a performance. I've watched some great performances on the show over the years but none to rival this.
let's hope he brings this intensity with him for the 10 years of "I forget where we were"-tour this year
Can't see it tbh but have everything crossed he can pull it off 🙏
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this performance... mesmerising
I never usually comment, but this has to be in the top few Jools Holland performances of all time. Absolutely incredible.
There's hardly anything as captivating as a passionate artist performing live.
Passion, emotion, perfection.. you can feel their hard work in every note.
I’m going to see him in concert next month by myself I don’t want anyone there to distract me, it’s gonna be one of the best moments of my life.❤
Can i go with u.
Same here!!!!! This week
I did this too. Although people were speaking behind me so I had to move multiple times. He needs to be heard in complete silence
Me too!!
whereeeee
Seen him live and this was by far his best performance. He literally has a voice of an angel and an amazing talent
@Charlotte hello, how are you doing it is nice meeting you here.
