When I got my Shield+ OR, I had just moved and didn’t have my shop setup, I ended sending my slide out to a shop who ground down the lugs for $25. It cost another $10 total for shipping round trip but totally worth it, my 507K co-witnesses with the standard height sights perfectly.

If the front of the optic is sitting up higher than the back:
On the bottom of my Holosun 407k there was some silicone attached. I assume to help with shock absorption. I needed to scrape that off in order for the sight to fit flush. Take a razor blade and scrape it flush to the body of the optic. That tiny amount of silicone made it so the sight would not seat.

It's funny to me that everyone wants the manufacturers to standardize on one footprint, which they basically *did* for the subcompacts with the RMSc. Then holosun makes one or two new optics that everyone likes better, and now we all need plates to run the new optics. We are a long long way away from footprint standardization...

Cost of goods sold is usually a small percentage of the value chain with consumer goods. Marketing is usually the largest cost by far. Try this experiment: make your own adapter plates for $1 each. See how many you sell without doing any marketing -- i.e., zero. Now start paying for advertising, retailer commissions and so on. Very quickly you will be spending far more than $1 per plate getting your goods to market. Now think, would you also like a profit in exchange for all your work, and all the risk you are taking investing your time and money into this venture?
