Then you put the sticker on the can and all the letters look the same thickness (if you look straight on). The tattoo artist fucked up because: 1. He made it way too fat. You're supposed just make it ever so slightly stretched JUST AT THE ENDS, not the whole thing. (my soup can analogy was way exaggerated to make a point.) 2. With a face no stretching is okay. I have studied graphic design and I'm still trying to understand what he expected there to happen when he fattened her face to bend around the curve. It absolutely makes no sense. Such a weird choice. In particular when the canvas deliberately said, that he didn't want that to happen.
not really, most bc of social media most tattoo artists are allowed to specialize and cultivate their own aesthetic, tattoo artists only needed to do everything back when there weren’t as many avenues to see a tattoo artists work before you walk in. Even if you look at past winners ig feeds, they obviously specialize in one aesthetic that they have mastered. saying that ink master represents the best of tattooing is like saying American idol is the pinnacle of singing. I think Duffy's tattoo wasn't nearly as bad as Kruseman's. Chris was right it looked busted; but luckily the guy that got tattooed likes it. Yes, Duffy changed some details on the girl, but I can tell it is still her even though she did look a tad bit different. Honestly, I'd be fine with it.

Exactly. That's a niche skill, go seek out a specialist (and be willing to pay for it).
These are supposed to be the professionals though

It must have looked better in person cause that sucker looked awful on camera lol
I CANNOT believe they kicked Jason off with that good tattoo when Kyle tattoo litrally looked like the grandma had a fresh 3rd degree burn
Respect to the dude acknowledging his weaknesses and playing accordingly.
Whyd Jesse make the face so dark? In The picture, her skin was clearly lighter than that. (Yoda voice) "Basic observation skills he doesent have".
I think he tried darken the skin to at least try and hide the fact he made her chubby. But it ended up seriously hindering it.
Portrait tattoos usually look much darker when fresh. All the dark shading disappears after a couple of weeks
It was looking alright before he did the shading in the face. But him shrinking it down was a horrible choice.
Sorry, but "accuracy" doesn't exist in a vacuum. I don't care if it's 100% accurate if the tattoo sucks to everyone who looks at it.
You're just mad your gamgam looks like the crypt keeper
I mean, maybe the guys glasses weren't quite perfect but at least it wasn't ugly...
Jrezky Good point.

i’ve always wondered what Kyle’s tattoo looked like healed. and i felt so bad for the lady who was tattooed / tattoo subject , from what i remember, the old lady cried from everyone’s critiques :(
Ohw poor grandma, she seems such a nice happy grandma
Same with me. When I watched that episode, I was tearing up seeing everyone judging that tattoo and saying she looked like Leatherface because that is just not okay to say that in front of that person.
Oh that makes me sad to hear 😞 I think it was a good tattoo. Maybe a bit “too” accurate but I dont think it was bad.
@@talynhastime9343 its not the worst tattoo ever but it suffers some mistakes that you can get away with in a drawing but maybe not a tattoo. Tattoos with heavy detail might heal fine a few days after but a year or two later is when you really see how the tattoo set in because the skin never really stops growing. Lines slowly fade over time but they can also kind of stretch and bleed and that can make fixing something without making it too dark a bit harder. If you look up aged tattoos 10-15 years later- you can see how much a tattoo can change over time!
@Vicar Amelia It looked like leatherface fresh, healed it's way better.
What was Jesse thinking? First of all he squeezed the picture together then used the worst color on her face and made her black 😂
The first thing I thought was that he changed her race
The fact that Roland made it THAT FAR, even after the vomity cat tattoo from day 1, is insane.

I think the judges focused too hard on perfect accuracy rather than aesthetics. Who cares if you perfectly replicate a photo if the result just is not flattering?
Kruseman's tattoo looked like it suffered a stroke. That suit detailing saved it and it shouldn't have. It was a portrait challenge and that wasn't it.
RIGHT! If I was to get a portrait I care about if it looks like the person. Fuck the detail! I was so heated! Ink Master can be so sexist at times 🙄

I have studied graphic design and I'm still trying to understand what he expected there to happen when he fattened her face to bend around the curve. It absolutely makes no sense. Such a weird choice.
In particular when the canvas deliberately said, that he didn't want that to happen.
None of the ink masters know basic anatomy so they're not jack of all trades.
@@antiochorontes6374 ikr. This show isnt exactly reputable. You can go to your local shop and find better artists than most of these contestants.

not really, most bc of social media most tattoo artists are allowed to specialize and cultivate their own aesthetic, tattoo artists only needed to do everything back when there weren’t as many avenues to see a tattoo artists work before you walk in.

While watching this show I've noticed that the judges have a major bias against the female tattooers.
They also have a tendency to pick favorites and give free passes to certain tattooers when they deserve elimination.

Hahaha that judge thinking slightly off glasses is worse then the old lady picture that looks like you turned sharpness on max in photo edit
It’s so humble of Dave Navarro to not quite comprehend why a girl would want a tattoo of his face! He’s a freaking rock star, and not hard on the eyes at all if you catch my drift 😹
If you rub off the eye on the stencil couldn't you just use the same stencil and trim just the eye so that you can place a new one over it? Genuine question Haha I'm not a tattoo artist
_I was wondering that too. I guess not lol_
you can :) and he probably did that since the eye is kinda accurate
I figure he couldn’t do it bc of the time limit
It'd be difficult to get it in perfect placement.
Why don't any of them ever say "OMG, I can't believe I did that to this poor canvas" instead of "oh no, this could throw Me Me Me out of the competition?" And for those unfamiliar with portraiture (and they all seem to be), you don't copy the photo exactly, you do an interpretation. They already have a thousand photos. That's the sign of a rank amateur, tattoo, oil or acrylic, and it's usually disastrous. Like the military guy with the lip liner and crooked eyes (all the judges noticed was the wonky nose and the medals).
The guy himself had crooked eyes on the picture. And his face was melting into his chest in the original picture too thats why they didnt rip into those details the guy had a busted reference and he executed it bustedly accurate
How did the portrait of dave end up in the bottom? That thing was gorgeous
