    Hey Scaler developers.. thanks so much, truly, for continuing to make the best prototyping plugin on the planet even better. Honestly, Scaler is the best plugin I own because it saves me so much time and sparks ideas that I would have never thought of on my own. Thank you a million times! Amazing stuff! I've used Scaler so far just to propose me interesting chords and inversions, or chord progressions (modulations) - a sort of harmonic theory built-in without the need for me to know it. Instant results and much fun. Yet here the powerfullness of some basic guitar arpeggios on top of those chords (ah, the borrowed chord...) are really enchanting. Scaler, with regular updates, is blowing out all my previous midi arp and chorders, it is getting so much more powerful.
    The tutorial video is well built. I started with Scaler 2, but I found useful to watch also the Scaler 1 videos you did 3 years ago, when you watch the videos chronologically you understand much better. I suggest you to put / link them all in one place on the website, some newcomers might find some passages too fast.

    You know what would be amazing?! If you guys incorporated intervals in the melody section and have it say which intervals evoke which emotions and then have melody presets from there. Or at least the note that starts that interval. Also, can you do string ostinatos that go along with the chords within Scaler?

    Thank you for all the tutorials. I have a problem: I’m trying to use Scaler with NI guitar plugins (acoustic, strummed, electric vintage or sunburst) but when I bind the chords to keys, I’m not getting the different chords. Instead, I’m getting some of the chords and many of the wood tapping or mute sounds of the lower controller octave guitar effects for the guitar effects. How does it work?

    At 9:58 you hit a key that triggers a chord in Scaler and Scaler then plays the distorted guitar VST. In one of those chords the VST automatically does a performed (fretted) slide up to the higher notes in the pattern. How would I go about accomplishing something like that? I have a few guitar VSTs and would love to learn how to have that behavior automatically.

    • @SchoolofSynthesis
      @SchoolofSynthesis  Год назад +1

      Hi , I think in this instance Davide has used a Kontakt guitar library (Electric Sunburst Deluxe from NI) that responds to velocity (how hard you hit the key) with high velocity triggering the slide. Lots of different guitar libraries behave in this manner. Hope that helps.

    Can you change the duration of a chord just for one chord? I'm struggling to get the rhythm I want because I have chord duration in settings set to 1 beat and all chords with a 4x duration. But for one chord, I want to give it a 3x duration with it repeating once. The issue is, after that note plays, the next one comes in much later than I want it to come in.

      That's a question for the Cubase Developers. Midi FX plugin as becoming the norm so I think its only a matter of time that DAW developers will better integrate them. I believe Scaler developers are building something that will overcome this.......

  • @alainpatry
    @alainpatry 2 года назад +1

    I wish that in Cubase, using Scaler with a Kontakt instrument was as easy as dropping Scaler in as a MIDI insert, like you do here in Logic Pro. Instead, we have to create a scaler track for each performance IN ADDITION TO the related instrument track for the sound to be played. So we end up with double track count.

    • @SchoolofSynthesis
      @SchoolofSynthesis  2 года назад

      We would love to see DAWs employ a similar midi control setup for Logic. Ableton has a similar setup to Cubase but in a way in Logic you are loading Scaler and an Instrument just on the one channel.

    • @LightWingStudios
      @LightWingStudios 2 года назад +1

      True during "development". When you're finished, just delete the Scaler MIDI track you used to drive it. MIDI tracks take up virtually no resources except track count.

    • @francescocarosone5943
      @francescocarosone5943 2 года назад +1

      I'm also in Cubase, with the VST spec it's a pity that we have double tracks, I agree with you, it practically stops me from putting many instances of Scaler in my session. When we want to play Scaler together with other arps/midi players (i.e. ReMIDI as in another video, or a more complex arpeggiator) we have double tracks for those as well, since they all are treated as vst instruments. Yet consider also the upside: you may put the controlled instrument track into record and have the midi chords recorded there realtime without waiting for the MIDI record within Scaler: they can't do that in Audiounits hosts!
