@Afrika Smith while I wouldn't condone mistreatment in this case, simply because it breeds more mistreatment and messed up people, the veterans who committed war crimes probably got off scott-free and is only now hearing anything about it... I think of the woman who aided in the muder of Emmett Till. Along with those who carried out the murder, she played a significant part in his cruel, premature death, yet was never punished for it. She's in her 80s/90s now, and her "trial" determined thst she would not go to jail for the part she played in her infamous crime. She deserved to make up for the jail time she should have served, even in her frail old age, especially because her views never changed. So if someone wanted to mistreat her for a crime she avoided being accountable for, I honestly couldn't blame them. The law failed to do so and this is a form of karma and an appropriate rejection of someone with inhumane values.

Why not strive for peace?

Leaders, who represent and amplify the voices of the people they lead, are subjugated to adjusting their personal interests with national the agenda, which is always changing and complex. The lack of everlasting peace is at the fault of everyone. Not just the world leaders.
Iroh is the living embodiment of everything a leader should be. Strong, determined and an authoritative presence. But also compassionate, honorable, just and benevolent. And he is also simply a great person to be around.

Uncle iroh is awesome I think after his son died he was forced by the tragedy to look at things more objectively (the invasion of ba-sing-sei the fire nation and himself) so when ozai took irou's birthright the throne uncle irou didn't care or try to flight it because he realized what's truly important that's why although he tries to guide zuko on a more positive path he was subtle in how he did so
I feel like considering his age when he became fire lord Zuko should have allowed Iroh to become Iroh to become Regent while he learned how to rule in an official sense

@@nicholascharles9625 Nah Iroh has no issue with Murder but he didn’t care about the throne as his son was dead that’s why he didn’t care about Ozai’s treachery as he was more focused on mourning for his son and even went to the spirit world to look for him. Remember Ozai was nothing apart from being a Fire Prince. Unlike Iroh. Iroh was Crown prince, General, Hero of the Fire Nation and Dragon of the West. He knew Ozai had done foul play and had way more support than Ozai could ever have. Ozai was Zuko basically while his father was around and that was something he projected onto his first born as he saw Azula as being more like him. Iroh chose his successor in Zuko.

I heard that Zuko asked Iroh to do that. I wish we could see it in an episode. Zuko is my favorite character. Especially in the new Avatar series Netflix made. I love how they just litked showed more of how Zuko felt when he was banished. We got more feelings of that from Zuko in just 3 episodes than we did in one season. I just watched episode 6 and can't wait to see how it ends. And am even more excited for season 2. And I just heard that they are releasing another cartoon series when they were in their thirties. I'm hoping it will be good and not boring. Perhaps we will get more explanation about those flashbacks that Korra had. And even what I've heard from the comics.
You’re wrong at the end btw. Yu Dao didn’t turn into Republic City in TLOK. It was actually a settlement called Cranefish Town that turned into the metropolis. It was introduced in a later ATLA comic series called North and South

i feel this comic was out of character for iroh, as well as letting him become fire lord. for one, iroh had no faith in azula, so i dont know what changed his mind there. then theres the fact of making him fire lord, iroh can run the nation im sure, but he understands the politics and how him becoming fire lord right after zuko would be seen as a scheme.
