In theory, Iroh was basically like Azula before he lost his son Lu Ten. He was the prodigy and the favorite son between him and Ozai who was jealous of him. After Iroh lost his son he learned empathy, before that he was a hardened war general who would've made sure that the Fire Nation spread across the world. Ozai hated his son Zuko because he hated himself.

@@ancientflames6679 I could be wrong, but iirc in the comics, Zukos mom actually talks on what happened that night, but I actually think you're right. I think it was Ozai that told Ursa he had to kill Zuko.
A lot of Azula's personality came from emulating her approving father. Under the care of Iroh she would be a better person by the time Aang emerged than she was in the main timeline. She would likely still be cold and calculating, but avoid more deceitful and fear-based tactics, as those were what got her mom and brother killed and her father imprisoned. She would probably rely more on her raw firebending talent to get what she wants, and maybe even treat her friends better with Iroh teaching her the value of governing with respect instead of fear.
My guess would be her fear based tactics would be differing in approach while still being manipulative. For instance, she wouldn't light the safety net on fire with Ty Lee but rather threaten the circus owner behind the scenes to do what he must to make her leave with her. She'd be far less likely to commit atrocities or cruelties to other but feel no qualms with manipulating things to her favor. That being said, there would also likely be a slightly softer side to her that would make her less manipulative to her friends in general circumstances and she'd likely come to begrudgingly respect Iroh for having a powerful but steady hand as well as giving her more care than either her parents ever had seeing as Ursa was terrified of her while Ozai loved to "play" with her.

The current story now only happened because Roku didnt kill Sozin, then dying and allowing the war to happen, then Aang finds out hes the avatar and flees and gets frozen. I think a series on a young Iroh, should be explored. It would go up to his failed siege of Ba Sing Se, after his sons passing, and the betrayal of Ozai
I think this is pretty accurate, all things considered. I think one of the oddest things are Azulon surviving long enough to do all that after being poisoned. It'd make more sense if something Iroh did was changed, rather than Azulon's death being delayed. The biggest difference, of course, could be Iroh bearing witness to Ozai's plot and therefore being able to thwart it. He would DEFINITELY ask for Zuko to be kept alive as his heir as well. Also odd would Iroh not being met with more distrust himself in the aftermath of the Moon Spirit being killed, but I think the events would still play out. It's mainly that everyone would be more apprehensive at taking Iroh's word, especially Sokka.
Personally I feel Iroh would try and stay by Azula's side similar to how how he did for Zuko in the show since she was all he had left. Really enjoyed this what-if scenario, can't wait to see the next part!

Obviously your version of Iroh is more sympathetic than the Netflix version of Ozai, but still. When your version of Iroh chose corruption over correction for very human reasons, i got the feeling he's an avatar too, in a way. Like how Aang is an avatar who wants to bring freedom and harmony, Iroh is a dark avatar who wants to bring a twisted form of stability and staying in line that will end up as oppression. TL;DR, your verison of Iroh keeps on doing bad things to prove himself he's a good father. While he didn’t care for them and probably saw them as nothing he also saw that his father viewed him as less than that. Maybe Zuko’s spirit was haunting him to the point where after a while he did feel guilt and took his own life in the process. Or maybe he was just stubborn and saw if he was no longer royalty then it wasn’t worth it anymore. Who knows
Actually in the comic the search, temporarily,Iroh did BECOME fire lord. And the first thing he did was make a national team day and made a guard drink his tea.absolute legend.
as what master samwise had said: Iroh was not complete when he started traveling with zuko. yes he is kind hearted. but he is more of a lawful neutral. not lawful good entirely. his travel and experience all through out the Avatar series is what made him, the Iroh we know. the wisdom he learned as he traveled and interacted with different nations.
I have a bit of a what if: What if Zuko went through with the Agi Kai? One of the big parts of his backstory is that when he realized that the person he was going to fight during the Agi Kai had been his father, he refused to fight. And this was the thing that infuriated the Lord more than anything else, and was actually the reason for his and scar. There’s even the after the series story where Zuko talks to him. And the Lord actually tells him that the only time he ever felt respect for his son was the time he made a decision and stuck with it. The question is if Zuko went through with the fight, would he have actually gained his father‘s respect? And what would that mean?
It may have been more politically prudent for Firelord Iroh to come to some kind of terms with the Earth Kingdom and Northern Water Tribe, especially now that his family has completely been shattered. I think rather than hatred, his response to all of this would be depression and fatigue. Plus, once he becomes Firelord, he'd be faced with planing more than just a war but would now have to consider what comes next--a prolonged occupation of both nations. I think he's wise enough to recognize how difficult that would be and how few rewards it would bring. He could probably get most of the rewards he might expect from victory just by making threats and extracting a lopsided peace treaty.
I think that the events between after the regular show and the Kora story line, with the creation of a city where all interact peacefully, would happen faster.

Actually in the comic the search, temporarily,Iroh did BECOME fire lord. And the first thing he did was make a national team day and made a guard drink his tea.absolute legend.
Finally finished the video and was thinking “oh this’ll be nice for Zuko” and then he fuckin DIED
To bring balance to the world, you must be willing to do what others aren’t
Poor Iroh. His lot in life is heartbreaking at times no matter what, isn't it?
I was waiting for this and of course hoping
Fantastic. U got my vote
hes taking it back to the roots
as what master samwise had said: Iroh was not complete when he started traveling with zuko. yes he is kind hearted. but he is more of a lawful neutral. not lawful good entirely.
his travel and experience all through out the Avatar series is what made him, the Iroh we know.
the wisdom he learned as he traveled and interacted with different nations.
I have a bit of a what if:
What if Zuko went through with the Agi Kai?
One of the big parts of his backstory is that when he realized that the person he was going to fight during the Agi Kai had been his father, he refused to fight.
And this was the thing that infuriated the Lord more than anything else, and was actually the reason for his and scar.
There’s even the after the series story where Zuko talks to him. And the Lord actually tells him that the only time he ever felt respect for his son was the time he made a decision and stuck with it.
The question is if Zuko went through with the fight, would he have actually gained his father‘s respect? And what would that mean?
spiderman writer typa bullying on iroh at the start
Finally a what if that isn’t about naruto!!!!! Let’s gooooo keep doing this with other franchises!
No joke I've watched it 10 times
I remember when this channel used to basically be an avatar only channel long ago
National Tea Appreciation Day is the only thing my mind goes too
Suggestion for another video.
What if Zuko had killed Ozai on the day of black sun when he had the chance.
I feel that If Iroh was Firelord, he'd try to honor his son and try to make peace and understand nobody would fogive the fire nation immediately
Please do a Part 2 on this.
I thought he wasn’t a part of the White Lotus until AFTER he denounced the throne? When did he become a member based in canon?
