Alright here is something to keep in mind. One of the paths into Honeywood, a magical glade of blades of grass, has now been destroyed. I am sure there will be absolutely no lasting consequences to this whatsoever. . But to admit I think the Ranger Guild planted this just to be a jerk to people they don't like.

BOY that takes me back... You have preprared the most delicate riddles, the most cunning traps and the most heart-rending character exposition, and what do your heroes do? Go chasing chickens, or having a tree felling competition, or, on one memorable occasion, pissing off the local baron, getting thrown on the dung heap for being obnoxious and then getting scrubbed clean by his chief of housekeeping who used to be his chief of guards until she took an arrow to the knee... Ok, sometimes you CAN make something off it...
One of my benchmarks for whether an MMO is any good is whether I can go fishing. I've spent quality time in LOTRO and SOTA; in fact one of the Festivals in LOTRO pretty much revolves around fishing in Bywater Pond and so can be enjoyed at any level.
I love how Greg isn't technically a mage of some kind. He just uses trinkets that like, amazingly work during shit. I feel like him using cure wounds was him just tossing some cold ass water on Bob with that bucket to wake him up more XD
A group of friends and I were swimming in a river, once, with this awesome rope swing and cliffs to jump off. One buddy jumps in with his glasses on, and they disappear 15 feet down into the riverbed. Honest attempts to help turned into racing to be the one to find them, turned into just jumping for fun and touching the bottom out of courtesy, turned into us just skipping rocks and him being super salty. 🤣🤣 great time believe it or not, he found them laying on a rock at the waterhole a few weeks later. someone found and left them
I love how the guys decided to keep on through the enchanted spiky terrain and getting brutal amounts of damage even though they clearly saw they can't slash through it or dispel it. Rob must have been crying inside his head, wondering why they didn't take the river or the higher road. Sometimes the players turn the easiest obstacles into a major and dangerous encounter while the DM just stands there with a Pikachu face :D
15:00 - BARADUN: We just survived enchanted grass designed to tear us to pieces. GREG: Yeah. What do you want to do now? BODGER: Ducks and drakes? BARADUN: Sure! BOB: Pooh sticks! Look, I've found a log! THE REST: NO.
Splendid episode as always. And as always I would like to recommend the DM to run "expedition to the barrier peaks" with the VLDL crew next time or the one after, that module would be absolutely hilarious.
@@RobertHartleyGM I understand, and certainly the module itself has a terrible bland story and motivation, but the setting itself is what is incredible, I am trying not to spoil for anyone also reading the comments but if you could come up with a great story that runs on the "setting" and its "themes" if you get that... it could be very fun to both run and watch. I am only suggesting that because I really think that, and for a setting that Gygax (May he rest in peace) came up with in 1976 it was way ahead of its time. I also know there is a 2019 remake of it for the 5e of DnD that may be better to adapt. Thanks for the repply and whatever you come up with I certainly will keep watching because you and the VLDL crew are awesome!

I really like how whomever did the captions added interpretation such as emoji and shrugs and "/s" at the appropriate times and stuff.
Thanks I turned them on bc you said this :)
Considering the scottish accent that sometimes accidentally comes out, Bob could stand for Brother of Bodger (mad plot twist)
meanwhile, during the skill check, rob discretely turns around and sends a message "Honey, I'll be running late tonight, these idiots are skipping stones" XD
This series encouraged me to host my own games.
Nice
Yes, do it!
Same!
Man if you're in Wgtn and need a player, 100% keen :D
You guys just KEEP teasing me with Darkwood. You know how much I want it.
Lol you wanting some dark wood.. Sorry
I never though skimming stones would be hilarious but it's my favorite part of the episode so far 😂
Anytime I see a player afflicted with the Mercer Effect, I'm going to have them watch this series to see how DMs are really just Nerd Wranglers.
Can't be a Mercer without a Reigel, O'Bryan, Bailey etc.
Having said that, I would LOVE to see Mercer DM these guys.
@@RobertHartleyGM Mercer: *confused_hands_in_the_air.jpeg*
That's it. I'm never going to DM again. From now on, call me.... Nerd Wrangler.
"Hack and slash, slash and hack, hacking and slashing, slashing and hacking!"-Bob
“I found a log” killed me😂
greg should let baylen run the tavern...
"good day for drinking... huhuh!"
But then, who would supply the fish for each day's garlic and fish breakfast?!
"Good day for drinking, ain't it?... hiccup!"
Mugger A) Hey... isn't that a new episode of NPC D&D?
Mugger B) Yeah... so?
Mugger A) So... let's watch it!
*"You know what we should do ?!?"
" What ?"
"Let's watch it !"
"But bernard we are muggers we don't watch videos"
"Hey !, What are we ?"
"We... We are muggers ?"
"No no no, today we are viewers !"
"But Bernard-"
"Hey huh hey ! What are we ?!?"
We're, uhh,, djhehd hdjdjdh jdjshshhdhdhdhdjsj! We are viewers !"
"Yeah yeah ! And what do viewers do ? "
"They watch videos, they watch every video"
Both - "So. Let's. Go. Watch it !"
Who knew I needed a arc on just rock skimming 😂😂
I'm not sure how he could fit, but can the crying "please adventurer" NPC be added to the DnD campaigns?
I mean he will pull the aggro from every enemies by annoy them with his identical cry everytime so he will be a good damage absorber.
I was also thinking the crew gets a disadvantage to help him
In return, completing his quest gets some awesome items lmao

*..or a lure*
Slow yourself adventurer uhhuh uhhuh uh huh uh huh
uhu, uhu, uhu!
These are so cool. At the end make sure to make a giant edit of the whole adventure in one vid so we can all relive it ;D
I cannot agree with this enough lol
this is so interesting, I never understood how d&d was played for this and now i wanna play it too, another great job with this new channel, great DM, great players
"Baelin! Baelin!"
"Evenin! Nice night for fishin, ain't it!"
Here in Canada we call it skipping rocks, not skimming rocks. Just an interesting factoid. LOVED that the players spent so long on that! Too funny!!
Ya
I laughed so hard I teared up during the stone skimming bit. Great start to my morning.
Admit it. We really wanted to see Bob try and skip that log. =)
this entire episode and the one before: *happy funny hilarious moments*
next episode preview: "M U R D E R"
My Friday routine: Get up, go to work, one screen spreadsheets and software, one screen VLDL D&D, try not to laugh too loud to alert co-workers. Rinse, repeat. ❤️💙
It's not D&D until you spend an hour and a half skimming rocks.
Any creature as smart as a skeleton or more would be able to see this grass and do the same hacking and slashing to get through it.
Looking forward to bodger joining the rangers and essentially becoming Minsc, except with a hammer and without the faithful fuzzy companion 😁
I love DnD , its not all just fighting and there are those wholesome moments where we bond over dumb stuff like 15:00. This is nice :)
22:05 hit me hard as an scp fan "Here there be dragons"
"Here there be dragons" is an old tradition to put in unexplored areas of maps. :)
I could use a 10 hour loop of Bob saying “Investigatin’”. don’t know what for, but I’d still listen to it
The hack slash one is good too haha.
I love that they are always suspicious at the wrong things
BOY that takes me back... You have preprared the most delicate riddles, the most cunning traps and the most heart-rending character exposition, and what do your heroes do? Go chasing chickens, or having a tree felling competition, or, on one memorable occasion, pissing off the local baron, getting thrown on the dung heap for being obnoxious and then getting scrubbed clean by his chief of housekeeping who used to be his chief of guards until she took an arrow to the knee... Ok, sometimes you CAN make something off it...
Two paths diverged in the woods I tried to take the one the dm didn’t want and that has caused all of the damage.
"Everyone shut up, I'm having a nap."
🤣
The rock skimming reminded me of when you find out you can fish in an MMO and waste far too much time with it. Lol
One of my benchmarks for whether an MMO is any good is whether I can go fishing. I've spent quality time in LOTRO and SOTA; in fact one of the Festivals in LOTRO pretty much revolves around fishing in Bywater Pond and so can be enjoyed at any level.
If they ever run into some vampires I expect the vamps to spontaneously combust upon their arrival with all that damn garlic in their systems 🤣
I love how Greg isn't technically a mage of some kind. He just uses trinkets that like, amazingly work during shit. I feel like him using cure wounds was him just tossing some cold ass water on Bob with that bucket to wake him up more XD
omg these are just getting better and better! can’t wait for the next one!
🤣🤣 great time
believe it or not, he found them laying on a rock at the waterhole a few weeks later. someone found and left them
No matter what they try, NPC's will be stuck in a loop!
This is not the only VLDL content with the GM in it. I just spied him in one of their skits!
Rob is in a Bored ep and now the newest FPS Logic #4
Just here for my double dose of VLDL content. A new reason to look forward to Fridays! Thank you all of the VLDL team!
Actually, scenes from the tavern are the BEST moment!! XD
“I got a log!” That one killed me 😂😂😂😂😂
saw the notification and just said yes! loudly my boyfriend said viva D&D only RUclips I get genuinely excited over thanks guys
>goes on an adventure
>Spends most of the time off the rails doing things like skipping stones
1:27 "I want to investigate the grass..." TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH! Geez!
"Thats offensive to the skimming community" I died
This D&D channel is absolutely fantastic, I really enjoy watching the npc's adventure cutscenes! Keep up the good work!
Rob's stone was called 'cut scene' because it was unskimmable..
*Slow clap*
“I found a rock! Guys, I found a rock! It’s a particulary smooth rock!“
15:00 - BARADUN: We just survived enchanted grass designed to tear us to pieces.
GREG: Yeah. What do you want to do now?
BODGER: Ducks and drakes?
BARADUN: Sure!
BOB: Pooh sticks! Look, I've found a log!
THE REST: NO.
this episode they did bugger all except skip stones and get lost and I loved it
17:06 Alan's little background quips are the best. 🤣
Splendid episode as always. And as always I would like to recommend the DM to run "expedition to the barrier peaks" with the VLDL crew next time or the one after, that module would be absolutely hilarious.
I prefer my own worlds rather than modules but thanks for the suggestion.
I hope they never reach the wolves and just skip rocks and get drunk at the tavern for 20 more episodes, lmao.
I just love how they get distracted with a rock skipping competition when they're supposed to be looking for wolves! 😆
And on a time crunch...
@@RobertHartleyGM is there a better time for rock skipping? 😆
OMG 😱, I'm so addicted to this particular series!
By the time I watched this there have been enough views that over 1 million minutes have been spent watching adult men role play at skipping stones.
Over 2 years worth of human time...
I'm impressed!
24:33 I knew it! I thought it was a plot hole at the time and was irritated that nobody in the party challenged it. VINDICATION!
12:01 And so was invented the most fearsome of weapons - THE CROSSPISTOL!
these are the funiest videos i've found on YT in a long time XD
The rock skimming diversion is quintessential d&d. You literally never know how the players are going to derail you but that's half the fun. 😁
Omg that episode got me laughing all the way 😂😂😂
P.s : Rob you're a legend for real.
6:00 bens goes full Captain price!
