I cannot thank enough the developers for this plugin. It provides creative freedom for all the people who have the song in their head, but never had the opportunity of receiving music theory education. Thank you!
That's exactly how I feel about it and the purpose it serves for me in my day to day composition. Thank you.
oh i never thought of it that way... bela fleck had said once that he carries a small voice recorder always on him incase he starts humming a tune in his mind he will humm the tune into his recorder always, and try to put it into banjo chords when he gets home... could do the same thing with scaler.
Never had the opportunity? Or just too lazy?
Literally every musician on earth has the ability to learn music theory.
You either do.. or you don't. No such thing as "an opportunity" to learn music theory.
Thank you. Great tutorial unlocking an extreme amount of useful capabilities. No "BUYERS REMORSE" here....
"This feature" - cool
"That feature" - nice
"Another feature" - awesome
"Umm...I'm going to pull out the keyboard for this, so you can actually see what I'm doing here"
(Pulls the keyboard tray out, and slides the desktop back) - WOAHHHH!!!!!
Seriously, lovely work on version two. Much appreciated
Wow! The sync button. That's fantastic
Game changing. Has to be the most impressive update I’ve ever known between versions of any software. Congratulations to all involved and keep up the great work.
I've always liked using Scaler, but this new version is beyond anything else out there.
Just purchased Scaler 2. It's fantastic ! Strepitoso !
I think this is the best composition software I've seen so far, you're light years ahead of all the competition. Bravo to the whole team! Epic work. Thanks so much to all of you!
Thanks very much. We do not take the support for granted.

Hi David any update on the guitar side ?

Guitar focus! SOLD!!!!
Superb creative tool that just keeps getting better! Top notch!
This is such an excellent plugin. Total game changer.
This software is like a magic door into music composition and possibilities. Thank you for making it.
I set out to find a simple plugin to show me what chord I was playing, because I felt like that would be a different but effective way of learning.
Got Scaler 2 and not only did it do what I wanted (I can change a note/finger in the chord position and SEE immediately that it makes it a "minor", for instance.)
But it does WAAAY more than I anticipated. I can start playing a few chords and the plugin will show me other chords that will work with those.
Fantastic!
Often times I "paint" my MIDI notes out, but it is fun to just play around using key binding (a single key press will play a chord).
That alone is more than enough for me... but then we get into the PERFORMANCE section, and that takes it to a whole new level.
I know some may consider it "cheating" but for those of us who missed out on proper music education, it's a great way to accomplish something that sounds "right", while learning a little music theory along the way.
Great to hear, it's a fantastic path to discovery. Thanks for supporting and join the community over at forum.scalerplugin.com
Nice, thanks!
What a totally amazing creation !
I can’t believe I’ve only now gotten hip to how amazing Scaler is. Just picked it up- my composition workflow just leveled up exponentially. Add to that the amazing, clear and cogent content you provide and I feel like I got a huge steal for the price. Thank you!!!
Thank you for the support Embers, its a great community and we all dearly love scaler. Enjoy the journey!

Yeah I just downloaded this thing. I am a bass player that knows music theory, but I struggle with keys and good voicings. This thing is unlocking so many compositional possibilities and sounds. Within a few hours of messing around and watching these tutorials I am able to come with stuff that actually sounds like really inspiring music!
The more of these extremely valuable videos one sees, the more you realize what an absolute monster this software is, incredibly deep and powerful. A total eye opener in terms of just how valuable this is to anyone who prefers to jump right into composing/creating without being bogged down by having to learn music theory, whilst at the same time learning about music theory.
Hi Davide, this software is just awesome & inexpensive. Your instructions are also great and your delivery language is to all skill levels without elitist judgement despite the fact that you are world famous and your collaborative team also. I get extra national pride because you are an Aussie company taking it to the world. Thank you for this light in a darkened, Plague filled lockdown world, just champions!
Thanks Steve lovely feedback - passed on! Take care.
Watching this again after 3 months. Well worth it. This software has the potential to raise the bar for music collectively the world over - especially with the modulation tools. Unreal.
It's plain beautiful! Thank you @Plugin Boutique and @Scaler teams!
I’m ready for part 2! Excellent video.
Good demonstration this video. All the others on RUclips are bollox for scaler 2. This one inspires me.
Lots of hidden features, real gems! Thank you for your explanation
This software is so powerful and useful it makes me dizzy just thinking of how much it could help my production pipeline.
This is honestly the most intuitive and humanized plug in I’ve ever seen. Graduated from the most prestigious music college in the world, I’m completely blown away by how ridiculously intelligent this plugin is, and Trust me on this, scaler is saving all of you guys at least one third of our tuition (which covers 90% of the courses that are core music focused) and that’s biiiig bucks. The fact that this team has dedicated so much of their knowledge and expertise into this wise tool most thoughtfully while still sell it at a more than reasonable price is crazy to me (just think about all of those $50 5 knobs reverb plugins for christ’s sake) Mad respect to you and the entire Scaler team sir, musicians much like yourselves is one of the main reasons why I think music is the most freakin’ cool and awesome thing in the entire universe. The way I’m seeing it, this plugin is by far the best gap eliminating machine between the “Professionally Trained” and the “Enthusiasts”, some humanitarian legacy right there. After all music is an art, and this tool is going to give so many the freedom to solely focus on art and the feelings it provoke, not mathematics (what music theory fundamentally is). Plus these tutorials really show how much they care about their creation and the users, just simply amazing. Wishing you guys all the abundance and fulfillment in this vibrant Tiger Year, cheers! - Some random female producer.
Thank you for taking the time to post such encouraging words and feedback. We couldn’t agree more and Davide, Edouard and the rest of the scaler team will read and appreciate the feedback. Lots more improvements to come from scaler.
@@SchoolofSynthesis Glad that you were able to see this comment cuz you deserve every bit of our appreciation!! 🙏🏻💜 Sending all of you love and good vibes and I’ll be there for all updates going forward (plus spread the good words whenever I can✌🏻🥳
Very impressive, I'm musically educated guitar player and know the chords, but this is still extremely handy and I can learn a lot of it.
Very well covered all the stuff, yes sir.
Great demonstration of all those little things. Wow, such a powerful tool!
I appreciate every video
More to come. We appreciate you watching 🙏
10/10 great vid, really looking forward to the performance vid.
Covered quite a bit more here and enjoyed it very much.
I was just thinking - whoever designed and programmed Scaler is a fantastic team, wonderful workflow and usability. THEN... these tutorials are brilliantly delivered, so clear, nicely shot, and packed to the brim with useful info. Bravo.
Lovely feedback thank you!
That's very encouraging feedback and great to hear thank you so much.
Thank you. I am in awe of all the thought that has gone into the creation of this plugin.
takes me way back to theory classes! i’ve forgotten so much - this could really help me find all that lost info! ty
Ok...I am sold! Got to pick this up for sure. Many thanks for your incredible and informative series on this program. Please keep them coming.
I loved version 1 and version 2 is 10 times better. It will not disappoint you. I use Scaler practically on every composition I do.
Thanks for supporting my several questions--just purchased the SOS Scaler course!
Wow....I learned a lot on this video. Thanks and I look forward to seeing more instructional videos on Scaler 2.
Superb plug in. Especially useful for non-musicians [such as myself].
I just bought it on the back of your tutorials. Although you make it look simple, it's still quite a lot for me to get my little head around. However, even after 30 minutes, I was able to put together my first ever half-decent chord progression.
Congrats to Plugin Boutique! Didn't realize you are in my old stompin' ground. The only boutique I remember from the good old days is the Big Beat Boutique!
I started music a few short months ago with Instascale, then upped the ante to Instachord and now finally, your product. Having tried demos on various versions of your competition, I can categorically say, that in my humble opinion, Scaler 2 is BY FAR the best & most user friendly of them all.
Looking forward to becoming the next Mozart of Drum n Bass !!!
That was brilliantl, have saved it in my favourites and will go through them all, so cool
Thanks for that. It was really informative 💙
This is another great video tutorial about this marvelous and very useful Composer App. And I thank you David and all the team for this great work.
Simply outstanding development work. Well done and thank you !!
Awesome explanation. GREAT PLUGIN!!!
THANK YOU! My ultimate goal in using Scaler 2 is to organically learn more about music theory on a deep level. However the exciting possibilities you demonstrate within this video make it something of an irresistible writing tool that I want to explore at the same time. Thanks! :-)
You are already on your way. That's how we all use it ✌️
Great and useful video - thank you very much
Drag and drop from Scaler to Scaler... that is very useful if changing from Midi Fx 👌🏾

Very useful things, clearly explained, straight to the point. Thank you.
I have the feeling of lifting the veil on a magical universe hidden from amateurs.
The export / import feature is very nice. Reminds of a preset mechanism.
there's loads more to go trough !!!??? this video just blew my mind, i already use scaler as my favourite midi plugin but here you've surpassed scaler !! great tutorial thanks you
Thank you for the support
Good video!
thanks for such wonderfull video mate... GOD BLESS you...
I love your desk.. i am gonna have one like that :D
Wow. I had no idea it could do so much. Bought it ages ago but I've barely scratched the surface.
Amazing
Literaly speechless !!!
The MIDI FX function is really convenient. Most other DAWs require routing from Scaler's output to the VSTi's, input which means using 2 instrument tracks. With this MIDI FX option you only need 1 instrument track.
Yes but at the same time logic midi fx sucks because it don’t work with multi output tracks like with kontakt. Using multi out to save cpu is handy and midi fx only works on single track. If routing out to an instruments input was possible in logic could use scaler 2 with multi out
@@tylerhill6706 Good point...
I am so impressed with this software. I always appreciate software that has been thoughtfully crafted with attention to detail. For that Scaler 2 gets 11 out of 10.
Scaler2 definitely goes to eleven :)
Terence Kearns agreed it is a special plug in that’s for sure
These are some of the best tutorial videos that I have seen the support is as great as the product
Outstanding 👍
Thank you very kind words
great tool
Astonishing application, never realized how capable it is.
Future feature request.. Please incorporate options to improve visibility, perhaps a tab menu at the top that would give a full page to work with each section. Would love be have that amazing monitor However even if I did it would be nice for laptops..
As a guitarist it would also be very cool to have a realistic fretboard with highlighted chords and melodies to transpose Scalers magic for guitar tabs.
All inbound. Stay tuned.
Wow thata amazing translation which Scaler can do with progressions.....
Looks like its more than Melodyne ....i am.too sure cos i am got these software...thanks .
This is awesome .... serious development under the hood going on there. Well done Scaler2 Team!
As an aside .. what is the pad you're using instead of a mouse? That looks very RSI Friendly
Magic Trackpad 2 from the 2019 MacPro
Scaler 2 🔥🔥🔥👍
Great info on a fantastic plugin - one suggestion though... that "felt piano' is far too subtle of a sound to be able to clearly hear what's going on for demos. It's actually kind of strange that you can customize almost everything - except - for the default sound... unless, I'm completely missing something ;-) Please add a setting for selecting your preferred "default instrument".
Oh I really wanted to get my hands on Scalar..
This plugin has been such a wonderful writing tool and it's helping me learn theory as I go. The chords I like to hear go way beyond my theory training, and it's awesome to be able to quickly put a name to a particular sound and start to make connections. Bravo! Do you think it's possible to offer the same B-block chord voicing menu in the C block, so transformations on the progression can be quickly auditioned instead of just for the currently selected scale? I know it's possible to do quick inversions with the editor, but I think the voicings are doing more than inverting the chords.
Thanks for feedback we will pass it on, join the community over at scalerplugin.com to share your ideas.
Классный плагин! 👍🏻
Scaler is a really nice tool, very musical and the first midi tool in my opinion that the results sounds like “music”. I think Scaler has a potential to be even better, more music themes, bass lines, melodies tools and so on 🙏
Funny you should say that. In the next two weeks time we will launch a first look video here of scaler 2.2. Music themes, bass lines, melody tools.
I think an improvement could be that the suggested chords could include both minor and major options. And also different key chords that can be commonly used as most songs use a combination of major and minor chords.
Maybe this can be done and i don’t know how to do it but i feel its the only thing that lets scaler down on a near perfect plugin
Davide I would like to know what desk you are using (manufacturer or custom built perhaps) and what main Keyboard (with the individual key lights) under the pullout you are using. That set up is super functional and looks great.
Custom build from a guy who doesn't make them anymore sadly, the keyboard is a Komplete Kontrol 88!
Thanks Davide...please do "go on and on" any time you are in the mood.
😊My friends would say 'please don't' !!!!!!!
A useful video, I am still only touching the basics of this plugin which is probably a waste of my money. Thanks!
Never a waste of your money, if you have a remote interest in making music Scaler will reward you, if only for learning scales and chords. Join the community over at scalerplugin.com to get the most out of it
@10:00 Perhaps burying the super interesting detailed chord edit discussion in the multi scaler update
scene update feature. It's somewhat hard to read active keys off the S2 keyboard widget.
Compare to Logic chord play midi device with its small dots below keys. Thanks!!
@11:16 Oh, I now see the shift-click for enhanced voicing visibility on reviewing
EXCELLENT VIDEO! I am really enjoying learning how to use Scaler and I am impressed with all the features. I have a couple of questions. Since I am using Ableton Live I had to adapt some of what you showed in the video and it all went well. In one instance, when you showed the Playback Performances, around the twenty minute mark, you could assign an individual performance to each chord but I could only assign one performance (like arpeggio) to the entire progression, In the left column my Scaler shows only "Group". Also, is there a back button or function, so that when I try a chord substitution and do not like it I can just go back to my original chord? Thanks.
Hi, click on the group dropdown and assign it to an individual group and now that chord can feature any changes! Check this ruclips.net/video/28hDr7NNKQ8/видео.html and join the community over at forum.scalerplugin.com
@@SchoolofSynthesis Thanks. Simple. I will watch your other video(s) and I will join the community.
Really nice. Is there a way to add additional performance patterns?
Not at this stage but customisability on the way!
Great video. I'm new to scaler and I must admit it's growing on me. I'm now playing with the trial version but I haven't been able to figure out how to change the key of a detected set of chords. Is there a quick way to transpose all the chords lined up in the first section or in the pattern section? Thanks.
There is a button on the left side of the section that says "ST" (for semitone) with arrows on each side. If you press the arrows it will shift the whole progression a semitone up or a semitone down. Hope that helps!
@@arnocyreus3029 Excellent, thanks a lot!
Just love Scaler 2 is revolutionary for non musicians
Whats the fastest/efficient way to enter known chords from a guitar chart? Other than to use detect and play them? Like a C9sus4 or G-/Bb?
Try going to CHORD mode and pressing any key and selecting from the suggestions. Or press more than one key to get closer to your chord or enter an entire chord key for key. Hope that helps. Head over to forum.scalerplugin.com for more help from our users.
Next video will be exploring Modulation please
Will the software show scales, chord variations and voicings on a guitar fretboard?
Hey is that a mackie onyx 1640i back there on your desk? Quite fond of mine, don't see them around that often! Has a nice musical warmth in my opinion.
Indeed, probably should be replaced to be fair but is clean and sturdy and has decent mic pre's.
is there a voicing for guitar structured chords? Amazing video BTW!
There is a detailed fretboard and there is a major overhaul being led by a world leading guitarist, stay tuned exciting things!
I can't speak for scaler, but a lot of modern guitar virtual instruments will auto-voice chords to suit guitar. I use an AmpleSound guitar VSTi
I would pay even more for a version of Scaler that plays guitar voicing and strumming.
Can the time signature be changed on the presets?
HI, i didn't quite get how you got to change to the chord edit nmkmode when you changed one of the chords to Dmaj7. I can't seem to get to that mode. It's at 9.50 mins into the video. Thanks
Hold Shift and click on any chord to go to chord edit mode. Or hit the + sign. Chord edit mode is all new in the latest version. See the 2.1 update video in this playlist ruclips.net/video/Dw8KwFFR_iY/видео.html
Hi Davide,
Can this quick method be duplicated in protools with the way protools works?
I’m trying to think of a way to be able to do this without making so many tracks of scaler to control another kontakt instrument like the way you are doing here in logic via midi Fx but in Protools.
I really like the way that we can open many 'scaler windows,' but I'm wondering how much CPU power is being use for that process? At any rate, I like the option just the same!
Scaler is not CPU intensive. You can easily open many scalers without a significant hit on any reasonably modern CPU
Is there a back or undo/redo option and does it apply to DAW actions with multiple instances? Sorry when you moved the GUI down i saw them along the top !! Thanks anyways :)
Great Vid
there is an UNDO and REDO in EDIT mode
@@SchoolofSynthesis Yes I Know
Just got this plug still learning it but- how to EXPORT scalers chords to a Midi track where is shows all the notes?
Many ways to do this @Andy. You can drag and drop, you can midi capture you can export all from the progression builder down the bottom or you can drag any chord from anywhere straight to the DAW.
