Every video I watch that features Davide makes me happy to own Scaler and I try to tell others about it as he and the others who work on this tool deserve our support.
This was great. As I (slowly) pick up on everything Scaler 2 does, this is a terrific way to learn. Thank you.
The ability to hear chords without knowing where they are & physically play them. It is all about the ears isn’t it? Amazing program …
Thank you David for this excellent and informative video. It's great that you explain Scaler2 in different contexts. - Best greetings to the scaler 2 Team.
Thank you and thanks from the team for using Scaler
Thanks Davide for making this video. The entire process of composing music using Scaler is informative and inspiring. I particularly liked the suggest feature of Scaler. My best wishes for scaler development and happy New year to you and your team.
Happy New Year to you too Sanjay. Hope you have a great 22 with Scaler 2!
Scaler 2.5 letsgooo!
bookmarked this video for later reference, thanks again.
This is such an amazing video showing the power of technology and music production. I know A.I. is a big push that may eliminate the human "middle man" in music production but this still shows how important the human touch is even with all these amazing tools like Scaler. The human (i.e. Davide) selection of the chord progression, various sounds and software instruments (i.e. Kontakt) and the orchestral song structure coupled with the technology made a great piece of music for that game...in under an hour. WOW!!!!!
HI Matthew thanks for the feedback and good vibes. Yes we agree totally there is a place for AI but alongside it there is also a place for human emotion. Scaler has always tried to help people express the latter. There are some major developments for Scaler in 2024. Exciting times!
Excellent! Many thanks for a practical example of the power of Scaler.
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video, we are planning a follow up to this....
Another really enjoyable video Davide. Please keep them coming. Scaler is a fantastic plugin.
More to come!
Hey Davide, thanks so much for your work. I just wanted to share an idea I had for Scaler 3: what about adding a fourth view/mode (so piano, pads, guitar tabs and this) that shows the chords in a grid like an actual DAW? Maybe combining that with the pad view.. I believe some producers will feel more comfortable just looking at chords as if they were in their Daw already inside Scaler. Plus, it would also be educational because we would see the variations, inversions and such in Scaler and we would teach our brain to visually recognize those more quickly when we work with midi of other plugins.
There is a major iteration of Scaler scheduled for 2022. I think you will see some great things and the DEVs have promised us this kind of functionality so we are very excited.
@@SchoolofSynthesis WOW, Looking forward to it.
Solid suggestions.
Well done! More Scaler knowledge. Brilliant!
Thank you!
I did not know about that key lock feature. Very cool!😀
Scaler is an excellent tool, awesome video too 👏
These videos are extremely helpful in learning more functions and workflow. Thanks 🙏
Glad they are useful thanks for supporting our channel and supporting scaler 2
So inspiring! I learned so much from this clip. Thanks heaps mate and hope there will be more stuff like this!👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes indeed more to come.
This is great! Just discovered this channel and am looking forward to scaling through the rest of your catalogue!
Hope you enjoy it!
I just bought scaler yesterday and I am super excited to start using it. My knowledge of music theory is very limited, but this just seems so intuitive to work with that I feel confident to be able to create some lovely chord progressions.
Glad you've joined the scaler community, there are many of us and we love Scaler dearly. work your way though our playlist and you will learn lots ruclips.net/p/PLCy2m2n0N8QrslPwt7io36Rs2bU1-oBW-, plus don't forget the manual and the onboard video tutorial links. Finally head over to the wonderful community of scaler users whom are very nice and helpful forum.scalerplugin.com
great job
Thank you so much for your videos.
You are most welcome thanks for using Scaler!
Terrific. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and supporting Scaler 2
great stream i loved it
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice one.
Thank you for this
No problem 😊 Thank you for watching
Just found you channel!
Hey Davide,
Can you make another work flow video that is more orchestral? Curious to see how you build a piece like that with scaler and Kontakt instruments etc.
Thanks again for all your videos.
Davide,
Great videos can’t wait to see the new Scaler this year. I was wondering if you could show us quickly in ProTools, how to properly setup scaler as you do in logic.
Just as you do midi FX to control other instruments.
thanks again
Hi Jason have you seen shrtm.nu/4R6I or forum.scalerplugin.com/t/setup-protools-external-instrument-control/122
@@SchoolofSynthesis Thank You
Davide,
Correct me if I am wrong here maybe I am not seeing it.
But the major drawback I see in protools routing is the fact that you don’t have MidiFX control like you do in logic tracks.
So you can’t just drag and drop midi to another track with a third party plugin to control because you have to make another scaler track then route that to another track in order to control that plug-in sound?
I am referencing what you were able to do in your video
titled “all the little things”.
Where you have one scaler track at the top then a few more tracks under with different third party kontakt instruments and created the main midi theme in scaler at the top.
and then copied that bound (one note)midi to the rest of the tracks that also had Scaler on them as a MidiFX to trigger within Scaler.
Seems to be a bit more involved because of the way it works in ProTools
more tracks to route to control and work in protools to compose as far as routing.
Or am I missing a trick to make this easier within protools or similar like in Logic?
Thanks again
The iPad version of the app is excellent!!!
Thanks Davide. Curious - you were in Ab yet when you KEYS LOCK and selected CHORD EXTENSIONS the notes showed #'s
Hi Bob, enharmonic notes really, Ab Major is enharmonically G# Major, generally in keys lock sharps are shown instead of flats as there is less likely hood of double flats (b) - short answer - same thing. Hope that helps.😀
@@SchoolofSynthesis appreciate that they are the same thing just thought visually the notes would reinforce the key that you are in. Super helpful video though - thanks.
how about an option to change the pugin color, so working in a session with multiple scalers they are easy to distinguish from each other?
Learn about the 7 modes and circle of 5ths as soon as you can and it'll complement the use of Scaler.
I'm currently using Synfire for all the composer's chores like reharmonizing melodies and stuff. Might give Scaler 2 a go though. Great video. *Thumbs up*
Hi David: Is the following possible with Scaler 2? For example, on the one hand I have a chord progression in the song key 'A MAJOR' and on the other hand a completely different chord progression in the song key 'A MINOR' . Now I want to create a transition between these two chord progressions. So from 'A major' song key to 'A minor' song key. Is this somehow possible with Scaler 2. (Sorry for my bad English, I'm German)
Yes absolutely check out the modulation video ruclips.net/video/5Ao8Qz4agbs/видео.html
Just watching to evaluate... Great video... are there any plans on octave +/- buttons to avoid jumping to different places?
Eventually yes the devs have regularly talked about the UX overhaul in development,
waiting
The demo is 1 GB !!! I wish they made a "Lite" version without all that hard drive space usage!
Thanks for this video. I just found out, that I completely missed the Scaler Control Plugin. I just double checked but I can't find it anywhere on my system. I installed the whole package. So what did I do wrong? Or is the Scaler Control exclusive to Mac? I am running a Win10 System.
Yes indeed Scaler Control is a MIDI FX plugin compatible with Logic Pro X. You can still control 3rd party VST's in all other DAWs using routing methods.
It could be a compatibility issue or maybe when you installed it you didn't install the correct plugin format (AAX for Pro Tools, VST for other DAWs). What DAW are you using? It worked fine for me on Cubase Pro 11x (Windows 10) as a VSTi (both VST2 and 3)
@@groseron I am on Studio One 5 Professional, I installed all options on the installer
Is it possible, to route the different notes of a chord to different midi channels, so that the notes can be played by different virtual instruments on different tracks without the need of more than one instance of scaler? That would be a great feature to emulate e.g. an ensemble or a big band
No. I keep asking though.
@@benhughes2355 Maybe an idea for upcoming updates...
Don't hold your breath 🙂
Like many things in Scaler they need to be done right so when we include a feature they work and make sense. Divisi / multi channel output is very important and you will see this feature in Scaler planned for Q4 2022. Stay tuned!
Hmmm. Not getting any 'Suggest Mode' button option as showing about here at 3.00. Any ideas?
Sure thing make sure you upgrade to version 2.5. It's a free upgrade for Scaler 2 owners. Go to your Account at the Plugin Boutique website, select scaler, dropdown menu and them download 2.5. See this vid:ruclips.net/video/eY6IuToCHaY/видео.html
@@SchoolofSynthesis Doh! Hadn't realised there'd been an update. Many thanks!
I use Studio One, how do you put new track in and copy scaler and instrument and not get the same result?
There are many ways to do this, I guess you are asking a workflow question. Click on the S top left and reset state on your new instance would be the easiest way. Check the community over at forum.scalerplugin.com for help from our users
how did you do to give play simultaneously in the video and daw?
Hi Eduh, not sure we understand the question could you rephrase? Thanks
In the video you play the music and video at the same time. Is it a feature of the software or a vst?
@@EduhDZN Ah ha we get you! Logic Pro X allows you to load a movie and sync with audio. Several other DAWs (like ProTools) have the same functionality
Thank you very much and sorry for not being clear before
How did you copy the chord at 5:25? It's likely something super simple but I was unable to figure it out myself lol
You can Option drag in OSX or Alt drag in windows (don't let go!)
@@SchoolofSynthesis Thank you good sir!
If you already recorded video why wait 10 days?
Thanks Nick, mainly Davide's availability and time to get scaler giveaways ready!
@@SchoolofSynthesis LOL, that's why Davide was able to type in the chat at the same time he was talking in the video - I was wondering about that, hahaha..
@@Aleamanic Perhaps it was just a marketing decision to hold the video back.
if you got such job it is supposed that you can create a chord progression without problems, otherwise leave it to whom masters it and learn with them. It will save you way more time than depending on a plug in like this.
This guy has been making music long before scaler came out, Look him up! I think he is a master!!!!
@@jmmusic013 i mean the viewer
So the only major difference between this and ripchord is the step programming to help you build the song
Sigh, wished I had the NI products for my sound source......only have Apple Logic Pro.
Try Spitfire Audio LABS - all free and some great instruments.
🧐Great program but respectfully...the workflow is not really user friendly.
My first impression was, where is the frikkin VOLUME controls???
It does a lot of useful things but for myself who mainly produces electronic/hip hop it is very cumbersome.
Thanks for feedback in a way scaler has become a victim of its own success,. it started as a simple program and has had over 200 features added into the same UI. I think the DEVs admit there has been an element of shoehorning features in and there is a complete redesign on the way! Hopefully with a volume control too!
@@SchoolofSynthesis ✅ Thanks for the response and I appreciate the innovation that you bring to the market.
sounds like hillsong church music
Mosiac? That's Mosaic, my dude.
My bad my dude it is indeed, sometimes helps to turn on the brain and have a think! Sorry HeavyO!
After six minutes I am still wondering when scaler will actually start to help rather than obfuscate and slow things down.
Give it a try. Many of the worlds top producers use it to speed things up. The more musical knowledge you have the more it can help!
All those instruments are not even in Komplete 13, right? Looks more like an ad for those hundreds of dollars instruments.
Thank you for helping me decide to never get this. I can see a use for it, instant gratification for children to introduce them to music making, but the creative process is ever evolving, and this feels like giving it away to an automaton.
Great for children indeed, I wish my kids would use it! Also good for many of the worlds young and experienced producers and composers who are leaders in their field. You should try it out, I just checked your website and your music and I think you could benefit from scaler.
You should try it, its a free demo download. Many of the worlds (young and old) leading producers and composers use it.
Thats how "Musicans" these days are...not really musicans, but user of plugins and tools....
Now now, they are musicians with a wider scope of ability thanks to tools like Scaler
Damn, these vids SoS are the most boring and less inviting to get Scaler!
More like cheater.
