This software scaler has become very useful sense it has been released. Keep the improvement updates going. I’m glad I purchased this software. Great Job!👍🏽👍🏽
Scaler has been my best tool for midi creation, better than captain plugin or orb composer or propellerhaeds players or song wish plugins & today, thanks to you David ... i've just found out that it has audio detection !!! & way more accurate than mixed in key plugin ... thanks for updating such an amazing tool !!!
Thank you Davide! As always really appreciate the way you impart your knowledges and tips using Scaler to us. And also the little details explaining, especially to people with less /without formal musical education.
Thanks Davide. I have only used the detection feature when trying to identify chords I have manually written, but need the explicit chord names for building out the rest of the track. I will try it out on audio files next. Great for remixing tracks by others and also great to use the guitar chords feature to then transcribe the chords back to guitar.
Many thanks for this Davide. I really like Scaler as it opens up so many creative possibilities. My own playing ability and musical knowledge does not match up to what I want to produce so Scaler allows me to create expansive and original chord voicings, progressions and variations. Using Scaler has certainly helped my workflow and I can start from taking sample audio from different instruments (bass, vocals, keys, etc) and come up with songs that flow within my selected key. I am a keen follower and look forward to discovering more as I only use a fraction of Scaler's potential.
I keep forgetting how good Exhale is, i have it too. Thanks for another Scaler Tutorial! I have been studying theory and it is really making a lot more sense. Scaler really helps learning theory too being so visual how I can visually put together chords. It is a great tool! one of the best plugins ever made
You might want to investigate what Forager VST and ReMIDI 3 can do as far as helping select chords with voice leading. In Forager's case, you can select a note or notes - pitches you would WANT included in the new chord (and even allow "loose matches" - one or more tones allowed to be OUT of scale in the chord), and it will display all the relevant chords in the chosen Key signature. For ReMIDI 3, you select the uppermost, and bottommost pitches (obvious important pitches harmonically in a progression since the uppermost is often the melody note and the bottom note played by the bass), and it will let you cycle through chord options easily to determine the chord you want. Of course, either will let you edit the chord afterwards to voice them as you desire, moving any of the notes around, dropping or duplicating them. There might be something in all of that for a future version that helps users build chord progressions based upon voice leading since Scaler doesn't expose those or let you specify certain note pitches to help narrow down chord choices. Great product already, one of the first to upgrade when you have a new release.
Really useful A & B section stuff. Have you ever made any content about how to get bridge or chorus ideas from a verse progression using Scaler? If not could you 😊
We have just created a video that does exactly that! Stay tunes you will see it here in the next few weeks! For now Davide has a good example here: ruclips.net/video/5Ao8Qz4agbs/видео.html
@@SchoolofSynthesis great look forward to it, the other link is interesting for sure but I guess only if you want to change key which I don’t think I usually do atm.
David, it seems like the chord that gets replaced by the suggested chord, should become the new suggested chord, instead of the one that follows. It would save a click 🙂
What kind of audio file is recommended: just loops with plain chords on piano or guitar and no bass, no voice, no drums? Or can we upload any song? What if I just upload a melody?
Hi Eric, you can try all kinds of files, Scaler does a good job of extrapolating the harmonic content, that is, the chords. At this stage Scaler is looking to detect chords and overall scale, that may change in the future where it could focus on detecting single notes and melody also
Yes Shane that's correct. Obviously being audio the result depends on how clear the harmonic content of the chords are in your reference tracks, if it's just the chords then that's better than chords, plus percussion, plus other musical content. Trial and error with audio really.
Hi, Can you look at when you do your next Scaler update, to include a Text Resize option in the USER DROP DOWN Menu, as when you start building your user sets the text is so small to see what sets you have. Many Thanks
@@SchoolofSynthesis Thank you for quick reply, If you could do a small code tweak, so your able to adjust Text size in Incroments that would be useful & benificial as you only get 3 options thus far. having the ability to resize to your needs would be a game changer. I hope you can tweak this as would be so useful moving forward
Hi David. I've purchased scarer2 and have no music theory knowledge. Can Scaler2 suggest chords to the melody of a song I wrote? I've sang the song in Logic and am wondering if the audio detection tool could suggests the key and chord progression? Thanks
It's there, depends on which DAW you are using. In Logic it needs to be loaded on to an audio channel. Scaler 2 as an audio instrument and Scaler 2 Audio as an audio plugin
If you are in Logic you need to arm the channel (click 'I' next to the record button) Otherwise use Scaler 2 as an Instrument on an instrument track. For any further help please visit our community forum.scalerplugin.com where there are thousands of helpful users always happy to help. Hope that is useful.

I used midi detection but the notes came up in small boxes which were undraggable. Then I tried using the bass patterns but changing to that made Scaler silent even when I had my FM 8 record armed. I hate this plugin sigh.
To be honest, I found this VERY disappointing. This video is also used as a "Creative Summary" for part two of the Scaler course by School of Synthesis. Not only is that fact somewhat of a cheat as you would expect material not old and publicly free available. Also the "musical" result here is really poor imho. Not only because of the massive use of ready-made material but also tastewise. And all those fancy Scaler tricks shown here ... do they *really* make a difference to just the chord detection??
@@wolfgang4468 Hey thanks for the feedback. The description above states 'This video is based on his 'Creative Summary Module 2' from the Scaler 2 Course' It's some sample content of the course and the only 28 mins of the 380+ minutes of the course that appears publicly. We may release another snippet or two later on down the track to be able to promote the course further. Hope that clarifies.
Scaler developers have been public about shoehorning to many features into a GUI that was designed to do a lot less. A victim of its own success in many ways. That will change in the future and stay tuned to this channel for some help there soon!
A BIG BRAVO to Scaler again!!!!!😀

Scaler is a game changer :) That said, the threshold slider needs to be bigger (more apparent).

Highly informative technique video as usual!

Amazing video! Around 20:00 though I don’t think the video is playing the 2nd pattern - it seems to play the same both times through?
It does see Davide creating the alternative pattern her ruclips.net/video/-HKJgiGPLIc/видео.html Last few chords are different

Nice !
I've just updated to scaler 2 and I can't see scaler audio in my plugin folder. Should I have 2 separate plugins?
It's there, depends on which DAW you are using. In Logic it needs to be loaded on to an audio channel. Scaler 2 as an audio instrument and Scaler 2 Audio as an audio plugin
Your links to both plugin boutique and app store don't work just thought you would like to know
Oops fixed thank you for spotting 🙏
@@SchoolofSynthesis no problem. glad to. have helped. Thank you for taking your time and teaching us. I appreciate it
When you say you side chained the second 8 bars, did that mean you side chained the bass to duck the kick drum?
Hi, I side chained all the chords used Xfer's LFO and a 1/2 note pattern although I could have sidechained of a kick too! Hope that helps.
Could you please translate this to Bitwig as Logic is totally hard to understand to make the same in Bitwig. Would appreciate. Thank you, Best rgds
realy cool are apple loops well detected?
Yes, all .aiff files are supported.
I can't get any sound out when i click on the chords within scaler. Using ScalerAudio and have it loaded as an Audio FX? Any thoughts?

How can you "write" the trigger notes in the instrument track (see around 11:00)?
Davide is just writing them in as MIDI Notes in Logic Pro X
