Ben Howard's album "Every Kingdom" has impacted my life more than any other album in history. Seriously. I don't know how to articulate in words how important each song on that album is to me and my family. We have often said if we could only listen to one album for the rest of our lives, it would be "Every Kingdom". I have written a novel within its chords, raised my children within its beat, taken it on countless drives up and down the Oregon Coast. For years, it has been the one album that has comforted and enlightened my mind. I think each song is genius, and unique, and soothing. I could never pick a favorite. I only wish Ben Howard knew how much his album has impacted me. It is so rare when music takes on more of a spiritual identity, rather than being something to pass the time. Thank you Ben for changing and enriching my life with your gift. Thank you for "Every Kingdom".
You, my dear, are a beautiful soul. We are all simply, fundamentally a singular, infinite, quantum entanglement of energy that is not bound by time or space. In these vessels of matter, we mistake ourselves for individuals... but we are still always connected through subatomic energy to the collective conciousness... which, when combined with the governing forces nature, is God. We are manipulated by fear into believing that in order to connect effectively with others, we must first meet certain criteria and standards set forth by socio-cultural and religious institutions. But we dont, never have.... all we have to do is love ourselves and be loved in return. Forgive and be forgiven. Own our shit and love all of it, no matter how stanky..... we are all perfect in every way..... thank you, for allowing yourself to connect with the word of our collective body through music. This is why you feel so strongly for that album.... investigate your mystery.... you'll find answers yo uh never knew you needed. Before we fell and took on these materialistic forms, we were all one united body, containing countless souls and personifications. Each of us were made up of 2 parts, 2 halves to our 1 sub-soul. Lol 1 masculine and 1 feminine. Each with polar opposite traits that ensured a perfect balance of powers. These 2 governing powers perpetually sustained our eternally blissful existence. The "kinetic core" or OUR shared heart tied us together and instantaneously communicated all thoughts, wills, desires, and feelings between the 2 soul "mates". This was a flawless method of communication, in the form of frequencies and rhythms, strung together in a melodic design essential to the harmonious nature of life. Music, art, and literature are the only comparable forms of communication that even remotely begin to express the forgotten love, passion, and truth that we all long for, yet never truly find. It's rare today to see someone so motivated and influenced by these fundamental frequencies and actually embrace them. Most try to dull them at every interval with medication and denial, purely out of fear. If the rest of humanity could follow your lead, conciously utilizing music and love to help raise thier children and narrate thier lifes story, then we could truly experience heaven on earth... Arcadia, in Every Kingdom. I love you, and I mean that. Please, please, please.... love yourself and keep up the great work.
Thank you for this beautiful articulation. I've often felt Ben's music on a deep spiritual level too. I find myself coming back to it any time I'm lost, confused, scared, or just unsure of myself. It helps ground me and refocus my energy. He's a thought provoking and pensive artist.
@@rebeccazibahair7028 I actually found my twin flame in 8th grade. We have been together ever since and are in our late thirties now. Still I feel deeply emotional when I come back to this song. I really cannot express how much I love this "radio" version of this song. Ben is totally number one, but what really rips me to pieces are India's vocals and percussions: she's so gentle and careful, never a fraction to invasive over Ben's music and her voice...well that's pure bliss! Really amazing, These 3 together are actually something quite extraordinary
+Catcher2412 Indeed, you are very right. They seem so concentrated though relaxed....playing with the music, experimenting and turning it into pure magic....it is mesmerising!
This is utter and complete magic. So ethereal; so multi-layered and soulful. One of the most beautiful songs I've ever had the privilege to hear. Howard's music is a triumph of spirit and intelligence.
Very well said Sir. I'm a new fan of Ben's music, I happen to be flipping channels on t.v., saw him playing on Later with Jools Holland and stopped in my tracks to listen. Some people just have a surreal quality to their voice and their music just touches your soul when you hear it. I'm happy I got a chance to see him play live.
I understand that people have their own preferences but how can anyone dislike this? I think it is one of the best songs/performances I have ever watched.
His music affects you in a different way. It doesn't make you feel like running away or something, but draws you into another world. It is like a whole new genre, so hard to explain. He's a genius!!!!!1
I can’t believe Ben Howard, been around for years yet I have just found this now. I suffer a lot from anxiety, it’s tiring, especially with a demanding full time job...I have ups and downs, when anxiety hits, I try to ground myself, by looking at and studying objects, however, during lockdown it’s been worse. Stumbling across Ben Howard, has completely grounded my anxiety and puts me in to a different head space...for the good. I can not believe how music can change, shape and alter your feelings. Thank you Ben, your music, although around for years, has helped me to curb my anxiety over recent weeks. To everyone else, try and keep positive through music and it’s powerful effects.
I completely agree with this. Oddly enough, Small Things from "I Forget Where We Were" is the closest thing I can describe to the way it feels to build up to an anxiety attack. The way the song just swells until it can't grow anymore.
I have just discovered this song. And I think it may have saved my marriage. I love this song so much and it makes me remember why I fell in love with my wife. Thank you I love her so much x
Just found this Beautiful song couple days ago…& after struggling for a couple years of not knowing my true self-worth, finding the man that I am today is due to great songs like this to pull me through the fire & make it to another day.
Everytime this song (this version especially) plays in my iPod I imagine myself laying down on a beach at night looking at the stars.. This guy's a genius
Koen Van Tolhuysen Koen Van Tolhuysen i can’t ever listen to that song without shedding a tear. I came across Ben Howard’s works during a quintessential trying time. I honestly believe Ben Howard is the greatest song writer/artist in the world today. His arrangements and song structures are incredible, beautiful and mesmerising. He's unique, a true musical genius

@Keelan Smyth he's a great performer, so seeing him live is so worth it - won't hear but maybe a couple of his older stuff so have to lower your expectations, unfortunately. I hope he makes it back to the States.
I firmly believe that this is the greatest performance of any song, tt is utterly beautiful. Each time I listen to it I feel as though I not only hear it, but live it. You can't help but be engrossed in it, and it is lovely to see that Ben is completely lost in the music as well with the way he seems to almost wake up from it at the end.

*And this tree of ours may grow tall in the woods* *But it's the roots that will bind us here* *To the ground* This guy speaks to my soul. Ben you're amazing Keep doing what you're doing best. I love you.
This sound and his tone make me realize how fragile we all are. We pretend to be strong but often deep inside everyone of us is carrying the pain and hurt with him. Some we still remember, but some we don‘t as we were too young to remember. I believe the world would be a better place if people realized that greed and egoism are emotions led by the pain, hurt and anxiety burried deep down inside of them. A force trying to avoid that we have to experience this hurt and pain ever again.
Got a slight man crush... Every one of his songs just gets better the more you listen! the complete opposite to any other artist. Went to see him a few years ago and finally got to see him again this year; both times, just goose-bumped from head to toe for a few hours. Thanks Ben Howard (& co) for doin' what you do!
My dear person Richard sent me this song once and since that time it is in my favourite list . There is often a distance between people but we can be close to each other in our hearts. Depth of the feelings is important. Thx , Richard and thx to Ben for this great melody 🎵
And this dear Richard will always love you, and the memories we created with each other. You're a truly wonderful person, and I'm so happy to have met with you in Turkey this summer ❤ Love you always my dearest Natasha...
@@dickie9502 and this dearest Richard has just disappeared somewhere without any explanation. Just let him know I deeply miss him and he will always be my part .
I've been listening to this song for over a decade and it still hits as hard as it does from the first time I listened to it. Probably even harder. Ben is a magician, not just an artist.
To my husband, I miss you so very very much. Our depth is what has grown our tree that will live old and weather many storms and keeps our love protected always....❤️
I still listen to Ben everyday. I am a painter and decorator and people will here me play his songs everyday without a doubt, i am 27 and been listening to him since i was around 19/20. He cures both any depression i have and also lets my imagination go wild, sometimes his songs make me think of cosy winter days or quiet rainy days and sometimes they make me think of the warm sun touching my skin. This guy is a genius
My best friend just sent this to me and she lives on the other side of the planet. She's the most beautiful and thoughtful person I've ever known, and it's such an honor that she cares about me enough to try to make our friendship just as meaningful over such an impassable physical divide as it was when we were both living in the same city. This is my Shout out to her. I won't use names for the sake of privacy. But if she reads this she will know that it's for her 🖤
watching this video and thinking/questioning/contemplating out loud: Do I feel worthy of receiving a partner? Do I feel worthy of being seen, loved, respected, desired? Do I love, see, respect and desire myself? What is my belief system about men? About women? How are men in my world? How do I perceive them? How about women? What is my belief system about myself? How do I carry myself in this world? How do I perceive myself? What have my parents taught me about relationships? What stories have I adopted as my own, about relationships?
I bawled like a baby when I first heard this. It's absolutely breathtaking. Then I watched the video and fell in love with Ben. Good Lord. He's talented and gorgeous!
My home for one is becoming a home for two tomorrow. I'll be playing this as I welcome my beloved home. This song is gonna be with us for the rest of our lives. Thank you Ben.
Ben Howard has the gift of pushing you to a place of emotion, nostalgia, and depth you cant reach without music. Whatever he intends his songs to mean, he keeps it open-ended enough we can all use them in our disconnected lives.
I had a friend who recommended me this song. He killed himself. I sometimes think about him. How the world is such a strange place. And how there is just one end are we are running, collecting things for nothing. I am happy he doesn't have to suffer anymore.
I´m sorry to hear about your friend. But I find beauty in you writing this comment on youtube to this song. The world is a strange place. It´s beautiful how the arts can touch us and keep people that we cared for alive even when they are not physically with us anymore. Have a good one xx
Depth over distance every time, my dear And this tree of ours may grow tall in the woods But it's the roots that will bind us here To the ground Depth over distance was all I asked of you And I may be foolish to fall as I do Still there's strength in the blindness you fear If you're coming too [2x] Hold on, wait until that lone sun Breaks from the arms of the Lord Hold on, though we may be too young To know this ride we're on Depth over distance was all I asked of you And everybody round here's acting like a stone Still there's things I'd do, darling, I'd go blind for you If you let grow sometimes, let it grow sometimes, let it grow Just let it grow sometimes Hold on, wait until that lone sun Breaks from the arms of the Lord Hold on, though we may be too young To know this ride we're on Hold on, though we may be too young To know this ride we're on Depth over distance every time, my dear, And I may be foolish to fall as I do Still there's strength in the blindness you fear If you're coming too, hmm If you're coming too Hold on, wait until that lone sun Breaks from the arms of the Lord Hold on, though we may be too young To know this ride we're on [3x]

Heard this song for the first time in 2024, sorry to say it took that long! This is amazing to say the least, beautiful!!
I truly believe people that listen to music like this are meant to be together, separate from people that don't really hear it.
It makes it hard when you are a deep feeler and are trying to communicate to those who can't express their feelings
They listen to music not hear it!

*To the ground*
This guy speaks to my soul.
Ben you're amazing
Keep doing what you're doing best.
I love you.
2024, who is still listening to this masterpiece?
Just saw someone with a tattoo saying "depth over distance" and I ran to come back here. Wow, this brings back a whole era of emotions
You're a truly wonderful person, and I'm so happy to have met with you in Turkey this summer ❤
Love you always my dearest Natasha...
@@dickie9502 and this dearest Richard has just disappeared somewhere without any explanation. Just let him know I deeply miss him and he will always be my part .
I've probably watched this video 200+ times in the last year alone. I love it.
I've been listening to this song for over a decade and it still hits as hard as it does from the first time I listened to it. Probably even harder. Ben is a magician, not just an artist.
I don’t know what to feel... this song is a masterpiece.
It is! I also love the Lowlands performance.
To my husband, I miss you so very very much. Our depth is what has grown our tree that will live old and weather many storms and keeps our love protected always....❤️
"though we may BE too young to know this right we own"!!!!
I completely forgot "this" Ben Howard existed. Still magic - nine years later...and I still miss the Bond brothers. The trust BH had in Chris here...
Do you know of any other artists the bond brothers have worked with?
Ben Howard's first two albums are just too good. And I completely agree. The Bond brothers were key. So talented in so many aspects.
2021.. who's still listening to the almighty Ben Howard?
My best friend just sent this to me and she lives on the other side of the planet. She's the most beautiful and thoughtful person I've ever known, and it's such an honor that she cares about me enough to try to make our friendship just as meaningful over such an impassable physical divide as it was when we were both living in the same city. This is my Shout out to her. I won't use names for the sake of privacy. But if she reads this she will know that it's for her 🖤
LOVE!!!
2023 and I will always love his music!💜
This song is good for the people who deserve the message
watching this video and thinking/questioning/contemplating out loud:
Do I feel worthy of receiving a partner?
Do I feel worthy of being seen, loved, respected, desired?
Do I love, see, respect and desire myself?
What is my belief system about men? About women?
How are men in my world? How do I perceive them? How about women?
What is my belief system about myself?
How do I carry myself in this world?
How do I perceive myself?
What have my parents taught me about relationships?
What stories have I adopted as my own, about relationships?
I bawled like a baby when I first heard this. It's absolutely breathtaking. Then I watched the video and fell in love with Ben. Good Lord. He's talented and gorgeous!
Digging this far into 2024
So are we!
My home for one is becoming a home for two tomorrow.
I'll be playing this as I welcome my beloved home.
This song is gonna be with us for the rest of our lives.
Thank you Ben.
Depth over Distance.... during lockdown
👏
Perfect 👌
so so well put
Every kingdom Everyday and. The distance is deep😔
me too my friend
Ben Howard has the gift of pushing you to a place of emotion, nostalgia, and depth you cant reach without music.
Whatever he intends his songs to mean, he keeps it open-ended enough we can all use them in our disconnected lives.
Another person with music in their soul. He was born for this
I love this song so much! This song is one of those timeless songs that will live forever.
Just hearing this for the first time. 1/28/24.
Awesome!
This one was instantly onto my lifelong playlist and lead to me finding out about some truly incredible music from Ben Howard....
What a tune I want it played at my passing.🇯🇲🏴
Underated never wanted nothing
My son sent me this and made me cry 😭 I’ve been struggling a lot with anxiety and depression and am so reactive 😢everything can trigger me to lose it
gawd this is gorgeous.
Impeccably tight clean arrangement. The percussion is inspired, riveting. Wow...
Yes. Gorgeous.
Yes. Gorgeous.
Love this song!
I used to play this song everyday when my mum died miss her bad
It’s amazing how he plays the guitar
Bucket list - slow dance in the arms of a man to this song. 🥰
You will find that person in your life .. Best wishes 🎶✌️
Depth over distance every time, my dear
And this tree of ours may grow tall in the woods
But it's the roots that will bind us here
To the ground
Depth over distance was all I asked of you
And I may be foolish to fall as I do
Still there's strength in the blindness you fear
If you're coming too [2x]
Hold on, wait until that lone sun
Breaks from the arms of the Lord
Hold on, though we may be too young
To know this ride we're on
Depth over distance was all I asked of you
And everybody round here's acting like a stone
Still there's things I'd do, darling, I'd go blind for you
If you let grow sometimes, let it grow sometimes, let it grow
Just let it grow sometimes
Hold on, wait until that lone sun
Breaks from the arms of the Lord
Hold on, though we may be too young
To know this ride we're on
Hold on, though we may be too young
To know this ride we're on
Depth over distance every time, my dear,
And I may be foolish to fall as I do
Still there's strength in the blindness you fear
If you're coming too, hmm
If you're coming too
Hold on, wait until that lone sun
Breaks from the arms of the Lord
Hold on, though we may be too young
To know this ride we're on [3x]
Thank you
I sometimes wonder if it may be "lone son..." Could make a bit of sense as well
When I first shared this song to my friends daughter she cried.
In 30 years I'll be showing this to my kids and saying: this guy defined and influenced me the most.
❤
in 20 years I'll be able to tell my children this is the song their parents had their first kiss and first dance to
+Luzi I am 57 and Ben puts me in another place,he is soothing! I want my 32 yr old son to like this as much as I do ! We do share our love for music together as he turned me onto Bon Iver,David Gray,Headand the Heart to name a few,and he loves music from my generation also,he likes Thin Lizzy more than I do.Music is spirit soul and memories!
In my mind its calm and clear so I can stay comfortable in this world.
From beginning to end this performance is a
masterpiece.
Fan since 2011.
(7/13/2024)
I really don't understand how someone can click the thumbs down.. this song is so perfect, and all what Ben is doing with his voice is just like blessing for soul.
Here's proof that great singer/songwriters still exist.
2023 and still a work of art
Wow, this guy is good. I just discovered him today and I can't stop listening.
The same is happening to me now...:) !!! He is just great!!
Listen to "Black Flies". I can never listen to that song just once. It's a total stunner. Like this one.
Same today
