My mom would make up to ten of the same cards and she would put a sticky note in the first of the cards. When she sent the card to someone she would note who it was so she never sent that person a duplicate card. She was active at her church with the outreach group and would send birthday, get well, sympathy cards, etc to parishioners regularly. Thought you might be able to pass this tip on to others.
My tip is a three ring binder to organize your card making instructions and or templates. If it’s a complicated card, I also make a practice card from copy paper to keep in the page protector with the instructions. Sometimes I keep a copy of the card itself there, too.
Great advice MayMay! It’s just shocking to me how many card makers do not send out their cards!!! I mean, what is the point??? I started seriously making cards in 2020 and I do a fairly large mail out each month: distant family and friends, students and neighbors. I also grow my birthday list each year. I’ve collected important birthdays and try to stay a month ahead on those. If I have ones I don’t need or don’t fit who I’m making for, I send those to nursing home residents. I have found people LOVE getting my cards. They save them, display them, show everyone they know! It helps me encourage others and stay connected to people I care about. Regarding multiples…I literally cannot make just one!! LOL I might change colors or something, but I’d hate for all my cousins to miss out on a beautiful design! 🤷♀️ I know some have really fancy ways of tracking their makes. Here’s what I do: I opened a private Pinterest board where I upload each card. In the comments, I state who I sent it to and the occasion and year. (I.e. Erin’s birthday 2023). It’s easy, convenient and free. It keeps a log of what I’ve done and a picture so I can revisit it anytime.
Dedicate part of a card making session to pick 2 - 3 stamps or dies that you've never used (brand new or older) and use them. Cut a bunch of something in white and/or colored card. Stamp some card panels with some floral stamps you forgot you had. Maybe color some or heat emboss some and make a card or 2 with whatever you cut or stamped or just put them away for the next time you sit down to make a card.
A couple of times a year I bring a box of cards to church and leave them out in the foyer with a sign that says "free cards"! By the end of the day my box is mostly empty and I've helped someone bless someone else! Win-win!
I’ve made a couple of mystery cards and they have turned out amazing! Another thing I do is score a BIG stack of 8.5x11 paper for bases and take them to an office supply store and have them cut the paper. It costs around $2.00 and so worth the money and the time saved cutting them myself. I appreciate your last tip. During 2020, I started sending cards to everyone in my address book. It was just a way to let them know I was thinking about them and a way for them to get some happy mail. I am still doing this 4 years later! It also helped me by sharing my God given creativity. Thanks for these ideas and for all you and your team do. God bless you 😊
I love your videos! I check our church bulletin each Sunday and send cards to those mentioned. People LOVE getting cards and personal notes. It is so important to keep that personal connection in this digital age.
When I cut down 12x12 to use for "Mystery" cards, I cut from each side - that eliminates the middle section, which is usually more open and blank. Those pages are created for scrapbooking and the center of the page is allowing for a photograph.
Fantastic ideas! I think every card maker should have a Card Making Project Manager tray. I have a sectioned tray where I keep my most used card making tools and supplies and my current project papers and embellishments. When I want to make a card, I move the tray to my craft table. When I have to stop for the day, I put everything back in the tray until the next time I can craft. LOVE your videos! ❤
A You-Tuber asked about regrets we had about making cards, and I admitted that my biggest regret is the cards I never made and never sent because I had the thought but not the time or the energy to make. So I regret that I haven't made two cards each time, or haven't just sat down and batch-made cards. I'm going to do better!
I agree with you so very much! Those times where I had the opportunity to send to someone and did not do it only to find out that my opportunity is no longer there. I am praying that I can get more organized and craft more. I’m Going to do better also!!! Thanks for your suggestions.
I scan my cards, 4 at a time. Store the page in a binder. It's interesting to look back when I need ideas. Especially when I have an element (butterfly) I want to use and need background ideas.
Since I've been making cards (started watching Maymay in 2018), I make two A2 almost every time. Probably heard the idea from here, too. You cut 2 bases & have all the supplies out anyway. Love a 2fer 🧡
Great ideas! Wonderful. One of the things I do to make sure I actually send cards out is add birthdays to my calendar on my phone and put in an alert for ONE WEEK prior to the birthday. That gives me enough time to pick just the right card and make sure the recipient receives the card on time. I'm going to try the Mystery method today! Thank you so much.
These are my favorite type of cards to make. I have so much beautiful paper I like to let it work for me. Also, I'm a stamp collector. The only way I can use them all is to keep it simple. Thanks, Mm. P.S. I make cards for the homebound. I keep a stash of cards at the ready and also a planner (on my desk) with everyone's b-day written down.
I make cards for the homebound, also. I don’t have a problem coming up with the cards, but sometimes I run out of ideas for the inside greetings. Do you have any suggestions?
Excellent suggestion and I like the idea about having the cards for the homebound on your calendar. I’m looking for a way to be organized in order to send cards to my Church members on their birthdays, special occasions, and sympathy. Thanks very much!
I've started making multiples and it is so helpful. I store all my cards in a box that fits up to 5x7 and have them arranged by sentiment. I also have a card for every month in the year with all the birthdays and anniversaries listed and I get a month's worth all filled out and ready to mail at the first of each month. Everyone loves to get the cards, even the ones I didn't particularly love. (they don't know that of course) Personal correspondence is so rare and you just never know when it'll make someone's day. Thank you for all the great tips and tricks. Mystery cards are my new favorite!
Make breakgrounds, make sentiment strips, make black layers for the background strips anf they are easy to put together or even last minute as occasion comes up.
You're the best! Those are really great ideas I do three out of the seven. I am definitely going to start putting these into practice. And I like the idea of adding stamps to the gift☺️. Thanks, MayMay
I o my o these...I have cousins that love to have homemade cards to send out. I take pics of most of my cards and usually make a couple of each...thanks for the great tips!
I have all my 137 birthday cards I make and send in a year all addressed and signed laid out my month ready to hand to the mailperson. I also make and send 93 thinking of you/Praying for you cards every 3 months to my family and friends. My family calls it a God thing. But they think it is weird that it arrived in the mail the day they need to see someone cares for is thinking of them. My March mailing are all addressed and just need to be signed and some snappy thoughts to the person and each evening just before bed I sign and write in about 2-3 cards a night and then March 1 they will go out a few every day or maybe none some days but I get this feeling of you need to mail this card today. So, I wait for my mailperson to make sure the person that it is addressed to gets it when they need it. I spend a lot on postage every year but just something I need to do. And remember “no one displays an email on the mantel.” It makes my family mad and maybe half of your group also. But I’m a very organized person always have been down to Halloween is the day I wrap all my Christmas Gifts which are all purchased in Jan and Feb on sale by comments made Christmas day that is what I did not get this year, I wished I did. And then it leaves me all of November to help young mothers at church get their gifts wrapped. And also, so I can do things with friends that might invite me and not feel rushed to get my Christmas done because it is. I know you will find this overdone, but I hate being rushed to get something done. My cards are plan and a lot cheaper because I sent so many, but I’m lost my job and living of savings until I retire in 2 years, so cards are mostly just stamped and colored and no layers because that means more paper. And cheap envelopes because no one keeps them maybe just long enough to note the address to keep their address updated if needed.
Great tips. When I see interesting cards on the video's and don't have time to really make them, I'll often make it in miniature and gleue it to afile card and keep them in a box for when I feel like actualy making the card for real I have a small example of it, and it's a good way to use up left over scraps.
I've never shaded a card with a spoon. What a great idea! I recently got pics of my sisters quilts she's made over the years. What a great idea to keep cards I make with directions to make it not only for myself but for my kids to look back on when I'm older or gone. Thx for the ideas
Similar to your idea with taking a photo of your project, I then upload them to a private board on Pinterest organized by project type, that way I can always reference it for future projects.
Love your suggestions. I also have a file box, divided by month, with a list of birthdates/names and when I make a card with that person in mind I put it in there so when I mail out cards that month I see it to send to that person.
I like the storage container for cards. Im making batches of 6 cards with envelopes atm to donate to Mind ( UK mental health charity) for fund raising. Those containers would make a nice alternative to the box envelopes I'm putting them in atm x
Thank you, Maymay, for sharing so many great and practical ideas! The extra strips of paper would be perfect, also, for a coordinating piece for the inside of the card. On everyone of my cards, I add at least one Bible verse. It's a great way to encourage someone and get the Word of God out to others. I've had many people thank me for the encouragement or for caring about them in that way.
I like to stamp a bunch of images in different colours at once, cut them out then make a bunch of simple cards using the images stamped. The cards usually consist of a degree of patterned paper, a narrow strip of black or mirrored cardstock on one edge of the patterned paper and the image I have cut out sitting on top of the strip edge and just over the top of the patterned paper. Keeps it simple, easy and a great way to use my patterned papers.
I love the channel! I tend to have acquired more paper and supplies than I can use. Creating is so much fun and with cards to smash through supplies I will challenge myself by just grabbing a bundled pile per month. The random bundles have even surprised myself of what transpired into great cards to send and share! I can still make multiples but slightly different or very different every time.
#7, mail or the cards. Fast forward, me cleaning out my craft room. I found 4 cards, addressed stamped but forgot to send out. Different people and dates. 2010, 2015, 2017, 2019. Oopsie me. Sometimes I’ve forgot if I sent a card. My sister would say, I must be extra special because you sent me a card at the beginning and end of the month for my birthday. It was my phone reminder that messed me up and I could remember if I actually did send one. Life’s busy. ❤❤
At the end of a crafty afternoon, I like to take the scraps and make up cards with them. The paper has already been coordinated, do these work up quickly, and I don’t have to deal with the scraps.
Loved the 6 by 6. Made it. Realized I didn’t have any 6 x 6 paper. My pad was 8 x 8 so I was able to alter the first one. Waiting for the 12 x 12. So happy that it was made from card stock also and not some other type of paper. I will make many for 12 By 12. Thank you!
When I do a "show stopper" card I take a picture and print with my small photo printer and put it with my instructions so I can see the finished projects
Me too, it's so helpful when I hit a creative rut to go back and look through my own inspiration and remind myself of what a great job I did and how someone else would love that same card.🙂
Have a list of family and friends and try to send each one, at every 6 months. I have gotten calls that the cards were right on time for one reason or another!
If I like a card that was sent to me or I make a card to send out & I really like it. I will make a template of it in colors I don't care for. I put it into a clear sleeve w/all the directions how to make it. Then I will always have it.❤
I keep a calendar posted in my office, which is my card making area. It is only for cards. I have a set of labels that I print up each year and place them on the date that a card is needed for birthday or anniversary. Then I can see ahead of time what is coming. I can indicate on the Calendar a dot when I have made that particular card and a checkmark when it is mailed. Of course, there are occasions that come up in between, and I can jot those down such as having sent a thinking of you card for someone who I periodically do that for. That helps keep me on track. Loved your 7 suggestions MayMay!!
Greetings from Wyoming! I love watching you, Vinnie, and Shenanigans (Shannon). It’s funny, I just watched an old mystery card video last night, and here it is part of your video today; I told my card group about it yesterday and we are going to try it Thursday when we meet.
😊Hi Maymay Gosh what pretty cards you created and sharing you brilliant ideas to create quick card yet sweet, pretty, precious and thoughtful….to,make someone’s day!! I always take pics with my iPad of the card and the recipe print out the pix and put them on a loose leaf paper and keep them in a binder I’ve been doing this for many years I don’t make many cards but I love having my inspiration binders to look back at!! Thanks for your Tutorial and sharing your Tremendously Terrific Tips, Tricks and Techniques!! This was fun too. YOU SO ROCK!!! Great comments everyone. Ya know girl you really started something….and everyone is participating….GREAT JOB!!!! Joan Smith😊
Ahh! I love that church stamp!... so I am really good at making cards, remembering dates and my special folks... but writing and mailing is my kryptonite. 😂🤦♀️
I cut my A2 cards ahead of time so they are ready to fold and design. I also like to make 2 cards, 1 to send and 1 to keep in my example stash, usually in the pocket with the stamp set
Great ideas, thank you! I like to watercolor paint, but sometimes it does not work as i planned. So i cut it up like you said for backings. Some have been astounding surprises. Some, i get new ideas for a painting, too.
I started making a book to keep track of all the projects I’ve learned how to make from watching you plus small sewing items so I don’t have to go back and find the videos and get the measurements.
Can't wait to get this stamp set and start playing with it. First of all I'll make a set of notecards for a high school classmate of mine who is now a pastor and I hope he will be able to make use of them. And then, I'm not ashamed to say, when I see what other more creative folks have done with this on your gallery I'll be doing a bunch of happy copying!
I always add some of out front card stock to the inside of the card, and/or the outside of the envelope. So many demos, don't show ideas for what to put on the inside. All that blank space for writing isn't always the best.
My worst problem I like to batch cards. I tending to do a lot of 1 step. Stencils and paste since I have it out I make a lot then have to let it dry. By the time that’s done my crafty time is over. I’m also trying to mail cards. I’ve always been horrible at mailing things which shocked me that I got into cards about a year and half ago.
All great ideas! I love the card storage container! I need to take more pictures of my cards and store them somewhere!! Now to find where to store that's easy to retrieve!
Open up your address book and just start addressing the envelopes and send "I'm just thinking about you and hope you have a great day" type cards. You'll be done in no time.
Great tips! Thanks for sharing, but I NEED to know about your stamp press thingy! Was that a crystal dog/bear you were using to press your stamp?!?!?!? And where can I get one?!?!?!? Been loving your videos for a long time now.
U could print that pic of the card and put it in the frist idea of the book that way u could send both cards out and still have a reference to make that card again
Love the crystal looking dog stamp press you used on the Altenew stamp wheel! Would love to know where you got that, or the Brand name of it if anyone knows? Please and thank you! I love adding a few dog decor items into my craft room when I can, as my husband and I have rescued 5 dogs and I love them all dearly! ❤
Great ideas! When you save your 2nd card put a post it note on it with the originally recipient so you don't send the same card to them again!
That's another great idea! 😊
This is also a great idea when you send purchased boxed cards that come in sets or in duplicates.
I always worry I’m going to do that!
That's a really good idea.
I love to take 30 minutes to an hour to just cut out/score my A2 size cards in white. This is a big help to me when creating cards.
I know some have really fancy ways of tracking their makes.
Pinterest! What a wonderful idea!
That is a good idea I'll have to try that. Thanks for sharing
I love that idea! Thank you. It really helps me!
My comment is what every card maker should NOT do!! Don’t compare your work to someone else’s!! Great tips! Thank you, May May!
A couple of times a year I bring a box of cards to church and leave them out in the foyer with a sign that says "free cards"! By the end of the day my box is mostly empty and I've helped someone bless someone else! Win-win!

I make two cards when new to me design, send one and save the other for my sample box, great to always refer back to.

Putting a logo or identifier, signature on the back. All my cards have a small bunny stamped on the back
I really like this idea. I’ve done a “handmade” stamp, but having your own image is a cool idea.
Maymay, you're amazing! I love all your tips! Thank you,

@@mariannjack5839you could try poems or quotes.
Great ideas!!! Thanks!!❤❤❤
Thank you, love your ideals. I am new to card making, this is what I need to get started. You are a great teacher.
I use my “ugly” paper to make templates of things like gift card holders, boxes, fancy folds etc.
Fabulous ideas! Just what I needed! 💕💕💕

Thank you for these ideas. Just the motivation I needed.
You're the best! Those are really great ideas I do three out of the seven. I am definitely going to start putting these into practice. And I like the idea of adding stamps to the gift☺️. Thanks, MayMay
Love the mystery cards. I need to do more of this. Such simple cards.

Janet, What do you mean shaded a card with a spoon? I've never heard of that before.
Hi Janet are talking about the Waffle Flower Blending Brushes?
Similar to your idea with taking a photo of your project, I then upload them to a private board on Pinterest organized by project type, that way I can always reference it for future projects.
Great ideas/reminders! I definitely don't need more stress. 😊
I call my card sending PR work. Build people up

Thank you! This is a great and super helpful video!
Great ideas! Thanks.
I occasionally ask my friends on Facebook if they would like me to send someone a card from them. I sign it "their name" is thinking of you❤️
Love your ideas.
Greetings from Wyoming! I love watching you, Vinnie, and Shenanigans (Shannon).
It’s funny, I just watched an old mystery card video last night, and here it is part of your video today; I told my card group about it yesterday and we are going to try it Thursday when we meet.
Thank u MayMay for your Ah-mazing suggestions. I especially love the mystery cut. U are a genius
Love all of these..
Wonderful suggestions!

Oh yeah!
I have a binder with all the card instructions and an example card in a page protector so I can always go back and make the card again.
Great idea I love these
❤❤ Great tips. As always
Making cards...check. Storing cards...check. Sending cards...X. Gotta work on that third one!
Great tips/reminders!
…49 & Market is my absolute favorite paper…these are beautiful, Maymay!
I always add some of out front card stock to the inside of the card, and/or the outside of the envelope. So many demos, don't show ideas for what to put on the inside. All that blank space for writing isn't always the best.
Have a stamp made or print labels with made by or made with love by andvyour name for the back of your card. Thanks MayMay
I absolutely love this idea! And I binged watched all of your other mystery card videos! Thanks so much for sharing Maymay!
Love this video! Such great ideas.....defiantly going to apply these ideas.
Sometimes when I get an idea for a card, I put all the items needed to make it them in trays with a sketch & comments.
I like the Color My Life app.. you could store card pics in it as well! Not just craft items! Love these tips!
Thank you for the great ideas!
They are all good ideas im sure there area few more but you covered some good topics and indo those also I really make 1 card anymore.
great tips. Thanks May May.
I hardly ever make 2 cards that look exactly alike unless they are Christmas cards. I never have a plan. Just crafting by the seat of my pants. 😂
All great ideas! I love the card storage container! I need to take more pictures of my cards and store them somewhere!! Now to find where to store that's easy to retrieve!
I store all pictures of my cards on Pinterest in a private board.
I never make the same card twice, frankly. I treat cards as artwork.
Me too. That's why it takes me so long to make them, or scrapbook. There are great ideas here to help me.
I'm the same way-but im still new and havent made more than 100 yet lol
❤❤❤
I’ve been using my scraps to make clusters for the front of the card. My problem is I need to mail out cards. I have two bins full of made cards!
Open up your address book and just start addressing the envelopes and send "I'm just thinking about you and hope you have a great day" type cards. You'll be done in no time.
Yay! Cards! Love these ideas. :)
Great ideas. Thank you for sharing 😊🤗
Great tips! Thanks for sharing, but I NEED to know about your stamp press thingy! Was that a crystal dog/bear you were using to press your stamp?!?!?!? And where can I get one?!?!?!? Been loving your videos for a long time now.

I agree Great ideas and I am loving that ink den - where is it from
U could print that pic of the card and put it in the frist idea of the book that way u could send both cards out and still have a reference to make that card again
These were great ideas thank you 😊
Love the crystal looking dog stamp press you used on the Altenew stamp wheel! Would love to know where you got that, or the Brand name of it if anyone knows? Please and thank you! I love adding a few dog decor items into my craft room when I can, as my husband and I have rescued 5 dogs and I love them all dearly! ❤
