The way he talks about it, and the way you can see his mind working to explain technical aspects of a tattoo shows he’s put in the time and loves what he does.
I saw Pony when he was reacting to youtuber tattoos but never knew he was THIS GOOD. It's both realism and graphic at the same time. One of my favourite styles. If I lived in the US I'd let this man do a body suit on me. You follow Pewds but now you got a new follower, squadfam.
I just watched this. Pony Lawson...this guy is something special. I have never, ever, seen portraiture done so well,so good, where you have almost a actual picture. I've seen so many wonky, fuct up portraits of kids and such, but this guy truly, in every sense of the word, is an artist. GOD, how I wish I could afford to have sleeves or a back piece done by someone of this high of a talent, this is absolutely incredible.
Its always really interesting watching portrait artists make stencils bc sometimes they stencil by lines or rings or sometimes it looks like static that only the artist can understand. Like for neotrad or japanese, stencils are normally line work with spots to show contrast or where color gradients should be i just think thats really interesting
It's so refreshing hearing someone talk about a topic and not just spew opinionated/biased bs. Easy to tell when someone not only has knowledge, but is also passionate about it. Respect
Omg lady Gaga 😍😍😍This is beautiful work. I would love to get a portrait done by him. That ice cube is jumping off their body as he's tattooing. Wow this guy is worth every penny.
My reason for a portrait was one for my oldest son that passed away. I probably wouldn't have a portrait if not for that reason. Probably my tattoo that means the most to me. So yes, there are good reasons for getting one.
Pony!!!!! You are amazing!!!! I’ve had tattoos done by you in your apprenticeship days and cherish them because of the memories they represent sand of how far you’ve come!! I want you to do a portrait on me and I have one in particular of my grandmother but she’s still kickin so when she’s called home I’ll get that photo and get ahold of you, it’s black and white by the way! Keep on keeping on.. YOUR WORK IS EPIC!!
Because I’d have to get the picture from my mom and with as much money as he charges per hour it will be worth it but will have to wait. Plus I’ve planned on doing it as a memorial tattoo for her, for the last 4 years since I’ve had the idea in my head. And i still have to decide placement and size because i also want to add lettering and years to it
My nephew started getting “homemade” shitty tattoos behind his moms back. I’m tattooed so I chewed him out and started taking him to a reputable tattoo artist to get tatted with his mother’s permission to keep him from getting shitty tattoos that could potentially give him hepatitis!
You’re a good auntie. Reminding tattoo is a wound that can be a risky endeavor is an important lesson. I have many scratcher and professional tattoos and the most import is hygiene and caring for your wound.
When I think about learning this style of tattooing it scares the shit out of me everytime. I see these beautiful pieces these amazing artist manage to craft; it's so daunting with all of the hard work and detail put in, but pushing my art to new heights everyday..thanks Ink'd for the inspiration. Now if I could just leave my house to find that apprenticeship😅
Beautiful his art his passion the actual knowledge and things he has learned over the years just really made me appreciate that he appreciates the art in all aspects 👏💙💚💜
Tbvh this taught me a lot! I feel very educated in the subject now and feel confident! I really hope one day (eventually) I will be at the level of amazing portrait skills like him and other!! :) I love you guys!!!!
I don't know if people actually notice the difference, but this guy is really good at portraits. I'm an artist and I'm annoyed by the amount of portrait tattoos that are labeled as good or great, but it is clear that the shadow tones and values aren't right. That's probably why portrait tattoos have such a bad rep. This man here manages to pretty much hit the values straight on, or, as I noticed, takes some values away and manages to change it so that the tattoo looks more realistic. Because values on the photos sometimes won't look good, if they are the same on the tattoo. He's not just good at tattooing and copying photos, he's good at art.
That's cool. Seeing how much tattooing as a whole has progressed in the past 19 years since I got my first. Always reading about the old-timers and the new kids that you knew were going to be legends - Paul, Nikko, Bob,. Scott Glazier, Juli Moon and so many more. Nikko is a powerhouse these days. Besides Oliver Peck, Chris Nunez and the winner of that season's Ink Master, my 68 straight edge clean canvas Mother even knows who Nikko is.
Damn this dude's got some serious skills! I would be scared to get a portrait from any artist I personally know, but I'd wait for years to go get some work done by him! Very, very impressive work my man!!😉👌 Oh and btw... Milli Vanilli??... love this guy even more now!😅
@inked you guys should make a video where artist critique subscribers ink! im really curious to what some of the high end artist have to say about my tattoos and other local talent..would be awesome!
Love this guy... he is honest...and he tells it how it is. Most high-profile Tattooists started that way... with a $20 machine in the Garage etc. And there is absolutly no shame in that.... but if you get the chance for an apprenticeship... fucking do it :)
And honestly, as someone who got a cheap portrait as their first "big" tattoo, a. don't do that, b. don't get it in heavy black and c. if you do make both of my mistakes, make it something recognizable even if the face isn't. I have the cover of Elvis Costello's "This Years Model" on my arm, it ultimately really doesn't look a whole lot like him, but the whole scene w the hands on the camera and everything tells enough of the story that the people who would recognize it, recognize it anyways. I get stopped by all matter of aunts and uncles (80s baby) to compliment me on it ;)
The way he talks about technique and lighting you can tell he's an actual Artist
Yea i felt tht
didn’t think someone who’s not an artist could tattoo

so much talent only at 9 year old

Yung Houseplant fr tho. Sometimes I’ll see a stencil and wonder how tf that became a sick ass portrait.
His stencil was made with a thermo copier
It’s all about marking highlights midtones and dark tones that’s all there is to it.
ZERO DEATHS!
Shout out Pewds for that hoodie!!!

Wow that Gaga portrait is gorgeous 😍😍

There's a whole lot more than hepatitis he could get from any less than a licensed artist.
He could get HIV, he could go blind- he could even die.
