I get so emotional every time he backs away from the mic and just lets the audience sing his own words for him. I hope in those moments he was able to glimpse just how much he meant to us. Love and miss you more than you know, Scott
I miss this guy so much. No, I didn't know him, I didn't need to. He knew my pain, my longing for nothingness but at the same time the eagerness to not let the darkness take over. We lost a good soul.
Born in 89, I was introduced to FR by a random stranger I met on my 21st birthday on a casino lobby couch. We spent 10 hours talking and then went back to our lives. That is how Frightened Rabbit music always has felt- like a sudden connection of dots, a spark in the darkness brought forth by tension and trust. A couple years later, a friend offered me a ticket to a sold out Josh Ritter show, an artist I'd never heard of at the time. I had NO IDEA that Scott, lead singer of my favorite band, would be doing an acoustic opener, and it will forever remain one of the most beautiful "coincidences" I've ever experienced. It was the night I realized I wasn't Catholic anymore because mid-set I turned to my friend and said "we need more of this kind of worship and fewer churches." When I saw FR proper a year later, every song echoed with the resonance of that intimate, vulnerable acoustic set. Everything Scott did reverberated like that. May we see him Floating in the Forth, a reminder that the river of life and death empty into the same basin, for all eternity.
I’ve seen this clip a couple times, and just now, I’m hearing and loving the background chatter while Scott and the crowd sing. It’s like a little bit of warmth and heaven while the world keeps turning and life goes on.
Scott was such a fucking sweetheart. Starts singing the backup vocal harmony and gives the audience the lead. Too good and beautiful a soul to exist on this earth. Every single time I see old shows of his, tears force their way out of me. I'm sad -- I'm mad, I'm goddamn devastated at the loss of Scott Hutchinson, and one year has done little to nothing to change that. The void Scott left is felt by every heart in every room wherever his music can be heard. Goddamnit, Scott, we miss the hell out of you.
RIP Scott Hutchison, all the love from San Francisco. Your songs got me through a lot of hard times, and I'm just sad they couldn't pull you through yours.
You can see it in his eyes. There is simultaneous awe that people know his words and are singing them back at him, and the thought that they already know them without him. You helped me through some tough times and I wish I could have helped you through yours Scott. Thank you. I can't believe it's almost a year.
david morris ithink his real fans have been watching and listening to all his songs since he left us. So hard to believe it's going to be a year. I hope he is at peace. He's so missed.
Incredible performance, amazing artist, R.I.P. Scott. Fuck the people talking all the time while Scott is pouring his heart out during this amazing gig.
R.I.P. You beautiful man you felt you had to leave so you opened the door and walked through it. But your music is so pure and honest the legacy of your music you have left behind is immense you were a beautful soul. But you are now singing on a higher plane and I am sure that the Angels will love it as we have. So sing sing sing you beautiful man we will meet again one day xxxx.
Stumbled across this video again. From a selfish point of view I wished he'd carried on writing bangers like this, however I wish he'd just chosen to live a quiet life in peace. Who knows what was in his head apart from brilliance and sweetness. He made so many people ecstatically happy from his music and words.
I was much too young to truly be affected by the deaths of Kurt Cobain and Elliot Smith. But goddamn, after following FR for so many years in my twenties, Scott's passing hit me up close and personal. There's still a void in my life without him. Rest easy Scott
I take this song with me wherever I go. It's been many years, still my favorite song. The intro from this particular recording is something I hum subconsciously all the time. I'll think of you in the highlands this Winter, Scott.
One of my favorite live videos of Scott Hutchinson! Although I never had the opportunity to meet him, I miss him and am tremendously thankful for his presence in my life through his lyrics and music.....A beautiful soul.
Scott is so beautiful and talented. I hope he is resting peacefully. Beautiful man with a deep feeling heart and soul. This video is beautifully filmed. I thank whoever took this footage from the bottom of my heart. A precious gem- Scott and this film. It made me cry. I love how the audience sang along throughout and the closeups of Scott. This is so precious. Thank you.
A monumental, transcendental sing-a-long of collective despair and ecstasy. Fucks sake Scott, it was worth sticking around for moments like these mate.
He delivered his unwell behind this masterpiece song ! 5:32 Look at all their faces... this song is so powerfull, emotionnal, genious lyrics, awesome singer's voice.... This is the sadest masterpiece ! Thanks, R.I.P Scott
rip Scott, a tremendous songwriter. Also, this is one of the absolute greatest experiences in music, I believe, when you can catch somebody you love in a tiny spot like this where it's incredibly intimate and just spend an hr or two so close to the person/band just belting out the lyrics to those songs just like you have in your car 10,000 times. It just doesn't get any better/more fun and there's a weird but awesome kinship w/ all the ppl you don't know who are doing the exact same thing.
I’m ashamed to say that I saw Frightened Rabbit many years ago when they headlined the 2000 Trees Festival with Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip and even though I watched their set I didn’t pay them enough attention because I didn’t know much about hem or their music. Since hearing about Scott I have a new found respect and appreciation for their music now after going back over a lot of their songs on here. His is one of my favourite performances though.
Just watching this, I am confident that everyone in the audience that night knew that they were sharing something magical. Rock 'n' roll--like all else in life--is fleeting, illusory, ultimately meaningless. But yeah...it didn't feel that way to those who were there that night. I am sure of that.
Love this song and video. I sadly never got to see FR/Scott live, but this is a beautiful testament to him. I also really miss the communal feeling of singing songs with other fans at shows. I hope we get back to this someday
i miss you so much Scott. we all miss you. that you are no longer suffering is the only thing that makes sense in all of this crazy/horrible/beautiful/lonely/sad sad world. i'll see you soon. k. xxo
Yup, all those people yamering in the background are probably telling everybody how great the show was when they saw Scott Hutchison in a small club in Glasgow just before he died. When in fact, they were talking the whole time and didn`t see or hear any of the show.
Sorry, I see the vid was posted in 2013, so it wouldn`t be just before he died, but they are still talking about how great the show was that they didn`t pay any attention to.
So this made me sad a couple of years ago, -and still kinda does. I cant think of anything cooler than a whole bar singing your song, but at the same time a song this personal sort of seems out of place sang by so many people. In other words i dont know what to feel about this.
Im not sure if i agree with my own comment anymore, i just like hearing this song.- and the more people who get to hear, and sing it the better. Hope you are all well.
I get so emotional every time he backs away from the mic and just lets the audience sing his own words for him. I hope in those moments he was able to glimpse just how much he meant to us. Love and miss you more than you know, Scott
Hes a legend

Hey, friend. I hope that you are doing okay. Many of us are here if you need help. Let's do this together.

10 hours talking ???. What the fuck god damn
I’ve seen this clip a couple times, and just now, I’m hearing and loving the background chatter while Scott and the crowd sing. It’s like a little bit of warmth and heaven while the world keeps turning and life goes on.
I much prefer this comment to all the dickheads complaining about the talking. I think it adds to the performance

For fuck sake, take Marcus Mumford. Give me back Scott.
He's exactly where he wants to be. Floatin down the Forth, all the pain is gone. His soul is fine.
RIP Scott Hutchison, all the love from San Francisco. Your songs got me through a lot of hard times, and I'm just sad they couldn't pull you through yours.
Bless you ReYo
Amen, ReYo. All the best.
Im sitting here in 2022 crying over this. Im so sorry Scott, I know it was hard, you were a genius and much loved
Unbelievably cool when the entire crowd started to sing along. Such a great performance.
I came to hear the singer not a bunch of nobodies
You can see it in his eyes. There is simultaneous awe that people know his words and are singing them back at him, and the thought that they already know them without him.
You helped me through some tough times and I wish I could have helped you through yours Scott. Thank you. I can't believe it's almost a year.

Yeah, his lyrics saved my life.
Times are tough again, but I still find myself coming back to right here. Scott. You are missed so dearly, and remembered forever
My God when that crowd first kicked in I just burst into tears. What an incredible moment. Such an amazing talent. RIP Scott.
I have to watch this for the millionth time tonight.
Incredible performance, amazing artist, R.I.P. Scott. Fuck the people talking all the time while Scott is pouring his heart out during this amazing gig.
WHO THE FUCK IS TALKING DURING THIS!!
True legends never die. Not this one. Not ever.
I would do anything to see this live today. life is crazy.
When Scottish people get romantic it's always ridiculously fucking beautiful.
i found this song too late in some regards, and exactly at the right time in others. rest in peace, scott.
I'm only discovering FR this year, which happens to be the worst year of my life. They immediately became one of my favorites!
R.I.P. You beautiful man you felt you had to leave so you opened the door and walked through it.

Rest in peace Scott 😪💚
Mitch Strangman ♥️
This only needs 230 million more views and my faith in humanity could be restored.
This gives me absolute goose bumps. RIP Scott, you made more than just tiny changes.
Wow Glasgow, you can sing. Absolutely brilliant.
I hope he knew how much his songs meant to so many.
Stumbled across this video again. From a selfish point of view I wished he'd carried on writing bangers like this, however I wish he'd just chosen to live a quiet life in peace. Who knows what was in his head apart from brilliance and sweetness. He made so many people ecstatically happy from his music and words.
It's so sad he's gone. He could be such a great role model for people who are struggling if he were still here
My husband made me discover this song and words fail to express how perfect it is
How love how the majority of words are the crowd, buddy we miss you!
I was much too young to truly be affected by the deaths of Kurt Cobain and Elliot Smith. But goddamn, after following FR for so many years in my twenties, Scott's passing hit me up close and personal. There's still a void in my life without him.
Rest easy Scott
I was in Portalnd when Elliott Smith died. Now I miss Scott too. God bless you, Mr. Gumaro.
From one of the few Africans that love rock, this band is top 10 of all time. Ever.
Man this never gets old. Miss Scott. RIP
When you don't even need to sing your song. OMG. I'm just kinda a mess of tears right now.
I take this song with me wherever I go. It's been many years, still my favorite song. The intro from this particular recording is something I hum subconsciously all the time. I'll think of you in the highlands this Winter, Scott.
This always gives me goosebumps. Must have been amazing to be there.
i love this performance. so bittersweet to watch now.
what a beautiful video. the crowd were outstanding.
RIP Scott
Unfucking real crowd !!
i miss him. what a loss
This makes me happy, but incredibly sad at the same time. Dammit, Scott.
To be honest Scott really doesn't have to do much singing here, the crowd are doing it for him. Brilliant.

This is such a great recording of this song. Got to feel great to have a crowd sing one of your songs like this
A monumental, transcendental sing-a-long of collective despair and ecstasy. Fucks sake Scott, it was worth sticking around for moments like these mate.
The more I watch this dude, the more bummed out I am about his (our) loss. Soulful human being...
So so so sad, what a legend what a loss. Rest easy big man, no more pain. God bless and keep you. 😢
Listened to this song over and over and over while dealing with my ex's infidelity 6 years ago.. I am heartbroken right now.
This is my favorite song ever, it says it all, the feeling, the words, the pain. I never knew Scott but I feel it all.
RIP Scott. You're a legend.
With people like these there‘s hope.
Hauntingly beautiful. Thank you Scott for the short time you were on this planet.
once you're this good, fans will play your concert for you ;)
He delivered his unwell behind this masterpiece song !
5:32 Look at all their faces... this song is so powerfull, emotionnal, genious lyrics, awesome singer's voice.... This is the sadest masterpiece ! Thanks, R.I.P Scott
6 years today. miss you scott.
Youre a constant Scott. Never met you but you've impacted me so much.
Only just discovering this version. Amazing song. Amazing venue. God, wish I coulda been there..
rip Scott, a tremendous songwriter. I came to this party late. A huge talent that feels ripped from us way to soon.
Beautiful, eternally..
RIP Scott Hutchison. Thank you for the beauty you shared.
We miss you Scott.
This video breaks my heart. I miss you so much Scott.
I love you Scott. I'm crying as I send this. I'm so sorry

the first song i ever learned to play on my guitar, in honor of scott. rest in peace you wonderful bastard.
This just keep giving me strength and tears of pure joy and hope. How they pick it straight up and deliver and how he follows them. Love!
I’m ashamed to say that I saw Frightened Rabbit many years ago when they headlined the 2000 Trees Festival with Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip and even though I watched their set I didn’t pay them enough attention because I didn’t know much about hem or their music. So good. Miss him.
Miss this man.
Jesus Scott, it makes me try to grasp that hearing your words echo through the room on nights like those was simply too much.
Just watching this, I am confident that everyone in the audience that night knew that they were sharing something magical. Rock 'n' roll--like all else in life--is fleeting, illusory, ultimately meaningless. But yeah...it didn't feel that way to those who were there that night. I am sure of that.
My goodness, that was a special performance.
RIP Scott. You brought amazing music to this world
Brilliant Song, And A Great Singalong With The Fans. Top Music
i just read the terrible news. Rest in peace man. Even if you haven’t found peace in this life, know that your music has helped a lot to find it.
This got me teary with everyone singing together.
Love this song and video. I sadly never got to see FR/Scott live, but this is a beautiful testament to him. I also really miss the communal feeling of singing songs with other fans at shows. I hope we get back to this someday

Always Love This Song. Sk Canada
1:25 has to be the most intimidating fan ever
+David Matheson I was thinking the same thing... until I noticed he was indeed singing along to THIS song of all songs.
Welcome to Scotland lol
I can't stand people who TALK at shows/concerts. It's so disrespectful.
Why am I crying
CRYING. RIP king 👑💔
Rest In Paradise Scott 🙏

Respect, think about it next time. Boys and girls
So this made me sad a couple of years ago, -and still kinda does.
I cant think of anything cooler than a whole bar singing your song,

In other words i dont know what to feel about this.
Im not sure if i agree with my own comment anymore, i just like hearing this song.- and the more people who get to hear, and sing it the better. Hope you are all well.
R.I.P my love..
Miss you. x
The girl on the left and I would have been great concert buddies when I was in my 20s. That is pretty much me!
holy shit, didn't expect that :o
