    I loved how Ozai is portrayed mainly by Zuko/Aang. In S1/S2 he's this shadowy all powerful figure they have to challenge/appease that they are not strong enough to take on. They can't bear to think of his face, to look him in the eye, so he's drawn the same way so the audience doesn't see his face. It's exactly what a kid that age would think of their parent, especially if they were scared of them. When Zuko/Aang gain their confidence and grew up on their own, then we start to see his face, as now neither have their sense of self defined by him anymore and can stand up for themselves. They're still scared, but they've made the step forward of being able to look him in the eye.

    I just noticed after all these years. Avatar Roku literally warned Aang that Ozai was gonna use the power of sozin comet to finish the war once and for all. Then in book 4 when Zuko told the gang how Ozai was gonna use the power of Sozin’s comet to destroy everything, Aang sat in confusion and wondering why Zuko didn’t tell him sooner since he was planning to wait till after Sozin’s comet

    • @LeFizolof
      @LeFizolof Месяц назад +4

      When Roku speaks about that, it's a very vage supposition, based on what Sozin did himself with the comet. And Aang is the only one who spoke to Roku. This means Team Avatar don't really realize what the fire nation can do with the comet.
      When Zuko talk to them about the plan, he direclty heard it from its father and directly tell it to the Team. It has much more wheight in the decision of Attacking immediatly.

      Tbf i pretty sure at the time they were hoarding a lot of fire bending knowledge like lighting and other advanced fire techniques making the royal family the most powerful fire benders just cause of the knowledge they had access to. Later on in the legend of Korra lighting was far more common and the hand fire rocket thing which made them fly felt more common too.

    To me, Ozai's actions before Sozin's comet was somewhat understandable. Because even though his actions were horrible, it at least was logical for a king of a war based nation. He's just an average crusade king player.
    But burning down an entire nation they conquered because it was too tiresome to wipe out rebellion? That's messed up and doesn't contribute to anything.

    • @coreywigent7693
      @coreywigent7693 8 месяцев назад +36

      He was taking out the last of the rebellion in the earth kingdom. He didn't have enough time to burn down all of the earth kingdom because it was way too large. Yes what he planned was extremely evil but still logical in winning the war.

      @@kaylonhorohiwa1169Ozai’s greed and power is what caused his downfall. Similar to what happened to Azula, she was mentally unstable and power hungry and that led to her fall from power. It’s unclear if Azula was ever redeemed as it appears that at this point in book 3 she is too far gone and has committed so many crimes and atrocities against society. It’s possible that despite Azula being younger than Zuko, she is dead during the events of Legend of Korra. Remember, Azula was mentally unhinged and in that moment she could do dangerous things that could lead to her demise. Not to mention, she was imprisoned by Zuko after the events of Book 3. Azula eventually managed to escape from prison and hide in the wilderness where she most likely would be isolated from everyone else. We don’t know what happened to Azula between the events of book 3 and Legend of Korra. She wasn’t in Legend of Korra so its assumed she’s probably dead or still isolated from everyone. As for Ozai, its definitely obvious by the events of Legend of Korra, Ozai was long dead and lived his last years in that prison and died in that prison. Ozai was 45 years old already in Book 3 and Legend of Korra was 70 years after the events of Book 3. So he was dead for decades prior to the events of Legend of Korra.

      funny enough the northern water ttribe was still standing, even if they considered the south defeated because they wiped their benders (well, there were some kids on more isolated communities in the south hidding their bending prowess apparently.) there was still one nation were fighting them was disadvantageous for them being in the frigid poles an all, and apparently only zhao knows about the moon and sea spirits and he is currently being tortured by his own mind in the spirit world, i wonder how long the north could play on a war of attrition like this, considering every full moon they get massive advantage as well.

His persona himself represents a whole lot of things: toxisity, corrupted people that came to rule nations, and at the begining he was also sort of "evil that lurks from behind". And he is like the ultimate strenght. So many concepts all packed into one person. He is like the ultimate boss.
